    The block drilling and tapping process brings back some good memories of FWD SR stuff from back in the day. T28 Gti-R turbo setups on those things are so fun.

      I remember drilling a fwd block, and being about 1 degree of angle away from almost destroying the mating surface for the upper oil pan. Great times and really fun engines to boost.

      I cant count howany fwd Sr I have done this exact swap to do much fun and I had my last one hold up for 4 years running 12psi with a gt2876. So much fun.

    When tapping I like to go a quarter turn back every rotation or two to break up the chips and lighten the load on the tap. Helps a lot with small fragile taps

    Take a shop vac with two hoses, outlet hose on the oil fill (pressure) and vac side pulling chips while drilling.

    If you cut a little slice up a bolt just to the side if centre line it will make a little tap or thead chaser.. will work as a tap on softer materials than the bolt.

    Hey Jimmy a little thing when you are cutting the treads in the engine go one full rotation and then you ho halfway back then you will break the shavings and then go forward again that makes a better cut👌😊

    If you fill the coolant system and use a pressure tester on it, it will use the pressure of coolant/water to push it all chips so no grease needed. Just for next time.

    Love this stuff hahaha I had to re-tap my spark plug hole after a friend crosstreaded that shit. Dipped a tap in grease and sent it through. Luckily chased the original thread and all was well. I mean so far...its been like 2 years

    FWIW, having the vacuum reference on the compressor housing isn't always ideal, depending on the intercooler setup. The pressure differential across the core can affect the observed map signal relative to that measured at the compressor, which can cause inconsistent boost response. Having the gate read post-cooler ensures the reference for the gate is the same as what the engine will see.
    All that being said, it probably don't matter. lol. Keep it up dudes.

    just a heads up next time get the chip lifting taps wich are used for blind holes in macining industry it just lifts the chips up from the hole and if u use the grease it will be much safer even if you have thru holes
    edit they are called spiral fluted taps in english

    When drilling and taping in an completed installation: use grease and a vacuum cleaner. The material will stick on the grease or be vacuumed away. Not!!! an guarantee that no parts can get in the engine but the bulk will.

    Jimmy put a shop vac on the blowing side and tape it to the oil filler cap opening! lightly pressurize the cases and it will blow the chunks right out by the bit! i've done it on multiple engines, BMW engines but engines the same
