I find these kinds of stories to be very intriguing. When I was younger I read, "Star-Spangled War Stories." Keep up the great work!
Loved this video. Paranormal military stories are my favorite ones. The jungles of Nam sound like the perfect place for these creatures to hide out in. That Reptilian story reminded me of Predator 1987 lol.

The opening soundtrack for Bedtime Stories, with the intense piano 🎹 is perhaps the best on TH-cam. It truly sets the episode on the right track from the beginning. I like how their first instict as foreign soldiers, whenever they have encountered any cryptids is to use overwhelming firepower to really put them on their knees, even when they havent really done anything other than obviously looking very dangerous and menacing, but I get it though, they may be dangerous And that sealing in the tunnel with bombs was just a nice closure for it lol
I'm willing to bet that the NVA or Viet Cong would have lit up those upright walking lizards too, had they encountered them. Who's to say that they haven't? I wish someone who lives in Vietnam, would talk to those veterans of the NVA and Viet Cong, and find out if they had those encounters also.

They don't have to exist. Many living animals have something called 'indeterminate growth', which means an animal such as a snake or crocodile size is only limited by its habitat and resources (food). So a gigantic living species of python such as Burmese is entirely plausible. In the deepest jungles there are no humans, ergo no predators, there's no telling how big they may have gotten.
While that is true, you have to take into account how they’ll circulate air, the effects of gravity on them ect. Animals can get big, but will still have nothing on King Kong or Godzilla
I was told a story by a guy that was stationed in South America that he was on a patrol in the jungle with his squad and came into a small clearing where they came up on a six foot tall bird standing on the path. They slowly backed up and retreated the way they came. He said just looking at this thing and specifically it's beak, you could tell it was likely carnivorous and appeared dangerous.

I wonder if the two "lizardmen" in the cave might've been vietnamese lepers; exiled to protect a local village from infection and so far into the disease their skin was flaky and scale-like in appearance in poor light.
They were also described as being 7 feet tall, so either that leprosy came with a dose of gigantism, or the low light was really dicking around with em.
I'm fascinated by cryptids. My stepfather served as an army engineer in Vietnam. While enjoying cigars with friends I asked him if he ever saw anything unusual while serving. Without missing a beat he responded, "what? Rock apes?" All of us there were momentarily speechless. He then went on to describe different encounters he had with them. It was fascinating.
As a retired soldier with a couple my own odd experiences I can appreciate hearing those of others and knowing that I'm not crazy. ....or at least that I'm not alone. 😉
I read this story about an American soldier that claimed he saw the ghost of a Roman Solider in Phan Thiet a month or so after Tet and the spirit spoke to the bewildered man saying " memento mori" remember that you [have to] die 😮
That's how it goes. There are pictures, but they were never published. They were published, but they're blurry. They're sharp, but there's nothing for scale. There's something for scale, but it's forced perspective.
Personally, I suspect the Oarfish Incident was just an excuse to explain unauthorized weapon discharges. Some units were very particular about firing your weapons only when allowed, so if you came back to base without every bullet you had been issued, you better have a good excuse, ideally involving a lengthy and valorous battle where your unit earned multiple decorations. The one fellow I knew who had to write down those excuses for his unit was a very bored and uninspired clerk by the end of his tour. Upside, he never had to request Graves Registration so he was happier than many.
Personally, I suspect the incident never happened at all. If it did happen, I suspect details, like the size of the animal, are embellished. If that's the case, the most likely candidates are the bull shark and the Mekong giant catfish. Both would be interested in anything splashing.
@@Dimetropteryx For sure, I suspect embellishment was involved if it did happen at all. Indeed, the soldiers themselves need not have embellished at all but rather others retelling the tale did it, making a fun story about couple of guys scared out of the water by a catfish into a mildly-frightening tale of a 30-foot leviathan. Similar thing happened to a swamp-dweller I knew. He was fishing, had a baby alligator fall in his boat. He bashed its brains in and used it for bait. He joked to his kids at home that he had defeated a "mighty monster." Well, one of those kids told someone else about the "mighty monster" without qualifying that it was a three-footer that he could beat to death with his bare hands. The story grew from there and soon the very confused man was inundated with concerned townsfolk thanking God that the massive 13-foot male gator that knocked his boat over hadn't killed him.
Caught the earlier version with the "almighty glitch" in it. At first I thought it was just part of the video until it went into a strobe pattern flashing green. Other than that the video as a whole was great. Had a laugh when I refreshed the page after the end to see the video was set to private to fix it.

I have a scary ghost story about a ghost plane that my wife and myself saw during a return flight from the Mediterranean sea , we were returning to our business's airstrip in iowa. The type of plane my wife Madison and myself was in was a modified F-14D-S MK21 which is the best variant of the F14 tomcat (the -S mk21 has technology that is only available for our squadron). But the ghost plane we saw was a small twin engine (propliner) with the trident tail from the Lockheed constellation, the top and bottom (dead center) was on fire , while we saw seats falling out of the plane with skeletons in the seats and skeletons are seen in the cockpit

This guy's pretty good. Drama can sometimes make me wander off; I don't have the focus for that. But the way this guy tells things in a more matter-of-fact way keeps me hooked.
During WW2 1/5 of US servicemen experienced combat where they had to discharge their weapon against an enemy. During Vietnam it was 4/5. US servicemen in Vietnam experienced exponentially more combat on average than their WW2 forerunners. That being said everybody forgets Korea where US servicemen endured a vietnam similar experience, except US troops had to repel human wave attacks in Korea. Think about what "repelling" a human wave attack entails and the horror of that. One weapon they used to guard outposts in Korea was the quadmount 50 caliber M2. 4 50 caliber machine guns attached to a turret. This was used to repel human wave attacks. The devastation one 50 BMG round can do to a human body cannot be overstated. Now consider 4 machine guns pouring into a wave of people.... horrible.

Now I'll be going as an adult with a much more sound mind. It's been years since I've been there and a tiny part of me isn't looking forward to my next visit. Thanks Bedtime Stories, you got me on this one.
Can you ask around about any of these creatures to see if locals have any extra details?
Don't walk the trail alone
@@Sassafras- I don't see why not. I have plenty of family scattered from province to province.

There's similar stories in Native American folklore, or in modern times, like the Mothman in West Virginia.
could you please ask some relatives of yours about that giant snake? I'm curious about that one

the second story sounds like a "dragon" in some asian myths. some versions are even known to have pulled humans into the water and never to be found again.

Funny thing is, something similar to that was meant to be in Kong: Skull Island before being replaced by the Skullcrawlers.
I find these kinds of stories to be very intriguing. When I was younger I read, "Star-Spangled War Stories." That short-lived series of comic books, set during The Second World War, featured stories of American military forces fighting not only human enemies, but also monstrous prehistoric foes. Keep up the great work!
Loved this video. Paranormal military stories are my favorite ones.
The jungles of Nam sound like the perfect place for these creatures to hide out in.
That Reptilian story reminded me of Predator 1987 lol.
The narrator was perfect. Cheers from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Flying Humanoids during Wartime, I've never heard this one before.
There was the Angels of Mons from World War 1, not sure about any others.
Interesting I have been noticing a pattern here with certain military strikes with these encounters.
OK, what was a Manananggal doing in Vietnam? I thought they're only native to the Philippines.
Phillip hayden- If I had witnessed something like this by myself, it would probably never be heard.
I would like to hear about any Vietnamese people's encounters with these things, during the war.
If there's any truth to these stories, maybe they can be collaborated by the opposing sides, like the Foo Fighters during ww2.
The opening soundtrack for Bedtime Stories, with the intense piano 🎹 is perhaps the best on TH-cam. It truly sets the episode on the right track from the beginning. Then the narration, with the voice and the pace, the script itself and not to forget the artwork, complete the interesting and captivating medley of thrill and suspense. By far, one of the best channels on TH-cam. 👻👽
I like how their first instict as foreign soldiers, whenever they have encountered any cryptids is to use overwhelming firepower to really put them on their knees, even when they havent really done anything other than obviously looking very dangerous and menacing, but I get it though, they may be dangerous
And that sealing in the tunnel with bombs was just a nice closure for it lol
I'm willing to bet that the NVA or Viet Cong would have lit up those upright walking lizards too, had they encountered them.
Who's to say that they haven't?
I wish someone who lives in Vietnam, would talk to those veterans of the NVA and Viet Cong, and find out if they had those encounters also.
yeah they are 18 yo kids. I doubt any officer or sgt would do that.
@@LTPottenger No doubt.
@@truthseeker2321 I remember reading somewhere that they had similar experiences with fighting the rock apes iirc, i am sure being that they lived in the region they saw lots more of them.

@@ATomRileyA Yeah, some of those tunnels were there from ww2, when the Japanese Army was in Vietnam.
I only found this channel in the last year or so. Absolute godsend. The narration, artwork and general ambience is just fantastic.
Very interesting indeed. Also... Who ever drew that snake deserves a pay raise

in the third picture, some people have tried to scale the snake with one of the nearby termite hills. the length proposed was unbelievable.
If these creatures do exist then why do we not find skeletal remains?
@@SamuelBlack84 the tropics are not known to be good preserver of fossils and many known rare creatures are elusive as well so don't expect too much out of getting physical evidence unless you know the holes from where they crawl out of.
Ppl say that abt Bigfoot too, which I'm not sold on, but I do hunt here in Vermont and my reply to that is usually: How often do you find a bear carcass? Or a cougar/lynx skeleton? Or even a moose? You don't. U can spend your whole life in the woods and never find large, intelligent animal remains. So lack of remains does not sell me the lack of existence.
@@sarahoshea9603 Scavengers waste very little time, doing away with a carcass, whether human or animal.
I remember a cow drowned in a flash flood, in a usually dry creek bed, where I live in Indiana, and after three weeks, hardly any bones remained.
The Buzzards and Coyotes, Raccoons and even people's dogs made good use of that carcass.
Same in Ontario. @@sarahoshea9603
I absolutely love the cryptic videos, I'm excited to watch the next part! You guys are the best.
It’s bad enough these service members had to be on alert for the enemy but they also had to be on the alert for cryptids 😬
Great to hear Luke over here again!
Love his narration over on Wartime Stories.
As if ambushes, snipers, mortar attacks, children with grenades and punji stakes weren't enough. Throw in two-step vipers and tigers. Now these things? The gigantic snakes rising to meet helicopters seems almost rational. Nice job on the narration Luke. Looking forward to the next episode.
Dont sound like very nice war fighter in their country, been much nicer to use napalm bombs and other air niceties.
Man, wtf is going on in the world? If 10% of these stories are true, there some wild shit going on.

Although WTS is a “sister channel” me and Rich don’t do really any coordination on stories 🤷🏼♂️ and I certainly don’t have dibs on all war stories.
I’m actually planning my own episode to expand on at least one of these cryptid stories myself. 😁
@@WartimeStories Please do! I still think about that Kitsune story, love your stuff.
The thought of Giant snakes like Titanoboa existing would impress and scare me at the same time.
It could've bwen an anaconda. Them and reticulated pythons are big enough to be nightmare fuel.
If that 100 footer is real, it makes Titanoboa look like an earthworm.
Most likely paranoia or fake story no way they can live on surface ever it's just not biologically possible .
While that is true, you have to take into account how they’ll circulate air, the effects of gravity on them ect. Animals can get big, but will still have nothing on King Kong or Godzilla
Loved the alien/cryptid playing cards at 04:43 lol
I was told a story by a guy that was stationed in South America that he was on a patrol in the jungle with his squad and came into a small clearing where they came up on a six foot tall bird standing on the path. They slowly backed up and retreated the way they came. He said just looking at this thing and specifically it's beak, you could tell it was likely carnivorous and appeared dangerous.
What an excellent narrator Luke Lamana is. Richard, you have been knocked off your pedestal. Wonderful material professionally told.
Excellent addition to your channel.

I too would like to hear stories of odd encounters
You can't just drop a bomb like that, then disappear. To quote an old friend, "Fo sheezy, my neezy. Don't tease me, just please me!"

Incidents that should be recorded and preserved ,all from veterans who are mostly infirm or have passed away. Brave men who fought for a government that did not give them the support and comfort they required on return. homeless was one tragic aspact.

Now consider 4 machine guns pouring into a wave of people.... horrible.
