- Indie comix from the 80's legitimized a fandom, Stan Sakai's "Usagi Yojimbo" walks us through that journey.

Nickelodeon needs to make a Usagi Yojimbo series......there are so many great stories they could cover. Fun, historical and entertaining...and think of the toy line...win win.
Everyone should read Usagi Yojimbo at some point, whether they're a furry or not.
I'll get on that just read blacksad and dam its gooooood
I had forgotten what thunderpaw was until now, Thanks dude!
Yeah man. Comic books are a really good platform for anthro stuff I think and there are loads of talented writers and artists in the independant scene these days. I have to recommend The Autumnlands. Easily the -best- anthro series I've found in a long time.
this comic about the bunny dose not sound like a bad idea
He is my fursonas inspiration.
Twokinds is my favorite comic
You shut up about Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man! Doom Patrol was and is a precious gem and it must be protected for the benefit of mankind.
Actually, furry characters go back to the earliest days of the comics: perhaps the earliest were Jimmy Swinnerton's *Journal Tigers* in 1897. Other early anthros include Tad Dorgan's *Judge Rummy*, George Herriman's *Krazy Kat*, Sidney Smith's *Old Doc Yak*, and many others. 7@=e
***** Outstanding! Thanks for your story. In some upcoming video's we look at the early years of the fandom, so stay tuned! If you notice anything that I may have gotten wrong (because it's all research based, I wasn't there) please let the channel know so that I can make corrections in the future!
Thanks for subscribing!
+Arrka aside from not mentioning it began as an offshoot of the Sci fi Fandom I didn't see anything wrong. It's not meant to be extensive just a fun overview so it's fine and works well.
Back in the olden days we called furries cartoons.
Also! Thank you for listing Ian Jay in the description whatsit. Epiphany is one of the more interesting fictional musings on divinity I've read.
Oh, hey, they're going by Iris now. Apologies to Iris Jay!
Tijuana Bibles are the birth of rule 34. I love it.
Curiously you missed the European use of anthromophics in political commentary, missed the use of us in Gay Comics, Omaha comics.
Extinctioners. Really good set of Super-Hero Anthro comics. Has some poor spots in its writing, but that can come about later.
This was great! I love these episodes! My favourite furry comic is Subject 9
My favourite comic is Sabrina online
Im writing my own furry comic :3
May I recommend Funny Farm?
Pawsome!!!!! I remember Usagi Yojimbo. Also Playmates Toys made a Figure of him for the Ninja Turtles toy line and the two guys who created Ninja Turtles was a big fan of Usagi Yojimbo. =^.^=
My favorite furry comics are
Coyote River
TMNT
Housepets!
Motion in the Ocean
...Redrusker
Have you seen zoophodia? You should check it out.
Fritz The Cat has 2 films? I can only find one.
Maggie Hatton, Fritz the cat, and Nine lives of Fritz the Cat. The second one isn't all that great.
My favorite furry comic is Endtown. I recommend looking it up!
Usagi is Great! Heck He's In The 2012 TMNT Series!
Hang on the image you used for the Japanese comic it was not called manga at the time
I want to start reading the Usagi comics, but can't find them cheap? How could I buy them? I'm new to comics, and don't know much about them. I only know Usagi through the 2003 TMNT reboot, but I want to read his comics. I live in Australia, by the way..... So, yeah, are there "collections" I can buy? And where can I get all (or at least most) of these comics? I can't find them anywhere! Please help??
+R.R. Petrichor Its a big enough publication that your local comic shop would be the best place to start, they could probably ship it in for you if they don't have it. Otherwise check eBay or amazon or other online bookstore that delivers to your area. Or hey, maybe even a really big local library with a graphic novel section.
+R.R. Petrichor Hi, I'd suggest buying the Saga versions. They're only $24.95 retail but you get 3 trade books in each one! I'd recommend buying it online since you are located in Australia, I think they are imported there. Hope that helps!
Furry comic books kick ass. 😀👍
