    ..... this is what makes it all worth it ..... had to chuckle about the six pack piolet ..... some of those fish around the plane, their colors were brilliant .... Jess when you were showing us up the mast and the radar I was waiting for you to say that you need to be up there to spot the coral heads. It sure would be a good vantage point .... thx for the share .... as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....

    Gotta tell you guys. That 40' Leopard of yours scoot right along 👨‍⚕️‼️👏🏻👍🏻 As a 3 time monohuller salter (cat is the next one), in light winds it was better to have flatter sails when going to windward or even a closer reach. Move the Nadal traveler forward to bring the clue down and a Cunningham or downhaul for the main and sheets in tight. Makes the "monohull" go faster.same thing in real heavy wind. It takes a lot of the roach out of the sails. Again, not sure on a cat. Give it a try and see what happens. ✨ ✌️ ✨ 🌊💨⛵️🏝👙🌞✨

    Jes & Charles: Love your videos! I noticed an artifact (on your lens?) last video, and it's still there in many shots this week. Dead pixels on the CCD? Not a big deal at all, just in case you have not seen it.

      I think it is just dirty?! But I KNOW it happened once before (fishing video) and it was aweful. I need to take it apart and see what is going on. Tahnks for the mention, fingers crossed that it's something we can clean up 🤞

    WOW another great video. I was so happy that everything came together for you on this sail and hope that for the rest of your journey. Given the name of your vessel Harry Potter quotes seem to be in order, and always wonderful. I am not sure you are ready to cut your first album, but its's all good. I am so happy for you guys as you really are dialed in this year for sure, and ready to really enjoy. Enjoy and be safe and we will see you in a while for sure.

    Kinda messed me up with that Corona at the end. Made me want one but it's Sunday evening, can't risk 1 turning into 12. Thanks for the info on the plane. Interesting and exciting history laying in the water there. I could't spot any leftover kilos from your video footage. Really glad the sailing is going well for y'all. Looking forward to seeing y'all every week here on youtube. God bless and safe travels. Carlos and Mandy

    Been following you guys for a while and now have a Leopard 42 on order. What do you think about a bow sprit or not? 7k add with no sail. I could ask a million other questions but I appreciate any advise! Love your videos :)

    • @FolsomOceanViews
      @FolsomOceanViews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A bow sprit was one of our “must haves” that we ended up doing without. Would we like to have one? Absolutely. Is it really a requirement? Not really, but a downwind sail absolutely is. Leviosa really shines with the main and Genoa between 90 and 120 apparent, but deeper than that and the main starts to blanket the Genoa. So that’s where the Oxley (very similar to a Parasailor) comes in. The biggest benefit we would see out of a bow sprit is that we could do a screecher or Code 0 on the sprit and it’d be a whole lot easier to deploy than our spinnaker. But our kind of sailing tends to be “point the boat in one direction for a really long time” so it’s not that big of an issue for us. But, as always, it’s really up to how you plan to use the boat. So… clear as mud, right? 🤣

    • @Boody523
      @Boody523 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FolsomOceanViews thank you! That really helps. We will probably just do the bow sprit then, your oxley sail looks awesome tho, something we will get down the road

    I don't understand why you guys have such an expensive sailing vessel, yet you have cheap sunglasses. You need to buy several pairs of Costas, Maui Jim's or Smith polarized sunglasses, using amber or mono chromatic for shallower low light conditions (to see the bombies) and grey w/blue mirror for open blue water in very bright conditions for possible floating debris and logs. Plus with either of these, you can see every detail of the bottom. They are a game changer, plus well spent insurance.

    • @FolsomOceanViews
      @FolsomOceanViews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have owned plenty of pairs of MauiJim’s and RayBans in our life, and I have to say I don’t miss the price tag at all. Our Rheos sunglasses are tailor made for our Nautical lifestyle. Not only do they offer 100% UV protection with polarized lenses, but they have a huge range of VLT: Amber, Thermal, Emerald, Marine, Rose, & Gunmetal. I have zero issue seeing what’s out there in these glasses and they have the added benefit of FLOATING! So when they fall off as I am paddle boarding or working the lines, I can just go right back and get them. Plus. Rheos is a small business that likes to give back to the environment. There is simply no other eyewear that gets my money at this point. More on the company here 👉 bit.ly/37e9e85
