My father was severely schizophrenic and took his life around 3 weeks ago because it was too much for him. I know he is finally at peace and no longer suffering but damn I miss him so much. He always told me to watch this video but I haven't gotten the chance to until now. To have a small insight of what was going on in his mind made me emotional. God, I wish I could have done something to help him.

The most violence he got was in 2018 he would say so many bad words and laugh for no reason, and he would say he will buy a car, a big house and invent his own business but when he starts taking his medicines again he starts becoming better. He starts doing the negative things last year too, but it wasn't that really bad. He takes his medicine everyday. He still sometimes get halluncinations but not that much,

As someone who has to deal with hallucinations, I just want to thank everyone who tries to understand the struggle we go through on a daily basis. I would never expect someone to fully understand what it's like, but the fact you're trying actually helps us to not feel ashamed about what we go through, and helps with our healing process. Just my take on it, thank you ❤️

      @a11an72 ปีที่แล้ว

In the beginning God created man for us to be an expression of His will and nature, but in our free will we fell in sin, immediately after the fall of sin we see Gods love revealed when He prophecies about the restoration of the relationship between God an man when He says: «The seed of the woman will crush the head of the snake» , and this is a prophecy about the virgin birth of Jesus and how Jesus will come and put and end to the devil and sin and ultimately the enmity between God and man for those who receives Jesus as their savior, this is fulfilled in the the Bible verse John 3,16 : «For so did God love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life»
So if you seek Jesus you will find Him, and if you receive Him as your savior and turn from sin you will be saved !
«For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. 14And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations»
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[e] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”[f]

John Smith The worst part is the lack of services and space for the mentally ill to go. There is not enough funding for clinics. specialists, supportive housing etc. Letting people with severe mental health issues fend for themselves. Doesn't help that the medications alone are ridiculously priced. Many unable to afford them. The system needs to change. I forgot the percentage but many inmates have mental health disorders. They certainly are not getting the treatment that need there.
It's infuriating. I struggle with depression and horrible insomnia. Went to pick up a new med of Seroquel XR to help with mood and sleep. 659.00 bucks for a month. I couldn't get it....

The best help everyone has the ability to give someone suffering, is have a conversation with them as a normal person. It's kinda ironic, just today walking to store to buy smokes (bad habit I know) I walk past a semi holiday inn style retreat for people with mental illness. As I walked by a man with fully bandaged legs and in a wheel chair calls me over, he seems ok and lucid so i go say hi. The guys been under a few days isolation due to a mental break (linked to schizophrenia) in which he started to burn himself feet up. All he wanted, was a smoke and a chat. So we chatted for near 45 mins. Intelligent, well centered man., You can tell he would only hurt himself let alone a fly when he has his mental breaks. I can tell by his reaction and the convo, that that 45 minutes made his entire day.
Just because we're not doctors can;t mean we can;t give the best medical treatment available - time, company and a smile.

ben Smith Yes! Right on point Ben. I worked at a homeless shelter in Seattle. Looked very intimidating at first. After getting to know everyone, I realized that just being called by their NAME meant something to them. Like you said to just chat and joke around meant the world to alot of them. When you're looked over or looked down on so often, being treated like a human being is golden. I met some of the best people working there. People with incredible stories and talents. Some very ill and some just down on their luck. It opened my eyes and I'm glad I had that experience. Sounds cliche but kindness can make someone's day.

It's come to the point where people advise you NOT to dial 911 if a loved one is acting strangely or threatening suicide...there's a good chance with the erratic behavior that brings, the mentally ill person will be shot. You're supposed to get them to the nearest hospital if at all possible, by any means necessary.

As a diagnosed schizoaffective person, i was quite impressed with mr cooper's "exercise in empathy." The hallucinations in this video are referred to as a "running commentary" in the mental health vernacular. "Creepy" is certainly one apt descriptor! "Delusional" is the textbook name for the symptom...
Thank you for helping battle the stigma of this worldwide health problem! 😃

When I was a Special Education teacher a few years ago, I had two young adult students who were diagnosed schizophrenic. They were at the same time both my most challenging students and my favorite students. Their daily battle just to get through an 8 hour day was commendable. Although their mental health rarely allowed them to practice cooperative behaviors, it also created in them great appreciation for the rare incidents of positive cooperative interactions.

Well my girlfriend lives with her mother who is a paranoid schizophrenic.... they were getting along pretty good as long as her mom was staying with her medication..... then she got her mom a caretaker so she could finish going to college.... and that was the beginning of their horrible problems : the caretaker was young and bought some weed over for her to smoke.... the mother went off her meds and started selling her stash of whatever drugs she had.... I don't know if that was sleeping pills , anti-anxiety pills or what but she started selling them to buy more weed.... she stopped eating all the healthy food in the refrigerator and had the caretaker buying her cupcakes , cookies all kinds of junk food and crap ..... her mom gained back a hundred pounds that they had worked so hard for her to lose .
Anyway her mom got worse and worse started acting like a kid herself getting nasty and vicious.... well there's a lot more to it and tonight she had to hide in the bathroom to get away from her mom who was really scaring her .
I tried to tell her number of times over the years to try to get her on large doses of niacin also called B3 .
Her mom only just started taking her meds again recently and is not on all of them .
She just told me she's probably going to have to have her 302d tonight..... I feel so bad for both of them .
Her mom kept thinking someone was hiding in the apartment and has even had the cops there several times in the past few days looking through the closets and what not.... she swears there's somebody in the cell phone giving her daughter commands and she's not referring to Google or TH-cam but she thinks there's actually an entity in the phone like a demon .. just very scary stuff .

Several months back I was in a psych ward of the hospital for an eval because I was suicidal. There was someone else there in a separate room who was schizophrenic. I could hear his shouts and screams the entire night, and I felt so terrible for him. All I could think about was how exhausting it must be to have to live with a mind like that.

    • @CarolsVideos

Same. But in my case it was a woman. At one point it was very strange because she was talking to herself, or I should say she was talking to one of the voices, and at some point she mentioned something about me that no one in the facility would have known. Something about toothpaste. I don't remember specifically but it was very strange. Later on she was screaming and having an episode yelling " NO NO NO" and not wanting to give her address to one of the voices. This thing with her address was a reoccurring thing. As you said it must be so exhausting. They literally never get a mental break, which is already enough to drive someone insane.

It's not something that can be cured, that is the problem. Essentially, this is the person how they are, it's not that they are sick with a bacteria or virus or something that can be surgically corrected. The best response is to alter the person's mind in a positive direction, to have the voices be positive, as they are essentially the thoughts of the patient's mind. Positive thoughts will produce positive voices.

However, even I still know what praying does, or the actual comment of saying, "I pray for the people" or "I'll keep you in my prayers". It is doing several things, the most obvious is that it lets the person/people know that you are thinking of them and that you wish them well. I'm not going to teach you anymore, so figure out the rest on your own.

The voices would be constant and I would argue with them and I could at times see phyical bodies that identified with the voice and I could feel them touch me. I would talk constantly be fighting for my life thinking I had gained telekinetic powers and people hacked into my eyes and could see outside them and could also read my thoughts. I could hear people say things they didn't actually say and see them do things they weren't actually doing.

Dawn Dayton Please tell someone that you feel you can trust, and ask them to help you see a doctor. If you don't feel that the doctor diagnosed you correctly, get a second opinion. Then accept the diagnosis, and let a few loved ones know. Most important, STICK WITH THE TREATMENT! Rely on your loved ones for help, but realize you will need treatment for life.
Regular exercise, a good diet, plenty of sleep, and reduced stress will all minimize your need for medication, but will never eliminate it. Less medication means fewer side-effects, so you'll likely stick to your program. It might take a year or two to really feel "normal", but you'll still have bad days. Let your loved ones know how much appreciate them.
      All the best!

I've lived with schizophrenia for 15 years and this isn't really what it's like, for the most part. The voices are usually relevant to your situation and it's usually only one at a time, but not always. When he was trying to make the boat, that's usually what it's like for me. Also, talking to other people tends to quiet the voices. Makes it easier to stay in touch with reality to talk to an actual person.

See it was completely different for me. I’d hear one voice commenting on what I was doing, another voice saying exactly what I was thinking at the time and at least 4-10 others in the background both voices I recognised that belonged to people I knew and ones I didnt recognise all talking about random shit or having their own conversations about whatever they wanted and nothing I did made it better. I found that any ambient noise or music made it worse liek my brain was turning abstract sound into voices. I almost had a heart attack the first time I turned on my hair dryer when Id started hearing voices because as soon as I did they started just yelling loud AF over the top of the sound of the hairdryer. It’s funny how it can be so different for different people.

they actually did brain scans and when a person with schizophrenia heard voices, the same areas lit up that do when people hear someone talking...(it isn't just hearing voices in their heads, to them, it actually sounds like voices outside their heads.) I did a similar exercise, the tape was made by voice hearers in NZ...it is so hard to concentrate - people with schizophrenia just amaze me at what they do manage to accomplish each day. If you want to try something similar... sit opposite someone, then have a person either side of you talking in each ear as you try and chat with the person opposite you... oh and as a point of interest, a friend who has it said, when he is well, he would rather his voices (which aren't as bad/negative when he is well) than my depression/anxiety/PTSD - yet i was always saying 'i "just" have those things...a matter of perspective but he also knows about the black abyss of depression.....the guy who did the workshop i attended to do this exercise, also told us what he learned about his 'voices' which aren't always voices but can be sounds like hearing rats scratching in the walls etc....he told us where he found they had come from...so fascinating...i hope things like this can spread more awareness, lower stigma and create more empathy to not only people with schizophrenia but all mental illnesses....xox take care of yourselves and your mental health...it is ok to not be ok and to ask for help...you deserve it

I knew right away what he had. I would tell my mom but should just shrug it off, I'd tell my dad but he would be in denial or didn't wanna believe me when I'd tell him " I think he might have schizophrenia" he would say "no its because he's Fu^*#g high!!" I was so frustrated because I knew my brother needed help but they didn't wanna believe me. Now he's locked up doing 15 to life because of what this illness made him do and was not getting the help he needed because my mom thought he was all better and didn't need his pills anymore.

But yeah, the negative voices suck. That is what is considered a positive symptom, however, along with other hallucinations commonly associated with schizophrenia.

Liam Vertal It actually does. The number of fatalities of people with mental illness, especially when they are acting erratically or strangely like psychosis in schizophrenia and mania in bipolar disorder are rising at an extremely rapid rate. A lot of mental health providers tell you not to call the cops because fatalities can happen and do so frequently. When you dial 911 when your loved one is threatening suicide or acting unstable, you will NOT get an ambulance or actual help. You get cops who are taught to shoot to kill if they feel threatened. You're advised to get them to a hospital by any means necessary...even though that's really hard. In some places there are mental care places that can help but they aren't widespread enough. It's the sad truth.

They hardly got it right. Because what really makes it annoying, creepy and distracting is the fact that the voices you hear, KNOW what you are seeing, feeling and doing. And sometimes they would even say the exact words BEFORE you write it down, type it or say it out loud. And then they would laugh at you, degrade and judge you even for the THOUGHTS that pass through your head. And the latter, makes you want to fight with them and convince them that your thoughts do not define you. And the more you entertain these voices, the louder and more frequent you get to hear them and the lesser you'll be able to sleep or have a moment of silence and peace.

The thing about Schizophrenia is there are times when it is so disturbing at times that you just burst out shouting at them to shut up but the voices won't shut up at all . Then there are times they have funny conversations with you . These are the times I engage with them without resisting it . Yeah , I take medications to control it , but it all comes down to you resisting them and ignoring them , becuase medication can only get you that far . Now , I'm living without medications to see how far I can go , yeah , they haunt me at times but never ever in a manner where they are loud or persistant . Usually just subtle voices . I'm not as depressed as I was or paranoid . When it was at it's worst back then , I swear I saw a face on top of my face . And I can adopt that face's personality and act in the way they behave , it can be somebody I knew or a stranger , totally scary TTM .

This video made me cry, I have a 9 yr old son who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder at 6 yr old. Which is extremely young but not completely unheard of. Even as an toddler he would scream and pull on his ears. I thought it was an ear infection and that the drs were lying when they said he was fine. He's been hospitalized 4 times even with a great support system. It breaks my heart to see him go through so much and never be able to hear or see or understand what my baby is going through. I just wish there was more I could do and it's nice NOT to see all of the ugly comments I sometimes come across.

The big failure for us as collective fellow community members and a supposedly society of solidarity and care for eachother and ourselves - is that someone actually have to say that. *_Donate._*_ To mental health._
Its extra god damn awful in the US, but it's an issue most other places too. Even among western societies with strong universal healthcare, mental health is severely underserved in many of those places. Often not really "catching" or facilitating help for anyone, until they're "psyciatric care material". And still, many reaching those levels of struggle, go without help, tratment and approproate care.

i lived in a homeless shelter. One woman was NOT medicated and she had schizophrenia and was truly suffering. When she was lucid and not screaming, or singing very loudly and poorly, she was really nice and good to talk to for a brief time. I wanted to help her so badly because I knew the shelter was being paid a decent amount of money for her to be there so they didn't send her to the facilities where she COULD get medicated. It's always ALL about money! I think it is disgusting that people care so little about others. They let us suffer upstairs in the hottest days of summer with no AC, AND we weren't, for some asinine reason, allowed to have fans. WTF?
