This is the most amazing tip ever!! I have large pores and have been doing this after I apply my foundation for over a month and it makes my makeup look flawless. It also makes my makeup stay put longer. Wayne you are a genius thank you!
I powder all the time because it makes a difference to the smoothness of my skin and even though I knew about this technique I never understood it until now. Hope that makes sense. It is so simple yet so effective.
I can not WAIT for your brushes. Out of all the MA's out there, it's your vids I return to over and over again for honest, practical, and realistic information. Everyone is going wilder and crazier with the makeup, and that's fantastic to see all the creativity, but your real-world application and solid no-nonsense techniques are always a standard for natural to radical looks.
Please, PLEASE make your brush available in the U.S. when you're done! Your videos are the absolute best, and I'd buy any product you put out because I know you're not just trying to make a quick buck. Everything you say and do is totally honest and sincere, so I'd trust anything from you.
You've revealed MY secret! For years and years I've had compliments on my skin when I use Lancome Dual Finish powder over my makeup. I use the sponge that you can wet but I don't wet it. I use it dry and am careful not to over - Kabuki the look. It works like a dream. Thanks for all your wonderful hints. Even as a 50 year old, I learn a great deal from you. !! Jo-Anne in Vancouver
I LOVE this method, ive been doing it since you mentioned that some of us may be using the powder brush incorrectly. I used to think it was every foundation i bought, but now i realised it was the way i applied my powder.
seriously, its amazing that you keep teaching new things even with all the gurus and tips we've received online already. And its an old trick??? I would NEVER have guessed
You know what needed this video and your insight on not trying to eradicate all pores. I was going mental trying to find products that would make you "poreless" like a movie star. Now I'll just concentrate on getting makeup to look the best that it can. If you still see pores, so be it.
thank you soo much for this. i tried it and it didnt break me out at all. the pores on my nose are ginormous. but after doing this they completely looked smooth and amazing. thank you soo soo much !
Ohhhh! If you brought out your own brand of brushes - or even makeup - I swear I'd purchase it all. You've gained so many people's trust and you are the most honest, and most useful, makeup guru on TH-cam! And GOOD LUCK! :D
I've always noticed pores looked better when powdered lightly, I have dry skin so I've taken to only using powder on my T-Zone, where my pores are the most noticeable. Great tip to share :) And, I've used different kinds of primer first and it never looks as good as when I just add a touch of powder. Thanks for all your hard work Wayne!
thank you for this amaaaazing tip! i have HUGE pores on the area around my nose and i ve really tested 10000 things to make them look smaller or reduce them. this is the first thing that really worked for me! THANK YOU
this is so true!!! i've always wondered why people were so hyped about using brushes, as i find using a sponge works best for flawless powder application.
Very excited for your brush prototype to come out. I've been following you for a little over a year now and I don't think there is anyone I would trust more than you to release a quality product.
Thanks for all these great tips, you are awesome! I'm wondering if you have a solution to my problem though, I have pretty big pores on my nose and although I can cover them up in the morning with foundation and powder, after a few hours it seems as if all the foundation settles in my pores, leaving little dots of make-up on my nose..any idea about what I can do to avoid this?
i love it how you always describe everything in your description box, thanks for the tip, and good luck with getting the brush on the market, looking forward to it.
I tried this trick and it really does work great. I have pores the size of Lake Superior on certain areas of my face and no amount of primer, foundation, concealers have ever made those areas look decently smooth. This method makes my skin in those areas look so very much better. And my foundation sticks better and lasts longer, too. I don't get clogged pores from this method. And if any pores are going to clog, it would be my big, honking ones. lol Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Awesome makeup tip...and best of luck ob building the brush prototype. What did you mean by the fact that you would be more worried about lotions, potions, primers, moisturisers, SPF, more primers etc... than i would be with powder? Which would you say was enough to use daily?
Your videos are the best short and to the point, without any useless babbling..... everyday I wait for a new video. Thanks to you my make up looks much better and even my friends starting to come to me for an advice......I just send them to watch your videos, cause no one will explain things better than you.
Lmao "it looks mental" in the most sincere way possible. I just love all of your videos & I'm so glad I found your channel:) your tips have helped me so much sense I've started watching and I get complements all the time now! I also love that your videos are straight to the point:)
Good luck with the brush! I completely agree with your comments concerning BUT SKIN NEEDS TO BREATH! People will slap on three or four lotions and creams etc on their face but then blame the makeup for breaking them out.
First, good luck with your prototype! That will be a Godsend! So, I understand about skin looking natural, we all have pores and that keeps our faces looking real. But, do you apply foundation over the powder? Or the powder over the foundation?
How do we then get the powder OUT of those pores at night when we remove our makeup? It was my understanding that cleanser only cleanses the surface of our skin..?
Hi, Wayne, it's been a couple years since you've made this video and you probably won't even see this comment but have you made this specific brush for pores yet? I saw your other tutorial, not completely sure what brush is suitable for buffing in pores. I tried it today with what natural hair brushes I have, didn't work so well so I'm wondering exactly what brush I need and if you have made yours. Thanks! As others, I've learned so much from your videos and now that I'm middle aged I feel like I'm learning how to do makeup for the first time because what I've always done doesn't work anymore! Your videos are invaluable!
Good luck with the brush. That would be wonderful! I have large pores, especially in the center of my face (nose, cheeks, forehead). I'm going to try this and see how it works. Tyfs! :)
Do you use this same method for dry or mature skin, or do you recommend a primer? Also I see people mentioning the clogging of the skin, I come to believe that we are actually in some instances providing protection to our skin since the makeup is a barrier to the dirt, pollution, etc., your thoughts? Have a lovely day.
I have some enlarged pores on my cheeks I'd like to try this on, thanks so much for the tip! Maybe you could do a really quick informative video specifically for people who don't quite understand how pores work? Just a suggestion :) Best of luck on your brush and please tell me it will be available in the U.S. I would buy any brush you designed!
awesome video! i always used a brush because i thought a puff will cake up the powder on my face. i'll definitely give your method a try. thanks wayne!
I'm a beauty therapist/make up artist, this is a very good idea. And is ok occasionally, but it is not good for your pores, clogging them up with power could bring out spots! I'd use a gentle exfoliator when you go to take your make up off! :D very good tip though!
I can totally see the difference! Unfortunately it won't work for everyone =/ I've tried this before with different powders. As you said in the video "you still want it to look like skin", but every time I try this it just ends up looking fake... It a great tip though and I think everyone who wants to minimize the appearance of pores should try this! Great video ^_^
i saw in your description you say any pressed or loose powder will work except mineral foundation, why is this? love your videos, thanks for your no-nonsense advice!
wow!! thank you so much for uploading this video! it totally help me a lot! but i have a question will the make up remover be able to take out all the powder out from the pores?
If you take good care of your skin/pores it won't be too much of a problem. For my face lotion, I make sure it's oil-free so it doesn't clog pores (as well has having spf). For makeup, I put a very light powder over any problem areas. And I use a light pore scrub that unclogs pores and shrinks their size in the shower.
Do you think using a disposable make up cotton remover would work too instead of the puff ? I'll try both, and again thanks for the simplicity and cost aware solutions as ever. :-) Daniele
Oops! I have Clinique's Pore Min Instant Perfector and also the Refining Lotion. I don't see a difference, probably not using them correctly. Can you do a vid showing how to use these types of products? Looking forward to the brushes. I will buy anything you put out...you rock!
I swear you have the BEST makeup tips. As an up and coming makeup artist I don't know where I would be without your channel. Lol. Thanks for being real with us. Love your channel. Good luck with your foundation brush!!
i think for us individuals with oily skin, it is best to not add shimmer (or at least not to the areas where there is an excessive amount of oil). eventually, the oils of the face will resurface, mix with the shimmer, then just look a bit weird in my opinion. however, if you you like the shiny look, go for it.!
I always use a brush for powder, but this method seems to be more effective? What sort of powder puff do you recommend? Maybe that's a silly question but we don't have many options in Australia so I would maybe have to order something online. Thanks so much for this tutorial xx Love what you do! ♥
i think it is a good method, but for a short time, when skin starts to glow everything shows up, in my opinion it is good but for a photoshoot sesion not for all day. btw i love your tips!! cant wait for another one.
The eyeliner vid made my day yesterday (and worked for me!), this vid make my day today. I saw another video about the powder technique you do and now I am looking for good puffs, but I guess I end up making my own custom made. THANK YOU for your honest and really great advice. PS: Everybody says that its not healthy to FILL the pores, so that they cannot "breath". Is it ok to fill them in?
Thank you for this effective tip! I can never get enough of "simple" beauty tips (aka, not using a dozen different products). Question though, would you recommend cleansing your face extra thoroughly with this method? Does the powder leave residue inside the pores? Love you :) XXX Gerlinde
This is a really helpful tip, but I wonder, would it be most recommended for oily skin? Would it draw more attention to dry skin, because powder is used? Thanks Goss!
You're my favourite makeup guru on youtube. You're genuine, likeable, your videos are really informative and I've learned so much from your tips :) thanks so much wayne! x
Wayne, thanks for this! Definitely appreciate it! Hope you don't let the few non-appreciative ones get you down. It never fails to amaze me how people with probably minimal knowledge of makeup feel they can tell a professional MUA what he's doing wrong. *sigh* Everyone's an expert. *eye roll* Thanks for what you do for us! Anyway, I've been trying to find a simple way to make pores look smaller for a while and this is one method I hadn't heard of! Can't wait to try it! :)

Ok, how do you make them disappear without makeup?
I love your videos! For some reason the way you speak makes me feel calm and at peace lol love you!
I've been using this method for awhile now and it works fabulously. I find that it works better than a line filler or pore eliminating primer.
I needed to hear that I shouldn't get rid of ALL my pores. Thanks for the tip. And much success to your brush endeavor. Good luck.
I've done this for years!!! I'm so pround of myself~~ Thank you for the great advice, as usual. I can hardly wait to see your new brush!!
seriously, its amazing that you keep teaching new things even with all the gurus and tips we've received online already. And its an old trick??? I would NEVER have guessed

LOVE these simple tips! Nice to see a guru that doesn't recommend a million expensive products.
Will this method result into blackheads? Or clogged pores in general? D:
I love this guy! Seriously!
Wow! You need to write a book. All of your tips have made such a huge difference in my appearance. Thanks a million!

hello , which type of powder do you use , i don't understand loose or pressed powder , tahnk you
I don't really need this, but I love how short and informative your videos are.
Please keep up the great work!
what a great technique! Though I imagine you'll have to wash/exfoliate really well at the end of the day to get all the powder back out of your skin.
Been doing this for years. It works. ☺

I'm going to try this on my sister sometime, she worries about her large pores a lot. Good luck with your brush!
I can't believe that after 2 years on YT I see that method for the first time! Thank you!

wayne i so appreciate your videos because of the length, honesty, and usefulness!
It looks mental...literally laughed out loud! You are not only a talented makeup artist, but you are also funny :)
Ooo Wayne, so happy your are looking at proto-types of brushes. I always thought you'd make a great brush set. Best of luck to you! xoxo
Which powder are you using in the demonstration? I love your videos!!!! Short, to the point, & sweet.
I dislike pore minimizing products because they mattify and I have very dry skin so it doesn't work for me. I am going to give this a try. Thanks!
I'm a beauty therapist/make up artist, this is a very good idea. And is ok occasionally, but it is not good for your pores, clogging them up with power could bring out spots! I'd use a gentle exfoliator when you go to take your make up off! :D very good tip though!
Yesterday I was surfing randomly around on youtube, saw your eyeliner/lashcurling-tutorial... now I'm in love with your videos...
I can totally see the difference! Unfortunately it won't work for everyone =/ I've tried this before with different powders. i saw in your description you say any pressed or loose powder will work except mineral foundation, why is this? love your videos, thanks for your no-nonsense advice!

Wow! I can certainly see a difference!! And I cant wait until your brush comes out!! Greetings from Australia xx

Great, simple method. What does this do to fine lines? Does it fill them or sink onto them making them more obvious? Great video as always. :)

I forget how amazing that technique works! Puffs dont get enough love
Can't wait for your brush! I hope it's also going to be available in the US. Good luck!
A-ma-zing! Thank you Wayne. But will this work on the 2/3 humangous pores on my nose? I'll have to try. Love your cute smile! (I had to say it).
Good luck on your prototype! How exciting! As usual, great video.

@gossmakeupartist what kind of powder are you using, and is that a Nars powder puff?
You're my favourite makeup guru on youtube. You're genuine, likeable, your videos are really informative and I've learned so much from your tips :) thanks so much wayne! x
your brush sounds brilliant! i'm excited on your behalf. will it be available in North America like Sam Chapman's?
Good luck with the brush!!! can't wait for the demo once it's ready
Good luck on the foundation brush! I'm excited!
That looks amazing!! But, how do you get the powder out of your pores at the end of the day?
definitely see a difference. I have huge pores in my tzone. I'll certainly be trying this. I had to find a powder poof thing now
I would buy anything you sell. I believe in your approach. Good job!
brilliant! is it bad for your skin though?
Love me some old school tricks! Best of luck on the foundation brush. Can't wait to see it. You should be very proud. :)
i've had a good results with face&body also for my black heads :D ♥
is not bad at all and is so natural looking ♥
Good luck with the development of your brush! Now I'm looking forward to trying it... If u make it available in the U.S. ;)
I will be doing this tonight! Thanks Wayne. Congrats on the prototype, hope it goes well :)
Totally excited for your brush. Hope you'll make it available in Australia. Xx
looks great! i myself use a primer with brush and mineral powder but ill give this a shot thanks!
i just found you one week ago and now you are my absolute favourite youtuber (:
Can't wait on your brush good luck and hope it will be available in the USA
Wayne, you must have been reading my mind because I was wondering how to do this 3 days ago. Thanks for the tip, you're always a great help. Hugs. L
Wayne, thanks for this! Definitely appreciate it! Hope you don't let the few non-appreciative ones get you down. Would this work after I apply foundation??
Would it be possible for you to do a video on covering beard shadow? Something I've been having trouble with.
WOW! I just tried it, and it works! It is fast and easy, too! Thank you so much for this tip!
Great vid! Will you ever be doing the concealer for women of colour vid??
you are making a foundation brush!?! I hope it will be available in the usa when it is done!
