@Hugh Ropp Psychos run the world. The Bush family were the ones publicly pushing for the NWO on fcking international TV, and they are psychotic warmongers. Also funny how she mentions that some forms of military training create Sociopaths, considering that MKUltra and Project Phoenix were used for just that (look up Dr. Lieut. Comdr. Thomas Narut who exposed the US Navy's human experiments on this). These programs have also created serial killers that terrorized US citizens (The Unabomber, BTK, Zodiac Killer, Gary Heidnik, The Night Stalker, etc).
i just dated a sociopath for 7 months....they make you feel like you are crazy and do such insane stuff with the craziest excuses a normal person will have his head spin....it becomes a parody of a life...get out while you can!
Muddied the water for me even more. If his mom was also one or the other but also created him and pandered to is pathological behavior, I’m still uncertain.
All behavior is a result of environment. There are no babies born with types of behavior. They don't want it disclosed that the monetary system imposes structural violence which makes a psychopath. And rewards them lavishly for it. Albert Fish was not born the boogey man! He was made that way over time, as a result of a distorted violent upbringing. It was researched by Fredric Wertham. Show of Violence it is called.
But I don't see how a sociopath can learn from environment to not have a conscience. Everything I have ever read or heard states they are born without a conscience. If they learn to not have a conscience would mean they have one to start, there for they aren't a sociopath.
I really don’t like this women she said nothing but inaccurate stereotypes about people who are afflicted by mental illness. People who are afflicted only want to feel normal and not alienated from society for being different
Yeah but I genuinely felt like this guy was a true sociopath getting a thrill from meeting a psychologist face to face and seeing if he could dupe her. Not only that, but the idea that if he can dupe her, he can use these lessons to get better at being a glib sociopath. Or psychopath, not sure. But basically there's a reason why these people cannot be brought into therapy, and that is because they see the whole world solely through the eyes of power and control, like a game. This is why I despise people calling sacred things like love and life "the game" because it's a very shallow and sociopathic, quite frankly demonic, view of the world, like the way criminals call drug dealing and RICO tier stuff "being in the game." So as a result of that, you can't really deal with these people in the usual routine. It is however theoretically possible to catch one of them young and just deal with them as they are to become a more useful member of society who's not as much a real danger, but you positively cannot do this through the eyes of emotions and empathy. What you need to do is remember that any therapist type of relationship they are going to view this as you trying to control them, and that is why you have to give them as kids as much of their own agency as possible and consequences for their actions without it feeling like you're controlling them. If you do, they're simply going to find a way to subvert you, and use the "therapy" as lessons in being an even better psychopath than before.
@@skullxwrapper9968 one cold fact is that certain differences must be alienated but since it sound inhuman and remorseless people abandon that way. But some actions needs to be remorseless inorder to be right.
Be married to my ex wife and youd experience it first hand. Her mother is even worse and I firmly believe she murdered her husband 19 years ago because she didn't need him anymore and it was time to move on.
I think it’s because she was speaking in a way that suggested she was trying to elicit a response, so he thought if he didn’t respond it would be impolite.
Every single human being out there is wounded and traumatized. The key is, have they or are they actively working on healing their wounds and traumas? Are they evolving and developing healthier coping mechanisms?
Except the world isn't full of any of those, and the people you label as narcissistic, psychopathic, and sociopathic are probably complaining about the same thing
I've watched a few of his videos he always does this, I think he's trying to show interest, acknowledgement and some understanding rather than intentionally interrupting and being rude.
should have put a better interviewer...he seems like over acting and perhaps not really fit for such an interview...would be great if it was just her in this video
Dr. Ramani is on the world stage as THE expert in Narcissism. She has been making waves in this Mental health arena for years. I am so happy she's getting world renowned recognition for her life's work. Read her new book, "It's Not You" -- so so good and insightful. A must read! (And I'm not someone who leaves book reviews because I'm lazy lol) This book is that good! Thank you so much MedCircle and Dr. Ramani for helping millions!

I won't say you to trust me on this but there are many videos which explains like she did. Even better then her too. I think people loved her including me because of the way she talks. She clearly is passionate and loves to explain. Btw I encountered only one video in TH-cam about mental disorders that what effing irritating. Nothing i learnt from it. Only ads.
If you knew both, the difference between them is obvious. The non-sociopath narcissist (NSN) is strictly manipulative to get what they want from you. Yes, they may hurt you in the process, but that was not the goal . The sociopath enjoys putting you in pain even if it doesn’t benefit them in any way. My NSN mother will never apologize, but noticeably tries to defend her actions not just to others, but to herself. If she does something objectively bad and called out on it, she may acknowledge it is bad but blame others… or fall back to a demented reality where it didn’t happen that way. Her dementor stays the same as she is always the victim. My sociopath sister will pretend to be innocent at first, but then if called out she will completely change her demeanor and be like “yea, I did that and you deserve it”. Like she caused my 5 yr olds first (and last) planned birthday party to be cancelled a few years ago and make excuses but when I said “If you are doing this to my child to get back at me, you are evil” she didn’t deny it. She was offended that I call her evil. Years before, She demanded that I apologize to her for having a miscarriage after accusing me of faking it. Where my NSN mother didn’t support me at that time (and may have been happy since she hates my husband), she at least tries to make the reasons she treats me poorly sound reasonable if said out loud. My sister didn’t care. Where I know my narcissist mother would probably try to save me if hanging from a cliff (so I could owe her the rest of my life), I think my sister would just push me and savor that moment in her memory.
Some narcissists will feign remorse (or empathy even) as a manipulation tactic to keep you close. The ones who lack it altogether (Psycho/Sociopaths) can learn it like a skill if it gives them an advantage... But to your point, they don't typically give sincere apologies, if any. They make excuses, gaslight, blame others to avoid accountability. Only sorry they got caught.
I'd say those characteristics are prerequisites to getting the job. They are anesthetized to an endless national debt to get their way. No politician has made any effort the whistle on Jeffrey Epstein.
give it a rest all of you. Would any young woman date a potential schmuck like that\? Probably not. Who cares what kind of interviewer he is. She just needs the question and provides the answers as we know it so far. My sister has done it after 17 years of stealing and put her in a home and she died in 2 weeks from inability to want to live eat begged to go back home. She stole her property and real-estate and got rid of her for money. Then came to Missouri from doing that in California and killed and abused my mother 4 year's as go. Just sitting there at lunch after her death a few weeks later she said matter of factly that quote...::"I'm so glad I finally got rid of that f...g bitch. She gave away my favorite jacket in 7th grade. I hated her and I'm glad she's gone".

My ex threatened to make me disappear all the time ... if I displeased him he made something that was my favorite or that i had sentimental attachment to disappear to make his point.
The comment about "white collar" is so true. I'm 4+ years into lawsuits against the psycho/socio attorney who took advantage of my wealthy elderly mother in the final years of her life. After she passed, his explanation of estate plan basically went like this "I knew you mother better than any of you, you'll get what we give you and you'll like it. If you don't like it, get a lawyer and try to sue the trust." So in Feb 2019 I got an attorney and after years of hard work and $100k's spent, we are close to having him convicted of fraud for stealing nearly $1M from our family. The guy has no remorse and continues to do everything in his power to abuse and stall due process in the court system. What's really messed up is my family isn't the first to sue him! There was an article written in Forbes in the early 2000's about him being sued by another family, yet the nationwide law firm he works for continues to keep him on staff because he's charming and a good earner. It makes me want to throw up.
So sad. But I like to thank you very much for fighting and not putting up with their evil bs. My grandfather had back surgery but the Dr got tired or something and stopped half way through. Which lead to my grandpa never walking again. My grandmother at the time tried talking to a lawyer or someone about the case and mentioned it would take 100s of thousands of dollars just to try and sue.. now this was probably 10 years ago now and from my grandmother's words .. so I might be off with a few things but I believe her.. thank you again for fighting for the little guys 🤠✌🏼

Layne Carper that’s not tru. Not all of them are dangerous. Just because they have the diagnosis doesn’t mean they’ll cause mayhem. That’s another misconception about them. More often than not they mind their own business.
Now I understand why my ex husband was diagnosed psychopath and narcissistic. I still struggle to grasp every little abuse that I went through because of his mental disorders but I did a lot of progress these past two months
@Daniel-oe9si For the future, try not to respond to something you know nothing about. My circumstances, my experiences. Try being 6 mths pregnant on a waterbed and being held down while having the life choked out of you….yes honey, that’s a psychopath. So unless your sister beat you or something, you’re not healthy.
So it seems like a narcissist is just full of themselves but they have emotions. A psychopath is born with no emotions and learns to act like a normal person and a sociopath is a normal person that learns to act like a "psychopath".
I didn't see the interviewer as being fake, but more like being overly expressive with a childlike curiosity and fascination, but with a low awareness of how he comes across.
I mean, there’s no thing to argue with how the man inquire or how he talks, but in my opinion, he just want to elaborate the topic for the viewers to absorb the topic articulately. There shouldn’t be hate here. Besides, that’s his expression and humans have different expressions too. Perhaps, it’s just their emotions who make them to dislike him.
@DT Undercover Asperger’s syndrome is a type of autism that starts from the early age of an individual and in his case, he is just REALLY entertained naïvely from what he is absorbing.
@DT Undercover I reckon that you need some tough enlightenment. You have still a lot of time to absorb knowledge from anyone. From your point of your brother being moderately autistic can be a true if he is just two years old or less but proving that the interviewer has Aspie is a false accusation because according to such particular studies that autism or any kind of autism cannot be obtained during adulthood, if it is developed, then it is a rare case. This is an argument also, and ad hominem is for the weakest people who can’t prove their point right.

It's the editing. It shouldn't cut to him as much. An interview is about the person talking, the audience doesn't need to see the interviewer or reactions. It's distracting and unintentionally makes it comical. Not mention the wide shot is super awkward because they're a mile away.
I can really relate to the struggle against the confusing mind games of a narcissist. It's like walking through a maze where the walls keep shifting. Your story resonates deeply because, like you, I felt so isolated, doubting my own reality, as if my confidence was slipping through my fingers.
My ex wife was either a psycho or narcissist. Someone who couldn't see past herself. She would bait me into arguments until I realised she enjoyed hurting me. She later moved into another phase where she slept around and so forth. I chose to ignore her antics. We finally found a good marriage counsellor who knew how to deal with her. My exe decided to end the marriage. In her eyes all that transpired was my fault and I had kidnapped the kids. She took all our savings because she thought she deserved it and I inherited the kids. I got the better part of the deal even though I worked three jobs to care for them and pay for their education. The best thing that came out of this disaster was a painful rearrangement of my priorities. Wealth, house etc come second to kids and family. Today I'm very close to my kids even though they're grown up and have left home. They are professionals in their chosen fields and successful in life.
Most of the time women will get borderline personality disorder diagnostics. It's kind of the feminine equivalent of the narcissistic personality. Eternal victims of everything, while antogonizing those who surround them. These personalities are really hard to "enjoy". You must draw a hard line with them and stick to it, or they will eat you up! They can't help it, but they're social vampires. Good for you, life must be so much better now.
Just adding my 2 cents here, but I think a psychopath's greatest weapon is society's unwillingness to believe he / she is capable of being that way (ex: "Oh, she's SO sweet and friendly; how could anyone accuse her of murder?"). I think this is especially true if the psychopath is young, attractive, female, disabled, or elderly, or holds a trusted position such as a law enforcement worker or a medical worker.
Man, a lot of women are disabled because of car accidents when they are young. After they become disabled, they want to be attractive because they need energy and they cannot afford to look sloppy and untidy. Old psychopaths are dangerous, too. Why are you so attracted to young attractive women and imagine that they are killers? Old people could be sweet and friendly. Men are ugly and rough. I don't think that means that men are safer to be with. Attractive men, old men, rough men kill people, too, especially they kill women.
Watch for if someone talks differently to some people than he does others. Watch if someone can easily get other people to do things for them without any authority. Watch if someone is hyper dominant. Watch if you start getting a slight resentment towards someone and you find yourself talking yourself out of avoiding them. Watch if someone mentions violence while they’re not in a fit of rage. Watch the eyes man, if you’re talking about something emotional and they’re sitting there looking like they’re just thinking without much of an expression and their comments get a slightly question like tone then it could they’re faking it til they make it and are analyzing you. Obviously if someone does a few of these it doesn’t automatically mean sociopath. It’s honestly really hard to spot one immediately, especially in the moment. It’s usually about trusting your gut feeling and genuinely considering this when you look back on someone. You really want to spot a sociopath and especially a psychopath in your life before they make it clear and they will. They work by moving from group to group, environment to environment. They’ll stay somewhere for a while but eventually they’ll be found out and move, leaving everyone fucked over. This is hard cause sometimes these people will figure out what you need and make you feel good. All you have is a gut feeling and honest analysis
Let’s take a moment to appreciate how well-spoken this woman is, she presents her ideas in such a beautiful way and is so clear and certain. Edit: I appear to have been misconstrued in several ways and would like to clarify that the nature of my comment was purely complimentary and was not intended to be condescending. I was simply acknowledging how this individual speaks with such clarity. I am not familiar with her work outside of this video and thus apologies for any references that may have unintentionally been made. The race and gender of this person also had nothing to do with my comment, and I will continue to stand by that. Besides, I am only fourteen, and do not intend what-so-ever to offend people with my words, I am simply making a simple compliment on the nature of her speech. Finally, I was not referring to the validity of the claims, I was referring to the verbal cohesion of her ideas. I hope this helps

Wow! That all makes perfect sense to me. I was adopted to my evil aunt. She showed symptoms at the age of 8 when my birth mother was born. I was the family scapegoat, my twin brothers the golden children, my adopted dad the enabler. Narcissist never seemed to go far enough for me. My youngest son had difficulties throughout childhood. I finally linked my son's behavior to my adopted mother. I am definately an empath, a sensitive, intuitive. Apparently it skips generations. I always felt like I was surrounded by crazy people, and I was.
I feel like the interviewer is trying to mask something with his overly exaggerated mannerisms. The doctor must have placed him in at least one of the three diagnosis.
Thank you so much for this video. It’s on point 100%. This is a great content. Dr. Ramani Durvasula does an amazing job explaining the differences between a psychopath, sociopath and a narcissist. The irony is that all the people calling the interviewer dumb are the reason he had to ask the “dumb” questions. It took me 12 years to finally confirm my wife was a narcissist and she was having an affair. Needless to say I was double devestated. Devestated my wife was unfaithful and devestated the woman I loved was never real. It literally was like she died, I grieved accordingly
The antisocial personality; I displayed all of the behaviors she described as a young boy. I skipped school, was angry & violent towards others, I stole & had a fascination with fire too. I was on Ritalin for having ADHD and another drug called melaril which I didn't realize until just recently is an antipsychosis medication. All of this before I was even 13. I lived in a boys home for over 4 years because I was a troubled youth. But I thank my mom for seeing the signs early enough & having the courage & ability to get me help before I could have done something horrible.
It took me until the age of 30 to realize my behavior was outside the norm. I grew up with a father that displayed psychopathic traits, except for anything relating to crime. My mother has a good idea of my fearlessness, like inserting broken glass into my nose at the age of 4 (thankfully she removed it and nothing bad happened) and my violent behavior towards animals and other kids when I was still in primary school. Fast forward to today and I‘ve had lifelong problems, like relating to people and inconsistencies in school and work. I‘ve been talking with two psychologists about this. The second psychologist thinks I might have a personality disorder. She told me that after just one visit. Personality disorder or not, I just want to get some closure to help me understand my way of thinking.

This video tells us the basic difference between a narcissist, psychopath and sociopath. A psychopath kills or commits a crime without sympathy because of their lack of emotion to understand and feel what the crime they commit leads to and what the consequences will be, they just don't care what happens whereas sociopaths are made because of the conditions of their surroundings or an incident which occurred in their childhood which had an impact on them and changed them into having no emotions or empathy. However a narcissist is someone who tends to do bad things but they feel shame and guilt after doing things like that, they don't want to look bad in society and lower their self esteem. Dr. Ramani explains these differences very well with simple examples. The interviewer could have been better. All in all it was a very informative video.
@cak01vej Maybe not higher IQ, but with no emotions in the way it makes it easier to do certain choices which could make them seem more intelligent. Someone that reacts from their emotions can do some really stupid stuff because they are not thinking clearly.

actually she's stating a lot of misconception and throwing out cognitive development. Also she's not emphasizing logic and prompting emotional reaction as a non antisocial behavior. Anti-social behavior are often exhibited by emotionally rooted behavior even if it is not apparently/physically portrayed. She also describes empathy based on a wildly refuted idea of empathy. Her idea of empathy is sympathy not empathy. Also her idea of sociopathic behavior does not take into context of a person's situation, especially poverty and other factors. Her generalization reminds me of a 3rd rate psychologist that practice clinical therapy not cognitive therapy or more advance and detail analysis.
Lol this comment. This tells me more about you than about nurses. 1) School is not the same as IQ. 2) School/high school/college is a privilege so please don't throw it around like it's a persons choice. 3) School is not the same as education. 4) For a person to be good at psychology, why are we even talking about IQ, how about EQ? So yes, this comment is in my opinion a very short-sighted comment. So I recommend to use all those school years and all the knowledge to just look a little further.
I feel like I was well on my way to becoming a sociopath in high school. Exactly like she says in the video, I was hanging around with the wrong kids because I was being bullied by the other kids. I was becoming more and more careless, emotionless and wreckless. I truly never saw myself becoming a normal member of society. I saw myself becoming a criminal. And I was completely okay with it because my numbness and carelessness shaped me into a pretty good thug. I also truly believed I wouldn't live to see 40 years old, and I was completely okay with that. I didn't give a shit. And I loved not giving a shit. I felt powerful, like the world was mine. Then I met my girlfriend at the last year of high school and over the course of two years, she changed my life. I cared for her a lot. And she cared for me. And this shaped the way for me to care more about myself and others as well. We've been together for 11 years now and my life has changed completely. Got a stable job which I love, a house and I spend every day with the love of my life. I'm truly alive now. However, I still feel like I'm always just an inch away from my old life. My ex is obsessed with narcissism. The irony is, she applies her “therories” to everyone else but herself. She can’t apply her “rules” to herself. It’s awful to hear her train of thought and logic. She’d say “a narcissist constantly accuses everyone else of being narcissistic.” I then point out that she is CONSTANTLY seeing narcissism everywhere, ergo, by her logic, she is narcissistic. She then accuses me of accusing her of being narcissistic, which in her mind makes me narcissistic (which is her claim in the first place). So many examples like this. She creates rules and moral laws and immediately exempts herself from them, but still applies then to everyone else.
That is the problem with this whole subject. It becomes an excuse to hide your own flaws and to avoid personal responsibility for the role you play in things. It has become all the rage in today's society and it is barely understood by these people who love to toss the term around without any discretion. EVERYONE has narcissistic traits naturally and it is only problematic when it is deep narcissism or when it is paired with psychopathy. Other than that it is a useless thing to focus on because people misapply it and hide behind it to avoid accountability in their lives. Sick people use it to excuse their own behavior and demonize others far too much. This Dr. here is one who has made a lot of videos on the subject without really explaining it as a natural phenomenon that is found in healthy people just as much as it is in others. They exploit the craze and trend without making things clear enough for it to be a practical understanding. It leads to this mess and I hate the way it has become so convoluted and meaningless as a term. It has gotten way out of hand and when I hear someone constantly identifying others as narcissistic it is a red flag that they have some deep core issues and I should stay away because they are the pot calling the kettle black most of the time.
The guys attitude seems like he’s hearing the craziest, most fascinating thing ever. It makes the condition seem more unusual and strange. Very off putting and almost kind of offensive
He’s acting very unnaturally because he’s uncomfortable. As my dad who is a trained psychologist said when I showed him “I would tentatively diagnose this man as a grandiose narcissist at least, perhaps bordering on sociopathy based on these interactions alone.”

Hi Klein. Nice to meet you. I did enjoy it (see above: " This is so, so good" ). I was just confused why the interviewer kept interrupting her mid-explanation. I was wondering if anyone knew the reason. Was this a certain kind of interview? Was this a show with a personality I was unfamiliar with etc? It eventually became really distracting and appeared to annoy the psychologist as well (see 6:15 for instance).
@Klein Bottle Maybe, but saying "why don't stop whining" doesn't sound like a very calm or polite reply either. And I agreed this is a very interesting subject and she explains it in a way that is easy to understand but is distracting to sed him interrupt her to the point she looks annoyed like at 6:14.
@Klein Bottle Lol there is no private conversations on the comment section of a video. If you post people are going to reply to you even if you don't like it xD But I congratulate you for making an less angry reply this time Now you can be more of a good person =D
I have been studying these antisocial behaviour types for a while. I agree with what Dr. Ramani says. However, I observed that most of us have a sociopathic element inside us. In many people we possess the ability to turn off our empathy if we need to. It enables us to kill in war and conflicts or when we go hunting for food. With a full sociopath, the on/off empathy switch tends to get stuck in the off position at inappropriate times.
The world 100% needs psychopaths!, they tend to be bomb disposal experts, fighter jet pilots & the likes due to the lack of fear. Not all psychopaths are 'bad' people. A very negative & one sided explanation.
Always wondered about myself being a sociopath because I could turn off my empathy towards those I came to hate. They could've even once been close friends or family members... Can you unlearn it?
I Agree! And just watching videos of Adults Bullying and Abusing others Emotionally & Mentally is Proof that there are a Lot of people who have diseased-minds! More adults & children are committing more crimes today, more than Ever! And despite the fact that Blacks have Dwelled on centuries-old Slavery, BLM, retaliating against Whites, etc Demanding more attention, More-Crimes have been committed by Blacks than any other race! WTH is going on with people's Paranoia, Hateful & Dangerous Behaviors & Attitudes? In what categories would people fit into? 😳😰😢

I got the same vibe with this guy. She is not as good as she thinks she is if she can't see what he is doing. He is playing to her ego and tries to learn from her how he can hide his disorders and better is manipilation skills He is doing a good job, she has got no clue!! LMAO!
Everybody thinks their ex-romantic partner is a Narcissist. They aren't. Its actually incredibly rare. The more obvious explanation is that we are all a little bit Narcissistic - especially a person who claims that others are that way.

Narcissism explanation was good, but it fell apart after that. She kept reverting back to textbook information and not fully explaining what they are, then saying things that are true also in neuro-typicals.
A cell phone is becoming the most important part of human’s life as each task can be made easy with it. The mobile phone offers a user to share digital information such as videos, audio, media files, and allow communicating in real time. Doesn’t matter how far is the person? You can easily connect with the person via a network and talk with them. In addition, you can experience smart phones and iPhone that include some features and great services that enable people to live great virtual life. Different mobile applications, instant messaging services, real time chatting apps and much more take people to get connected with people. But it coin has two different faces. Just Contact Virtualcodecrack.net and they won't let you down.
They just do it and just dont care. Thats exactly right. No amount of talking, pleading, negotiating, setting rules will change their behaviour. They will do what they want and are 100% change proof. For 2 years i tried to talk to gently change behaviour and only after 2 years did i find out none of it got through. They understand. But don't care. Its worse if they have hystrionics as well, the self pittying and pointing fingers to others whenever they get told off again is insufferable.
I enjoyed watching the two together, I thought they had good rapport and I did not notice the interruptions myself. Edit: Seems like you were not the only one bothered by his style though.
duedah You don't know what a Narcissist is. A Narcissist can think for himself but dominates those who can't think for themselves. He's obviously not a Narcissist since he didn't know the difference.
My mother and her father are raging narcissists with a complete lack of empathy for anyone but themselves. It's hard to grow up along these people because they will make you feel like everything bad that is happening is somehow your fault even if you are not involved at all. The manipulation I went through is really hard to overcome but I'm getting better at recognizing what is actually my fault and things that just happen to happen to me.
Same here but know this about yourself, you learn those same behaviors from them. Learn to spot the characteristics and work on it because even if you don't become like they were it will effect your life. You cannot help but pick up the traits to some degree because you grew up in that household.
My mom same. I was vilified my entire childhood and most of my adulthood. It was cheaper to get a degree in psychology than pay for the therapy 😅 Mom “suffers” from narcissism and NONE of it is my fault. Same your you. Your folks are ill, and you are a victim of their illness. I hope you get the support you deserve. My heart goes out to you. Stay strong ❤
I'd like to say something about sociopathy. I was diag. APD when I was around 13. Literally didn't give 2 shits about anything or anyone. Was cruel to others, didn't care much for animals though I didnt go out of my way to hurt them like Bundy etc. I was obsessed with serial killers. I could easily have killed people had it not been for the unwanted prison time. I never felt empathy or remorse only anger or dysphoria. Then something illegal happened, and I met a very capable think outside the box court ordered Mental health counselor who actually took the time to try and help. Over time and with a very unique approach I actually LEARNED empathy. Or more accurately I remembered it. As a former sociopath I started life fairly normal n happy. Then at about age 2 my family life detonated and had zero stability and grew up seeing violence and horrors no kid should see. So my brain responded by turning me into a little antisocial personality monster of sorts. Anyway, through hypnosis, talk therapy, touch therapy (animals etc) , and sensitization methods I slowly came back from it. The really odd thing (in a good way) is that I am now quite a sensitive person and have a deep love of animals, the planets wonders and even quite a few people. People were the hardest part, as I absolutely loathed my fellow man for so long. I only mention this because I think we as a society too easily wish to discard those we think of as "too broken" to fix. While I know I am probably a rare person that has been "cured" of a MH disorder most Psychiatrists would consider to be a terminally mentally ill variety I believe that is an unfortunate view. I believe others could benefit from therapy similar to what I benefitted from. It can take years, and the person has to be open to it. Has to want better for themselves but it is possible. It's a nurture vs nature thing and can be reversed. Unlike Autism it is a learned condition. Genetic predisposition aside, it isn't a must get or must live with thing either. I am now 12 years APD free and loving it. I am proud to be empathetic!🐶
*Timing of this video is so on point, I’ve been cheated on by my gf and i gave her 2nd chance but my emotions for her is slowly dying out (with all those fights we had as well) but now im mustering up all my courage to break up with her bec our personality as well is not a match. Thanks Brandon*
Its almost as if dating, courting and engagements evolved as a way to weed out all 3 personalities. Truly you don't know somebody until you know the worst things about them and it takes time.
She's the leading expert on narcissism, psychopathy, and sociopathy; watching her speak on these topics is always a great experience. 💯 She's super intelligent, fascinating, and (of course) beautiful. She brings a lot of knowledge to the table! 📚🧠📚
it's easy to understand because it isn't a very clinical or professional, she is giving a very inaccurate pop science description. there are a lot of falsehoods and misconceptions in what she is saying.
Vvvv Eeee, You condemned her explanations without nuance. I was curious to know what training and or licensing you had to back up such a sweeping statement. Specific points she was wrong on?
The best way I could summarize the cluster B PDs is: A narcissist might be aware that they’re causing harm and might care a little but they’re incredibly self absorbed therefore will continue causing harm it if benefits them. A sociopath is aware that they’re causing harm but does not care because circumstances outside themselves allowed them to develop an antipathetic attitude, therefore continue causing harm. A psychopath is aware that they’re causing harm but does not care because circumstances WITHIN themselves- that is, a structural deficit in their brain- allowed them to develop an antipathetic attitude, therefore continue causing harm.
Also, as with all things, there seems, based on the data and the nature of the tests ( some of which seem to have suspect biases, admittedly, regarding race, and other social/economic and circumstantial/situational factors ), to be a spectrum in the case of all three disorder types, ranging from borderline to the rare total and complete narc, sociopath or psychopath.
Sociopaths do not have empathy. All of them have exceptional cognitive empathy but zero emotional empathy. They are not the same thing. Cognitive empathy as Dr Ramani states allows then to sense their victims/targets wounds and vulnerabilities. All of them bar none use this ability for predatory purposes for the reason of exploitation. Malignant Narcissists, Psychopaths and Sociopaths do not have emotional empathy, one of the core reasons being they failed to complete object relations which occurs at around age 3. This is when the child separates from the mother and learns he/she is an independent entity from the primary care giver. Prior to that all children think all others are extensions of themselves there to provide or frustrate them with them getting their needs met. Completion of object relations leads to object constancy where the child is able to maintain an emotional connection to the mother/care giver even though the child may feel violated after being punished. Object relations and object constancy are the two core developmental stages that allow empathy to develop. Narcs, psychs and SP are unable to maintain this connection resulting in split thinking. They see others as either all good or all bad it's also referred to as black and white thinking. It's idealization and devaluation - if you discover you are in a relationship with one get out. None of them can be loved back into good health.
You are confusing both sociopaths and malignant Narcissists with psychopaths. Sociopaths are abnormally unempathetic, but it is a maladaptive conditioned response, and they are capable of limited empathy for small groups in their "inner circle". Malignant narcissists are also capable of empathy, Dr. Ramani even says so in this video, it's just, again, more limited than in a normal person, and it's pushed to the background of their own personal agenda, but they are not incapable of empathy. Only total psychopaths are truly incapable of empathy. Lumping generic narcissists and even some sociopaths in with extreme psychopaths is the very type of all or nothing black or white reasoning you are saying those groups have. Further, we know from ample studies that social ostracization is a severe form of emotional abuse with severe consequences, often worse than verbal or even moderate physical aggression and abuse; the average narcissist would also be highly susceptible/vulnerable to some of those abuse types, especially with their need for attention and validation; the same is true for people with borderline personality disorder, though in some ways that disorder is extremely different from narcissism. The only type of person who would not be hurt by ostracism and isolation is a full on complete psychopath because of their absolute lack of attachment ability and subsequent lack of capacity to form any type of meaningful relationship bond. Also, again, all of these things come in degrees, as with everything else. There are normal people with some narcissistic tendencies ( most people ), there are severe narcissists, there are sociopaths, and then there are levels of true psychopath. One also has to be careful to be situationally aware when trying to judge who does or doesn't have empathy. E.G., even normal people can have extremely diminished empathy in certain situations. Ordinary people can be very cruel and unempathetic under what we might call tribal conditions ( in example, the hatefullness ordinary people can show to those with extremely different ideologies, political views, theologies from their own, or to people whom they otherwise view as an antagonistic "other" ), and they can also be less empathetic than usual when in the heat of anger, in combative situations, or when they feel justified in their actions. Normal people can also behave unempathetically in certain "authorized" situations, as seen in the Milligan experiments. th-cam.com/video/JnYUl6wlBF4/w-d-xo.html Unfortunately, we as a culture are very guilty of the type of linear, black and white, saint or satanist, good or evil, all or nothing thinking that you described as a trait of narcissists etc. ( I would say a full psychopath probably doesn't think of anyone as good or bad, just useful or useless ). We are horrible at considering all the variables and complexities of the behavior of others. But only a very small percentage of people are true, total psychopaths, and putting anyone else in that category, anyone actually capable of at least some degree of empathy, and anyone who has at least some degree of normal need for human interaction and emotional attention ( including pretty much any narcissist who is not also a true psychopath ), is a form of demonizing; it is taking a seriously problematic person and pretending they are pure evil, so as to justify behaving with total apathy or cruelty towards them, and that is NOT good; it is exactly the way of lynch mobs ( who do atrocious things to "others", and, let's be real, not everyone in a lynch mob of hundreds can be a psychopath ), it is what leads to massive war crimes, it is how Hitler got entire legions of people ( again, it is not even remotely plausible that all of them were psychopaths ) to commit atrocious acts against other humans.
It's either the guy's responses & questions being recorded separately & then just edited in badly... Or his "wows" and "a-Haaas" (or whatever other weird noises he makes - he looks like he's on drugs!) are just meant as subtle comic relief for a reasonably intense topic.
I can't believe this woman hasn't published a book about these particular conditions. She's PHENOMENAL. I'm curious to know how somebody who is high-functioning autistic is kept from getting mis-diagnosed as having ASPD, though.
Knowing what to look for. There are actually quite a few key differences. For instance, while autistic people may feel disconnected from those around us and have difficulty understanding and explaining our emotions, we don't lack empathy. While we process guilt differently, it isn't so much "we don't feel guilty" as "this person is upset, I must have done something wrong." In other words, we are more likely to assume guilt whether it was actually our fault or not.
Show's how much they know ... psychopath isn't even a word, lol i made it up, (it supposed to just be Sociopath) i used to say it as a kid and people would always tell me it's not a word and it was wrong ... but i always said it anyways, cause it sounded funny. PSYCHOpath (from the alfred hitchcock movie PSYCHO) i used to say that to people when they acted crazy to make fun of them lol. Now it's a actual word and thing. Hahaha Just goes to show if you repeat something enough dumb people will believe it. th-cam.com/video/vqCDnwhF2Mg/w-d-xo.html Smart people will research the etymology of it and and all kinds of stuff cause they gotta have all the answers cause they know it all. Plus they fill in all the blanks. Funny thing is it's not like i tried to make people believe it. So if you want to know what a psychopath is just watch the old black and white move called psycho.
She is just talking psychopathy 101. Basic knowledge if you're a psychologist or into psychology. Plus, she is still making a few mistakes in her talk. Psychopathy is deep, and she just speaks of the surface (with mistakes). Robert Hare is the guru and founder of the research on psychopathy. He created the scale for measuring psychopathy called the Psychopathy Check List (PCL). His initial samples and trials were conducted on a prison population, but then had to be expanded to include those highly intelligent psychopaths who are able to remain beneath the legal radar. I am a psychologist, and I've been practicing forensic and clinical psych for over 15 years.
Sociopathy is a common trait among Cluster-Bs such as narcissists and borderlines. They are also empathetic, but not to feel and have compassion for others, but to feel and take advantage of other people's feelings.
It literally brought tears in to my eyes just by listning to it... I met more than one narcissist and sociopath... They can harm you in ways you can't even imagine.... Until you realize what happened...Its too late...

The statement, "A psychopath is born, a sociopath is made", clears up a lot of confusion for me.
psych = brain, socio = environment this helped me a lot
Actually they are finding brain ventricle differences I think now.

"Narcissism is a disorder of self-esteem" is something I've never heard but I think it's the best explanation ever

This woman knows her stuff and is an excellent communicator.
I agree. She explains things so that you and I can understand. It was great!
I really don’t like this women she said nothing but inaccurate stereotypes about people who are afflicted by mental illness. People who are afflicted only want to feel normal and not alienated from society for being different
I was literally thinking that. Her responses are so fulfilling
This is why I despise people calling sacred things like love and life "the game" because it's a very shallow and sociopathic, quite frankly demonic, view of the world, like the way criminals call drug dealing and RICO tier stuff "being in the game."
So as a result of that, you can't really deal with these people in the usual routine.

In the world full of narcissistic, psychopaths, and sociopaths, it's so hard to find a sane person to choose as your partner.

I never met a narcissist that was sorry for the damage they cause.
If they were sorry, they wouldn't be narcissists because being sorry makes people change
Exactly. In fact they always have someone they can blame for it
That explains our politicians, leaders and the elite in general.
I'd say those characteristics are prerequisites to getting the job. They are anesthetized to an endless national debt to get their way.
No politician has made any effort the whistle on Jeffrey Epstein.
It explains many poor people too. There's no stereotypes.

The statement "They will dispose of you if you get in their way" sent chills down my spine.
My sister has done it after 17 years of stealing and put her in a home and she died in 2 weeks from inability to want to live eat begged to go back home. She stole her property and real-estate and got rid of her for money. Then came to Missouri from doing that in California and killed and abused my mother 4 year's as go. Thank you for clarifying that. I was victim of a sociopath. But managed to stay alive. God helped me. Dangerous people with zero remorse
My condolences to your mother too!

I didn't see the interviewer as being fake, but more like being overly expressive with a childlike curiosity and fascination, but with a low awareness of how he comes across.
I have to agree with this statement.
@DT Undercover Too far.

You must draw a hard line with them and stick to it, or they will eat you up! They can't help it, but they're social vampires.

That's bc they're Sneaky, seem normal, but they do a lot of 'thinking' & planning.

Are you referring to Kyle the host?

Yes. That would be acting. Were you thinking that these people did not know they were on camera and had an audience?

But I thank my mom for seeing the signs early enough & having the courage & ability to get me help before I could have done something horrible.
How are you doing these days? Taking those drugs at such a young age, I wonder, do you use any drugs at all now? Recreational or prescribed?
So basically you were born a psychopath. I pray all is well with you and your family.

Sociopaths do have empathy however it is very minimal compared to a person deemed normal.

actually she's stating a lot of misconception and throwing out cognitive development.

Shane should’ve interviewed this Dr. Instead of the lady he interviewed about sociopaths
ikr
The lady he interviewed is qualified it's just that she was being very casual and dramatic so it didn't come across as professional at all so people doubt her information.
Lolli Pop some of the stuff she said was different than this doctor though
Lolli Pop i watch her and she is not qualified in that area since she is marriage councilor who also works with patients with eating disorders only
Omg 😂😂 shane
If every psychopath is also a narcissist, can the same they said about sociopaths?
Dr. Ramani is so empowering.
Wow. That was the best explanation I've heard regarding psychopath vs. sociopath. Fascinating.
Dr. Ramani: Good morning.
Interviewer: WOOOOOOwww
ROFL!
Ok it wasn’t just me I commented that too... he is so overly dramatic
for real 😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
lol
I absolutely love her! You can tell that she really enjoys what she does, she seems to really enjoy teaching it. And the fact that she breaks everything down so well so othes can understand is amazing!
She’s amazing.
My ex is obsessed with narcissism. The irony is, she applies her “therories” to everyone else but herself. She can’t apply her “rules” to herself.
It’s awful to hear her train of thought and logic.
She’d say “a narcissist constantly accuses everyone else of being narcissistic.”
I then point out that she is CONSTANTLY seeing narcissism everywhere, ergo, by her logic, she is narcissistic.
It has gotten way out of hand and when I hear someone constantly identifying others as narcissistic it is a red flag that they have some deep core issues and I should stay away because they are the pot calling the kettle black most of the time.
she uses word salad on you
The guys attitude seems like he’s hearing the craziest, most fascinating thing ever. It makes the condition seem more unusual and strange. Very off putting and almost kind of offensive
Maybe the information is new to him
He’s acting very unnaturally because he’s uncomfortable. As my dad who is a trained psychologist said when I showed him “I would tentatively diagnose this man as a grandiose narcissist at least, perhaps bordering on sociopathy based on these interactions alone.”
Wtf. It is Unusual AND Strange.

This is so, so good... but why does he keep interrupting her??
@Klein Bottle I am Alex Dorian. Lol and such a "nice" reply, I guess you are not a good person either =P
@Klein Bottle Lol there is no private conversations on the comment section of a video. If you post people are going to reply to you even if you don't like it xD
But I congratulate you for making an less angry reply this time Now you can be more of a good person =D
@Klein Bottle haha what is wrong with you? No offense.what is going on in your head? 😂🤣😅
Yeah.... I sometimes feel like ima Sociopath
Yes but you are referring to acute traits, not conditions.

Finally, an easy to understand definition of the difference between a narcissist, sociopath, and a psychopath. Way to go Dr. Ramani! 🔆
Everybody thinks their ex-romantic partner is a Narcissist. They aren't. Its actually incredibly rare. The more obvious explanation is that we are all a little bit Narcissistic - especially a person who claims that others are that way.
@@noahedelson3618 I hear you there Noah!! My ex has accused me of being narcissistic, and if that's not the kettle calling the pot black Idk what is!! Lol!
Narcissism explanation was good, but it fell apart after that. She kept reverting back to textbook information and not fully explaining what they are, then saying things that are true also in neuro-typicals.

OK, but would've been better if the interviewer hadn't interrupted her amidst several of her explanations.
I enjoyed watching the two together, I thought they had good rapport and I did not notice the interruptions myself. Edit: Seems like you were not the only one bothered by his style though.
Too many pointless cuts to the guy. Is he a narcissist?
I'm convinced they just have 25 different reactions that they filmed on set and they just randomly splice one in every now and then.

I'm a cynic. Do I have to go to physcotherapy, or worse?
Same here.
The way i've kinda always thought about empathy is that its attached to your emotions understanding someone else isn't always attached to emotions.
I think you have an amazing and touching story 😊 I hope others like you can learn from it and try to get the help they need.
Please let me know more about this! My nephew is wildly dis functional and I am hoping that he can be reformed

The best way I could summarize the cluster B PDs is:
A narcissist might be aware that they’re causing harm and might care a little but they’re incredibly self absorbed therefore will continue causing harm it if benefits them.
Great summary, thanks!
Anti-empathic*
Normal people can also behave unempathetically in certain "authorized" situations, as seen in the Milligan experiments. th-cam.com/video/JnYUl6wlBF4/w-d-xo.html
Unfortunately,
we as a culture are very guilty of the type of linear, black and white, saint or satanist, good or evil, all or nothing thinking that you described as a trait of narcissists etc.

I can't believe this woman hasn't published a book about these particular conditions. She's PHENOMENAL. I'm curious to know how somebody who is high-functioning autistic is kept from getting mis-diagnosed as having ASPD, though.
Shes an author
So if you want to know what a psychopath is just watch the old black and white move called psycho.
If you want to read books on this subject then get Robert Hare books, he is the leader in the field. A lot of what she says come from his work.
