The 1/2oz. Rattletrap is always in my tackle box. One of top 5 "GO TO" lures lures ever. Growing up in Florida; fishing over the grass. Never lets me down. The only colors I use is the Chrome Blue or the Chrome Blue with black stripes. I do replace the hooks with Gamakatsu #4 front and #5 Back, or both #4 in the Round bend superline or 2X strong. Nice video Cap!
what size, oversize front hooks do you recommend, when removing the rear trebles? May have to try removing the rear trebles, as here in florida, like you know, i generally fish this bait in 3' - 6' of water.
March 1996 on Tucker Town NC, we were in a tough spot with the watercolor, and the color collector said purple, chrome and purple back 1/4oz rattle trap took 1st place by a mile, always believed in them, they took the by u boogie to a new level.
Rat-l-traps are my go to for cold weather. 1/4 oz on a medium light moderate-fast spinning setup. 10lb braid with 8lb copolymer leader. Vary your retrieve until you determine what the fish want and you’ll slay even in 40 degree water
I use rattle traps for Muskys, Northerns, Walleyes, and Smallmouths in the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. All colors but the silver always catches fish.
Troll a big rattletrap off the beach and king mackerel can’t stand it - but yeah aught lotta bass and strippers on rattletraps one of the best baits out there
I love idiot baits i dont buy anything rattletrap though , i buy rapala, ever since the lawsuit from Lewis acting like they invented em, which they didnt Cotton Cordell spot was the first ,and still outfish all of em !!
Grateful for this video. On my lake (upper Midwest) a quick yo-yo retrieve just above the coontail grass works wonders and nearly anywhere with any retrieve when the wind is well up. 🎣🪷💨
Thanks for the great tips !!!
Thanks, Greatly appreciate the tips. I'm a big fan of the rattle trap.

Just one to two sizes up from the original trebles is all you need to go. It can help a bunch when fishing in the grass!

I grew up fishing Apopka area lakes and ponds. There was a time when I fished nothing but a 3/4 oz trap for a year.
hard to beat it!
Also, salt water bridge underpasses. Blue chrome for keeps. Snook
NICE

I've threw rattle traps 1000 times never caught crap on them. Don't even buy them anymore
Definitely one of the best baits in Florida! Just gotta be in the right cover
I use them when I would normally use a spinnerbait but in 4 to 6 ft depth instead of 0 to 4 like spinnerbait.
