      That's great to hear! Half of the reason we started the channel is because when we were doing our research we couldn't get enough different data points so we're paying it forward. Let us know if you have any questions you don't have an answer for.

    The sailing videos I enjoy the most are the passage ones spread over a few episodes, one for preparing for the journey with provisioning, repairs and route planning etc.
    Followed by further episodes documenting the journey… doesn’t matter to me if it’s 100 miles or 1000 miles I just feel like these type of videos are the ones I feel make the most connection between viewer and channel.
    Oh and exploring videos are always fun to watch for sure.
    Keep making great videos x

      Thanks for the feedback! We are looking towards our first longer passage in a while as we leave the Bahamas in early summer and ideally head up to the Chesapeake Bay. That will probably take us 5 to 6 days and will be our longest passage to date. After that we are looking at going from the Chesapeake Bay to Puerto Rico which would double that. So it's definitely in the cards 😀

    I would be totally freaking out (stressed, not excited!) if I was in your shoes but I'm so excited for you guys! It will be awesome to be able to sail, explore, and experience new things without having to work around an office schedule. And the corporate world will always be there to go back to if you want.
    Also, that grotto looked incredible and I don't care if the pigs are touristy, that would be so fun and definitely worthy of the Bahamas bucket list!

    Wish you guys the utmost success. We lost our jobs as well right before 2020, it was a bit earlier "3 Yeas" than we planned. Wanting to sail the world, we set a budget before starting our adventure. Three years later we are still on track for our dream with our last child about to leave the nest. Our job was a crutch, we realized we could accomplish so much more.

      That's amazing and great to hear! We are hoping for the same kind of experience. It's funny though, one of my former colleagues loved to say "hope is not a strategy" so every time I use the word "hope" that runs through my head. So we have a strategy, not it's time to execute. And a fall back plan of just going back to the corporate world. A "break glass in case of emergency" option 😀

    One of the things I love about this channel is the 'boring day to day' steps that y'all show, really brings us viewers on board. How to lower the dinghy, how to daily check the engines, stuff like that. Keep it up and enjoy the next 100 days in the Bahamas, of all places! (it could ALWAYS be worse, right?)

    • @FolsomOceanViews
      @FolsomOceanViews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! It's always a tough balance between the "fun and exciting" that typically draws in new viewers and the "real experience" that a lot of current viewers are looking for. The good news is that we really don't know how to do anything other than be ourselves, so when we're doing something interesting, we will film it. And when we're not, we'll film that too 😀

    I think I am one of the earliest viewers and I have enjoyed all of your phases. This one has to be a lot scarier than you let on, but you seem like hard workers and you certainly have the "it" to be successful. I only watch 4 or 5 sailing shows and you are one of them. You two will be fine and I joined to help out a little. Perhaps that will juice the old algorithms or something. Best wishes to you both. (rented a cat and going out for 10 days this month partially due to your channel!)

      You definitely are one of the earliest viewers and we can't thank you enough! Hopefully the "it" factors is Jes' creativity and my business acumen. I have heard from a lot of people that a lot of people have one or the other, but the successful channels have both. 🤣 There isn't too much tea. There was a restructuring that didn't make sense for me to be a part of. I'm still close with all of my former colleagues and wish everyone the best, but it wasn't the right situation for me anymore. And you know - spending 3 months as full time cruisers in the Bahamas is the best possible way to know if we want to figure out how to keep that lifestyle or if I'll go back into the corporate world, it's really a great situation all around.

    • @FolsomOceanViews
      @FolsomOceanViews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely thinking of crossing oceans but we aren't ready to cross from the US to Europe right now, nor is Leviosa. We feel confident in our abilities to sail her anywhere from about 80 degrees apparent to 180, but any closer to wind and we still struggle. So the short-ish term plan is Bahamas through June, US East Coast for hurricane season to get her hauled out and few things done, and then potentially straight from the Chesapeake Bay to Puerto Rico in November. But as with everything, plans are subject to change 🤣

    • @kirkb3473
      @kirkb3473 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FolsomOceanViews Just curious if you could explain why you are not confident in your (or your boat's) ability to sail any closer than 80 apparent? Are your sails a little tired and need replacing or do you just slow down so much it is easier to manage. We spent a month tooling around on a Leopard 40 and seemed to do okay pointing around 45...not a speed demon by any stretch though lol.
