    love your channel reasons
    1) honest and sensible comments
    2) all things covered in 9-11 minutes i mean everything
    3) new videos almost everyday

    So when the i30 has a big ugly screen nailed to the dash that's ugly but when Audi do the same it's a masterpiece of innovative design.

    • @alexuemura2353
      @alexuemura2353 6 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      Seán O'Nilbud It’s because the screen on the Audi has nearly no bezels, and it has no buttons on the screens itself. The i30 has fat bezels for the buttons, which means he said it will age badly, not ugly.

    Can you plan a drag race (standing + rolling start) with the Hyundai i30 N Performance vs Peugeot 308 GTI vs Golf GTI Performance vs Ford Focus ST ? That would be brilliant

    • @PapiAndrey
      @PapiAndrey 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SkizomanX
      Maybe a non-Performance i30 is more closely matched to these cars (247hp vs the performance making 272hp).
      Or maybe a clubsport Gti would compete better with these cars as they stand.
      I just feel like a Gti PP making 245hp is a little underpowered, but then again, VW does love to underrate their numbers.

    • @AntoineFRS
      @AntoineFRS 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, because don't forget that the i30 N is the heaviest, and on paper those 4 are quite close.
      The GTI clubsport is not sold anymore (but yes that would be intersting too).
      Like you said, VW underrate their numbers.
      Anyway, I hope that Carwow will do that ^^ !

    • @Mgoblagulkablong
      @Mgoblagulkablong 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      drag races are dumb, lap times tell much more about a car
      in the german press the 308 gti just beat the Golf GTI Performance (again) and the i30N
      308 gti = most underrated car

    • @AntoineFRS
      @AntoineFRS 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of people are interested about pure performance, and since Carwow doesn't do laptimes... so there is nothing stupid about it since straightline speed is also a factor to get better laptimes.
      Those cars are not only made for racetracks...in fact those are more of dailydrivers than track cars.

    I changed from Leon to Civic in 2018. I loved my Leon but the Civic is something else. It has a totally different feel and it is a cracking drive. I got it in black so all the weird grills disappear. The touchscreen is no problem, as responsive as you need it to be and the sat nav is far better than the leon (unless it changed after 2015). All in all I'm well chuffed, I might go for a type R next time!

    I really like the new Civic design, however I can see why some don't and think it's 'over-designed' so to speak. But you know you're getting a very reliable and performing car from Honda.

    • @StephenButlerOne
      @StephenButlerOne 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      CyclingDaz I like the new one, it looks the best since the 90s, but still, its still looks like a 15-year-old with a Halford's club card designed it.
      Says more about me and my age I think. at my age, I just couldn't own it. Though out of theses, id gets an Octavia I think it's a little nicer in vrs trim over the Leon fr trim. Admittedly the vrs is a few grand more, but so would be the trim of all the cars featured. I'd get the 184 diesel in the Fr trim in estate form. which is cheaper by about 1k over the diesel vrs.
      Same car, different frock. So it would come down to looks. Also, the seat drives a little better than the Octavia, it's not only sportier it's less harsh. seat has done a good job in the Leon fr. Though I've only driven the 184 Leon fr st back to back with the 180 Octavia vrs estate.
      I went in to test drive the petrol vrs, 230 iirc, but also took out the diesel. And as seat was nextdoor I took out the sister car the leon st fr diesel.
      So my decision is two fold, petrol over diesel.1.is the extra grunt ,and less noise worth the mpg hit , about an average 27mpg vs 38mph in the deisel .
      If the answer is no, the the 2nd question then is do I then save the 1k plus and get the Leon. Its just as good , if better in some ways , except looks imo.
      I've written far too much . if you got here, hello, all the best and happy new year .

    Seat leon FR for me nicer on the outside, better quicker tech on inside and love the sporty ride.

    • @Samosayummyyay
      @Samosayummyyay 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Surprisingly the FR does 0-100km/h in 8s, making it as quick as my 2013 Toyota Auris 1.8 Hybrid (it too does it in 8s flat). That is totally unexpected. I spec'd the Leon FR similarly to my Toyota Auris and the FR will cost me 36k Euro....So it's as fast as a damn Hybrid EV in a straight line, not suited for long trips, only performs well in corners...I'm not so sure about it. Also the FR has totally zero road presence. I got my Auris 1.8 in Pearlwhite (offset white, looks like frosted ice during winter, sparkles during summer), with 19" rims, blacked out roof, blacked out windows, chrome package, the Auris looks totally hardcore. I tried to get a hardcore looking FR, but it just can't happen, it will always look like a cheap car that can't even outrun an Hybrid EV car...for the price, a very bad choice.

      Own a 2014 leon and overall it's good to live with. The ride is firm around town and a bit bouncy on some badly surfaced B roads but superb on motorways and dual carriageway where you hardly feel bumps at all. The 1.4 turbo is nice. Good for overtaking yet fuel economy varies between 40 and 50. The interior is well made but needs more flair. Lacks wow factor. Overall I like it. But the civic does look interesting and a softer ride would be tempting.

      All cars are growing. Look at the Clio! Though an extreme example, the trend is there, look at all cars, Fiesta, even the current ka is bigger than the first fiesta. It's, not just ford either. Look at the first civic, which looks amazing looking back. You could probably park the original civic im the new one's boot.
      I once owned a rover 420sli, at the time a quite big car, my current car a GTC, (a 2 door Astra) i noticed in the supermarket is as long and wider than my old rover. Decent car that was, it had the Honda engine

    • @pokest225
      @pokest225 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      albertrll that "Hot hatch soul" is a very bold statement. It's the first try from Hyundai in this car class. And a serious one indeed, it does look good overall. But it has to demonstrate a lot of things still. The Cupra is on it's third generation now. It was a record car in the nurburgring. And released all of the tech that the Hyundai has now. DCC chassis, electronic lsd, Drive modes.... it has 300hp and near 100kg less than the Hyundai. Given that the Hyundai is just being released, I still prefer the Cupra. Some time later on, we'll see how good the Hyundai really is. I hope it will not dissapoint, more competition is always good in this class.

    • @pokest225
      @pokest225 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      albertrll are you from Spain? Me too haha. The Cupra is not that expensive in reality. The brand's configurator gives an higher price than the one you can get at the dealers. Talking about the performance pack, all the Hyundai features are standard in the Leon without that pack. The Leon's performance pack adds Big brembo brakes and Michelin cup tyres. That's another plus. I did a short test drive in a Cupra 280 dsg without pp, and the car was VERY good. But to be honest, I prefer manual gearbox over faster times. I hope I can do a test drive in the i30N, so I can actually have a real opinion about It. My current car is a Focus st mk2 with mods.

    Completely agree with the seat leon FR sporty suspension. As a 1 year owner of a 66 plate, one thing i hate about my car is the comfortability. There is no "comfort mode" so you are stuck with a harsh suspension throughout your experience with the car. You will end up hating the car if like me you do alot of local/ city centre driving. Next car is gonna be either a golf or a class.

    I had similar cars to choose. Took the middle ground which is seat. (2019 FR) I did get the ski hatch, the wierdness of the passenger seat is still there (if you want people behind to have room, you wont be able to open the glovebox, they did add a box to store things below the seat tho). The sport suspension you can feel a lot. Sometimes it is annoying. The consuption is very very good. 6 speed manual with 150hp petrol gives me around 5.5 l/100km. It cost me around 23.000 euros due to some added equipment. However, it is a perfect car for young people that enjoy driving and things like that

    To be honest I'd get the Civic. My parents have always had Hondas and they're hard to kill. My first car was a 2010 CR-V and it still runs great. I actually like the look of the Seat though, agressive, and I assume the Hyundai is a pretty good car. I also like the comparisons between cars like these, not over the top but still quality. Buyers of an Audi R8 or a Mercedes E class or whatever aren't going to look at a comparison or review to decide - those people have already made up their minds based on what plastic badge is on the bonnet.

    I don’t agree RE: the i30’s styling. Here in Aus you can get a model called the SR with a 200hp 1.6-litre turbo petrol and it has 18-inch alloys, a rear diffuser and the dial pipes and it looks much nicer and more unique than the Euro spec model used here.

      @Getthe cansin
      It's not. With long warranties and lease plans where people don't keep the cars reliability means less and less. More - Civic had some issues (electronic stuff) even though it's the newest here. Third - japanese cars are traditionally stupidly expensive to maintain and more importantly - repar, at least here in Europe.
      Old Passat is still much more mature, comfortable and quality car than any Honda.

    This fellow came to this test with preconceived notions. Now in 2020 [in lockdown], these cars' final positions would be reversed. It annoys me that car hacks continue to do this. What happened to warranty, reliability and other factors that were conveniently overlooked or largely ignored in the final score? However, I come from Australia where cars score differently, usually more powerful, and automatics are inverse to manuals cf the UK, and distances are huge, with a hot climate. So I see why the i30s rear air vents weren't big in this comparison. Other things aside, in Aussie, Seat would be a 'chair' 'cos it ain't sold here. As for the Civic. An embarrassment of wheels.
