I started having hard goosebumps from the moment he told Youko to keep his gloves .When the final page came I was tearing for a whole damn minute and I'm a person that has thrown tears very few times because of a series. I mean Ashita no Joe was and is the pioneer and father of sports manga, although not hugely popular, it's still an unpopular masterpiece in the world but popular in Japan
@@unabletoshowusername1876I think it's mostly because of when it came out. Older series tend to not get much popular outside of their circles, even if receiving remakes. But there's exceptions, of course.
@@imcute9425 that would be absolutely out of left field if that happened; but yeah id probably cry too given everything he's gone through. Im surprised mori hasnt thrown a death in the ring yet unless hes waiting for a really impactful fight.
I got it tattooed on me. Never will I forget it this game of life or game of fight like me and joe picked. You better give it all. Even if it means your doom. Because If you don’t you either live with regret. Or you never really wanted it. It’s okay to be lost in life. But that doesn’t mean to not look for the way. And when you find it and love. Burn up, until there’s nothing left but white ash.
When i was living in Tokyo, i went to the back alleys of Nakano where all the izakaya and nightlife were at. In the front of a random bar/restaurant there was a 1:1 joe statue doing that last panel pose. Nearly broke down in the middle of a crowded alley.
his death got spoiled for me right after i watched rikiishi's death. i dropped it then because when i found out he also lost his last ever fight with a smile while dying, depression hit me like a truck... i cried so hard despite not finishing it. i'm both glad and pissed for it getting spoiled because if i had finished it i would've cried for days maybe even weeks man... i loved joe and rikiishi. such a great and realistic story. so incredibly underrated.
There are lot of things remaining, related to carsol rivera vs joe , tragedy happened to carlos , yoko, jose mendosa vs joe , joe with illness etc. not gonna share full info.
@@deathbringer9893 yes but it had its difference. One: the battle took over 20 years after Miki's death and the battle ground was China. The reason it took so long is because Akira was reuniting all the devilman from the world to confront Satan's demon hordes. Two: the battle was not shown and it shows Akira and Satan "talking". Three: Satan's speech was different. In the manga Satan talks about the reason why he allied himself with the devils and hated how God treated them with contempt, aiming to destroy the devils and Satan did the same to the humans.
I remember reading a japanese volume of this while I was at a medical shop when my dad was having surgery. The shop was run by a Japanese family so I was able to dig into it. I also read the very first Japanese volume of Golgo 13 (although I only remember seeing a panel of Hitler and that was it).
Admit it. A lot of us were spoiled by the ending before watching the whole anime through. Still enjoyed it, the OBPF championship with Joe VS Kim was the most haunting. That nearly killed Joe. Especially when he went through extreme to make weight and draw out his own blood. All within a matter of hours before the championship
So, as someone who hasn't read Ashita no Joe and is curious about it; what happened? Was he punch drunk after the fight? Dead even? Of course, any potential answers are likely to be spoilers, read at your own risk.
So, Joe's rival, Rikiishi Toru, the true chad of any series, inspired him to be a true boxer. They were different weight classes, and even so, Rikiishi went through hell and back and stood against Joe in the ring, after getting enough weight cut to be in the same category. And even in his weakened state, he won... but he was too weak, and after the match, Joe had to carry the weight of practically killing his inspiration. It was painful for Joe, but after going through so much, he was able to get back on the ring. It was hard though... after fighting true beasts, that inspired something so big and so fierce within himself, he lost many matches because he lacked motivation. Rikiishi had put his life on the line, and there were no opponents like him, so he was.... unamused by anyone. After a series of events, he finds his north again, ready to really give it all, like his rival before him. And he does, joyfully. He puts everything in the line. Joe keeps boxing, but he was young, so after some time, his weight was actually not suitable for featherweight class. Yet Joe decided to keep a VERY strict diet and keep fighting as a featherweight, because Rikiishi had done it before him, so why not. . In this final scene, he lost to the world featheweight champipn, but he was glad that was able to give it all, just like Rikiishi did with him. But he gave it all. There's another popular scene, pure white ash joe, search that. He really wanted to give it all. Sometimes he put his life at risk in a very dumb way. But now it was with a high degree of counsciousness. So there is a lot of speculation because he is smiling and kind of sitting with stability, but after some comments of the author... he is indeed dead. And happy.
It's not specifically stated, that was the last panel of the manga. But it's pretty heavily implied he's dead. He was severely punch drunk going into his last bout, and it seems he was totally blind by the end of it. Theres plenty of foreshadowing of his death in the ring throughout the manga as well. Now if you really want to be technical about it one could say he's still alive because he's holding his body up and he would have fallen out of the chair if he was dead, and it's simply he will now be crippled. But I honestly don't think that has the same impact.
Joe over the course of the series slowly starts to show more and more signs of punch drunkenness, he hides them despite knowing this and then dies at the end of his world title fight
