been facinated by this collection for years. You guys missed one major point, that most of the cars are according to many sources online at least, owned by the Sultan's Brother, Prince Jeffri - the Brunei Playboy. I'll leave you search online about his 90s antics. Few other bits - One of the silver Ferrari 456 wagons (we call them estates in the uk) lives in London and is regularly spotted. The Grey Ferrari F40 with the red pin stripe was imported into the UK and sold by DK Engineering. It was repainted back in its original Rossa Corsa, and then in 2019, it was restored back to the Brunei spec satin grey and red pin stripe finish. It has electric windows and a raised headliner for taller drivers. A car buyer travelled over there years ago and commented on the 'sea of Mercedes' where many of the more vanilla cars of the collection were left outside In the extremely humid conditions, and commented on the leather of steering wheels melting off into the footwells, the article is still available on Jalopnik. The cars were housed in 5 multi story style car parks, and the exotic counter parts (i.e the F1's, 962's, F40's, XJ220s, Several ex 80/90's F1 cars etc) were housed in a glass showroom style building which was air conditioned to preserve them. in the 90s when the money was still flowing, there was a full time team of servicemen looking after the collection before the money dried and lots of cars were sold off or simply left. According to the car buyer who went there, many of the collection are difficult to purchase because accessing the collecting is near impossible, but many cars don't come with official log books (or ownership titles in the US) rendering them unsellable insome cases. There was also a rumour that during the 90s, a Rolls Royce Silver Seraph was left running full time, 24/7 within the set up, to allow the Sultan or the royal family a quick escape in the event of any emergencies. I could go on all day so il stop here but... the collection absolutely boggles the mind.

There was word going around he purchased 80 new Mercs (one each) for his concubines back in early 2000’s. One who had left the herim lived nearby and earned $100k a year for the rest of her life. Very interesting guy. He is also exceptionally generous on trips with massive tips given.
i was talking about this collection with someone i went to school with a few years ago , he works in oil and gas thats why he was there . supposeedly he was shown some of the less valuable cars in storage and said they were in bad shape as the storage buildings were not built to deal with the humidity .
I worked on the interior design of the Sultan’s Gulfstream jet back in the 1980’s. My role was minor. I was modifying the electrical diagrams and harnesses based on the customization requirements. I recall that he had a bulkhead door that was split in the middle and had hand carved jade handles that slid open and down. He also had sconces on the walls that had verses from the Koran. Gulfstream in Long Beach did beautiful interiors.
I was at the Bentley factory many years ago. In the special vehicle workshop there was a Continental R under a cover. It started up and was loud. It was also low on black wheels with low profile rubber. The guy got out of a race seat and clambered over a full cage. I asked what the hell was that .., he looked around and said the Sultans brother wants to go racing..😂
I remember reading an article about his cars and there were huge fields filled with cars rotting in the tropical heat, rolls Royce’s with moss growing on the leather seats. It said that there are cars that were delivered and parked and never drive again or were once and never driven again. I’m sure most of the cars are worthless because they have been rotting in the tropical heat for decades.
You guys are my favorite auto enthusiast. Each one of you has stunning personality, and all have "crazy" passion about cars. Pure joy to see you together. Please valuate other Ferraris and other cars that he has (example BMW Nazca). I think Nazca is sold, but that car is my poster car (without poster😂) thank you all. Greetings from Croatia!
You have missed an original GT3, an entire collection of original F1 cars that were literally as the driver got out after the last race. I was lucky enough to have a few minutes to look at some and they were entirely unrestored. Ages ran from mid 80's to the end of the 90's. There was a warehouse full....... At one stage the Antonov heavy lift plane was taking 7 or 8 Rolls Royces a month out there.
I have a family member who actually valued other items and gave advice on the car collection. I can say 10000% for sure that in the early 2000's most of the cars were in very poor condition. At the time most were stored by colour in massive hangers that did NOT have humidity control systems. Bruni is a tropical climate and humidity is a issue. As such the interiors of almost all of them were mouldy and had much more rust than you would expect. I have seen images from then and can tell you it is an over the top collection and he also had a Batmobile that shot a flame thrower like in the movies along with others but being a kid at the time that's the one I remember the most. Not to say he has not fixed his collection now and storing them better but I can say this for the early 2000's for sure no doubt. So I can only guess what they would be like by now but I feel not very good still so have to say I think the value would be a lot less than the very fair and reasonable guesstimate by you guys. Keep up the interesting clips guys
I worked for a family a few yrs back that has a fine car collection...Bentley's, Morgan's, Porsche's to name a few. One of which was a Ferrari F355 that my employer boasted that he purchased/traded with the Sultan and from the said deal gained the dream Ferrari for the collection... Was never to sure if it was true but hey... Stunning example though, black on black on black.. Was definitely a special one thats for sure. Personally I was more into the white 1985 Porsche 911 turbo parked next to the F355 at the time. Keep the content coming 🙌🏻
@@4K1R4-00 pretty often. A lot of them were auctioned off in Brunei. Some others end up leaving in private sales. But every now and then one pops up, like most recently that silver 456 estate is in Denver iirc.
They’re not in a jungle as you can see, but some are kept outside. Some have never been driven but he has mechanics on the payroll to look after all the cars. The bespoke 456’s are all known as the Venice, and he had plenty of other one off Ferraris including the Bolide which is based on the F50. A lot of the old Rolls Royces had twin turbo conversions and I read that he didn’t purchase anymore Rollers after the BMW takeover in 1998 but that’s not a great loss as he had 300 of the things at that point! Bespoke Astons built by Pininfarina were made (these are called the AM2/3/4), and loads of other things including bikes and ex f1 cars.
I have a good contact who has a bunch of factory parts removed from the Sultans (Ed’s estimate) 15.4 m $ worth modified Ferrari 456’s, he has a stack of as unused brake discs & calliper’s, and exhaust parts and some other bits and pieces. The guy that removed them was part of a team converting cars for TSoB back in the day. Just seeing all the brakes layed out makes you realise the kind of money he was throwing at these cars 😮
Unless he has a team of about 100 master technicians there is absolutely no possible way that the vast majority of those cars are being cared for at all which is heart breaking.
I remember reading about this as a kid. Has anyone interviewed the Sultan on his cars? Did he lose interest in cars later, or why is it only 80s/90s? This would be a great car museum. Next time one flies to Singapore and Bali; wouldn't mind a stop in Brunei. :)
Most cars were bought by Prince Jefri, the Sultan’s third brother. As the Minister of Finance for Brunei (until 1997) he controlled the revenue from oil and gas. Thanks to the 1997 Asian financial crisis, his investment firm collapsed under $US10 billion in debt; audits later found Jefri himself had received $US14.8 billion. In 2000, Prince Jefri settled lawsuits against him by the government of Brunei and began to return assets to the state
For me the cars that im.personally interested in from the sultan are the mclaren f1 gt. The famous black f40 lm with a red stripe HKS ZERO R And the bugatti eb110 ss
Those 456's are beautiful. Also it's pretty crazy how similar those Bentley SUVs from the 90s are to the Bentayga design. The Sultan was a visionary. 😎
11:00 Funny you say that.... My friend went to college with one of the grandsons of the Sultan and they were in the same frat. Occasionally he would loan my friend money and there were 8 digits in his account. According to my friend he was a really cool person, but didn't talk to his grandfather much since he has A LOT of grandchildren.
Great video and crazy collection. Maybe you should have mentioned that the Sultan obviously only became so rich because he is watching much better for himself than for his people… obviously… I mean there is nothing wrong with having nice cars but this is just ridiculous
My favorite absolutely has to be the Ferrari F50 Bolide. Even though not much is known about it, the design is just so incredibly unique that it’s hard not for it to peak your interest
@@geetee2694 oh wow.. yeah I’ve only ever seen 2 images of the actual car and simply heard it was “based on the f50”. Any idea of the possible whereabouts of the car?
The cars are not rotting at all, they are all inside and not in some broken down barn. yes many of them need servicing, but that's not a major problem at all. The collection is in the billions of dollars
Three of the five publicly owned F1 LM's. So the two which he doesn't own can likely set records if they ever hit auction. The six (prototype) which is in McLaren's headquarters will never be sold as long as McLaren is in business. Anyone know who owns the other two? I know one sat at the McLaren Philly dealership years ago and there's video here of someone driving away from a car meet.

Try to do the Sultan of Johor (A state of Malaysia) - He also is supposed to have a massive collection. I’ve seen all sorts of exotica drive past where I used to live. I’m not sure it’s a big as this, but it is supposed to be huge.

There it is!!! I posted about doing this video for months!! Glad to see it
Crazy collection! The Stutz factory still exists in Indianapolis, it’s rentable art space for art studios, the building is beautiful
How awesome would it be if the hosts of this video were invited to tour one of the garages? That’d be some epic content.
He had a MEGA mansion here in Las Vegas, on Tomiyasu (where Wayne Newton and Mike Tyson lived). 65,000 square feet. Bought for 60 mill and aold it for 38 mil. Absolutely insane money
Thank you guys! been waiting for a review of his collection since I am a kid, mind blowing!
Think I'd take one of the F-1's and a couple AC's. Absolutely sick collection. And I agree with Ed. Unfortunately, they most likely are sitting in a field or maybe garaged with zero climate control. And have never been started in years. All those cars were built to be driven. I love my 986 even more. :O
been facinated by this collection for years.
Vinwiki daily content, I'm in heaven!
I still can't comprehend the scale of this collection. As you can tell in the video just researching and talking about it blew my mind.
hello guys i am from Brunei.I can assure you guys that all of the car is well kept in to 4-5 halls(double stories) that are protected by our miltary.
That’s awesome to hear man!!

So come during Sultan birthday 15 July every year or keep update during royal Brunei wedding you can witness different kind of rolls Royce or open u tube about the silver jubilee of Sultan parade
I could listen to ficarra all day long, big love for this guy
There a are a bunch of cars from this collection I'd cherry-pick given unlimited funds, but here are my top 5:
McLaren F1 (#002)
McLaren F1 GT (#054F1GT)
McLaren F1 GTR (#09R - Exact copy of Ueno Clinic car)
Ferrari F40 (RHD, Black-Red Pinstripe)
Ferrari 456 Venice Wagon (Black)
There was word going around he purchased 80 new Mercs (one each) for his concubines back in early 2000’s. One who had left the herim lived nearby and earned $100k a year for the rest of her life. Very interesting guy. He is also exceptionally generous on trips with massive tips given.
i was talking about this collection with someone i went to school with a few years ago , he works in oil and gas thats why he was there . supposeedly he was shown some of the less valuable cars in storage and said they were in bad shape as the storage buildings were not built to deal with the humidity .
Climate controls were actually turned off.
I'm still hope that some automotive journalist will be allowed to completely document the Sultan's collection.
BIllion's of dollars of exotics rotting away in the jungle. So sad.
i thought they were all in a nice garage
they're not left in jungle u muppet..
They are not abandoned 🤣 all in storage
@@tipsy8201 yeah in a storage that's located in the middle of a jungle that's not climate controlled.
@@tipsy8201 not temperature controlled storage though according to most reports
Keep the content coming 🙌🏻
how often Sultan's cars are for sale?
@@4K1R4-00 pretty often. A lot of them were auctioned off in Brunei. Some others end up leaving in private sales. But every now and then one pops up, like most recently that silver 456 estate is in Denver iirc.
His brother, The prince of Brunei, Jefri Bolkiah, has a yacht called Tit (the lifeboats are names Nipple 1 and Nipple 2).
i bet ferrari has never sent the sultan an angry letter for customizing a car.
Hell just buy the company lol
He's a sultan not some dumb TH-camr looking to show off
They’re not in a jungle as you can see, but some are kept outside.
He also has Mercedes make reproduction Mercedes Pullmans with all the trimmings
Yea, a lot of the Mercedes and less valuable cars slowly have become part of the jungle.
Ficarra looks great! Good for him!
He has 2 Bentley Sporting Estates, I transported both from Crewe to Charles De Gaulle airport for transfer to Brunei.
In 2000, Prince Jefri settled lawsuits against him by the government of Brunei and began to return assets to the state
I usually don't leave comments but this Is f****** awesome.
You should appraise my collection next. It's easy I have 0 cars.
Love these appraisals videos, and would love to see one covering the Collier collection! Local billion-dollar collection here in Naples!
The Sultan's not a collector, he's a hoarder who likes to flex, hard. The cars are never driven, and will rot away in garages for his ego's sake
He andhis brother used to drive them. They must still drive some.
For me the cars that im.personally interested in from the sultan are the
mclaren f1 gt.
The famous black f40 lm with a red stripe
HKS ZERO R
And the bugatti eb110 ss
Those 456's are beautiful. Also it's pretty crazy how similar those Bentley SUVs from the 90s are to the Bentayga design. The Sultan was a visionary. 😎
Id say the front looks alot more like the culilan
11:00 Funny you say that.... My friend went to college with one of the grandsons of the Sultan and they were in the same frat.
Occasionally he would loan my friend money and there were 8 digits in his account.
According to my friend he was a really cool person, but didn't talk to his grandfather much since he has A LOT of grandchildren.
Great video and crazy collection. Maybe you should have mentioned that the Sultan obviously only became so rich because he is watching much better for himself than for his people… obviously… I mean there is nothing wrong with having nice cars but this is just ridiculous
Yea found this hard to watch
You know nothing about brunei but already talking sh1t like your personallity LOL
I’m with John on the Black F40 LM 🔥Always wanted to see a picture 😢
If this included every single car, it would be hours long.
Weeks long👍
Meanwhile I have the Owner’s copy of Driving Ambition that belongs to his Le Mans ‘95 replica McLaren F1 GTR.
My favorite absolutely has to be the Ferrari F50 Bolide. Even though not much is known about it, the design is just so incredibly unique that it’s hard not for it to peak your interest
It was never made. It was a mockup of the potential project.
(I liked it too.)
@@geetee2694 so that’s why there’s so little info on it I guess... dang
We did a thread on the Ferrari Chat forum in the mid/late 2000s, with verifiable people who would be more 'in the know'.
@@geetee2694 oh wow.. yeah I’ve only ever seen 2 images of the actual car and simply heard it was “based on the f50”. Any idea of the possible whereabouts of the car?
@@Spherz it does not exist. lol. The mock up was not a real car. It was presented at Pininfarina.
The cars are not rotting at all, they are all inside and not in some broken down barn. yes many of them need servicing, but that's not a major problem at all. The collection is in the billions of dollars
It’s not about the money
The cars are priceless
Almost
Amazing video! I was very interested when I saw that you guys appraised the world’s largest car collection.
I think Ralph Lauren owns one, and the other has been seen in the Chicago area
This collection reminds me of when you would get to the point in one of those mobile games or early Facebook games like Mafia Wars when you were taking in so much currency every day that you ended up just buying armored Benzes in bulk to spend the money fast enough.
Try to do the Sultan of Johor (A state of Malaysia) - He also is supposed to have a massive collection. I’ve seen all sorts of exotica drive past where I used to live. I’m not sure it’s a big as this, but it is supposed to be huge.
Ya sultan johor and all his son has a beautiful collection
Hi member
That list is insane. Not only the cars but the amount each of some of them is ridiculous!
The thumbnail is from a ferrari tour years ago and its not owned by someone in brunei, would be glad if you changed it to cars that he actually own....Seen people use that photo way to many times talking about the collection of brunei.
My uncle was a geologist for Exon Mobile and when to work for the government of Brunei. They gave him three different jets over 8 year of employment and an allowance for the upkeep.
To keep the jets or only while he worked temporary
Being a Geologist seems to be more exciting than it sounds initially.
As I watch you go through the list of crazy cars, I'm left wondering what would be the cheapest of all?
Possibly an unmodded Merc limo??
I once went to Dynasty 2, a restaurant in Chelsea Wharf, London. The sultan was also there that evening. He arrived in a purple Bentley.
And I felt dumb for having around 200 toy cars...
The S73 wagon has to be one of the craziest in the collection 🤯
How do we get Ed to Brunei on tour?
I would love to see a JP Performance evaluation, interesting collection and hard to judge because alot are tuned/ modified
Thought he had some crazy concept cars like the Ferrari Mythos, Lamborghini Cala, and the Bentley hunaudières, etc. Also some crazy mods of Jag XJ220s. For me: wish I could have one of the McLaren F1LMs in that factory Papaya Orange. 😅
He never had Cala or Hunaudieres (Cala is owned by Factory I believe)
He owns all the Ferrari Mythos. Iirc, these are all the Sultan’s cars and are kept at the Brunei palace.
amazing collection...a lucky guy for sure
Is the collection bigger than Shmee's?
Maybe 1000 times larger than Shmee’s.
Awesome! I requested this one on the Jay Leno video!
This is why i TRUELY hate people with enormus ammount of money, nothing wrong with that but the ide that someone is just hording / stockpileing cars like this just makes me mad, cars are ment to be driven not just to stand around and collect dust!
Him being such a big car guy, you should try and make contact with the sultan and get a tour of his collection. He may shock you guys.
Can you imagine if homeboy sold just 10% of that collection the collector car market would explode!! Love ya boys. I have to say if John has a connect with the collection maybe put in a word for ed to get one of the many f1s this dude has.
Nah, these are such one off and boutique cars that it would effect the market.
Ed Can’t afford those F’1s. Seriously.
The bentley Dominator suv looks like the concept car for the Lincoln Navigator that was mass produced and can be bought for $3-5k
This dude sounds like a real life version of “The Dictator” movie. Great video guys! Thanks for all your work!
He has at least one and probably more than one of the Jag XJ220s too! I remember reading a British Car Magazine as a kid in 1992 stating he and Elton John had one of the first XJ220s.
My girlfriend and I are going to Brunei this summer to see the sultans birthday and have high hopes that might be a day to showcase some of these to the crowd
Yes definitely! I’m from Brunei. If you want to see some cars do let me know

Don't forget to go to Muara beach. Fond memories of Brunei, day trips to Labuan. I used to buy nasi beras in Bandar Seri Begawan.
I love wagons so the 456 and S-Class V12 wagons just became my lottery cars.
