    Definitely the one with the chrome! Looks great with that color. And to everyone saying “oH, tHe oTheR oNe lOokS sPoRtiEr” - Um, hello, it’s a 2.7 ton SUV, not a sports car, it’s massive and the idea behind it is to be luxurious and practical, seeing carbon fibre and black trim on an SUV is just hilarious to me. Some people really have no taste, they’ll put off-road tires on a formula 1… Also LOVE how they’re making vegan options for so many cars now! The close ups of the steering wheel and the interior in general are great, you can actually check out the car, great review as always, keep it up!!!

    Awesome machine, excellent efficient and velvety smooth engines and top-notch comfort. The only obvious things for me to improve upon are utility and a flatter cargo area with the seats down for those times you need max cargo space. The captain's chairs don't even fold at all which is a miss. Utility wise, there's not a lot of space in the front row for storage of keys, personal small items anything beyond the cup holders and phone charging. Maybe make use of the dash like Land Rover Defender or Ram 1500 and offer a tray area or second storage glove box built into the upper dash on the passenger side. All around though it's a superb family hauler.

    The In-line 6 is such a good engine…honestly they could easily tune that engine to output 500hp easily but they decided against it because then the power difference would be minimal between the v8 and inline 6 engine. I agree with you with everything in this review. I currently drive a 2022 X3M and the online 6 is the best engine bmw developed! Before this car I had a 2020 bmw m340ix which had the B58 engine and it was just fantastic! If you want to cover all the check boxes then v8 is for those buyers that just want everything, but the online 6 is probably going to be the most popular option. The performance is not that much different but you gain way much more when it comes to fuel economy with the 6 vs the 8.

    Seriously dislike what BMW has done with iDrive 8. Took delivery of our family's X3 LCI few months ago, I feel like iDrive 7 with the tactile climate control is the sweet spot. The climate menu at 10:30 is just a complete utter mess to look at to a point that is danagerous to use on the motorway. I do 160km (100mile) per week day for work, I adjust the climate control all the time, I can easily feel the tactile/rotary knob clicks of previous gen BMW iDrive systems without having to take my eyes off the road for a single second.

    • @ianwilson2968
      @ianwilson2968 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never used iDrive, only Audi MMI, but if the car has automatic climate control why do you need to adjust the climate control all the time? Ours is set to 22 degrees and left there all year round, occasionally changed to 21 if it gets up to 40 degrees outside.

      @@TheWarlord228Interesting. Never had that problem with the Audi, BMW or Nissan vehicles we have / have had. Yes, the fan speed is high initially to get the temperature down, then it reduces to maintain the temp. When it’s very warm, we also use the recirculate function to start off with to cool the interior as quickly as possible so the AC is only having to cool already cooled air rather than the oven like air outside.

    What I know is that if it's not meant for you,then there's no reason at all for you to worry about it. Every car out there has it's own designated buyers. A Lamborghini and a Porsche are one of the best cars(in terms of the hype around them) out there but not everyone likes them. Many people had a problem with the M3 and M4s grill but there were many sales than the negative comments they received. All that said I'd buy this car without any worries and any hesitation coz the engineering behind it is on another level.

    Is there an SUV on the market that has the length and flat folding floor in the back to compete with a large wagon?
    I always get the feeling SUVs destroy the space available to them. I miss the R-Class, imagine that one on slightly more modern wheels and ride height, with a modern drive train and interior...

    • @baronvonjo1929
      @baronvonjo1929 ปีที่แล้ว

      Body on frame SUVs typically offer flat floors compared to crossovers like this. I get what you, a mean flat cargo bed is amazing. You can sleep on it or have dogs there.
      If you want something like the R Class lots of folks compare some new Mercedes EV Crossover with the R Class cause it looks so much like a MPV compared to a crossover. I think.

      Absolutely. OS8 is the worst thing they did ever. I’m thinking to keep my lease os7. I had a big argument with the BMW „genius“ who was about 23 years old and wanted to tell me a loyal customer since 1980 that I’m wrong. I confronted him with the downsides and he got the point but didn’t let it count. He was always like why do you need favourite keys and why this and that you can touch and speak blah. I opened the menu and told him I left windows 98 behind. Of course he had no clue again what I’m talking about. It’s senseless. At next the put android for OS. That’s the moment I quit

    I hate to ask another question, but if you or anyone at BMW could shed some light on this debate on the BMW forums would be great. Here it goes: “The specific question should have been, what is the SP that the 2023 X7 is getting now, and what service pack will the 7-series be getting at production (which, again, will be the same that the X7 2023 4/2023 and after will be getting).”

    Real axle steering and anti-roll bars are not an option for the 40i. I confirmed with the BMW dealership and options not available on the website. Given this, how would your comparison of the 40i vs. M60 change?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow, I just re-checked myself and it seems to have disappeared indeed from 40i options both in US and Germany I checked. I gonna ask BMW. Hm well, the M60 is still so much more expensive, question is if you wanna spend that extra money on it. If money doesnt play a role and you dont mind the extra higher consumption, well, the rear-axle steering is helpful for sure (you dont need it that much on US roads though unless you live in New England / "narrow states"). Get the new Sensafin seats as shown they re awesome

    Very timely and thorough review, great comparison between the V8 and inline 6 versions. Also useful comments about the differences between Mercedes S-class comfort (also Range Rover) versus the more sporty blend from BMW 7-series and Audi A8.This applies to both SUV and sedan offerings, as you point out. I love my current MB S550, V8 plus extreme ride/noise comfort, but am looking elsewhere for next vehicle because I dislike the piano black capacitive controls in new S-class MB vehicles and now too gaudy and screen-heavy interiors plus new exteriors only so-so, not an improvement. Rear view so plain it is almost unattractive. And now price is much higher for similar equipment levels - my well-equipped S550 was $116K and would now cost $15-20K more. I am looking forward to your review of the 2023 BMW 7-series sedans!

    Can I be Honest Thomas please? Look I look to you for reviews because you are German born ( Autobahn its about the autobahn lol) and have a slightly more critical eye ON German cars. You have a slightly higher critique for cars that are from Germany originally. I LOVE German cars so i look to your reviews because I know not ONLY do you do a great job over all but also do a more critical review for the cars I have come to love over the years! Every person has their preference and mine is YOU. The best part? I get to learn a little German too. Its always a win win with you. Thank you so much for your service! Love from South Africa.

    I don’t know why BMW is changing so often the rear placement of the badges on the X models. Started on the front doors, then inferior section of the trunk and now on the upper part.
    The X7 is definitely for the US market. In Europe even an X5 is already a nightmare to park or use in city. Despite that it’s an amazing SAV.
