    oh my gosh. fail! I forgot to say 10 minute natural pressure release. DUH! Sorry, guys! I guess I'll have to remake this one again 😅

      I went through a process of trial and error to come up with a cooked white rice that works for me, so I've yet to try your example; although, I would have deducted 5 points for leaving out the 10 min. natural pressure release. I am curious to try out the brown rice method. On a side note, I tried your new method of cooking hard boiled eggs which turned out perfect. A+ on that.

      I just watch your last video from a year ago then to this one. I figured that was the last step after the 3 minutes was up lol. But now I'm wondering... After the 3 minutes... Do I need to keep it warm for 10 minutes then another 10 minutes natural release? Or after the 3 minutes with the warm option off... Just wait 10 minutes then release valve, open and fluff? THX =)

      @@earthworm85 hope I answer this in a way that makes sense. See how after 3 minutes is done your display says L0:00. After 10 minutes elapse it will say L0:10, then release pressure knob by turning to vent and after all steam stops coming out, open lid and fluff rice and serve. Do not wait another 10 minutes either by keeping warm or letting the display go to L0:20 bc she says it can get stickier or a lil drier. Though I wouldn't think 10 minutes after the 10 minute natural pressure release would dry rice too much. After the 3 minute pressure cook, and 10 minute wait, then releasing the steam, I fluffed it up , pushed "cancel" to turn the heating element off but I did leave the rice in the inner pot and left the inner pot still in the base while family got their rice on their plates. After dinner, I scraped rest out of inner pot to store.
      Idk if this helped at all or confuse you, hee.

    • @recoverykonie407
      @recoverykonie407 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@earthworm85 also, I just made rice, 1 cup dry with 1.25 cups water, 3 min. High pressure and 10 minutes lapsed time/natural release. And when I switched knob from sealing to venting, there was no steam at all. But the rice is fine, so all the pressure must've released.

    works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside th-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

    What a great video. You did a wonderful job and answered things that I did not know and clarified other things. love your videos and love the instant pot. I have a 3 quart and a 5 quart. they are a wonderful addition to my kitchen. Love the fact that you don’t have to stand over a stove and continually watch and monitor and stir. Also did not know about the rice washer colander I really think I will get one of those you need to get a commission on these things because people would not buy them because they did not know about them and also your recommendation helps wonderfully

    If you leave the keep warm off, it still natural releases, but the clock doesn't stay on, so you have to use your own timer. I turn it off all the time on my small instantpot because it runs hot, and things overcook. I did the same for my 10 quart, because of the extra time it took to come to pressure.

    I'm cooking a lot of rice and then once cooked, freeze drying. That way I can store for long times, just like when it is dry, but it is already cooked and just needs a reheat when I am ready to use. I rehydrate with whatever liquid goes with the meal I am making, whether water or beef broth, etc. I weigh before freeze drying and after and have a pretty good idea how much liquid I need to rehydrate.

      You could use a portion of broth along with water. Chicken broth, vegetable broth, beef, broth, bone broth, all combined with water for a total of 1 to 1.25 ratio. Using 100% broth will flavor the rice too much. Or, you can throw in some herbs afterwards, chives, dried parsley, etc..

    Love your videos! I watched the one for those who have just purchased or afraid to use and this one.I just bought an Instantpot and came to TH-cam to figure out how to use it. I'm going to cook some rice tonight for some orange chicken. BTW, I get tickled at your pronunciation of button. I think I might start enunciating better. :)

    Is the Rice Cup you use = 180 ml Cup or is it the standard US measuring cup used for over the stove top cooking? Also, I understand the 180 ml Cup = approx. 3/4 US measuring cup. It will be helpful to know both answers. Thanks.

    Okay, I'm cooking rice for the first time in my life. I'm going to add ingredients to my rice and fry it in a wok.
    I've done everything in the video and I've got the updated version. It's currently in keep warm position. It's 2.30pm my wife gets home at 5.30pm.
    When can I start frying it and add ingredients ?

    The same people that were mad that you didn't wash your rice are the same people who rinse their pasta after cooking it.

    Manual and pressure cook are the same thing. Thanks. I get turned off and frustrated watching recipes on other channels that have the manual button. Now I know!

    I usually just use the preset rice button, however it cooks the rice for 12 minutes. It gets a bit sticky. I normally do 1 cup rice to 1 1/2 cup water, could be a reason why my rice is sticky 😅

    Great video! Ive never understood why folks dont try to use the steam function to cook the rice. Yes pressure cooking might save 5 minutes total time but the texture turns out so much “fluffier” imo.

      I don't understand the difference, because steam comes to pressure, too.

    • @TheOnlyChrisB
      @TheOnlyChrisB 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No when you use the steam option on instant pot or a ninja foodi you do not seal the pressure in. You either keep it on vent the entire time or i like to use a glass lid.
      It takes much more water to steam but i just put 2 cups of rice in steam mode for 15 or so minutes and its so good!

      @@TheOnlyChrisB ,
      See, that makes sense, but any info I've seen, they say comes to pressure. I think I saw something from Instantpot as well, but since they basically tell new owners nothing, who knows? Thanks.

      Thats one of the many reasons why i switched to a ninja foodi once the price dropped down on a used one lol. The ninja cooker manual shows when in steam mode make sure the lid is im the vent position.
      To make it easier for myself i bought the optional glass lid and do soups and the rest. It would be nice if they just updated the rice button to not be stuck at 12 mins lol

      @@TheOnlyChrisB ,
      I am trying to use the steam function on my instant pot now, and it's trying to pressurize. Bummer, I broke my lid, and they don't have a replacement for the 10 quart, so I was hoping to use all the functions but pressure.
