Since I don't have a DPF, I just invested some money on EGR and Throttle body delete (Throttle bodies on Diesel cars are not strictly necessary like they would on a gasoline powered vehicles), that was a good choice of mine. Been running without EGR and TB, the car runs better than with all those things because of it being more efficient. And also, in the long run the lower fuel consumption gets me back the money I spent on extra burnt gas and extra replacement parts

    • @Dtp2296

No such thing as a throttle body on a diesel. They have anti shudder valves that look like a throttle body but they only close when switching the engine off to prevent runaway and cut the engine off instantly instead of shuddering and shaking for quiet a few seconds

Everybody worrying about MOT time, but the big problem is insurance.
Drill it, gut it, remove it, whatever, and you have made a modification which renders your vehicle illegal for use on the public highway. That immediately invalidates your insurance - even if you tell your insurance company.
You can get a replacement DPF from £200 brand new, and that's a decent one, made in the UK and properly engineered.

I'm an independant tuner. I've heard stories (maybe bs) of DVSA Vehicle Examiners specifically looking for these modifications, and penalising MOT stations for not catching it. It's a tricky one, as if you pass the smoke test and metered test, you should be fine. But it's an automatic fail to tamper with any of the emissions control system(s). It's just a case of if they spot it

George 👍, whatif you just drill a circle the same diameter as the exhaust pipe instead of gutting everithing inside?
I know that in some cases, the empty DPF muffler increses echo and the whistle from turbo (some guys like the sound, but i personnaly don't).
Maybe if you let "something" inside it will absorb some reverberation and it will be more quiet, but i don't know the cons.

Blocked Dpf warning went off after 20 miles of motorway driving and seemed nippier as my Dpf was fully blocked. Only problem now is when take my foot off the revs I can hear the turbo hissing/spooling. Is this normal? Kind of worried myY turbo is about to pop... Reasure me hahha

    • @harrymoon6060
      @harrymoon6060 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another crazy solution, maybe :
If we replace the whole DPF muffler with an euro 3 catalyst??? There's some E46 catalysts on auto parts stores that has the same shape as the F series DPF. You won't have to drill nothing, just replace it with a new part. And you will have the catalyst functionality and better exhaust sound absorbing.
      I appreciate opinions. Thanks

Just a point worth mentioning , you are all free to do what you want with your cars however as it is illegal to drive a car with a removed or altered DPF which makes the car technically un roadworthey and should you check your small print in your insurance also makes your car un-insured so if you have a major accident , your fault or not and the car is checked which is the first thing Police and insurance companies look for these days especially undeclared tune maps along with EGR and DPF deletes will invalidate any insurance or claim as any car with an altered or removed DPF or EGR should technically fail an MOT if detected but is legally clasified un roadworthey and not insured and is illegal to drive on a public highway.
Roll the dice and take your chance but now you have the facts and as George has fully documented the removal of his DPF which is not illegal but when driving it on the road is commiting an offence should look forward to the blue lights in his rear view mirror very soon .

Like I said it everyones choice however if the vehicle is involved in a serious incident regardless of fault the Police and Insurance company will check for vehicle compliance and have the tools to check and know first hand, should they find an undecalred map or altered emissions system they have the right to reject the claim and the liability for any damage caused and will become your personal liability including any third party damage or claim.
I put this out here to ensure you are aware of the implications and just because you know people who have had claims without any issues does not negate the law relating to an accident or serious claim.
The insurance compnay will always check if the contract between insurer and individual is correct especially in the event of a large serious claim and is the time you need your insurance. It is now illegal for any MOT tester to pass any DPF that has been tampered with or welded without a satifactory explination and new regs are looking to be introduced to check for empty or altered DPFs. This will mean thousands of cars failing needing replacment DPFs to obtain a vailid MOT. I am not an eco warrior but this is a major issue for the future and you would have been better off cleanning or flushing your DPF and saving you from possible major legal issues for your future and wanted to ensure that anyone following your advise has all the facts and risks to enable a decision which they fully understand the possible consequences.
