I've got a 2016 GTI with that DSG. I also really love it. Not only is it super quick changing gears, but it gives you the best of both worlds. Fast, direct control of the gear change when you want to be sporty, automatic convenience when you don't. I love manuals, but using one in start-stop traffic during my commute gets annoying fast.
I also have a 2016 gti with a stage 3 clutch in LA traffic, I commute 1 hr one way then 20min back (b/c it's 11pm by then), usually in traffic going to work. It has a feature on hills that stops the car for a couple seconds, so that's nice, and honestly i don't even realize I'm in a manual, you get used to it. That being said, my stock clutch needed replacing after the APR tune lol, it was expensive, i heard the stock clutch would burn out anyway, a lot of owners who bought the manual are out about $2k-3k from their own pockets, b/c the stock clutch can't handle the stock torque and to replace it you need to replace the dual mass flywheel too, so I converted it to a regular lightweight flywheel, honestly VW should have recalled it, the DSG was a lot more reliable I heard, and of course the clutch is not under warranty, just like brakes and tires, it was considered wear and tear, oh well.
I have the Megane RS 280 Cup which sadly you do not get in the US as I am sure you would all love it across the pond...Great car though as you cannot go wrong with the GTI....

He's so wrong about this golf, The EP3 Type R is a far superior 'Hot Hatch.' & you can add Boost to them if you want too if you spent the £4,000 on a turbo kit instead of buying the golf.. PS. The K20 is the best 2.0L Engine ever made.
been a fan of hot hatches for almost 25 years now, when i got my first GTI back in the 90s. best overall package you can get in a car
They should replace current F1 with Senna vs Prost in hot hatches. Would be much more fun.
well, they could at least use them to replace some of their new gimmicky race and qualifier formats with it, would surely make things more interesting
