My only concern with these stripped down versions is that I’m afraid I’m going to run into a situation where some app or game would have some weird obscure problem because it relied on something that had been stripped out. And because the vast minority of people use these lightweight installations chances are the problem is never going to turn up on google searches so you’re completely on your own on troubleshooting it.

I’ve been using Ghostspectre windows 10 and 11 for more then 2 years now. With the compact version, I didn’t run into any compatibility issues. No Cortana/Defender is a big plus for me and I get 5-8 fps more in every game. Battery life on laptops is also better because it runs less processes in the background.
I’ve been monitoring outgoing internet connections and haven’t really found anything suspicious yet.

The bad thing about that is Windows Defender is actually a pretty damn good anti-virus software. I don't know if this channel speaks against it just because it comes from Windows or what but most security minded people I've seen speak about it just say good things about it mostly.
Also, most gaming laptops are... not the "best" way to game on PC, temps are always an issue with 95% of gaming laptops. Keyboards suck ass, I could go on.

For a channel names "The Security Channel," I am surprised that you didn't do any basic security analysis of these ISO's. For example, scanning the files before and after installation with a couple of anti-virus products, monitoring network traffic for calls or beacons out to malicious or unrecognized sites, doing an analysis of the running processes.
One immediate concern is that the project owners don't publish a hash to determine if the files downloaded are authentic. Even if I trust the TechLatest, I might not trust that the download links haven't been hijacked by malicious actors.
I would do all these things myself before using these CD's on a real network. But many others who watch your channel won't have the knowledge or skills to do so. This would have turned an interesting video into a truly useful one.

"One immediate concern is that the project owners don't publish a hash to determine if the files downloaded are authentic." - I don't trust these ISOs for a second. The lack of hashes might even be intentional to provide them with plausible deniability if malware is found. It also doesn't have to be something that introduces a detectable common malware, it can be a subtle configuration error such as a key which wasn't regenerated or randomized on install. It's hard to understand why a group would put so much work into such a polished image for no personal benefit and significant risk. Who are these guys?

I just wrote a similar comment before I saw yours. I fully agree. This almost seems some sort of advertisement. Why the hell would anyone in this audience with some working brain cells left, be interested in someone else's custom Windows ISO?
Would this be a great segway into building your own ISO to circumvent these issues that we outlined?
Wouldn't it be great if this "Ghost Spectre" group would publish how they managed to build their version of Windows? Maybe with instructions how to do it yourself? I don't trust it one bit, and I would do as you stated in your comment and really, really keep a close eye on your firewall/event/IDS logs to see what's going on, *if* you do end up using it.

I've always tried removing telemetry and debloating Windows the best I could with tools like ThisIsWin11 and other tweaks, but never went so far as to install modified ISOs. I think the lowest CPU process count I got was 114, so to see only 92 in this is very impressive, and Edge being purged too given it always lingered. I'm currently trying out Linux and liking it a lot, but if it doesn't work out I may consider something like this (or maybe in a virtual machine).

I have been using his iso's for quite a while now and I'm happy with the result, since windows 10 1709 to now windows 11 22h2 his versions of windows always worked for me since I was looking for something that didn't had the telemetry and bloadware the normal windows has for a bit more privacy, I tried creating my own debloated ISO but since I don't know much in depth about it like he is with the toolbox he made and the scripts I can only follow a tutorial, I also tried other versions of "lite" windows ISO but they either don't have windows update option anymore since I know that is a way for Microsoft to spy on their users and it's a good thing it's disabled to the sfc / scannow comand for corrupted files being disabled as well and I will download updates manually and install them, no way I got time for that and so ghost windows iso's were the best combo for me, I had the benefit of the update working even tho I know it's a privacy concern and the sfc comand works as well, the toolbox is helpful for installing brave, visual c++ installers and directx, the sound mod is cool somewhat and use nvcleaninstall to make an Nvidia driver without the telemetry also and just works for me, this doesn't mean that anyone should trust him more for his custom iso's or that they're the best but I'm just saying that if ur like me and I don't want to take everything apart piece by piece and choose what u like then put it back together it's a pretty good one to use day to day like I do, its my point of view using his work for some years and being pleased with it, so as for right now I trust his iso's and I would always choose them over original Microsoft iso's.

if we knew for a fact it was safe and it would keep getting security updates then this would clearly be a superior version in every way.
sadly it being a custom OS built by randoms, you just can't ever be sure you won't one day be screwed for using it due to some hidden code or missed security update that ended up making your system very vulnerable to major exploits, it's just too scary to use as your main OS for anything important.
Though, I guess it can be amazing if you use it on a machine you never intend to connect to the internet and only transfer singeplayer games to it? but that's such a niche concept, who would waste time doing that? I have been using it for months and the issue about editing the host file I can't say anything because I don't mess with it but, your second point is wrong, because the account you create when you install the OS is an administrator account, so obviously you don't need "run as administrator" on an administrator account, that basic logic. And issues with USB ports or not reading HDDs look more like a hardware thing but I haven't encountered that issue in any of my computers or any other computer where I installed GhostSpectre version of Windows.

Yep. "Only uses 1.1GB" is utterly nuts. It's a bloody operating system, it should provide the operating functionality and the shared resources for applications. This shouldn't require using a vast amount of RAM for no evident purposes whatsoever - I can't even think of what OS processes would or should ever total up to 1GB of RAM. The closest I have come to justifying this is if the RAM usage includes the display frame buffers but a 1920x1080 32 bit (8 bit RGB + 8 bits wasted for efficiency) full screen buffer is 8MB. Even double buffering various OS applications that seem to be essential at full screen is only going to add up to a couple of hundred MB at most. Which still leaves 900MB utterly inexplicably used RAM.

Will you test it to know if it is as safe as the unchanged one with windows defender and others?

What about a debloating-"detelemetring" tool that is open sourced and you can see the scripting behind it? Does it exist?

The only concern I have with this, is kernel level anti cheats in games. But other than that, it looks great.

You have 100s and 100s of kernel level software. Kernel level isn't an issue.

Hey I have tried Christ titus's script and it might do most of what this iso does while showing you what it does in PowerShell. Maybe something to check

I tried Chris Titus script and it works great. It cut the running processes from 120 down to 65. My computer is much faster now.

you know what else doesn't have bloatware or telemetry, its linux.
and you don't even need to mess around with it to make it so, it just works.
plus since windows is proprietary software you can NEVER be sure that its rid of spyware.

Sofia script can do a lot of tweaking to make a normal superbloated version of Windows into a "lite" version with dozens of unwanted features turned off.
But this one is truly super light.
