    Great video and info, I have almost the identical car but the 2020 model, I can tell its a lot quieter than the 2018 models even with the exhausts valves open or in dynamic, you really have to drive it hard to get any pops out of it. all that said I have to say not only is it the best sports car Ive very owed its probably the best thing Ive every bought, anyone considering buying an F-type I would say buy it, every time I walk out the house and see it makes me smile, every time I take it out for a drive it makes me happy, its awesome, I new it was going to cost me a lot of money to run but you know what I don't care.

    I guess you'd need to add £4-7K of depreciation in that cost of ownership too.

    I owned this type Jag for 4 years, drove it to 100,000 miles after 4 years. All I did was change the oil every 3000 miles and drove it easy, not like a maniac as driven in this video. Not one problem.

    Lovely car I’ve got the same 1 in 2019 British racing green, I run it only 7 months of the year. I discovered 2 bushings on the front where slightly out of alignment as a result the inner part of the front wheels (wear) need replacement this coming year. It only has 13,800 km on the car but each pirelli tire is almost 600$ Canadian per tire, of course Jaguar recommended all tires be change to keep the wear the same, I’m contesting my existing warranty stating little cheap bushings shouldn’t cost be 2400 + 500 labor at 13,800 km. Apart from that the car has been cheap to run. Compared to my previous Aston Martin db9 -2009 it’s been very reasonable.

    Maybe I was lucky but I have a 2016 V8 R and my past 12 months' cost was:
    - £700 for MOT + Service + Rear diff oil change
    - £900 for a full set of Michelin PS4S tyres just because I didn't like the Pirellis
    - £640 insurance
    - £660 road tax
    - and fuel of course for 6000 miles driven
    You could say I am super happy with that but even if it cost me £12,000 I still wouldn't care because I love my car as much 😍 as I love my family 😄

    Hi mate I'm looking at picking up an F-type R in the middle of next year. Just got a couple of questions, I too am not really fond of the smaller 8 inch infotainment system, where did you get the 10inch replacement done? Also how do you find the car with the standard steel brakes? Been watching your videos for some time now and they're doing a very good job at persuading me to pull the trigger on one of these amazing cars!

    • @MrGB_UK
      @MrGB_UK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for a great comment and I’m glad that the videos have been useful to you! I had a company in the UK called LR Retrofits fit the screen. They use genuine Jaguar parts and software. I can’t fault them
      I find that the brakes are more than adequate for road driving. I dare say if you were regularly doing aggressive track driving, the CCBs would be better. The only reason I’d get CCBs is for the aesthetics. The servicing costs of those brakes somewhat puts me off!! Haha

    • @ZoltanF1LH
      @ZoltanF1LH ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All I would add is that I asked LR Retrofits if they could change my infotainment on my 2016 F-Type and they replied with: "Unfortunately the retrofit is only possible on a MY18+ F-Type"
      So if that's important to you then don't get an earlier model.

      Thanks for a great comment Andy. That’s quite the question! Unsurprisingly, I am biased towards the F Type. Much more Morden, and more of a sports car opposed to a grand tourer. I think your best bet would be to test drive both and see what works for you. It’s not apples for apples with the XKR and a 3.0 V6 F Type. Both have their merits and detractors. I’m sure you wouldn’t be disappointed with either! Good luck with the hunt

    Great overview MrGB. In Canada my 18 R coupe costs about $1,600 (£1,000) insurance per year. About $100(£62) licence. Fuel runs $1.20-$1.80 per litre (£.75-£1.11)
    New set of Michelin PS4S was $2,800(£1,730). Original P zero lasted only 20,000km on rear. Fronts about 40% left.
    Do my own oil changes. Castrol Edge professional. About $250(£155)
    Only repair in 20,000km is front diff seal leak (warranty)
    What do you think caused headlight cracking? Sunlight,stones,temperature swings? Mine still look like new. But stored inside always, and not winter driven.
    Cheers

    • @MrGB_UK
      @MrGB_UK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for a great comment. Those costs seem pretty in Keeping with what we see in the UK.
      I think it was a fairly common issue with the headlights, as there’s a fair bit online with people looking to fix it. I originally tried to remove the lenses and replace them, but they were stuck on there pretty good! I think it’s either UV or extremes of temperature that causes it

  • @LagunaLeonhart
    @LagunaLeonhart ปีที่แล้ว

    Just what I was looking for. With the headlights, did you add some UV protection or something since they cracked the first time around?
    Have you got another video for just the maintenance rather than mods?
    I think they're two totally separate things. Mods are optional but maintenance isn't so it would be great to know the typical maintenance cost along with common things than might go wrong or need replacing

    • @MrGB_UK
      @MrGB_UK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @MrGB_UK
      @MrGB_UK  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s good going. I hadn’t included depreciation as that is hugely subjective (and I wanted to preserve my sanity!!) I’d be interested to see where these cars hit the bottom of their price curve. I’d imagine about £25-30k

  • @kriskantu
    @kriskantu ปีที่แล้ว

    MrGB, a bit off topic. Will you consider buying the F Pace SVR before 2025 to replace your current F Pace? It will be the last supercharged V8. Everything after that is some hybrid variant or full ev.
    I'm thinking of getting the F Pace SVR myself before then. Half price compared to the Aston Martin and performance wise, it's not lacking - sub 4 seconds 0-60.

    • @MrGB_UK
      @MrGB_UK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A great question and thanks for dropping a comment! I probably wouldn’t be in the market for the F Pace SVR. I have the F type as a ‘fun’ car. I’d probably be looking at the P300e F pace, as it sits on the motorway a lot with my work. I don’t need two 5.0 v8s (as nice as it would be!!)
      If I didn’t have the F type, I would definitely be looking at an F Pace SVR to cover both bases

    Not sure this was a great video for the Joe average like me. I have had my 2017 V8-R Cabriolet for 4 years now & it has only cost the ins-tax-& service . The service from Hatfield Jaguar Wakefield was only £280. 2 tyres which were goosed when i bought the car. 1 Cat failed left bank but was changed under warrantee as car was under 3 years old. Thanks for posting , but maybe a true update video is in order so not to frighten folk off buying one. Also do a compare with the Lambo.- Ferrari.- Mclaren & R8. They all cost an arm & a leg to own & are all unreliable. That 5.0 Jag engine is a great piece of engineering & extremely reliable.

    Most people including myself have to add Vandalism and damage costs yearly from Jealous shit-head scum to the cost of running a sports car and the damage happened in whats know as decent and affluent places to park, and yes, it was deliberate damaged kicked and scratched. owning a sports car of any type or make has loads of hassle your a target from Jealous thugs, the police pulling you over just because you drive a sports car. you cart leave the car parked in certain places due to damage and theft. (Running costs and parts are part of the ownership so that's fine) neighbours can complain due to the sporty exhaust note when you come home late on evenings.
