A problem with modern 'safer' cars is their refinement and sophistication makes high speeds feel like low speeds. In an old banger, doing 65mph sounds and feels like a major achievement. The noise, the vibration, makes you aware of just how fast you're moving. With no air-con you'll probably have a window open a crack, making the sound of your progress obvious. It feels quite natural to keep things around the 50mph mark. Riding a motorbike is equally 'visceral'; a biker feels every bump and wind buffet, so he's acutely aware of when he's pushing things too hard. But a modern car - especially an EV - is incredibly quiet and refined. High speed is effortless; there's little sensation of what the car's mechanical parts are doing. The cabin is calm, the air-con and sealed windows provide a further layer of isolation for the driver. There may even be cruise control, so the driver won't even feel how far the throttle pedal is depressed. 90mph feels like 40. So it's little wonder that people still die in modern 5-Star safety-rated cars. They're too competent. Too comfortable. And as this video shows, an accident at 70mph is enough to turn you into pink goo, however robust your vehicle happens to be. I think accident rates would drop significantly if cars came without windscreens, and drivers had to go back to wearing goggles and gloves. The sensations would make casual speeding something very hard to do without conscious effort.

for the last test, a single car into a wall at 120mph would simulate a head on crash between 2 cars each traveling at 60mph. youd think they could get this right... after all this is a show about cars... (but its no top gear :P)
Not quite, the show is right about the figures, because the wall effectively rebounds the total force the Ford focus impacts it with. So let's say the focus gives out 3000N of force (not an actual figure) when hitting the wall, then the wall gives back 3000N to conserve total energy. Wheras if it were 2 cars hitting at 60mph and causing dead standstill, the force each would apply is 1500N to each other. Although the forces of 2 slower cars add up to 1 fast car, their impacts are not interchangeable.
A 100 mph head on crash test between 2 modern era sedans would be epic

Those aren't old cars. Put a car from the sixties or seventies against one of the new ones.
Wanted to watch some good old days episode and you guys made them all unavailable! They were there for everyone to enjoy tiff, vicky and johnny but now, noooooooo sir, they want to get your money! I'm sure that this mighty trio would be against that petty move... Okay , so instead of you benefiting of the ad revenues like you could have done, I'll just get them on good old torrent... Bye!
See, this is the bs that makes people believe that less damage after a collision means it was more survivable. So what the purpose of front and rear crumple zones again?
😮
In roblox car smart not damage 💀
All great ideas tireless test and car design improvements has helped many survive but unfortunately it hasn’t helped the English birth rate in your country. Apparently the most common baby name in London now is Mohamed.
Car designers should have run our governments.
for the last test, a single car into a wall at 120mph would simulate a head on crash between 2 cars each traveling at 60mph. youd think they could get this right... after all this is a show about cars...
The show is 100% correct, you need to learn some basic physics.

Nothing but a sad echo of what once was with Top Gear and the fellas.
This channel is nothing but a complete and waste of one’s time.
If you're going to write a troll comment at least write something that makes sense lmaoo 😂
Top Gear was a mindless entertainment show for the masses, Fifth Gear was and factual. Totally different.
