    In most states if your car is under warranty and they don’t fix it in 3 attempts you can get a free lawyer under moss magnusun (sp?) breach of warranty claim. You should be able to get at least $4k and it’s completely free if you win or lose (the law mandates the manufacturer pays your lawyer). I did this for a car I owned, dealership gave me the run around also.

      You could still get a consultation, even if you fix it they owe you. It’s worth a shot. I’m not a lawyer or affiliated with any firms, just hate when companies screw their customers.

    Same things happened to me. I have 2012 X5 diesel. Got that check engine light with exhaust system codes. Been to a BMW dealer, they were clearing codes, I get my car back. drive 2 days and light comes back on, I go back to the dealer, they clear codes again, replace CO2 sensor, light comes back next day, I go back- they do the same thing. It continued up until my warranty expired (by 20 miles) and they say, well we need to change EGR and parts of exhaust system but you have to pay for it now 😡. Tried to reason with them that I came way before warranty ended, but they claimed it was a different problem... So, frustrated. Even tried to call BMW, got no response.. Drove for a while went to a local shop who showed bunch of exhaust system failure codes and said its cheaper to buy a new car than fix this one. I did not expected it from BMW... Thanks for a great video!

    The EPA will not do anything. I called them about my X5 35d and they said that manufacturers should design the emissions so they are good for at least 120 000 miles, but they have no way of enforcement. Basically they said BMW should do the work but only if they want to. EPA is powerless in this matter. So even if they see this video, nothing will happen.

    Did you do a DPF regeneration followed by a reset of the values (you will need a good quality 2 way communication scanner for this, Launch/Autel/SnapOn etc)? Have you checked the values of the diff pressure sensor for the DPF on the scanner? An efficiency code is generally picked up by the pressure differential across the DPF being outside programmed limits. A faulty sensor could also cause this.

    Removing it and deleting DPF puts you at risk for $25000 EPA fines !!!
    The reason the dealer won't replace the DPF under warranty is that your vehicle was most likely burning oil or coolant which will clog a new DPF in a short time. The engine damage that creates coolant and small oil leaks is related to not doing regular EGR/mass airflow sensor and intake system cleaning. The mass air sensor gets clogged with soot from dirty exhaust and when mass air sensor gets covered it reads incorrect and causes EGR valve to operate erratically or stay open or closed , if it stays in one position too longit will get built up with soot and carbon and get stuck in that position. If it stays open well engine is put under load it will overheat the EGR cooler ,the head, the turbo etc . And overheated had may cause head gasket leaks an overheated turbo may cause oil leaks into the combustion which will then clog the DPF filter

      @riddjo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@L8R-HPI don't disagree with you at all for deleting the system. I was just saying if they come looking it can be crazy fines !!!
      They won't know on yours by looking at it but if they pull out the temperature gun and check the components they will know.
      The unreliability of these systems is the same in the trucking industry ninety percent of the problems are DPF EGR mass air sensor NOx sensor problems and def dosing or pump problems.
      Overall it doesn't look like emission systems create environmental efficiency. Every heavy vehicle that has an emission system is using 2 to 4 miles per gallon more fuel because of the restriction it creates in the exhaust and it causes engine breakdown prematurely due to heat and carbon build up inside the motor & valve train.
      Older truck diesel engines used to run for up to 2 million miles before a rebuild was necessary. Today's truck motors cannot make it past 600,000 MIles without huge failures and massive amounts of money spent on emissions repairs.

If after that not getting full 100% state of charge (which is normal) and only getting 40 or 50% in range compared to new after 3/4 of a million miles bothers you then you can replay the pack (by that time the cost to replace will be much much cheaper.
