Wenn ich dem Libretto folge, war Violetta bereits in der jüngsten Vergangenheit heftig erkrankt, der einzige, der dies empathisch würdigen wollte, war der verliebte Alfredo. Dass Edita Gruberova schwor, die Finger, die Stimmbänder von Rollen wie Violetta und Norma zu lassen, hinderte sie nicht, beeindruckende Versionen dieser Meisterwerke zu hinterlassen. Auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Kunst und technischen Meisterschaft, nein, definitiv nicht darstellerisch, gibt sie einen brillanten Eindruck, was denn wäre, wenn. Hier habe ich einfach wieder den Eindruck gesunder, praller Stimmschönheit, fsst wie bei Mirella Freni.

Fantastic execution, the vocal prowess are spectacular? Why not update the production to better suit the mature star? Are we not open minded enough these days to accept love between an older woman and younger man? President Macron, anyone? It's time. This will enrich and broaden the whole experience. Brava to Gruberova for doing this, now the director needs to step up.

Edita, Mariella e Luciana sono l'esempio di come cantare da Dio...ma basta per Traviata?...i loro acuti scintillanti, i fiati interminabili...non so....io preferisco ad esempio Ileana Cotrubas con i suoi fiati corti e gli acuti impiccati, proprio per dare la parvenza di malaticcio dall'inizio alla fine
