Good job on this comparison. I went with the m1 versus the m2. The $200 difference, the slower SSD, and the additional heat from the m2 was part of my decision.

I'll say that people should go for M1 16gb of ram instead of the M2. It's a better purchase: faster ssd and more RAM than the base M2 Air at around the same price.

When I went to university, I used the 2012 MacBook pro with i7 processor. I upgraded the RAM and SSD and used it the entire time I was in university. Now I have the m1 air and m1 Mac mini base models and they blow it out of the water

You lost me as soon as you said the M2's speakers are better than the M1's lol. The soundstage & stereo separation isn't even close, its really noticeable. The M1 speakers are way way better, to my ears. There's too big a difference in the speaker setups between the 2, physics is physics I guess ;)

Did you upgrade your m1 macbook air from 8-16gb ram, 256 to 512gb ssd?
My specs are M1 chip with 8 Core CPU and 7 Core GPU, 16 GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD Storage. I thought it would be wise to get more RAM since it's not user upgradable and I'm going to be using this thing for a long time :)

Yeah the chip gets hot but it doesn't need to throttle as much as M1 did.

Great video. I personally prefer the body of the M1 Air. I like the tapered design because it makes it much more comfortable to type on.
