I have had my Sport, Rally Red for 2 months. Best car i have ever owned. Mine is the CVT, very quick and responsive. Still turns heads when i am out and about. The turbo kicks in nicely with a growl,just great. Like leaving other cars in my rear view mirror :)
Have had my 1.5 turbo for almost 3 years. Done 66000 km with it and still love it and the practicality is very imperssive. Fortunately its time to look for a family wagon now since the new family member :)
A very well thought out, non-bias, and balanced review. No-nonsense and to the point. The cost of living has me thinking about selling my VXR which is costing £500 in fuel a month. This Civic 1.5 could be the ticket.
Just bought my Civic EXL two days ago. Beautiful car and handles the road wonderfully. Many features, audio is great, integration with iPhone is phenomenal. Small steering wheel is very responsive. Door closing is solid. I think I picked a winner.

Great review. One thing you mention elsewhere is watching temperature gauges to check the engine is warmed up before expecting the turbo to kick in. I think that is a really good practise for these modern turbo cars. I’ve had one of these Civic Sport for 5 months and decided to stick with it. Compared with the Mazda MX RF, it feels just as light and airy, more comfortable, better visibility and the double kick of the engine: Vtech and turbo. Surprising there aren’t more on the roads. I test drove this car just a couple weeks ago for fun..and I fell in love with it, it's been driving around my mind and will be getting one in the future for definite. Great video too, your feeling were pretty much on par with mine.
I had one of these as a courtesy car yesterday, blown away by how good it was. Steering, gearbox, handling all top notch. The buttons on the steering wheel are a bit crappy though
Took this exact car for a test drive two weeks ago...loved it and order myself one. Also in white, with the black skirt it looks awesome. Two weeks until it arrives, can't wait.

Hi Ped, I driven Honda for 30 years, Accords & then the previous gen Civic. I ordered one on the strength of Honda reputation , its sporty look & 182HP from a 1.5 litre. I wasn't disappointed. Not seen many others on the road as yet & mine gets plenty of looks. For the price & class of car it's superb. Love your presentations.
I bought my Civic 1.5 Sport hatch two months ago and already hit 5,000 kms. My previous civic sedan 8th generation was flawless - not even one single problem in almost 10 years. However, I must admit this new civic is even better than my previous one - this car is outstanding in every sense. Many thanks for the review - you've really hit the nail on its head. LOL 😂 lots of manufacturers have automatic hazard lights upon emergency brake. That is old tech, but I love how happy you became when you found out 😅👍🏼
Fantastic review. One thing though, the 1L turbo has a timing belt ( yeah, I know right! ) and the service scheduled replacment is 60k miles. A little odd in this day and age, thing is, I've been quoted £1200 for a main dealer change! That's just crazy. Something to remember if you're thinking of buying the 1L. I decided against it and went for the 1.5L sport +. If you thought the sport was good, the sport+ just adds a few extra toys, to make it even better. For me, heated seats were non negotiable. Fantastic channel though. Love your reviews.
A lot of 1.0 litre turbo civics from 2017 will be coming on the market in the next year or so. For the belt change and 2k dealer charge. Don’t touch them.
I have a 2017 Coupe Touring and this thing is absolutely terrific. Almost got 2,000 miles on it and I haven't had any issues (the infotainment system works well for me). Plus, it's deceptively fast (for a Civic, that is) with the CVT - throw it in S (or L if you're feeling it) and you'll hit 60 in about 6 1/2 seconds! Great car for anyone looking for fun without breaking the bank.

Managed to have test drive today in the sport version also and loved it. It is right what u say about watching your speed tho as I went over a few speed limits a few times.
Just got a sport plus so has a few extras on it, but I have fallen in love with this car, IT IS AMAZING FOR THE £££££ the only bad thing is the material on the doors, marks really easy! But the sport plus has blis, dynamic suspension, sunroof and blacked out badges etc.
Bought this car a month ago (the Sport Plus model) and saw this review. The way it handles and the shift box.. it's very impressive. I tested it with the CVT gearbox. It's good, but I chose the one with the manual.. which is more fun to drive. Keep up the good work, you got a new subscriber.

Actually as one who have for at least 8 years the 8th generation Civic, I can say the same things about it - It has in a very wonderful way 2 personalities - It is Sporty & accurate and in the same time it can be comfy & pampering. Just wanted to say thank you. It’s this video that persuaded me to buy my 1.5 Civic Sport Plus some 16 months ago, and I’ve not had one day of regret. The car is very comfy on long journeys and with a mixture of town and motorway driving , I’m still getting over 42mpg. I’ve also tried the 1.0 Civic, but couldn’t get anywhere near to the mpg I’m getting with the 1.5. Im guessing it’s something to do with the small engine working harder in what is a heavy car.
@@PetrolPed I have 1.0 Vtec and has driven with it for like 2000km. It averaged around 6L/100km = 43 MPG. I wanted to buy the 1.5 but the insurance and taxes would increased rapidly. 1.0 is still morethan enough.

Just bought a 20 plate model, the styling is fantastic and this video helped make my mind up. The car is brilliant and looks it as well in polished metal colour. Top marks to Honda. We have a 20 plate HRV as well and that’s brilliant as well.
Had my Sport Rally Red 2 months, still a great thrill driving this car. Mine is a CVT, boy does it shift when you put your foot down. Nice seeing other cars fading away in the rear view mirror. 😁
Fantastic review again mate. Saw this version at Wolverhampton honda when I drove the type r too. The salesman there I know is driving one says it's a completely different car to previous models.

Hoping to get one as a company car. It's encouraging that it goes well (haven't driven as yet) but just to be pedantic, it isn't 250 ft lb torque its 240 NM which is 177 ft lb. Good video, thank you
I posted a while ago saying I had a Civic 1.5 Sport on order. I finally got the car on Saturday, and I have to say you are pretty spot on with your assessment of the new Civic in your review. It really is a 'drivers car'. Handling is impeccable, and its a quick car. Also quiet and comfy.
got red one, i put coilovers on and lowered for 5cm it handles like a champ :) after 1.5y of ownership i still look at her when i walk away :) love the driving, great value for money
Hi ---- After a long sort thro many car makes and models ( wanting to replace my Audi A3 1.8 turbo ) a hard act to follow ! I bought a Honda civic 1.5 sport ( 2017 ) ------- brilliant buy , even if I have to oil change every 3000 or 5000 miles will not swap it for any other mid range car. ------ its just every thing PETROL PED said in his review , in RALLY RED with APOLLON alloys it just looks ------- stunning . A great drivers car , it will make U SMILE.
Thanks for the review, I test drove a prestige last Friday and was amazed at the speed and promptly ordered the Sport Plus. My husband was surprised that it only had a 1.5 litre engine for the performance.
My car lease is up in Feb 2020 - my current car is the Ibiza FR ecotsi 1.4 which does 0-60 in 7.6 so I am looking for something similar but with a little more refinement. This is in my top 3. Decisions decisions.

I've had many Honda's over the years, Honda accords from year 1995 + 2001 and 2005 models great cars. Then bought 2005 model Honda civic 2.0 Type S which i kept for over 3 yea and loved that model. i changed for some other brands eg. Toyota auris sr180 then Audi a3 which i didn't keep too long. after missing a Honda i purchased a 2010 model Honda insight which was massive money saver and followed by Honda crz 2010 model. Crz was fun but not practical. i eventually bought 2015 Honda civic 1.6i-dtec. Amazing fuel economy but i was missing the power despite its a little punch but a lot of torque. Now I've ordered brand new Honda Civic Sports 1.5 Turbo like this one in black. i am really looking forward to drive this and have some fun. This video made me realise i have probably done the best purchase. ill find out next week when the car is ready for collection. Honda Engines are the best from my experience.
@@MrEsmo7 hey Buddy, I've now owned the 1.5 Civic sports for over a year now. Got to say it have an impressive power for a 1.5T and comfort too. Intended to do 6k miles a year but I've done over 12k miles already. Had no issues and always kicking the power it about. Definitely worth the money. If you join on Facebook Honda Civic Mk10 Owners Group. All future owners and actual owners are helpful giving advice if you have any questions or issues. Am in that group for over a year. No regrets

Watched this video after I placed an order for the new civic. Picking it up next week. Makes me even more excited :D unfortunately in Asia the 1.5T only comes with a CVT auto. Very honest review Peter. Seems like a good 'all rounder', drives well, nice toys, hazard lights feature is neat idea. Not so keen on the flat panel styling but I 'm sure it won't put off serious buyers. Maybe I need to go & take an up close look, you never know I may change my mind. Thanks for sharing.......... Geof
Man those roads look fun! Too bad the U.K doesn't get the 10th Gen Civic Coupe! I got my Civic coupe ex-t (1.5l turbo and 6speed manual) which also comes with a sunroof and 450watt sound system! Got mine for under $21k U.s. Honda did a amazing job on the new Civic. Now if only Honda now covers speeding tickets!!!!
These cars are putting wheel horsepower numbers down that are close to what they're rated for at the crank, which means their actual power is something just north of 200. That's why it feels surprisingly quick.
L8rApex hi mate, what do you mean? their on paper numbers are understated? ive had my 1.0 SR couple months now done around 1.5k and was thinking it felt more powerful than its 129hp on paper
Honda always understate their performance numbers... I read that often when doing their official 0-60 tests etc they load the car up with additional weight to deliberately make them slower... not sure why though.
Good video particularly informative for us potential buyers rather than typical gloss overs other reviewers do. Are you going to do one on the 3 cylinder 1L ?
Great review Peter. What a motor, i know paddles are a bit gimmicky, but when i put mine in sport mode and use the paddles it almost feels like a manual, and she responds with that turbo growl, nice.
Neil2781 I have this in red, get that colour mate, i have never had so many compliments form other road users. The car really is quick and responsive. The best Civic i have ever owned and this is my 3rd. Mine has CVT, i know the hatred for that auto, but i find it quick no lag and the kick down puts you back into your seat. Also the handling and suspension is the best yet. The car also comes with a lot of toys.

I'm looking for a new car soon because the fiesta I have just now is doing my head in - especially with the unsyncronised reverse gear crunching every time i try to reverse. Can anyone tell me if the civic gearbox is better synced in this way?

My car did 54 mpg the other day when I drove it in a civilised manner without using economic mode. Honestly this car is so good.

Just wanted to say thank you. It’s this video that persuaded me to buy my 1.5 Civic Sport Plus some 16 months ago, and I’ve not had one day of regret. The car is very comfy on long journeys and with a mixture of town and motorway driving , I’m still getting over 42mpg. I’ve also tried the 1.0 Civic, but couldn’t get anywhere near to the mpg I’m getting with the 1.5. Im guessing it’s something to do with the small engine working harder in what is a heavy car.

@@PetrolPed I have 1.0 Vtec and has driven with it for like 2000km. It averaged around 6L/100km = 43 MPG. I wanted to buy the 1.5 but the insurance and taxes would increased rapidly. 1.0 is still morethan enough.
mine is coming tomorrow! cant wait! I love my 2016 civic, but this one looks even better. I have ordered it in blue, just had a call from Collins Honda to say its on its way :-)

Just bought a 20 plate model, the styling is fantastic and this video helped make my mind up. The car is brilliant and looks it as well in polished metal colour. Top marks to Honda. We have a 20 plate HRV as well and that’s brilliant as well.

Had my Sport Rally Red 2 months, still a great thrill driving this car. Mine is a CVT, boy does it shift when you put your foot down. Nice seeing other cars fading away in the rear view mirror. 😁

Fantastic review again mate. Saw this version at Wolverhampton honda when I drove the type r too. The salesman there I know is driving one says it's a completely different car to previous models.

Hoping to get one as a company car. It's encouraging that it goes well (haven't driven as yet) but just to be pedantic, it isn't 250 ft lb torque its 240 NM which is 177 ft lb. Good video, thank you

I finally got the car on Saturday, and I have to say you are pretty spot on with your assessment of the new Civic in your review.
It really is a 'drivers car'. Handling is impeccable, and its a quick car.

got red one, i put coilovers on and lowered for 5cm it handles like a champ :) after 1.5y of ownership i still look at her when i walk away :) love the driving, great value for money

Hi ---- After a long sort thro many car makes and models ( wanting to replace my Audi A3 1.8 turbo ) a hard act to follow ! I bought a Honda civic 1.5 sport ( 2017 ) ------- brilliant buy , even if I have to oil change every 3000 or 5000 miles will not swap it for any other mid range car. ------ its just every thing PETROL PED said in his review , in RALLY RED with APOLLON alloys it just looks ------- stunning . A great drivers car , it will make U SMILE.
Thanks for the review, I test drove a prestige last Friday and was amazed at the speed and promptly ordered the Sport Plus. My husband was surprised that it only had a 1.5 litre engine for the performance.
My car lease is up in Feb 2020 - my current car is the Ibiza FR ecotsi 1.4 which does 0-60 in 7.6 so I am looking for something similar but with a little more refinement. This is in my top 3. Decisions decisions.

I've had many Honda's over the years, Honda accords from year 1995 + 2001 and 2005 models great cars. Then bought 2005 model Honda civic 2.0 Type S which i kept for over 3 yea and loved that model. i changed for some other brands eg. Toyota auris sr180 then Audi a3 which i didn't keep too long. after missing a Honda i purchased a 2010 model Honda insight which was massive money saver and followed by Honda crz 2010 model. Crz was fun but not practical. i eventually bought 2015 Honda civic 1.6i-dtec. Amazing fuel economy but i was missing the power despite its a little punch but a lot of torque.
Now I've ordered brand new Honda Civic Sports 1.5 Turbo like this one in black. i am really looking forward to drive this and have some fun. This video made me realise i have probably done the best purchase. ill find out next week when the car is ready for collection. Honda Engines are the best from my experience.

@@MrEsmo7 hey Buddy, I've now owned the 1.5 Civic sports for over a year now. Got to say it have an impressive power for a 1.5T and comfort too. Intended to do 6k miles a year but I've done over 12k miles already. Had no issues and always kicking the power it about. Definitely worth the money. If you join on Facebook Honda Civic Mk10 Owners Group. All future owners and actual owners are helpful giving advice if you have any questions or issues. Am in that group for over a year. No regrets

Watched this video after I placed an order for the new civic. Picking it up next week. Makes me even more excited :D unfortunately in Asia the 1.5T only comes with a CVT auto. Very honest review Peter. Seems like a good 'all rounder', drives well, nice toys, hazard lights feature is neat idea. Not so keen on the flat panel styling but I 'm sure it won't put off serious buyers. Maybe I need to go & take an up close look, you never know I may change my mind.

Man those roads look fun! Too bad the U.K doesn't get the 10th Gen Civic Coupe! I got my Civic coupe ex-t (1.5l turbo and 6speed manual) which also comes with a sunroof and 450watt sound system! Got mine for under $21k U.s. Honda did a amazing job on the new Civic. Now if only Honda now covers speeding tickets!!!!
Its a great road for putting a car through its paces. They should just bad speeding tickets !
These cars are putting wheel horsepower numbers down that are close to what they're rated for at the crank, which means their actual power is something just north of 200. That's why it feels surprisingly quick.
L8rApex hi mate, what do you mean? their on paper numbers are understated? ive had my 1.0 SR couple months now done around 1.5k and was thinking it felt more powerful than its 129hp on paper
Honda always understate their performance numbers... I read that often when doing their official 0-60 tests etc they load the car up with additional weight to deliberately make them slower... not sure why though.

Great review Peter. What a motor, i know paddles are a bit gimmicky, but when i put mine in sport mode and use the paddles it almost feels like a manual, and she responds with that turbo growl, nice.

Neil2781 I have this in red, get that colour mate, i have never had so many compliments form other road users. The car really is quick and responsive. The best Civic i have ever owned and this is my 3rd. Mine has CVT, i know the hatred for that auto, but i find it quick no lag and the kick down puts you back into your seat. Also the handling and suspension is the best yet. The car also comes with a lot of toys.
They are stunning cars. I've not driven the CVT but probably should !

I'm looking for a new car soon because the fiesta I have just now is doing my head in - especially with the unsyncronised reverse gear crunching every time i try to reverse. Can anyone tell me if the civic gearbox is better synced in this way?

i think pedals are closer in the rhd version, it's not that easy to heel/toe at firston lhd cars

Unfortunately, US version Civic Sport doesn't come with push button start or the 7 inch display. I'm waiting Honda will update/refresh CIVIC Sport.
