I too use my F Type R nearly every day. I run errands, pick up groceries, go to fast food drive ups and I commute from Wichita to Oklahoma City a couple times a month for work (and get 28 mpg doing it). My wife has been a very good sport about taking the Jag out to dinner only to find the restaurant we are heading for is 50 miles away sometimes. We all spend a lot of our life in our cars and there is no better place to be than the cockpit of an F Type.

I really appreciate your vids, Connor! As previously mentioned, this last weekend I installed wheel spacers on my 2017 SVR for the winter tires (OZ Racing 19s), and it was easy thanks to your video. Used 20mm spacers and just had to cut off about 2mm of the wheel studs. I've got the Mina intake tube upgrades that I will put on this winter, too (adding heat insulation to them). I'm definitely going to do your Stage 2 tune when my warranty expires...Thanks for sharing your handiwork - Zoom Zoom!

Yo! Thank you so much for the F-type vids! You have some great points about jag ownership! I am about to pull the trigger on a used 2020 R-dynamic. I really like everything this car offers, including the depreciation hit by the previous owner! xD. It'd be so awesome if there was someone like you doing vids on V6s models.
Thanks for another great video. I recently had a hood latch and an o2 sensor replaced under warranty. The hood latch switch was preventing the car from going to sleep and the car would drain and i always got low batt. Dealership diagnosed it after leaving it on a parasitic charge leak test and found it. It was an odd one so thought i’d share.
I am very interested in the lower pulley and tune. I have the aftermarket upper pulleys on both of my Jags.I have a 2010 Jaguar XF/SC, and a 2014 XJ-R they have been super reliable.
I love my F-type R convertible and drive it pretty much every day except for winter. It hasn't seen snow yet and I plan to keep it that way. Got a Porsche Macan turbo for winter.

Love that they left those out for show. Can you tell me if that's in a sense a partial cage if you will? "Cage" is a bit too far but if you could bring that aspect up maybe in future videos that would be interesting. Thanks

Happy to share it. Just ask.
Thanks so much for the comment! I completely agree the exhaust note is just incredible. That’s a shame it won’t let you write how to make the exhaust sing too!
Great video as always, I might be pulling the blower and porting it over the winter😈it looks like Mina gallery now makes a full Intake system instead up just upper pipes. Going to be a busy winter lol

Thanks for very informative video. I've been thinking about buying a used convertible type r. Do you happen to know if there's a way to fit a set of golf clubs in the convertible?
Great videos. I'm currently in the market for a 2015 F-Type R (selling my super low mileage near perfect condition 2016 Golf R which I really like but just need that RWD muscle thrill). Prices on the jags (ahem, everything) have bumped up 5-10% over the past year for sure, but hopefully the one I'm offering on at present will come through! @Conner. Dude AWESOME REVIEW/OVERALL Running Costs. Question. How many miles total did you drive your F-Type in its first year of ownership? Daily/AutoCross/Racing Thanks Tim
Perfect timing on this video. Yesterday, I test drove a 2017 F-Type R. Incredible. Simply incredible. I have an XF and am looking to trade-up. The only issue I could identify with the F-Type was that the accelerator and brake peddle are so close together that I found it was hard not to step on both at the same time. Have you found this to be an issue with your F-Type? If so, were you able to get used to it fairly quickly? Thank for your videos. Again, I’ve learned more from you about the F-Type than any other source.
Lovely car mate, I just discovered your channel but it's sad to see you've sold it!! I'm considering moving away from my 981 cayman gts to one of these and this review definitely helped. Next step, test drive 😁 Out of interest- did yours have the Meridean speakers? My dad has an XFS and they sound superb. My cayman has upgraded sound system (not bose) and they sound awful!
Have you considered the Unique Auto Development module to install CarPlay/AndroidAuto on the factory screen? I have installed it on mine and It brought my 2016 F-Type R up to 2020 standards 👍🏼
No lag on mine - and the screen is a decent size. It’s not HD but still very clear and responsive. And it looks completely stock which was a big deal for me. Agreed on the "blacking" out of your window trim. I have the same 2015 R same white . I actually had a place chrome delete the car as they call it. In other words anything chrome, was changed to black all the way down to the Jaguar cat symbol. Additionally I had the rims powder coated to a gloss black. All told the rims and chrome blacking was $800 which I thought was very reasonable. Especially here in California. It completely changed the look of the car. I went ahead with my plan to wrap the car as I had already put down a deposit. The wrap is a dark gray. It looks very nice but I'm equally as happy knowing that when the time comes to remove the wrap,, I will still have a look that I am very happy with. But back to the point, you can really change the look of the car with some cost effective touches.
Wheels are tough to find for the f type, they are 5x108 and hardly anyone else uses 5x108.. so you’ll most likely have to get custom drilled ones from a higher end brand
Per the supercharger upgrade...what are you thoughts about the car's long-term reliability with all that extra power going to the transmission, rear diff etc?
Seals work best if you soak them in whatever the fluid is that you're going to install them into. Awesome! You have to be careful cuz sometimes they have it inner lip that you have to get over the piece before you try pressing on the main body. Otherwise your fold the lip back and rip it and then of course it's going to fail. The other thing is is that sometimes I'll have a metal sleeve and instead of putting a socket or something against a metal sleeve or better yet, using a bearing seater, people will hammer on the rubber piece. 😂
The 2014 and 2015 R’s are goin to be collectibles one day. RWD cars that won’t be made anymore bc they are too crazy. Sounds like a future collectible to me
Any issues/experiences with the known supercharger coupler/isolator? I'm considering purchasing an F type , but it's an early first year 2014MY. Just trying to get an idea on what I'm getting myself into. Thanks! Your vids are great!
You mentioned a infotainment update. How can you know if that's already been done on a used car? Is there a code to look for ? Great videos, I've got the exact same car here in Edmonton Canada.
@@skrrtgarage3922 Sorry Conner. I was referring to the audio software patch you talked about at the 8:00 mark. How would I know if it's been done already?
They honestly drive very similar if you drive them in isolation, you really only notice a difference if you drive them back to back. I want RWD because it’s lighter, better steering and a little bit more a hooligan.
@@skrrtgarage3922 yeah I’ve been leaning more towards the rwd too as I’ve done more research but that launch ability is sooo tempting. LOL. Ps I live in Tulsa and would love to kick it some time. I’m new to the area so if there’s any dope car meets that are a must would love to check them out
Love this car definitelyal a sophisticated look! Vette is super nice too though. Grand Sport is a great chill touring car for road trips. But throw it in sport or track and it's a monster!
Did you ever come across the message traction control currently unavailable coming on briefly while accelerating hard? Doesn’t come on all the time and only from start off.
Great video. Thanks for doing it. I am on the fence on getting a V8 CPO which looks really nice. Is the mileage for the V8 really as terrible as people say? It's not the cost I am concerned but the overall range. Thanks
Milage as in mpg or high milage cars for sale? The mph is around 20 average and the higher mileage cars will probably require a little bit of maintenance but nothing crazy.
Which particular Lucas Oil additive did you find comparative to the BG 44? I just took delivery of my 2016 R and would like to treat it now to be safe. Only has 11.000 miles but I am sure the older lady that owned it didn't put any addictive in it during her ownership. Thanks.
An other nice video with many "good things to know", I definitely want to see the Polyurethane Sway Bar Bushing installation if you can. How come, Jag don't have this as stock part? Especially if it is that cheap.
N D - I spoke to one of the parts managers with Jag. The bushings can be purchased through Summit Racing or Advanced Auto separately, OEM fit w/ stiffer feel. I put them on my 2013 XF-SC for AutoCross. I love 'em!!
thank you for making this video I am so close to buy the f type i have 7k and many month away to go I'm just scared maintenance of me doing by my self the oil change how much cost for somebody doit for me
Just picked up a 2018 Audi R8 V10 Plus...so I feel we might be better matched now instead of the SQ8. So if you see a daytona gray pearl R8, it's also me. Give it some gas.
Congrats Philip, that’s such a killer car! If you up to it, we should get our cars together for a video! That v10 might be one of few cars that sounds better than the f type lol
Yea the car is completely tame and safe so long as traction control stays on. Also the OEM perreli tires on this car have zero grip, to make the car feel even safer/more grippy get some Michelin pilot 4s tires. Makes a huge difference
You don't need maintenance throttle with a supercharger, its connected to the crankshaft. Your car weighes 3600 lbs. I agree that at 4500 RPM you can injure a passenger if you dont tell them you are going to floor it. It slams your head violently. Amazing, brutal acceleration mid-range. The reason is the big torque hump the dyno reveals. Having that much torque at 4500 RPM equates to ~1000 peak HP. Sadly, the torque hump falls off to "only" produce around 695 HP at peak. But the truth is, who cares about the peak number? What matters is torque/power along the RPM band on the way to peak. A torque hump is way faster than a rising slope.
Maintenance throttle is how you hold it in the torque range. Owners on Jaguarforums.com went out to weigh their cars and none of the v8’s were in the 3600’s. Only car even close to that was a manual transmission v6 car without the driver and an empty tank at 3689 pounds.
@@skrrtgarage3922 Thats just dry vs wet. For example GM says the C8 weighs 3366 lbs. Scales say 3647. In the end, using the manufacture weight or actual weight only means something if you use the same spec for both.
Another great F-Type trait, which is weight related: the car is the only true convertible on the market today. Every other convertible is a conversion. The benefit is that the F convertibles weigh less than the coupes. My BMW convertible, as a comparison, weighes 300+ lbs more than the coupe version.
I too use my F Type R nearly every day. 100%, it’s wild how those little touches go such a long way.
I’ll have to look into it, thanks!
Great vid. Considering getting a 17 Jag F Type R. What black wheels do you recommend? The one i want has alloy wheels.
Wheels are tough to find for the f type, they are 5x108 and hardly anyone else uses 5x108.. so you’ll most likely have to get custom drilled ones from a higher end brand
Love the video love the car looking forward to stage two for my 2014 f type
right on!
Per the supercharger upgrade...what are you thoughts about the car's long-term reliability with all that extra power going to the transmission, rear diff etc?
Many Thanks, Peace From London. 🙏🙏
Sounds like a future collectible to me
Completely agree 🙏🏼🔥
Well done very informative worthwhile!
Another great video, loving your work 👍🏼
Thanks James! Appreciate it brother
Starting to miss my F . Great review !
You’re always welcome back!
Any issues/experiences with the known supercharger coupler/isolator? I'm considering purchasing an F type , but it's an early first year 2014MY. Just trying to get an idea on what I'm getting myself into. Thanks! Your vids are great!
I haven’t had any issues yet with this, it is fairly common with higher milage cars though. The repair itself doesn’t look bad though
SKRRRRRRT Love the Vids! Just bought a V6 manual. What percentage window tint do you have on yours? Did you tint the back and roof as well? Thanks!
Thanks 🙏🏼. I didn’t tint the top but I believe the sides are 15%
I love the ftype but my husband has been a bit worried. Your video put his mind at ease. I see a cat in my future. THANKS
Right on! Good luck, hopefully he agrees 🙏🏼
Does it mean that if he can get a F type that you will get a feline friend? 2 wins there :)
@@meejmuas8686 I am the one getting the F type next year. No cats, he is very allergic.
I finally got mine!
You mentioned a infotainment update. How can you know if that's already been done on a used car?
Is there a code to look for ?
Great videos,
I've got the exact same car here in Edmonton Canada.
What I was talking about was the newer models of the car have a larger and better infotainment. Not necessarily a software thing
@@skrrtgarage3922 Sorry Conner.
I was referring to the audio software patch you talked about at the 8:00 mark.
How would I know if it's been done already?
Oh I’m unaware how to see if that’s been done or not. You can call a deal ship and ask though
@@skrrtgarage3922 thanks.
I appreciate the time you take to produce the videos.
Super awesome video thanks a lot! Right now I’m in the market for one these I just can’t decide between awd and rwd. Any tips?
They honestly drive very similar if you drive them in isolation, you really only notice a difference if you drive them back to back. I want RWD because it’s lighter, better steering and a little bit more a hooligan.
@@skrrtgarage3922 yeah I’ve been leaning more towards the rwd too as I’ve done more research but that launch ability is sooo tempting. LOL. Ps I live in Tulsa and would love to kick it some time. I’m new to the area so if there’s any dope car meets that are a must would love to check them out
Hey guy, great review thinking of getting a 2019 w/ all those mods👍
Right on!
Love the Jag, you still got the Black Series???
Yes! Videos to come on that!
I am currently looking at getting a 2016 F-Type S Coupe. Any tips on things to watch out for or maintenance to do shortly after purchase?
I have two videos devoted to that!
I drove from texas to Florida and back, and I averaged around 27.5mpg. 2015 Rs are amazing.
Insane! Hell of a car
Thanks.
Congrats Steve! It’s simply called Lucas oil Injector cleaner. You can pick it up in almost any parts store for like $4-5
Do you drive your car in the winter time (snow) is it possible if it is all wheel drive?
For a everyday car?
Yea I think that’s totally possible, the car has a snow/ice mode that makes it very subtle
Cool motor bud well done 🤙
Appreciate it!
Just got the 2015 F type R. Tuned it at Gintani. Which Downpipe should I buy? And or install?
Velocityap makes a great 200 cell option
Liking even before watching the vid
Thanks bro! 🙌🏼
Hi
Can you help me finding the 15mm wheels adapter brand that you have used ?
Yea I made a video about wheel spacers, the brand and size is listed in that video
Curious how much it is to insure these. I have 3 cars and an RV on our plan right now.
Use the tap tap on acceleration pedal above 3k rpm
The straight pipe video
What model of your car 2016? How many miles when did you buy it?
I had a 2015, it had 29k miles
Hello,
I have a 2014 Range Rover Sport SC. Can you tell me if the pully and ecu tunning was worth it from Velocity AP.? Thank you
An other nice video with many "good things to know", I definitely want to see the Polyurethane Sway Bar Bushing installation if you can. How come, Jag don't have this as stock part? Especially if it is that cheap.
I’ll try to make a video for it, the lighting won’t be ideal though
@@skrrtgarage3922 no worries for the lighting. Thanks man!
N D - I spoke to one of the parts managers with Jag. The bushings can be purchased through Summit Racing or Advanced Auto separately, OEM fit w/ stiffer feel. I put them on my 2013 XF-SC for AutoCross. I love 'em!!
@@irish-chokolat7665 so, jag service can install it?
@@thef14d Yes. As long as you have the parts and they fit the car, most of them will install it.
Thinking about either this car or a c7 corvette since the corvette is a bit more reliable
Where's your mileage at this point? I think that would add a lot of context to the repairs.
It’s at 40k now
@@skrrtgarage3922 that isn't a terrible maintenance bill for that mileage. It's not like how Jaguar was 15 years ago for sure.
Did u change ur exhaust ? Its sound more louder than stock ?
No I didn’t change it, but I drive around with the parcel shelf not in the car. It makes it sound louder lol
Love the videos. But gotta ask, look like we're around the same age, what's your job ?
Sales job, now dental school
I am looking to buy one but am worried about reliability
Check out my reliability video. It’s honestly within the normal bounds of a car like this
thank you for making this video I am so close to buy the f type i have 7k and many month away to go I'm just scared maintenance of
me doing by my self the oil change how much cost for somebody doit for me
Right on, these cars aren’t too difficult to work on though
Just picked up a 2018 Audi R8 V10 Plus...so I feel we might be better matched now instead of the SQ8. So if you see a daytona gray pearl R8, it's also me. Give it some gas.
Congrats Philip, that’s such a killer car!
If you up to it, we should get our cars together for a video! That v10 might be one of few cars that sounds better than the f type lol
@@skrrtgarage3922 yess! Let’s do it.
@@PhilG380 I just tried to follow you on Facebook lol, hopefully its the right person
Just a word to say i just subsribed. I think you deserve it.
Hey what's up I'm wayne from Orlando FL I want a f type jaguar. What do you think V8 are V6 turbo ?
I LOVE the v8 sound.. so for that reason alone I would recommend the v8
@@skrrtgarage3922 ok cool the v8 it is, thank you for getting back to me !
How have you found it on track being the rwd and not awd?
The RWD version is great, fantastic turn in. Although, it will oversteer if you turn off the traction control..
@@skrrtgarage3922 cheers. So with traction control on around a circuit you can go around corners at speed without the backend coming out all the time?
Yea the car is completely tame and safe so long as traction control stays on. Also the OEM perreli tires on this car have zero grip, to make the car feel even safer/more grippy get some Michelin pilot 4s tires. Makes a huge difference
@@skrrtgarage3922 awesome. Cheers buddy. Really informative videos. Thank you.
How are the aftermarket brake pad working out
Very good! Still less brake dust and good braking capability!

@@skrrtgarage3922
Thats just dry vs wet.
I am curious how the exhaust would sound with the top down
