It’s impressive how both, the scientist quickly came to the conclusion of what advaita says about non dual reality, and how swami understood the advanced scientific theory the scientist was talking about

Yes, I agree. Our quest is to see the uniqueness of each within the unity or non-duality. Comparison is based on separation or duality and if we don't see comparison and question it and see through it to the deeper view, comparison will prevent our seeing the uniqueness of each (the Swami and Don) within the One or Non-Dual Reality. And yet on the way to full realization, we can see these kind of comparisons as young minds (yet to be ripe, almost like children). One key here is the phrase "with all due respect"; respect literally means "to see again" and is said to be the first step toward the reality of love itself (not some sentimentality). Rumi said " Sentimentality is the greatest enemy of Love." Here is where self knowledge comes into play where we can feel and know what our experience is doing to us and question if it is pushing us out of alignment with the knowledge of non-duality that can anchor the energy of the reality of love. Thanks for your comment and I feel all this from me may be a bit too much and maybe lacking in respect in some way that I have not yet noticed. Such are the hazards of this life. Let us be well. @@kshitijmishra6293

    Dear Swami & Don,
    .
Thanks for this wonderful conversation, absolute delight. Let me quickly introduce myself & come to the question that Don has raised why the absolute consciousness bliss projects as many.
    .
I'm an unborn soul but this body (Avatar) was born on 6-12-1992, at the same time Prabhu Ram was awaken in Ayodhya, we are the royal decents of Ikshwaku lineage. These titles might be less interesting but what interesting is my answer to the question of Don from the point of view of a PhD student from Imperial college London in materials department working on the quantum carbon dots & functional material Graphene. Due to maya’s grace, I have been the student of Swami Sarvapriyanand for almost a decade, which he might be aware of. So by bowing to my Guru Sarvapriyanand let me answer the 2 questions that Don have raised, which are really good questions! Plus add on that I do wrote Sanskrit poetry & I am a mystic. An interesting experience I would share at the end of my answers that when I was writing the Hindi poem on Indra Jaal, which basically means the reality headset & it's rendering, what Don has been speaking about. Plus, GTA Grand Theft Auto Five player & fan.
    .
    Why many?
The absolute truth is one, & there is no doubt about it. This has been my experience & reading Aparokshanubhuti, Yogavashita, Bhagavat Gita, even John’s Bible, where Jesus is pointing at the same truth which is one ground of god. Why? And I mean why many? The mathematical answer would be in geometry a circle centre can be reached through infinite points, because in 2πr which is the circumference of the circle π is an irrational number (3.14159….).
    .
As swami has said it's the nature of consciousness to illumine so this question can't be answer, & question itself presumes the many. It is like asking the question why the existence of this universe is? Well that which has caused everything has no cause, which is is shining sat-chit-ananda.
    .
Yet, when the Nirgun Bramhan (formless) becomes Sagun Bramhan, means when the formless forms, this exact moment in time itself, when the time asymmetry starts. In simple words, when Shiva visions the Shakti. We have to imagine absolute one then to be able to see a reflection. Shakti has been called the shadow of Shiva, when the time reversal happens, the entropy must halt for a brief moment & afterwards the enthalpy increases, until next time reversal happens. This has been mentioned by the Great Poet Panini centuries ago in the Shiva Stotra.
    .
Shruti says Maya is projected to the Hiranyagarbha (literal translation the gold belly; Avatar)! Here the contrast comes into the play & logic begins. Before this step there is no contract, hence logical enquiry ‘why’ becomes inadequate.
    .
Yet more interesting answer for Don, the same question that Don has raised if answered at the absolute second stage of creation, when the reality head set GTA avatar sees the first contrast, exactly here Hiranyagarbha & Maya exists in unity. Then next question, why so many? Then, the question can be answered. The word Maya means the loving one, which is the female aspect of creation & let’s say procreation. That which is projected in front of us is nothing but Maya. She is the absolute divinity, who is kinder that the kindest. Die Kinder is her life. Kinder is a German word for the kid. She is absolutely ready to render any for her kinder to have all the experience what the kinder wishes to render in the reality headset, yet she suffer when the kinder suffer, because Maya is all pervasive & Maya is Sarvadnya, Maya knows everything. Maya is the divine mother, Maya wants kinder to have everything what kinder wishes for, that is why so many! ‘Many’ are due to Maya’s grace, love, & great great kind divine eyes. Swami Sarvapriyanand, Swami Vivekananda, & our guru Paramahansa all would agree on this, it is due to Maya. Maya wants the Avatar to take charge of the absolute rendering & to reach beyond the contrast.
    .
    The next question Dan raised,
    Why suffering? Why cheap headset?
To answer this we have to be in the shoes of a parent. Parental Mother (Maya) punish kinder to show that the rendering won't bring any good later; the suffering is one part of Maya’s reward system. This is alike a sensitive parental divinity communicating with kinder grade, teenage kid, 31 year man, & so forth. This is alike the 98 years old queen Elizabeth (who saw her parents in the heave). Maya wants us to focus on good absolutely, which will bring the kinder Ananda. The vision of duality makes all suffer. Maya wants to guide us to the self enquiry that we are that absolute Bramhan; sat-chit-ananda (avatar). ‘Bra’ in Sanskrit is to expand.
    .
Now that I have answered the 2 beautiful questions, which Don have raised. Let me give you an insight into what Maya is! How she works with a poem, that I have written couple of days ago.
    .
Poem "the story of Indra Jāl", here in this poem, I touched Mayajal too, which is Maya’s rendered net. We have to understand that the poet is very emotionally sensitive, with great intensity he feels first; then poet puts the feelings into the composition. The word intensity is important here, intensity of what? Intensity of Bhava Shatki. ‘Bhava’ means to feel & ‘Shakti’ means power; so again Shakti is often coined as the Maya. Now let me come to the story of Indra Jāl. I wrote this poem in Hindi, which is already pasted bellow.
For Hindi readers: just go ahead & for English readers: the extract of the poem is given just afterwards.
    .
I clean my house daily, swami said keep everything clean & tidy, this will help you in the spiritual progress. The mirror has to be clean to able to see the Bramhan. So to my surprise, I saw a spider net at the corner of the wall. I couldn't find the spider but I could see the net broken & left behind. Immediately an advaitin poet visualised this poem; how we create this world (sansara) which is like this spider net, which has existed before this body, it will exist after this body, what we need to focus on is that we are the creator of this net just like the spider; hence shouldn’t feel trapped about our existence. Our true nature is limitless, consciousness, bliss, this roughly translates to Sat-Chit-Ānanda.
    .
I hope this long note has answered the questions, which Don has raised. At least it gives a perspective of an Indian born Advaitin & British learned material scientist. Thanks for your attention & absolute pleasure to see swami ji with Don, or lets say with Dawn (Sandhya Kaal).
    Sri Matrey Namaha.
    .

Advaita Vedanta is by far a superior explanation of consciousness than anything i have ever found. The professor seems to want to introduce his ideas as being unique in some aspects. In some of the professors talks/videos he seems to ignore that it was ancient knowledge/wisdom, mainly ancient India, that have, with utter completeness, explained consciousness in all its intricacies.

Whats interesting about the discussions about the headset and the planck scale, in particular the question that Andy brought up, is that the existence of the planck scale suggests that, much like a game being played in a vr headset, that what we percieve to be a fluid reality of movement around us is in fact pixellated. If there is a limit to how small a unit can be measured, then that must be reflected in how space/time operates, ie. a pixellated reality. Similar to how there is no movement in a movie on a screen - what we percieve as fluid movement is simply a series of still images played in rapid succession.
Its fascinating how well the headset analogy can describe a non-dual reality, both spiritually and scientifically.
An excellent conversation. Thank you Swamiji and Prof. Hoffman.

THE TRUTH ABOUT "SWAMI" VIVEKANANDA & THE RAMAKRISHNA MISSION:
Some of the following three points apply to practically any "religious" organization, not only to the Ramakrishna Mission/Vedanta Society.
Nota bene: I refer to the founder of that pseudo-religious organization by his proper name, Mr. Narendranath Datta, and NOT the name by which he is addressed by the deluded fanatics who follow him, "Swami Vivekananda", for reasons that should become obvious when reading the following.
      1. A spiritual master ought to be a member of the Holy Priesthood (that is, the "brāhmaṇa" class of society, usually wrongly transliterated as "Brahmin"). Mr. Datta was a member of the working-class ("śūdra", in Sanskrit), since he failed to exhibit key characteristics of a genuine brāhmaṇa.
Firstly, he was a drug addict (he died at a young age, due to lung cancer caused by chain smoking tobacco). 🚬
Secondly, he was a carnist. A carnist is a person who considers animals unworthy of moral protection (he virtually suckled on the teats of cows, thus causing undue harm to both himself, to the cows from whom he stole their milk, and of course the poor, innocent calves, who were robbed of their food). 🍼 🐄 🥛
In order to learn of the prerequisites for being a TRUE BRĀHMAṆA, email me for a copy of the Holiest of All Holy Scriptures, "A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity" ("FISH").
      2. The Ramakrishna Mission/Vedanta Society condones the two MOST PERNICIOUS institutions in the history of the planet - democracy and feminism. There is insufficient space in this comment section to properly explicate the reasons why democracy (or, for that matter, any system of non-monarchical governance) and feminism are so adharmic and evil, so, if you are one of the very few souls who is desirous of understanding my reason for stating the above, you should find my Email address in the "About" page of my TH-cam channel.
      3. Because, as mentioned previously, Mr. Datta was an ultra-fundamentalist pseudo-religious fanatic, and an ignorant "śūdra", none of his disciples and grand-disciples, et cetera, can ever attain to self-realization, for as Lord Jesus Christ rightly stated two millennia ago, "A student can never be greater than his teacher".
Therefore, if one has ambition to become even more "realized" than Mr. Datta, it is ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE that he seek training from a guru who is on a higher state of spiritual understanding and realization than Mr. Datta, or any of the current Ramakrishna Mission "sannyasins".
Just to provide a couple of examples for the above accusation, the current head of the Advaita Society of New York, Mr. Vishvarupa (so-called "Swami" Sarvapriyānanda) is a self-confessed candāla (dog-eater), since he consumes the bloody carcasses of poor, innocent animals, and of course, as a member of that demonic organization, he promulgates the second-most pernicious institution in history (feminism). Furthermore, the British woman who hosts his TH-cam channel, Diane Crafford, according to her Facebook profile picture, condones not only unjustified animal slaughter, but she supports the murder of even poor, innocent, defenseless, unborn humans. 👿
In order to study dharma and yoga with the current World Teacher Himself, search for "Jagadguru Svami Vegananda" in Facebook.

I think any theory on reality could be formulated to explain waking existence .. however, the bigger insight is if it has something to say about the paranormal.. like, physical mediumship (Franek Kluski, DD Home, Joseph of Cupertino, Katie the Gold Leaf Lady , Kathleen Goligher , Rudi Schneider, Ariel Farias , Rudi SchneiderKai Mügge , Eusapia Palladino, Scole Experiments, etc), Reincarnation, premonition, remote-viewing/astral-projection, etc.

      1. Yes, precisely, imagine a screen and the movie projection on it, the screen is the consciousness and the movie played out is illusionary, consciousness is real, all others that are merely playing out are mirages, so basically we need to transcend the illusionary plane and there are tools too in philosophies like science where we can accomplish the real 2) Yes, human birth is special and we are surely capable of realizing the absolute, yes in certain sense Earth may be considered a dome and it facilitates progression to reality, thank you

    • @markbatton8371
      @markbatton8371 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

In the end, it is not ONLY nondual,
And the reason this conversation kinda falls off there is because the concept of Ishvara, Narayana is being discarded.
On a way, with the gold and golden ornaments
You are seeing a room full of cups, all thr cups are white, and so you are saying there is no cups there is only white.
So you are discarding the cups.
While discarding the ornaments is a thing, and lead to sanjuya mukti, ... Akin to at death merging into Brahman effulgence... like eternally being in a distinctionless deep sleep.
There are other forms of liberation.
And in all other forms, one retains their individuality.
One should not discard the 2nd or any other chapter of the Bhagavad-gita.
Nor should the Comments of Sankaracharya about Krsna and Narayana be discarded

    • @markbatton8371
      @markbatton8371 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

So let me explain. You go to sleep, and you dream. In the dream there are many beings who are all apart of you.. but you do not know it.
The misstep is taken by Advaitas when they believe they are the "dreamer". But they are not.. the dreamer is Narayana.
And Krsna has guaranteed that one never looses their individuality.
So "you" the awareness does never become destroyed.
You are part of the nondual substance that is the dream.
But you are NOT the entire nondual substance.
You are part and parcel of the nondual substance.
      Jiva atman.
And not only from Krsna are there one universe.. one yoga Nidra Narayana, but there are "Unlimited universes"
With unlimited Narayana mirror like the sun in the sky is mirrored into all of the puddles of water on earth.
The material nature is a "mirror" of this Parabrahman.
You cannot say that the Parabrahman does not have individuality, because everything that has emerged is part of it.
If you have individuality, it has individuality as well.
      It is a "person"

    • @markbatton8371
      @markbatton8371 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@naveenreddy6245 it is both dual and nondual
      Not only nondual
Advaita is saying there is no difference between a cup of water and the ocean of water.
But that is not true, the ocean can produce tsunamis, storms ect ect.
Yes they are both H20 , but they are vastly different.
So yes I accept the nondual nature, and even have had experience of it.
But I also accept the dual nature, these things are clearly explained by Sri Krsna in Bhagavad-gita

If mathematics is so limited that it can't define the taste of chocolate experience how could it describe consciosness? One is also a number. It is mathematical. It is an object. Everywhere, everytime. So it belongs to space and time. And so you can't describe the undescribable. Not even with math.
On the Vedanta part: "eternal" and "everywhere" are still concepts of time and space. Also it is very popular to say that all religions point to the same point but it is not true as they were constructed by people mainly for political, control purposes. Relegions are further headsets.
The explanation of the wrongness of the why question is on spot though! 😃
Yes, non-dual consciousness is the fundamental. One can't describe this with matematics from the avatar level.
