Have a beer on me as your vids helped me clean my DPF and diagnose the cause (Glow plug controller and EGR valve). That Lanch UK stuff does what it says on the tin. Hope your vids help generate work for you and not loads of calls from people wanting you to fix their cars for free.
I just had mine cleaned on an x5. Had to remove the DPF out, soaked in soap for couple hours, agitated several times. Then, I cleaned it with oxalic acid, which I didn't think it had any effect. In fact, I thought it might've blocked the filter a little. In any case, it was thoroughly washed, and reinstalled. The code went away...
BMW specific question. Do you know if not resetting the service clock for the oil change interval can cause the car to stop regenerating? My F30 320d out of nowhere (as in no previous fault codes) started registering high DPF pressure. Had a look the very same day and it hadn’t done a regen in 6000km. Managed to clean the dpf and it’s happily regenerating itself as it should now. Never could work out why it stopped regenerating in the first place though….. Your videos proved invaluable in cleaning out the DPF. Thanks 🙏
Resetting the oil service interval clock on a bmw has got nothing to do with dpf regeneration. Everytime you change the oil you should reset the clock to tell the ecu it has new oil. The reason your diesel bmw has failed to do a regen for some time is because it has become blocked. Diesels are not designed for short journey driving. That type of driving will alway case them to block. Try to drive it one a week on the motorway for about 50km to do a regen naturally. You can add a regen additative to the fuel tank every 6 months. This will reduce the regen temperature and help to keep the car running properly.
'Once faults 480A / 245700 (from F01) and 481A / 245800 (from F01) have been saved, drive the vehicle for about 45 minutes at a constant speed. In addition, switch on electrical consumers to keep the exhaust-gas temperature between 280-350°C. That enables continuous regeneration to take place, the exhaust backpressure drops, the faults are remedied and the following status message is issued: "currently not present". Now, normal regeneration takes place automatically. '
BMW is doing a DPF regeneration for me right now. They say they will not use this fluid. Any comment? I'm in the US, less x5d over here than in EMEA so hard to find shops that are diesel experts. 80,000 miles on the x5, 2015 model year.
Hello I have the same problem on a 118D e87 with Errors 480A and 447B , do you think I need to change the oxygen sensor first? or this faults codes are because the dpf is blocked? thank you
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge:-)) Your videos are fantastic informative and tuturial. You sharing has made my days much better. Keep on with the good work:-))
Australian viewer, excellent video. My wife's x5 gets up to operating temp and conks out, puts itself into neutral. Got to pull off road. Spent $2000 dollaredoos at two different mechanics , still doing it????. Their advice is put it on a truck (550 kilometers) to nearest BMW dealer. (Australian mechanics are all terrified of European cars 😂) Could we be suffering from a blocked DPF ? Really appreciate any suggestions. 👍🏼🌏🇦🇺
hey mate, not sure if you're gonna see this comment. I have a bmw x6 diesel, been going through the fucking works with the DPF system. It had a forced regen done, got down to around 10mb, ive replaced the siezed EGR valve, ive replaced a pressure sensor the car read a fault for (forgot which one), and replaced all 6 glow plugs along with the control module and had the mechanic attempt another regen today. its now got the 480a fault code in it now but the DPF light is no longer showing. anything you can suggest I do in order to ensure the car's going toregen like normal? the mechanics today cleaned out the dpf and there are no codes on the car now aside from the 480a thats just appeared, but before there were glow plug faults. im suspecting its a sensor failure on the dpf but ive done everything else I can think of aside from replacing the whole DPF.
Your dpf is still slightly blocked. Don't do any more forced regents. You need to buy a Dpf cleaning spray and pray it into the Dpf and run the engine. This will unblock the filter. Once this is done you may delete the code. Alternatively you may remove the Dpf and clean it yourself or get it professionally cleaned, much bigger harder job to do. Try the Dpf spray cleaner first.
found the real problem after replacing so many things that admittedly, needed replacing. both thermo's on the car, the EGR thermo and the main thermo were busted so the car only got to around high 60 Celsius temperature. which was stopping the car from doing its own regens. new update on the car though, its been driving fine for a couple months. I took it on a long road trip, and it's come up with a central electronics failure message which caused the speakers to play loud static even when the car was off. causes the head unit to turn off, causes the dash lights and HUD windscreen speedo to flicker etc... no idea wtf is going on now.@@kirwanjohn101
I am sorry to ask so stupid question but in my diagnostic program back pressure start's from 700 mb(for check line) minimum, so how you get 68 ? and why you thing that's hi ?

Use any dpf regen product. Different products are sold in different markets.
Hello which Launch scanner tool is that?
On Bmw after cleaning must start regen, and drive on road. After this confirm regen on scan tool.
No you don’t need too

Is the sensor that you're talking about with 2 fittings that go down to the dpd? If so does it matter which hose to hook up the cleaner to?
yes, one goes to front of dpf, the other to the back. You need to go to the front.
Can this be done on the 535d
What kind of wather i need to mised with ?

Cant find dealer for that liquid in Finland or even europe.
I assumed they would post worldwide?
When I lived in Finland I would buy a lot of stuff from UK eBay and have it shipped. You might want to try to see if that works for this product.
