Badly Translated Paper Mario 64 (Chapter 1 & 2)

- “Mario can never win!” - Princess Peach
This is what happens when you take Paper Mario 64 and run it through Google Translate one too many times. You're left with “Book of Mario 64.” The mistranslated text completely changes certain characters, creates a new story, and adds in a few ridiculous comments. I streamed this on my Twitch ( / stryder7x ) in November & December 2019, but just a warning, some of the clips contain innuendos, language, and dark humor depending on how you interpret things. Of course, this dialogue is not endorsed by Nintendo.
My personal favorite aspect is when the lore from this translation is unintentionally expanded upon. For example, Goombario, now "Goverman," ends up fighting the “Common Man” in Chapter 4. Many of the characters talk about businesses (Kooper’s name is now “Corporate” to top things off) and due to the original plot revolving around stars and wishes, the game was mistranslated to have religious themes. Because Google Translate is contextual, these mistranslations are somewhat consistent throughout the entire game.
I've been taking a break from the glitch content since I burn out easily. When you play a game for hours every day with the sole intention of finding or explaining glitches, this is bound to happen I suppose. This best explains my tendency to disappear from the channel for months at a time. Just trying something different this time, in the form of the stream highlights format a lot of you guys seem to enjoy. Thank you for understanding!

Unlike Paper Mario TTYD which only the main line stuff was translated, Paper Mario 64 is ENTIRELY translated including all side quests, items/recipes, and all conversations with NPCs.

@@fakefirstnamefakelastname8305 It wasn't, you can download the mod yourself and find that most of the stuff wasn't translated. Or you could watch Stryder's stream on Twitch and see that he checked out a lot of the NPC dialogue to find that it was largely unchanged.
@@justcallmeSven i doubt the one who did the translating remembers exactly what languages were chosen. those with a lot of multiple meanings or grammatical differences get the best result

@@gifigi6006 it's a bit of a stretch but I can see how strategy would change to politics, they're similar in a vague way. Plus often times there are words which mean 2 different things. Ball and balls for example

They have an entire wiki on the Book of Mario, which includes a ton of lore I didn't know just from these videos alone, since they were described in such cryptic riddles.
For example, the War is constantly mentioned through out the two games, it began before Book of Mario 64, and hasn't ended even after Thousands of Doors. Countries involved include Persia, the EU, Great Britain, and Russia. The US is currently neutral in the conflict.
