I just fired mine after the upgrade, and let me tell you, it is worth it. it was finally a joy to shoot, with out ANY issues. I would actually consider it for conceal carry with the 30 rounds, that's a lot of stopping power there. Thanks you MCARBO.
Using TH-cam to repair or maintain just about everything from clothes washers to firearms. You are by far the best on showing and explaining what’s going on. So many time I am yelling at the computer “MOVE YOUR FINGER” or “show me what you just did” or “turn on some lights to show what you are doing”. BRAVO! Well done, I will be looking for more!
Thanks for saving my sanity. Traded for one of these and couldn't even feed first round. The reason, the buffer was so melted, it was jammed all through the slide. Ordered the all-in-one kit from MCarbo, and 10 buffers from KelTec. Can't wait to see how this thing runs when I get everything replaced. Thought I had just traded for a lemon, now I know I'll be able to make lemonade.
the overtravel screw...have the threaded hole completely thru the trigger so it can be adjusted from the front so you don't have to disassemble the weapon to adjust it.
Thank you so much for including an extra tiny piece of wire in the new recoil springs. At the last second mine bounced off my thumb and was lost to my floor for eternity. I spent about 10 minutes looking around and using a magnet to try and find it. When I returned to my desk I found the newly included wire in the bag. Awesome job guys! Thanks for thinking ahead.
Did all upgrades as directed in video. First mag had one stove pipe. Second had zero. Thank you MCARBO! For the first time in a few years that gun is finally fun.
Do The Buffer! You went this far Chris, now take it to the end zone! I just installed the feed ramps and mag releases on my pmr/cmr and they are works of art.
I've not had any issues with my PMR although I've only put about 500 rounds thru it. But I wanna buy this kit just because of the way this dude talks on this great video. And seriously....how many times do you see guys handle mistakes rather than editing them out.

This video made it extremely easy to install this upgrade. I really like the feel and smooth operation of my PMR 30. I will be on the lookout for other upgrades in the future.
Just did this and a couple notes. The mag release screw/Stud was reversed on my gun. The hammer spring pin popped off and even though the hammer was forward it dropped back. So I needed to get the hammer back up which was simple. Just make sure you work on this in a area where if a part flies you can find it, I almost lost the hammer spring pin. My kit included a 2nd wire for the slide spring. I also did the slide lock upgrade which included 2 extra screws. The only hard part was the recoil spring wire which I saved because I didn't see the new one. Great video! I have a torque screw driver and the factory screws seem to be torqued about 3in lbs.
Great job on the video. The lighting, views, and sequence explanation are beautiful. Especially the slide stop. I had trouble after I got both sides reassembled but noticed SOMETHING wasn't right. The slide stop had come off its base and it is very hard to realize without seeing the explanation/lesson you have here. Thanks again.
This is the package I got with MCARBO and definitely made it a new gun. Shoots perfect, it’s light and accurate. I have also bought many parts , mainly lighter trigger springs and such for many shotguns and rifles I have . Love me some MCARBO. ❤
I love my pmr 30, can't wait to get some up grades, however as long as you only use full metal jackets it works fine the way it is, but who wants to just do that when there are so many other choices
Please make an aluminum buffer. Also I just bought my all in one kit and can't wait to install it. Great video too. I feel much more comfortable after watching this. I'm really looking forwarded to this upgrade.
Yes, yes, yes on the non-melting buffer. Also, I know you only need it once (hopefully), but an improved spring retainer for the recoil springs would sure be nice and not that big a deal!!!
Like to see the improved buffer and the recoil spring wire replacement, we know what gonna happen with that if were not careful. Would be nice to be able to stick the whole of 50 box count in to a mag but this kit upgrade is awesome!
Should be a simple mold extension to make a mag that will hold the whole box of 50. It would add almost 3" to the mag, 2.5 for the ammo space and another .5" for the extra spring length.
Definitely upgrade the buffer so that we don't have to go through the Meltdown process and have to wait for someone to make it letting our firearm catch dust!
Just another example of where Kel-Tec goes the cheapest route for the parts in their guns. Don't know how hot it gets there if you rapid fire a couple of mags, but the engineers should have anticipated owners doing something lke that and designed a part capable of withstanding a lot more heat than 60 rounds of rapid might produce. Big mags invite rapid shooting, sort of brings out the Rambo in you.
i'm one of the rare few that hasn't had any problems at all with my pmr, i'm still buyin this kit tho, seems like cheap insurance for what i consider a fantastic weapon
I’ll be looking forward to ordering this stuff once my sub2k stuff comes in and gets done. Can’t wait to have the p17, pmr 30, cp33 and sub2k running great once I’m able to make it to the range. Would like to see the buffer replacement just for peace of mind. One less thing to worry about.
Flitz polish is amazing, safe and very inexpensive. Their Powerball drill attachments are great too. I'm a professional detailer, I have endless polishes and tools on hand, and I still reach for the Flitz regularly. You can even use it on glass to get rid of water spots. 👍👌✌
i just bought the pmr30 kit and installed it. I sent the guide rod spring to M*CARBO to install because i lost the first clip and washer and it drove me crazy. It was $35 with shipping both ways , well worth it to me. Makes it a great reliable fun gun to shoot. Reliable now to even consider for EDC. I also bought the M*CARBO m series sub2000. Makes a novelty type gun into a reliable, great shooting weapon. . The sub2000 shouldn't be sold without this complete upgrade. Please put out the improved pmr buffer.
I love the extended Mag idea. A mag that holds a whole box of ammo would be epic. Of course the buffer. But I'll also throw out the idea of an extended rail for the cmr30. That be pretty cool.
I think at that point Glock might have this beaten (you can get drums for Glock, and I’d say a normal magazine is 33 round stick mag at like $15 or less). The cool factor of this PMR30 to me is that it’s normal size, no extension, otherwise you might as well get a calico which comes in the lowest capacity of 50x 9mm and their standard capacity is 100x 9mm and of course works on their pistol, (but it over doubles in its weight when loaded). They also make a 100x .22 rifle so if the NFA was unconstitutional you could of course bear that arm however you saw comfortable and have a pistol in a cheap plinking caliber with a bunch of ammo. I don’t know, ruins the mainstream clean look to me if it’s extended mag since there are so many options for common pistols in lots of calibers, it loses the nice aesthetics and would just be like a normal handgun with extended mag to me. Not that I’d ever complain about a gun having too adequate of capacity (I’d rather have 50x too many bullets after a gunfight than 1 too few).
@@jakegarrett8109 Looks wise it be funky on the handgun, but on the rifle it be very practical/tactical. I got plenty of Glocks and fun sticks but I don't trust the Korean products. If only Magpul would release there promised drums.
Just finished Trigger and enhanced mag release, works fine testing tomorrow…. Will now do it again for feed ramp which I “FORGOT” to put on my order! Going to add Alum safety levers also.
Mothers mag and aluminum wheel polish is the possibly greatest polish there is for cleaning up machining scares and flashing. No. 7 works really well to.
Thank you for the great video, I purchased the upgrade kit but had to wait until I could get a second pmr since my pops will not give my first one back. Lol I would love to see and upgraded buffer. It is way to hard to quit pulling the trigger to let it cool down. I just saw the video on the wrap around grip so now making another shopping list. Thank you for a great product and great service.
Hello. I bought this kit from you, and I must say, I am elated on the difference this has made. My pmr is a runner now! Night and day difference! Finally I can rely on this firearm. As for the buffer pad issue, I highly suggest making a silicone replacement, as the silicone will not melt. It would perform very well, would be easy to clean, and very cheap to manufacture. Thanks again!
For the buffer melting issue. I would recommend making a mold of a factory new buffer and then trying various consistencies (density) of silicon to achieve the buffering effect while allowing for a higher temp tolerance.
I melted the buffer with two or more mag dumps and then it broke the take down pin in half! Luckily keltec was great and sent me all new parts for free. I own two pmr 30s and will be getting this kit for one to try out! Thanks
Yep, I've melted a buffer before. I found the replacement easily on Kel tec's site and it was here in a few days. But Y'all need to come up with something that'll last. It seemed to melt pretty quickly. It's been a while but I remember being surprised how few mags it was in the dump before it malfunctioned. By the way, love Mcarbo. I live in Dunedin and have been to your shop. Y'all did the full Monty on my Sub-2000. I just bought PMR-30 kit.
Outstanding kit! I never had the misfortune of firing a bad PMR-30 because I installed this first. Took forever to install though...20 minutes to put the parts in and 3 hours looking for the damn retaining wire on the floor. Haha! Gun fires GREAT and accurate! Love the adjustable trigger. Buffers please, and thanks for a great product!
I love polishing too. All my feed ramps are super polished!!! My local Hardware stores aren’t carrying Flitz paste any more! 😡😡😡😡 they have Flitz, but it is a watered down version.
Love the excellent video that "fully" demonstrates the upgrade process. I have a PMR-30 which has been fine but can say this would be a huge plus to its operation and enjoyment. Haven't melted the buffer as I don't high speed it. WMR isn't the cheapest round, but the buffer enhancement and the replacement spring retainer in the kit make sense. I will shortly be buying one of THESE upgrade bundles FOR SURE!
I finally got my kit, and can't wait to get to the range. I think a new buffer would be a great idea, but what about just including a whole new guide rod with the spring kit already installed? Would definitely be worth a few more $$ to be able to drop that in. Just a thought.
JUST bought my PMR-30 today and want to THANK YOU for all the effort you're putting into this great little gun and these mods and videos!! I want to break it in stock with one trip the the range. But will be ordering some goodies SOON!
As for the buffer....from a business standpoint I wouldn’t need to be pushed to make more money. Make the damn buffer already. You keep us happy and you make money
Great job. Great fix. Great person doing the video. Really better than a college class. Thank You. Planning on purchasing pmr and cmr. See you for your all in one bundles.
Regarding the plastic buffer at the front of the gun that keeps melting with heavy use --- This would be best replaced by a formed piece of high temp Teflon such as you would find used in steam fittings of hydraulic cylinders. Some of the steam fitting (packing material for valve stems) Teflon is actually rather soft and would provide a great cushion and resist the effects of the heat greatly. My observations on installing the kit: 1. When removing the retaining ring wire from the slide spring assembly, it is far easier to hold the springs compressed when the assembly is still in the slide. It's sort of an even wash when trying to reinstall the ring. It is a little difficult to insert the spring assembly into the slide without them being captured by the ring but reinstallation of the ring is much easier because the compressed slide assembly is easier to hold in your one free hand. 2. I found it much easier to get the slide lock lever spring back into place by letting the lock lever's open C foot off the post so you have less to push the spring and it's more in the open. Once the spring is in the hole it's and easy small push to move the C foot back over the post. 3. With the two halves separated, I had no need for the alignment pin for the mag release spring and new release button. I simply made sure the post remained with the working half of the gun assembly and just popped the new part right in and held the spring with my fingers. I only had to chase it once... ;-)
And here I am like one or two parts short....coulda shoulda woulda. Lovin the PMR30 now that it's broke in and up-parted. Had best day so far today with my CP 33 too. About 500 rounds, very few issues.... mostly with "wrong" ammo anyway. Action really smoothing out. And yes, I'm expecting some new stuff next Tuesday for it. Great fun to choot! And, most importantly, I am happy to support a company like MCARBO. Us Army 83-87, Support of Big Red One, Ft Riley.
Watching and listening as I post. Impressed by the thoroughness of this tutorial. Heck, not sure if doable but I would prefer to send u my 30 and get this done. I have found though that using the Federal 50gr and mine seems to fire flawlessly. The trigger , also, seems very soft already. Still, improvements to any firearm are always welcome. Super post! 😷🍀🇺🇸⛄️
i'll probably have to email chris at his office, take up his valuable time just to tell him.... "where's the buffer chris?" but let me tell you this all in one bundle is the bomb!! quality thru and thru!! i'll let you know of the results later, right now it's about the upgrade.
PLEASE MAKE AN IMPROVED BUFFER!!! Is it possible to make a buffer out of material that don’t melt? You guys do a great job! I got the entire kit for the Ruger LCP 380, and this thing has never worked this good since I bought it! Keep up the good work!
Just received bundle for my pmr 30 I was going to pay a pro to install but honestly after just watching this video I’m going to do it myself thanks for the very informative video now wish me luck!
@29:00 that was a bear! It took me about 10 minutes of trying many times, and getting plenty of light on it to see, but she finally hit the hole, it would have been impossible without the special tool from M*CARBO!
I got my PMR-30 bundle and before I did anything else I went ahead and polished the stainless feed ramp before pulling the gun apart. The kit went in without a hitch and I took my gun to the range today and really the biggest thing I noticed was how well the mag sit in the mag well. Gun performed flawlessly with Federal 50 gr., Armscore 40 gr. and Hornady 45 gr. critical defense. The guy shooting next to me just had to try the gun, it is a blast to shoot! Would like to see a heavy duty buffer developed by M*Carbo.
I just finished the all in one kit a few minutes ago,. It's a great value, shipping was fast and it is definitely worth every penny. It's just as easy as the video with the exception of that stupid wire around the recoil springs, it obviously wasn't his first time, lol. It kinda sucked. I'd send em a pic of the target shot up but I didn't get one. Great job MCARBO!!!!
I just completed the kit except for the spring. I didn’t want to mess with the cheap spring clip. Yes. Design and offer a better buffer and spring clip, the gun is unique and fun. However, these and other upgrades are needed to move this from a novelty gun to a real sturdy firearm.
Glad I held off buying the pmr until now. Super well done filming, detail explanation, and editing. Plan on buying a few for my zombie apoc homes. Have you tried high temp rubber to replace damper? Or delrin/rubber layered?
I do not own a PMR-30 I always like to concept I'm having 30 rounds but why do they not have a choice have been able to buy this pistol complete I don't know too many people want to screw around with a kit I think I'll wait to buy a PMR I love Celtic but I'm going to wait till I can buy a PMR complete thank you
Its all about cost over production. If they do everything Mcarbo does they drive up the cost, slow the production. All that kills the price point and profit margin. Personally I take great satisfaction from doing my own upgrading, MC just makes it easier.
@@lewstherin826 Profit always drives the ship. By the looks of all of the molded and injected plastic parts it would seem that the real costs were in the orgininal R&D and now cranking them out in volume has to have recovered all of the development costs a long time ago and they're sitting in the sweet spot of low production cost and high profit. Kel-Tec likes to inovate but ends up going low ball on the materials. A stock Sub 2000 is a great idea made as cheaply as possible, but then a niche market has opened up for an outfit like Mcarbo to come up with quality upgraded parts that vastly improve the product. As long as Kel-Tec is selling lots of them and making money it would appear they're happy with the status quo, besides a "tactical" model with metal parts would be an admission that they used cheapo plastic where everyone else uses metal. I look at it from a total cost standpoint, how much extra does it cost beyond the purchase price to get it working the way it should have been from the factory versus buying something else. In terms of the Sub 2000 there just isn't anything else like it, but it needs a bunch of upgraded parts to improve it and make it relaible over the long term which drives up the cost of ownership.
@@wilycoyote9091 That's a FACT. I am in the middle of polishing a sub ATM... Starting with the Bolt, bolt head and receiver. bolt is almost ready and super slick. Smooth action mean everything to me. And doesn't cost be a few pennies and time.
I have not had any problems with my PMR30. Bought it used/new at local gun and pawn. Now when I changed barrels to aftermarket longer barrel it had horrible feed problems.
adaboy4z ......Excel Arms makes a 22 mag with an 8.5 inch bbl in stainless, or blue steel. The ‘Accelerator’. The magazine only holds around 7 or 10 rounds.
I ordered the kit today and went ahead at the same time and ordered a recoil guide/spring assembly from kel-tec because I know I'm going to screw up or lose that little wire retainer that holds the springs in place.

Very nice. Thanks for the video. You really have a talent for teaching. Wonderfully clear. Ya gotta do the buffer and that extra wire thingy.
I have over 2000 rounds through mine with zero malfunctions. Love it.
The upgrade is awesome, love this pistol now! Installed in October 2020!! Thanks MCarbo! And Ya-Huh please on a new buffer!!
Very good detailed instructions 👍
Thank you for the great video, I purchased the upgrade kit but had to wait until I could get a second pmr since my pops will not give my first one back. Lol
I would love to see and upgraded buffer. It is way to hard to quit pulling the trigger to let it cool down. I just saw the video on the wrap around grip so now making another shopping list. Thank you for a great product and great service.
MCARBO is the BEST!!...Excelent quality parts and you come out with state of the art ideas ...
YEAH! Like it. Please to the buffer and guide rod clip. I'd actually like to see a replacement guide rod and e-clip
Great long, long, ....long video. Extremely informative. Great walk through process.
Just stumbled onto this. Definitely going to invest!
Yes. Great video. Please include the the little wire ring and better buffer in the all in one kit!! Guys will thank you a million times!
👍👍 great products I'm buying more
An improved buffer for the CMR-30 would be awesome! Thanks!
JUST bought my PMR-30 today and want to THANK YOU for all the effort you're putting into this great little gun and these mods and videos!! I want to break it in stock with one trip the the range. But will be ordering some goodies SOON!
Rockin' the Skilcraft staple remover, Nice!
I'm always biitchin; but I LOVE KEL-TEC. You guys are great!!! I'm just old and grumpy,,, he he he, so please keep up the good work!!!!
Regarding the plastic buffer at the front of the gun that keeps melting with heavy use ---
This would be best replaced by a formed piece of high temp Teflon such as you would find used in steam fittings of hydraulic cylinders. Some of the steam fitting (packing material for valve stems) Teflon is actually rather soft and would provide a great cushion and resist the effects of the heat greatly.
My observations on installing the kit:
I only had to chase it once... ;-)
Random youtube confirmation review: These MCarbo accessories make it run like a clock. Absolute recommend to anyone who is on the fence.
Awesome! Thanks Brother
All you need is a good speed loader I bought one on Amazon. The gun works perfect now.
Best video I’ve seen on gun repair
Watching and listening as I post. Impressed by the thoroughness of this tutorial. Heck, not sure if doable but I would prefer to send u my 30 and get this done.
I have found though that using the Federal 50gr and mine seems to fire flawlessly. The trigger , also, seems very soft already.
Still, improvements to any firearm are always welcome.
Super post!
😷🍀🇺🇸⛄️
Excellent video👍🏻 We definitely need to improve that buffer. Thank you.
My kit is in transit. Yes. A better buffer is a must and additional recoil spring circular clips. I’ll buy them to add to my gun.
Picked up my PMR-30 yesterday! I want that 5 inc barrel tho lol
i'll probably have to email chris at his office, take up his valuable time just to tell him.... "where's the buffer chris?" but let me tell you this all in one bundle is the bomb!! quality thru and thru!! i'll let you know of the results later, right now it's about the upgrade.
Great "How To" video!
Dam what a great video!!!!! Thank you I will be buying the kit loader!!! Yes would love a new clip an buffer...
PLEASE MAKE AN IMPROVED BUFFER!!! Is it possible to make a buffer out of material that don’t melt? You guys do a great job! I got the entire kit for the Ruger LCP 380, and this thing has never worked this good since I bought it! Keep up the good work!
I don't have one of these guns but I was mesmerized by the video and how easy it seems to do these upgrades.
You have the most informative videos in TH-cam history
Just received bundle for my pmr 30 I was going to pay a pro to install but honestly after just watching this video I’m going to do it myself thanks for the very informative video now wish me luck!
I've fired a PMR 30 before. Really nice and accurate.
It's kel tech your lucky if it fired
@29:00 that was a bear! It took me about 10 minutes of trying many times, and getting plenty of light on it to see, but she finally hit the hole, it would have been impossible without the special tool from M*CARBO!
Oil and grease, runs perfect
Agree with the improved buffer. I'll be the first in line.
Me too
The mirror finish on the feed ramp looks impressive, but I always polish feed ramps in the direction the bullet travels.
Wow.... I just recently heard of this pistol and have to say I’m excited to purchase a 22 💪💯💯
Good job with good improvements 👍
Do the buffer, I installed your bundle there were a couple of tricky parts but over all went great
I just finished the all in one kit a few minutes ago,.
Definitely buying this. Also definitely need a better buffer and also a better firing pin. Then release it as the "all in two" bundle
Awesome vid. Minus the cost of the Kel Tec, what's the cost? Is this a service you provide or is it just the cost for the bundle? Thank you.
Why doesn't Kel Tec just make all these fixes and re-brand the pistol as the PMR -30 Tactical and discontinue the old model.
Amen... KelTec needs to get on it
I do not own a PMR-30 I always like to concept I'm having 30 rounds but why do they not have a choice have been able to buy this pistol complete I don't know too many people want to screw around with a kit I think I'll wait to buy a PMR I love Celtic but I'm going to wait till I can buy a PMR complete thank you
Its all about cost over production.
This is awsome. Please keep making more parts. I am buying 2 bundle kits now.
Very nice guys! Thanks
