    Realize this is a really old video so shot in the dark here...
    Does the polymer affect capability at all? Looking for a budget chassis as I cant afford another MDT chassis, so was looking at the Oryx, but the xray is intriguing with a little less weight.
    Ultimately would be going on a .300WM that I would like to use for hunting as well as long range.
    With the 2.4lb HS Precision stock it came with, it's already getting a bit hefty to carry for hunting due to the Sendero barrel, so this has peaked my interest.

      All of these chassis use an aluminum backbone or bedding block. So the plastic is just the part you are touching. Depending on the specific construction, you may notice a difference in the recoil impulse, but accuracy will be good with any of them.

    This chassis has everything I need and nothing I don't

    Awesome review once again John! KRG is lucky to have such a professional reviewing their product!
    This chassis is VERY interesting to me, from a weight and cost perspective..
    It might be a stupid question, but what mags does this chassis take? PMAGS?
    I would assume that a Rem. PSS LTR would fit this chassis nicely/function with the mags ok?

    I love this chassis do you yhink the R700 sps tactical 16.5" heavy barrel will fit into this chassis? If so this is the one I am going to get.

    Always come close to buying one but cant get my head arpund the fact the front and back section doesnt mate properly. The lines are off below the action and not straight. My OCD just cant get past it. Kind of looks like 2 different chassis front and back squished together at the magazine well.

    if you had to chose between this and MDT LSS.. what would you go for ?

    • @ajfam871
      @ajfam871 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am looking at both those chassis as well. I like the Xray because its longer to put your bipod out further and has a flat bottom make it easier tp shoot off surfaces. Also I like that its polymer exterior in case I bang it around. Anoth plus that is just mg preference is that I love the way this chassis looks. Good luck.

    • @RobertsGuns
      @RobertsGuns 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The KRG X-ray is more rigid and you will be able to mount a bipod further forward for more stability, whilst the MDT LSS is more modular. I just ordered the X-ray myself :)

    • @Shmeeps_phd
      @Shmeeps_phd 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Leon K They end up being almost the same price once you add the pistol grip and stock to the LSS. The X-ray is more rigid and has more mounting sections for accessories. it is also a bit longer so your bi-pod if further away. I see this as an advantage, but it's debatable. I'm going with the x-ray but the LSS does give your more customization with it's modular grip and stock system.

    • @EnterTheFenix
      @EnterTheFenix 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Leon K If you havent bought yet, MDT is making an LSS XL chassis with a longer fore end.. could be the ticket for you.

    • @trakkerp4202
      @trakkerp4202 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The actual direct competition from MDT is the HS3, similar design and a little less bulky. Here in Canada the MDT is easier to find and get due to not needing an importer as this does. Both are nice stocks but the KRG is too bulky for hunting.

    John, I'm working with a unmodified Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 with the junk Hogue stock and need to get consistent precision with it. It is for use as a LE sniper rifle. Would you recommend this chassis as a good replacement? I've been eye balling this chassis or possibly the KRG Bravo to drop the factory action/barrel into. What are your thoughts/recommendations? Do you know how a factory heavy barrel performs in this chassis? Thanks!

    Hey i have a question.
    I bought whiskey 3 gen 6 folding stock.
    Im very upset with length of pull part.
    To feel comfortable i need to pull out all the way but no matter how hard you tighten it still shakes.
    From customer service i received an answer dont pull all the way out.
    Now is it possible to replace folding stock to fixed stock from x ray shassi to my wiskey? Thank you very much?

    I have a rem 700 and a savage. Is there a reason most aftermarket chassis, stock manf don't make a system for the savage models? Lately I find myself enjoying my Savage over my Rem.
    I'm ready to do some up fitting on my rifles. What are the pros of going with a chassis system that I see a lot of guys running simular to this vs a more traditional setup
    Like a bell and carlson medaliat? Weight? I would assume the ergonomics are similar and I really enjoy the styling of the medalist.
    Sorry for all the questions but the only precision rifle info I'm able to get is from TH-cam or forums. Unfortunately I'm unable to put my hands on many setups.

    • @Wapitian

      Actually, the same company, KRG, just introduced a chassis for the Savage - the 180-A.

    • @TMS5100
      @TMS5100 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      probably because a lot of people buy savage because its cheap, and most chassis are expensive. xlr makes a great savage chassis though.
      also most savage shoot very well out of the box, whereas many remington 700 require modifications to get them to shoot well, and people buy remingtons expecting that.

    • @spraynpray
      @spraynpray 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thomas Jackson It's unrewarding for aftermarket parts guys to make stuff for Savages because Savage keeps changing their rifles. In their 10 (short action) and 110 (long actions) they have had controlled round feed, push feed, staggered feed, single feed, 4.425" action screw spacing, 4.440" action screw spacing, side bolt release, bottom bolt release, standard DBM, and Axis DBM, and far more.
      Go to Boyd's Stocks, and use the drop boxes on the top left. Select Savage in the first one. Then look at the options in the second one.
      So a company comes out with a part for Savage rifles, and then the next year Savage changes their gun and that part doesn't work anymore. If they quit that nonsense, they'd have a far larger market share. Lots of people buy rifles based on the available aftermarket for them.

    • @tomjjackson21
      @tomjjackson21 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      spraynpray I had no idea. It makes total sense though.. With Rem going through a rough patch and the quality of their product not what it used to be "imo" I was looking forward to building off my Savage action. With the Rem being as modular as it is its most likely the best bet. It's nice to know there is some options though. Tyvm for the comment.

    Hey john, I noticed at 1:28 your primers look to have been sealed by a sealant of some kind. I know you load your own ammo so I was wondering was this done by you or is this one of those times you were required to shoot factory ammo in a match somewhere? I am a reloader also and was considering the benefits of sealing my primers and wanted to know if you can give me any info on it?

    So the forend that comes on the X-ray is polymer correct? Did you have any/could you foresee any sag or flex in the forend when free floating a heavy contour barrel? I've had this problem with HS precision stocks.

    • @JohnMcQuay

      The forend is polymer, but it bolts to an aluminum backbone that actually makes up the barrel channel. No chance of any sag or flex.

      I'm talking about the forend it's self flexing. Not where it connects. I'd have to show you a picture to really explain what I'm trying to say haha. Like my HS precision stock for example, at the end when it's sitting on the bipod the stock sags and comes in contact with the barrel where it's supposed to free float. I had to sand it down. It stop sags but I took enough material off so it doesn't contact the barrel

      The aluminum backbone runs the entire length of the barrel channel. The aluminum channel would have to flex to cause contact on the barrel. That would take an amount of force that would be beyond what you could apply under normal use.

      +stealth Andy I am not sure I understand the question. Are you asking why you should buy a $500 Chassis for a bolt action rifle instead of buying another rifle?

      @@8541tactical I believe that some ppl don't understand that 500 gives you a basic AR probably not even a 2232 wylde

    wich chassis would you recommend ? The krg x ray or the mdt tac 21.

      X-Ray. The Tac-21 is cool, but WAY heavy for what it is.

      Thanks !! I will have to wait and see. If I have enough money id probably get the wiskey 3. Im planning to put a tikka t3 varmint stainless in it with a vortex viper pst scope.

    Does short action and long action depends on the rifle range ?

    • @JohnMcQuay
      @JohnMcQuay 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. It is generally used to describe the size of the receiver or what class of cartridge it will accept. Although both .308 and .30-06 are the same bullet size and same bolt head diameter, the .30-06 is a "long action" cartridge because it will not fit in the magazine of the short action receiver.
