Wonderful idea that came out great. I have carbon fiber scales coming for Para 3 CPM S45VN. Now I know what to do with my original G10 although it also may be smart to keep them stock in case I need to send it in for warranty purposes. Thanks for the video.

Very cool of you to give Nick credit for the mod. I was lucky enough to have 5 of my para 3s skinnied

I’ve been considering doing this mod along with grinding the humongous land yard tube off the end and rounding it off at the pocket clip holes

Thanks for sharing, just what I was looking for. I have a Shaman on the way and I'm contemplating taking the same action. Have a good one.

A work sharp would be also good as a belt sander! I use it for Kodex sheath all the time.

You can do it to a para 2! Bench grinder for the steel liners and then fine grit sandpaper to finish it off!

This voids the warranty am I correct?

@@Josephiah24 I'm sure it does, who cares there warranty is a joke anyways, you can fix any issue with the knife yourself easy. You can't even put custom scales on without voiding warranty. You know how many people customize their knives!? There is alot! Especially spydercos!

Thanks for the tutorial! I just picked up a para 3 from the Spyderco factory seconds sale and I want to try this mod. How rigid are g10 scales? Would I be able to get similar results if I clamped the scales together (with the metal liner side facing out so I can see the cutout) then hit it with the dremel? This is my first “good” knife and first attempt at modding so I don’t want to screw it up too bad haha

You could try a dab of super glue on painters' tape to hold them perfectly together.

Why not just reverse the scales so you have a better visual ?

Was wondering about that also. I did a skinny mod a few times but I did it with the scales apart from the knife.
      Way easier 🙄
