They don’t have a third film for these films because the MCU got the rights to spider man before the third film could be made. Which is when spider man showed up in civil war. Andrew had to be sacrificed for us to have spidey in the MCU
Andrew's portrayal of Spiderman is my favorite..the suit and the movement, so fluid.. anyways..the Amazing Spiderman franchise is actually Sony's counterpart to the MCU..sony wanted to be a cinematic universe around the world of spiderman..the 3rd film was actually a villain-centric film, Sinister 6, with 6 of spiderman's villains teamed-up.. also, Gwen is the girlfriend of Peter before MJ in the comics..and Spiderman uses web-shooters in the comics, its only Tobey's version that have his webs coming out of his skin..
A lot of people say it, but I always felt it reigned true. Tobey was a great Peter Parker, Garfield was a great Spider-Man, and Holland is a great mix of both.
Mechanical spiderweb never sat right with me tho. I prefer it being like a biological thing instead of a technology thing. I think Holland is a mix of both but not a good Peter Parker compared to Toby and not as good a Spiderman as Garfield. He's like a mix of both but doesn't portray it as good as the two in the past IMO but he's overall great in a sense.
@@2nerC9 Mechanical webs is more true to the comics though. Biological webs was just a weird Sam Raimi thing because he didn't like that Spidey was supposed to be "one of us", yet was a Science tech genius (which isn't relatable).
Tom's really a worse Peter than both. Tobey was pretty geeky and had his moments of spite and arrogance. Andrew was a more modern adaptation of Peter seeing as being "nerdy"isn't really a thing you can be bullied about now, so he's more of a weird ass who also can be an asshole at times. People constantly seem to forget that The OG Peter Parker was a lil asshole and kinda self centred, his actions and monologues in the early days really highlight this. Like when he was about to Join the F4 but left right before because he wouldn't get paid, and he actually Just let the robber go for no reason. As in he just didn't feel like stopping him, which really highlights the irresponsibility he had at first. Instead of him just getting back at someone who's a dick to him (Wrestler Manager and shop clerk)
You gotta remember that Spider-Man first appeared in the comics in the 1960's. Over the *decades* he has had a few different girlfriends. In the comics, his very first girlfriend was Betty Brant who you saw in the original Tobey Maguire trilogy. She was the secretary for J. Jonah Jameson, the one who took care of paying Peter for his photographs. In the Tom Holland movies she is the blonde girl who is on the school... news broadcast I guess you call it? And in Far From Home she was Ned's first girlfriend after they sat next to each other on the flight to Europe. But Peter Parker's first serious girlfriend was Gwen Stacey.
The point that makes gwens dad at the diner is pretty good(spiderman act like vigilante) and is the day that he sees what he suppose to do with that power..best spiderman movies
The way he hunted the lizard with the web is just how webs work in general... spiders feel the vibration and go see what they caught. Also, lol I think he does have a personality in this movie, it's just kinda the male version of the "Manic, Pixie, Dreamgirl" archetype... basically a space-cadet/introvert who is a dreamer to the point of being narcissistic... they kind of lean into the idea of power corrupting people in this one, and we get to see Peter sort of work through it and Dr. Connors succumb to it... but it's interesting how they let us see the flaws in Peter right from the get-go as opposed to him being automatically loveable... sort of an interesting version. Certain parts of these movies are more comic accurate than all the others... the largest difference is some of the villains and parent origin stuff... but Peter inventing the webs, and dating Gwen is all classic Spidey. I think Tobey was the best Peter Parker, Garfield was the best in the suit, and Holland is somewhere in the middle for me. Garfield just emotes out of the suit so much better and has very classic Spidey mannerisms in his posture (imo). You don't need to see these technically because they don't connect to the main mcu, but they do build to a pretty specific comic book moment that is a huge backstory beat for Spidey that none of the other movies get into, so that's prolly why people wanted you to watch them
This was the most comic accurate Peter and Gwen, although he’s not quite geeky and awkward as Peter should be. They at least got his scientific genius correct
A little Easter Egg: The suitcase that Tom Holland's Peter Parker took on his trip to Europe, was his dad's. There were his initials on that bag too (R.F.P, which means Richard Franklin Parker) 😄😄😄
The villain is called Lizard, there's a rogue gallery of villains that Spider-Man faces in the comics: Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Venom, Lizard, Vulture, Mysterio, Electro and so many more
You were bagging on this Spiderman at the beginning, but Garfield is my favorite Spiderman. He most accurately reflects the Spiderman from the comics and really reflects him from the Amazing Spiderman from that comic series. The big thing about Spiderman, is he doesn't understand his limits. He's stronger than Captain America, more flexible than most of the heroes. His limitation is himself. In comics, he lifts tanks, buildings and in one instance launched a version of the Hulk into space. The venom constantly evolves him. Unlike Cap or other serum based heroes, Spiderman is constantly evolving, getting better. He never learns his own limits. This Spiderman is a very accurate depiction. This guy never figures himself out.
Peter Parker in the comics was a science nerd. He didn't play sports or ride a skateboard. He was the quintessential outcast teenager. One that the jocks like Flash Thompson would pick on like he did Eugene. For this round of Amazing Spider-Man Gwen Stacy, Peter's first girlfriend is the love interest. 😂 The descending upside down shot is a typical view in a Spider-Man comic. Many artists have drawn that pose. 😊 I remember a video game from the early eighties called Crazy Climber where a player tries to climb up the outside of various skyscrapers. It was one of the first "platform" style games like Donkey Kong. Then there was Rampage where the player controlled one of three different giant monsters. One of which was a Godzilla type lizard, one a giant Wolf Man and one a giant Ape like King Kong. 😂
Andrew is actually really good at skateboarding, so he pitched the idea of Peter skating. As you can see, they went with it! As for Andrew’s portrayal of Peter Parker, I loved it. He’s incredibly intelligent, like always, but he’s also socially awkward and he looks like he’s always in his thoughts because he is, he has a lot of emotional baggage he’s been keeping. He’s kind of a jerk, but he becomes more compassionate at the end. As for Spider-Man, he’s excellent. His quips, his movements being so spider like, the suit! (His suit in the TASM 2 is my favorite) As for the spider web in the sewers, the way he utilizes the web is how spiders actually hunt! They wait for the web to catch their prey and then follow the vibrations to eat them!
Andrew is my fave spider man and peter parker. Amazing spider man is my favorite too, his acting and personality in the movies is so peter parker, awkward, plain, smart, and of course the girlfriend Gwen Stacy. And making his own spider webs. It's so comic spider man coded.
The reason why they didn't make a 3rd movie was because of a lot of things but mainly the movies didnt make as much money as they predicted, garfield not showing up to events and Webb direction kept being questioned by Sony so Webb walked away. Fun fact is that Garfield was supposed to be one of the Avengers... that's the reason Holland Spider-Man doesn't have an origin story. Not to mention Sony has the rights to Spider-Man while Disney has the rights to most Marvel characters including The Avengers.
There are only 2 because the movies flopped and weren't received well and Sony cancelled the plans for a 3rd one and then made a deal with Disney to include Spider-Man in the MCU
I watched this movie in the theater. I am a Tobey fan. I hated the trailer for this movie but it all changed when the Spiderman saved that kid in the movie. "Put on the mask it will make you strong"
There was going to be a spider man 4 with Toby involving the vulture (who appeared in homecoming) and the guy who was the wrestling announcer, the usher and the French restaurant host was gonna be revealed to be mysterio (from far from home). They were also gonna make an amazing spierman 3 but the amazing spiderman series and spiderman 3 were so badly recieved that they couldn't green light further movies so they gave up and collaborated with marvel
This is an interesting one. I love the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy and I love MCU Spider-Man trilogy. But for The Amazing Spider-Man films, I don’t have the strongest affinity for. I do, however, appreciate what these movies were trying to do. Peter’s arc throughout this film is done well in my opinion. Lizard’s design could use some work but the school fight was really cool. And the cast did a great job here.
In the earlier comic books and amazing spiderman comics, Peter was more of a lonewolf/outsider and quite socially awkward around people tbh. He didn’t really have the cliche super geeky persona too much, yeah he was super intelligent especially in science..however, he didn’t really really fit in any group. He does get bullied/tease time to time from Flash, but that’s really it. It was only in different iterations and comics where they really shaped Peter as geeky and quite clumsy. So technically, Andrew’s Peter was slightly more accurate in terms of being awkward and a loner. It’s just that Andrew is just attractive even if he had to be an outsider/science genius. But his Spiderman is just top tier for me…his witty quips, commentary, and cockiness is so comic book actuate. The way he swings, moves, acts, and fights is legit like a SPIDER. Andrew, who really is a huge fan of spiderman growing up really embodied the neighborhood friendly spiderman for real. He put his everything in these 2 films and deserves the recognition and love he has been receiving for the past 2-3 years now. I felt his films and portrayal of Spiderman has been very under appreciated in the past, but thankfully people appreciate Andrew’s Peter/Spidey. For me, of course Tobey is the OG and gives me huge nostalgia cuz I grew up with his trilogy. The little changes that the Raimi did like Peter organically producing webs from his wrist was interesting and very different from the comic books. Andrew and Tom’s Spider-Man’s creating the web fluids for their web shooters is more comic book accurate. As someone already mentioned there were love interests for Peter.. actually there were A LOT before Gwen and MJ came along some who came after high school too. But Gwen was Peter’s original first love and first serious relationship. Then MJ came after to pick up the pieces of a severely broken hearted Peter. Even if he did move on and fell in love again, he still has a very special connection with Gwen and thinks about her in the comics. If you continue on to Spiderverse movies, you’ll see how much of an influence she is in the Spiderverse. No disrespect to MJ at all because she is Peter’s endgame, but yeah Gwen was just overall such a great match for Peter from the comic to TASM until now. Andrew and Emma’s chemistry is just off the charts crazy!! They were truly meant to play Peter and Gwen and following them is Tom and Zendaya’s Peter and MJ.
Not only was Gwen Stacy his first girlfriend before MJ but she's so much better girlfriend when compared to MJ, she is more proactive not always a damsel in distress
That's what I'm talking about, Peter idea of the costume came from wrestling. He started wrestling to use his new abilities and make some money. So this left out the wrestling like the comic books and other movie.
Most superheroes have had several starts, reboots in the comics. A new writer, a new editor, but also for several other reasons. Spiderman first appeared as a teenager in 1962, now he would be in his late 70's I guess. A reboot gives a new generation a chance to fall in love with a popular hero, but also gives a chance to modernise the story, the writing, the art. Anyway in both the comics and the movies we have now seen several different tellings, versions of this classic story, each very familiar, each very different. Back in the day Gwen was his first love, MJ came later as his true love. Again though in thousands of comics, stories these aren't the only ones to touch his heart in one way or another. Love this version of Spiderman, Amazing 2, No Way Home & the new animations into the Spiderverse/Across the Spiderverse are my favourites (I hope you see those too). Originally Tobey's movies were supposed to run to 4 movies, but creative differences, box office pressures etc... saw them move on to Andrew/Amazing, but this started about the same time as the MCU, too soon after Tobey, competing with the Fox & MCU movies they suffered at the box office which brought Sony & Disney to the Table giving us Tom's version. I hope this helps, thank you for your reactions
Sony only did two of these movies because the deal was struck to have Tom Holland bring SpiderMan into the MCU before the third Amazing Spider Man was really into production.
@The Octobers First, to answer your question (though I’m sure others have already done so), there was supposed to be an Amazing Spider-Man 3 in which Mary Jane was featured as a love interest, she was portrayed by Shailene Woodley (star of Fault in our Stars, Divergent, etc.), but the final entry of the trilogy was essentially canceled after Amazing Spider-Man 2 underperformed at the box office. Second, I can’t recall exactly where you guys left off in your MCU rewatch, but I’d sure love it if you could PLEASE watch Spider-Man: No Way Home BEFORE you begin the long journey into X-Men. I’m pretty sure no one would hate you if you took a brief detour from the release order on just that one (just make sure if you do that you skip the second post credit scene, which is essentially just a preview for an upcoming MCU film, Doctor Strange 2). I’m just dying to see you guys react to that one, and I’m willing to bet I’m not totally alone!! Just a friendly suggestion/request. I know it might be a long shot but, hey, I had to ask! 😉 As long as you’ve seen Far From Home, once you finish Amazing Spider-Man 2, you should be fully prepared to watch NWH…though, I must add, it would also benefit you to watch some of the Netflix original Marvel shows first if you haven’t already done so. Not necessary, by any means…just…helpful. 😊 Thanks for all you do, I’m loving reliving the journey…it’s so much fun watching with you both! Happy 2024, can’t wait for more Marvel fun with you guys! 😀
Great reaction y'all! Yep, you nailed it; both Gwen and MJ were in the comics, at different stages of Peter's life. To say any more would spoil the next movie. Btw, y'all are doing great; knowing about the Tobeyverse and Andrewverse will heighten the MCU experience down the line for sure. Enjoy the ride!
Tobey is my favourite peter parker he really got that nerdy but handsome look. Andrew is my favourite spiderman i like that he’s so goofy and cool at the same time when he’s in action as spiderman, i like his humor and chill vibe. He’s too cool as peter parker tho. Tom is my favourite peter parker and spiderman he’s a great combination of both tbh. He got that nerdiness but also funny and cool, and he looks exactly like a teenager high school student.
So only reason why 2 films sony did a contract with marvel andrew was supposed to be in civil war but marvel went behind sony back and recast tom and got rid of andrew
In the comics Gwen's the OG Girlfriend she gets killed by green goblin then MJ is the second one afterwards since then in the comics films the story changes so in some like the Tobey film for instance there was no Gwen at the start it was MJ and Peter. In these films there is no MJ but there's Gwen basically there are ALOT of Spider-Man stories in the comics, films etc. Spider-Man is not one straight story
There was MJ in second part i saw some deleted pictures they cut it maybe because of the chemistry between Gwen and peter and they didn't want to be overshadowed
Rampage is the name of the game you were thinking of. There is a movie based on it with Dwayne the Rock Johnson in it if you need a random movie to react to.
Why no Andrew Garfield Spider-man 3? The story is that Sony was having some big shindig in Brazil for the World Cup. The head of Sony was supposed to introduce Andrew Garfield and they were both going to announce ASM-3 in the works. Apparently Andrew arrived late (and sick) to Brazil and last minute backed out because he wasn’t feeling well. So Sony essentially canceled the Spider-man announcement and then canceled Garfield. It’s a shame. He definitely deserved a 3rd film.
Well that and Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn't do very well at the box office (not as much as Sony wanted). Don't forget this movie is far more respected NOW than it was in 2012 when it came out, and AMS2 is widely considered the worst film in all of them (not by me, I always liked it). Sony had 3 and 4 planned but scrapped them and made the deal with Marvel knowing full well Marvel would make them bank...and they did.

@@ghostmkc4045not the worst films the very first one was very good the second was shaky that’s all
Peter Parker was a nerd all the way through College in the comics
They don’t have a third film for these films because the MCU got the rights to spider man before the third film could be made. Which is when spider man showed up in civil war. Andrew had to be sacrificed for us to have spidey in the MCU
And to add to it they were not only planning a third but also a fourth which than got shut down.
Dude I always say this too. It's very true.
Holland is nothing like Spiderman. I'm sorry I don't understand how you consider him good in any aspect.
I love it when this Spider-Man is swinging around, It's like you're actually the one swinging around
Andrew is by far my favorite Spider-Man of the 3, and Andrew's suit in the second film is the best live action Spider-Man suit imo.
You don't need to see these technically because they don't connect to the main mcu, but they do build to a pretty specific comic book moment that is a huge backstory beat for Spidey that none of the other movies get into, so that's prolly why people wanted you to watch them
This is the best NY Spider-Man
The suit was clean!
In the comics, Flash Thompson is a bully because he has a shitty home life, and ironically loves Spider-Man and hates Peter Parker :P
If you don't notice , Dr connors in mcguire spiderman has also 1 limb
This was the most comic accurate Peter and Gwen, although he’s not quite geeky and awkward as Peter should be. They at least got his scientific genius correct
Spider-Man doesn't have natural webs, in the comics it comes from a web shooter just like how Tom and Andrew do
Finally the best Spider Man movie made to date. Gonna love this reaction!
A little Easter Egg: The suitcase that Tom Holland's Peter Parker took on his trip to Europe, was his dad's. There were his initials on that bag too (R.F.P, which means Richard Franklin Parker) 😄😄😄
Andrew's spiderman has the best web swinging physics among all three.
One of the best Spiderman films in my opinion and awesome reaction guys.
andrew garfield is my favorite spider man
Andrew Garfield Spiderman let's go!
I love Emma Stone from Zombieland. Seeing her in Spiderman v2 as Gwen was Noice~
The Spider-Man marathon is not over you still have the animated Spiderman movies
The BEST SPIDERMAN, hands down
don’t know if you know this already but lizard is a spider man comic villain, like venom, scorpion, falcon, electro, shocker, kraven, etc
The descending upside down shot is a typical view in a Spider-Man comic. Many artists have drawn that pose. 😊
I remember a video game from the early eighties called Crazy Climber where a player tries to climb up the outside of various skyscrapers. It was one of the first "platform" style games like Donkey Kong. Then there was Rampage where the player controlled one of three different giant monsters. One of which was a Godzilla type lizard, one a giant Wolf Man and one a giant Ape like King Kong. 😂
Notice the transformation of Aunt May to Aunt Heyyyyyy, they made her fine by the MCU movies lol.
Web shooters was all I wanted from Toby Spider Man and all I wanted from this was Toby's Peter Parker ironically.
Andrew Garfield😊❤❤🔥🔥👌
Thye amazing spiderman 1 and 2 has by far the best swinging
RAMPAGE - video game! Great memories!
There are only 2 because the movies flopped and weren't received well and Sony cancelled the plans for a 3rd one and then made a deal with Disney to include Spider-Man in the MCU
i'm glad you both liked this movie, cuz my favorite spidey by far is Andrew
i wished he had a 3rd movie
okay so we just watched the second one it'll be up here soon but we TOTALLY agree now!
Will the two of you consider watching "The Punisher" With Thomas Jane and John Travolta. The Punisher is also a Marvel Comic Series.
I watched this movie in the theater. I am a Tobey fan. I hated the trailer for this movie but it all changed when the Spiderman saved that kid in the movie.
"Put on the mask it will make you strong"
Andrew is the better actor out of all three, tbh. He did it best, be it Peter or Spider-Man
I’d say he did it best as Spider-Man… as Peter ehh it was off to me but it ain’t that bad tho
Andrew is my favorite Spider-Man
But we all love Dork Peter don't we 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
Peter Parker is supposed to be dorky not "cool", hence why Tobey and Tom did a more accurate portrayal
That’s more up to the directors though. Andrew did great with what he’d been given, and I actually like cool Peter Parker a lot.
‘He’s a hungry spider!’
I have been webbing the like button for quite a while now, Thx Mr O 🙏
You guys should watch Zombie Land. The girl who plays Gwen Stacy is in it. It is really a fun zombie movie:)
I think the game you were talking about is Rampage. you could be a lizard or wolf or monkey and just destroy buildings lol.
Lizzy, Ralph, and George were the names of the monsters in the Rampage game. I loved that game as a kid.
I believe the old video game you are talking about is called Rampage.
RIP to the incredibly talented composer James Horner 🙏 😢
Love this movie. Saw it opening night in theaters. I was 11
I'm glad he won you over. I think he's the best spider-man. And the best actor.
Andrew Garfield is my celebrity crush. Thank you both for doing this reaction. You guys are great 🙂.
I believe in the comics spiderman started out wrestling once he got his powers.
Rampage is the game you climb buildings and smash.... witch also was turned into a movie in 2018
Guys, I almost didn't watch this. Please don't forget to include “first time watching”
hmm noted thank you
"Oh I'm in trouble"
"Yeah you are. You're in love with a Spiderman with no personality"
😂
This my fav spider man/Peter and the second movie the amazing spider man 2 has the best spider man suit in my opinion
That was even portrayed in Spectacular Spider-Man animated series too
Sony only did two of these movies because the deal was struck to have Tom Holland bring SpiderMan into the MCU before the third Amazing Spider Man was really into production.
“He’s about to be Peter Parkour.” Nice! Lol
1:00:11 this sequence is so New York City. The city coming together in times of crisis ❤
I’ve noticed that when the spider men get bit by the spiders, they never go to the emergency room. Do they not posses health insurance?🤷♀️😅
Rampage what a game
Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. October! 🕷 Marc Webb directed this one. ෴ Happy 2024 and beyond to you and yours. 🥂
Andrew Garfield is my favorite Spiderman!
Gosh the next movie is probably the 2nd best live action spiderman movie. I'm stoked for yall.
"No Way Home" is why you HAVE to watch these ones! Cant wait! Also..the X-men series as well i'll be waiting for haha
Andrew Garfield is the best Spiderman EVER!
Can’t wait for ya’ll to watch the 2nd one 🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction y'all 😊🎉
Rampage is the game you’re thinking about. It’s not just a lizard but other animals. The Rock is in the movie that came out a few years ago
So only reason why 2 films sony did a contract with marvel andrew was supposed to be in civil war but marvel went behind sony back and recast tom and got rid of andrew
Yup that was the reason
In the comics Gwen's the OG Girlfriend she gets killed by green goblin then MJ is the second one afterwards since then in the comics films the story changes so in some like the Tobey film for instance there was no Gwen at the start it was MJ and Peter. In these films there is no MJ but there's Gwen basically there are ALOT of Spider-Man stories in the comics, films etc. Spider-Man is not one straight story
There was MJ in second part i saw some deleted pictures they cut it maybe because of the chemistry between
Gwen and peter and they didn't want to be overshadowed
Rampage is the name of the game you were thinking of. There is a movie based on it with Dwayne the Rock Johnson in it if you need a random movie to react to.
Note Dr Conner's mentions MRNA genetics way back in 2012.
I mean, MRNA research has been around since the early 70’s, and MRNA itself was discovered in the 60’s.
