      Yes.What I do is buy the tub of gulp baits and when the baits are used up I then use that scent for other baits.A teaspoon is good for crappie baits and a tablespoon for bass baits.Just add to bag and knead to cover all baits

    As a former smoker (20+ years ago now) I used to see it first hand how my buddies would out fish me and I figured out it had to be the cigarettes. So I started keeping my lures away from getting smoke on them, started using baby wipes and sanitizer's before fishing and then used Bang (yes bang lol) on my hands to help if I lit up. And I started catching more fish. So at worse the scents can mask the smell of you or what's in your vehicle off your lures. So yes I think they do work.

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I agree completely. It's just as important to keep the bad scents off your baits!

  • @ednassif

    Thanks for another great tip! You know a lot more than I do. By far. Have you ever tried using 3/8 inch clear shrink tubing and heating it snug? It allows you to hook into (even just the shrink tubing) a wacky from side to side. Perpendicular to the worm. Some say it's the "right" way to rig them. A lot less chance of them getting torn off. Anyway, keep up the great content. I have learned a lot from you. Looking forward to your baits!

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did the tube thing for a bit, but then actually switched to a coffee stirring straw from the gas station and a drop of superglue. Stab the straw through the middle of the worm, add a drop of glue, and snip to length. I don't do it that way too much anymore because the plastic tubing or straw would get hung up on the hook barb. Either ruined the hook by making it dull or it was a huge pain to get straightened out.

    I use scents on my baits all the time. Been doing it for years. I like garlic scented ones best maybe because I like the smell of garlic so much.

    I am going to try this myself with some off the shelf worms. However, I will take a t-pin and poke some holes in the plastic to allow the gulp to penetrate the plastic.

    I do a great deal of small creek fishing for steelhead and salmon the average size of the steelhead are over 6lbs the salmon are over 8lbs the Kings well over 10
    I do not use my drag I back-reel and it works great and I use quite light line like 10lb Tylene XT or 12lb Yo-Zuri co-polymer now and as long as I do a line inspection and re-tie after every fish I very rarely have a fish brake off
    Will admit when I am purposely targeting salmon I go to 15lb Yo-Zuri co-poly line as I can still cast smaller inline spinners accurately and still get very good action from them
    But I mostly dont use drag anymore especially not fishing for largemouth unless Im fishing structures with no thick weeds or other heavy vegetation growths like lilly pads and unless Im fishing soft plastics I use braid so I can horse fish out before they get barried in the weeds
    I lost no question on my mind my new PB largemouth back in August of 23 fishing lilly pads with a frog when a absolute massive largemouth breached while engulfing my frog
    Had a 8'3" MH/FA rod casting reel spooled with 50lb Power Pro braid
    Should've been a slam dunk but my drag was loose and she got burrowed so deep in the weeds she got off before I could tighten down my drag
    Did get my frog back but the shaft and the double hooks were all bent at absolute crazy angles you literally have to see to believe that a bass did it not me with pliers
    Ive a few bass over 10lbs and more than 2 doz in the 6-8lb range this bass was at least over 12lbs
    Took me a while to get over that mistake

    After not using scents for a good while and then using them, I can definitely say that I have seen an increase in catches vs. before. So, for me, I am totally in for using scents. Like you said, choose wisely what you use. Gulp is definitely a good one. You can buy the scent in what they call a recharge bottle for your gulp baits if they run dry or low.

    I've used the bait fuel on my custom poured worms,and I use it on jigs skirts,or punch rigs for lube.my custom baits are coffee scented,garlic,and anise.add bait fuel in small amounts,or your salts will swell in the baits, and get milky. Baits will return to normal size if you air dry them on a paper towel and repackage. Nice research and results Lowbrow 👌 👍.

    • @mattthomen1608
      @mattthomen1608 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @joshgordon2484 yes, the bait fuel,is a good product,because it works with most other scents,and has scientific research like Berkley to keep fish holding on longer. I've used it on slow presentations, and on punch rigs that move fast for reaction. If I don't get bit, I add the bait fuel, and hold on!💥🎣

    Sent works, used it with 40 boats next to me on the Mississippi River one spring. I was catching walleye left and right and was the only one doing so. One of the closest boats asked me what I was using and gave them the same jig I was using. I was still catching more fish than they were. They asked what I was putting on my jig and I said this fish sent. I said throw his line in the boat and I will put some on. By the time he got it back to his boat he had a fish. I said that we are leaving and if he wants to buy it from me he could have it. I hung around for a short time and his boat was the only one catching fish as I left. Crazy I know.

    Just a tip that might help you with the hook set and drag setting. If you tighten the drag all the way down and use the anti-reverse as you're drag, you will increase you're hook ups and landing. I've been using it the last couple of years, and it has helped. I'm not going to lie though its a adjustment from a lifetime of setting the drag and using the anti-reverse. There's some good videos on here that explain it way better than me, but i can say it has worked for me.

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not a back cranking kinda angler. I've tried it, but I always feel like it's more heavy-handed than I want to be with a light finesse setup. I should have checked my drag, it was just way too loose. It happens. Just something I need to be mindful of. I included that footage because I want my viewers to see that I'm not perfect either and it's okay to make mistakes. Just don't let them get the better of you.

    I've tried several different scents in the past but the Gulp juice far exceeds the others, it's not even close. Just don't let it leak out in your wife's car like I did. My tackle bag has been permanently banned from her car. If my daughter is out in my car and I want to go fishing, I have to walk to the pond. LOL. I mainly use it when panfishing but I will definitely be soaking some senkos in that juice in the future, thank you!!!

    I use the bait fuel just a little goes a very long way. I don't even squeeze the bottle just tip it up and lightly soak the bait. I only do it at most 3 days before I'm gonna use them. I've never had any issues with swelling baits. Ive noticed the bait fuel smells almost like powerbait even though it's not suppose to have a actual smell. Now as far as sprays to use in real time no soaking I like the pro line spray from bass pro it's like 7 bucks an oz. And it comes in craw,shad herring, frog etc. And it's stanky stanky. But it works. I know they work both formulas. I think it's just about appealing to all senses. And it's mainly for very slow presentations reaction baits do not need scent in my opinion. It's purely reaction instinct. But dead sticking I definitely want some smell on it.
