      @@ComradeCommissarYuri Pumas are not known to be wild outside North and South America... but man do they make for some "mysterious" deaths. The trick with Pumas is that their natural ranges is ALL of both continents. They know it and don't give a crap about what Humans think their current range should be. Oh and they tend to migrate a lot. They have a concept of territory, but it changes over time and tagged animals have been seen to fully relocate to a completely different area presumably looking for better hunting. "It can't be a Puma no one has seen on in this state for 20 years!" Until today..... Also their territorial nature means they recognize areas as "Human territory", but if they're hungry that just makes them sneakier. They KNOW people live there, and try to avoid being seen. Heck since they're cats they might hide from you by standing on the roof of your house.

      @@replecon1408 there are many cases of war dogs tucking tail and cowering when there is something afoot for which conventional science and interpretation have no means to identify or base upon prior experience. There are pheromones and sounds which we dont sense or hear where a dog can and WILL become steadfast in their refusal to progress. I've seen them in the deep forests of northern idaho on the Canadian border do just that. It happens. So before you assert a universal "BS" stance, try to remember you may never experience further beyond the comfort of your vacation zones within the quadrants you're comfortable visiting throughout this world, but there are things that 99.99% of mankind will never see with their own eyes or on video that exist in this world in places where men just dont go and IF they do go, they remain for a brief moment in time and then do not return.

      The true stories can be hair-raising too. I had a friend who worked as an MP in Berlin during the mid 1960s. He had the dubious job, being half-German and fluent in the language, of reclaiming American servicemen picked up by the German military police during the night. One morning, he is waiting in the transfer room when this terrified monster of an American soldier, easily 6'4'' and 250 pounds, breaks open the door, leaps across the table, wraps himself around my friend's legs and starts crying like a little baby, expressing between sobs how grateful he was to be in American hands ago. You see, the German military police had their own ideas about how to treat detainees. This big brave American was reduced to a crying child by just a few hours of such German military discipline. The German officer who came in to finalize the transfer was positively smiling with glee at the sight of the American, even saying "I expect we will have no more trouble with this man." Makes one appreciate the Bill of Rights all the more when you realize there was a time when our jailors were free to be cruel and unusual in their punishments.

      Its definitely harder to discredit as just some random person potentially making them up for publicity, not saying the state doesnt lie but still

    • @genericpersonx333
      @genericpersonx333 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Metallus Zorax Very much so. The new Germany of the late 1960s considered it very important to be seen to use love, not force, to keep law and order because they didn't want to be accused of being Yahtzis still. So not long after my friend mustered out of Berlin, you had the 1972 Munich Olympics where one plan for security included a supply of candy to be handed out to any rioters that arose. This was the same Olympics where a group of Palestinians murdered a bunch of Israelis because there was no armed security around by order of the government.
      So if you ever wonder Germany is so weird politically these days, note that many of the young kids who demanded that the police hand out candy in the 1970s are now old people in top positions of government in Germany today.

      @I'll taketh thy cheese by force Well, Bedtime Stories doesn't claim to deal only in the real. It is about good stories, some completely fictional memes from the Internet while others are older stories from communities that don't have a big internet presence. Most every big military community has its own set of ghost stories that the soldiers pass around between themselves, and BTS has had the good fortune to know a number of Cold War veterans who are willing to share these stories for us all to enjoy. So yeah, no sources because it is not BTS's concern to prove or disprove, just entertain and inspire.

    Having been stationed in Germany in the mid- to late-70s, let me assure you that US servicemen were well-adapted to the environment and were not subject to undue stress because of the Cold War. As a squad leader in a scout platoon, I traipsed around the various woods (Black Forest, Taunus Mountains, and Fulda Gap) in the dark on many, many nights. But we never saw anything more threatening than a fox. Except for when we were cold, wet, hungry, and/or sleep-deprived, we were usually having a fairly good time, one way or another.

Yeah, I'm that old. For the bonus money, Dad served 4 full tours in Vietnam and whenever he was back in Japan or Okinawa, he taught the J.D.F. off whichever base we were at, and Mom always taught English at Japanese public schools. Though both were very observant Roman Catholics, they both let me know that one should know about the beliefs of the locals, one that you would avoid being impolite, and two, if people believe it, it might be true.

I also worked swings & mids (swing shifts and midnite shifts) on the flightline, Weapons Storage Area and Alert areas. I would have been involved in this operation, had it happened. There was a legend about an off-base munitions storage area named Morbach, where I worked quite a few night shifts, about a Monster Boar that roamed the woods and we would often hear loud noises and breaking tree limbs, but never saw any sign of the beast. I also spent nights outside of the fences during "alerts" as a counter-espionage unit and never ran into any large bipedal creatures. Great story, nonetheless, and brings back memories od my time in the Hunsruck Mountains.
