Thanks! I have a Trophy MG5. Looks sharp and drives responsively. Some annoying issues: comes with a granny charge cable, not.a type 2; heated seat control is burried in the display rather than having visible buttons; the manual is only available as a pdf online; no heated steering wheel; defaults to Comfort mode, not Eco; cameras are a bit grainey. Hot tip, to help with rear visibility remove centre headrest and lower the other two until needed.
The front of the original MG5 looks more like a fossil car, the facelift does look like an EV now.
Great review Miles !.
Does the rear seat fold down flat when you need to put longer loads in the back?
Thanks for info mate
Another great real world review. Impressed. Very helpful.
Nice review. Thanks.
Was waiting for this! Thank you so much!
Nice to see the black interior, normally in reviews they have the gray/whitish one that i personally don't like
I will go for this MG5 or BYD Atto 3 next year. It ticks all boxes I need for.
this was very interesting was going for a MG4 but this would do as the boot is bigger
thats exactly I am feeling now. Like MG4 but the boot is bit too small.
Perhaps worth waiting for the MG5 replacement, built on the Modular Scalable Platform, like the MG4. Apparently the MG5 replacement will be launched in 2024.
Great review miles, when do you expect these to arrive for customers?
If you order soon, you should be able to get delivery before Christmas (2022!)
If your in the midlands Jay bee motors MG/Reno dealer Banbury has one in the showroom.
Our Burnley dealership has one in the showroom and a demo ready to test drive now, our Chorley dealership is expecting delivery very soon!
Great video Miles and MG really stepping up their game. I don’t even like/want an estate but this is now very compelling, the only thing I can think of that missing is a panoramic glass roof (once you’ve had one, any vehicle without seems dark and dingy). Should sell like hot cakes. Bit sad for legacy auto though; how do they compete with this except for people who worry about the badge on the front?
How long before we can lease? And how much?
Love the MG5
Excellent car
I have a Fiat Tipo SW, with a luggage compartment of 550 liters.
When I saw the MG5 for sale, I went to see the technical characteristics and I was disappointed to have a smaller trunk.
It's a shame, because currently the cargo space is sometimes short, so the MG5 is unfortunately not a valid option 😏🧐
Do you get any reflections in the windscreen from the shiny dash?
No, we've not noticed any reflections from the dashboard at all. Test drive one for yourself to confirm if it would be an issue for you, but nobody else has mentioned it.
Does it have a charge timer and a heat pump?
It has a charge timer (and climate control remote via app), but does not have a heat pump (in the UK at least)
I was under the impression from one demo that there were an extra row of seats in the boot making it a 7 seater?
No, MG don't currently sell a 7 seat vehicle in the UK.
You can’t see it in video or pictures but the new face has a really pointy nose 👃 which I personally don’t like so the old model for me.
I own a 72plate . And they are fine for short distances with kers 2 or 3 regen.
And the 250 full charge range when set to eco. But when doing motorway work
100 mile motorway runs. Make sure your near a instavolt or bp pulse. Because you will need it. Not a vw podpoint in a tescos. The 7kv is the same as my home charge. And slow
Hello, the predecessor didn’t have towing capability?
No, the original MG5 wasn't certified for towing.
@@ChorleyGroup thank you 😊
Honestly, the instrument cluster from the old version is (in my eyes) much better as from his successor!
God damn it, why the boot has a lip, it would be so much better without it
250miles is just not good enough.
The interface is trash. Wonder why he don't show it? Its useless. Rest of the car is great. but it just shows he is paid driver...
Consumer choice. Choose a car made by a longstanding Japanese manufacturer. Japanese employment choices. Japanese material choices. Choose a brand owned by the Chinese Communist Party! Human rights? Manufacturing standards? Employment standards? Fund the party in a dictatorship? MG? Once British now Communist.
Don't use a phone which has any Chinese parts.
That rear legroom is just unacceptable.
