I just wish the Ally had a slightly bigger screen. With some games the text is just a little too small, but it is at least very clear. I think 7.5-8” would be fantastic.

I use to want a bigger screen but now, I hope they stick with 7”, maybe 8” at max . I use XR glasses when I need a bigger screen and I’d rather not have too much weight on my hands and make it less portable.
@@d0minant24 Fair enough. I do love my Ally for its portability. However, they could still make the screen bigger without increasing the device size by making the bezels thinner.

It just really depends on the game. Say a Hi-Fi Rush with good calibration can pop even on an LCD. But play a Resident Evil 7 in dark areas and OLED obliterates anything else. As a fan of horror games, there’s no other type of panel I can tolerate.
You guys hit the nail on the head on this comparison. I upgraded from Deck OLED to Ally X and easily the 1080p VRR is a much more pleasant (and sharp) experience for me than the OLED non-VRR 800p of the Deck. Not even just for PC AAA games, but the way the Ally handles VRR on Switch emulation with all of it’s hiccups and stutters, it’s a much smoother experience playing on Ally than it was on Deck.
Haven't tried any emulation on my ALLY X yet but that's a really good point! VRR is a godsend and I really hope we see an OLED VRR in a couple years on an ALLY 2 for example!
💯 had a SD Oled myself and switched to Ally X. Yes OLED pops and wish Asus shrunk the bezels like Valve did, but the 1080p, VRR, performance, and ability to dualboot is solid to where I don’t regret the switch. I have a desktop PC as well so having the X feels like a true extension of my PC on the go.
The OLED screen is really good. Compared to your standard LCD there's competition. The Ally X is tempting for the extra performance, and amazing battery life. But $800 is steep. I'll most likely get one when it goes on sale.
The reason it’s 800 because it’s an actual PC which means you can do more with it. Not to mention Asus has to make a profit where as with the steamdeck valve is using it to make a profit off its OS using SteamOs
@@JudahiamKng $800 is still expensive for what it is. Which is why I'll wait. It's been pretty successful, Asus is most likely making a profit. The price will go down that's usually how it works for stuff like this. The white Ally used to cost more and it went down in price. Even the original Steam Deck LCD went down in price when they introduced OLED.
Back then everyone was Mad when we got an Switch Oled instead of a Pro, now Moving forward we got an Rog Ally thats kinda a Pro with better specs but People are mad that it has no Oled 😂😂
Cool video. I'm seeing this become a console war though. I know people want to defend their purchase, but dang, be happy with what you have. Some other handheld with be crowned king next year. It makes sense that a new and more expensive device is going to perform better. Personally, I have the Steam Deck Oled and don't feel the need to upgrade yet. I bought it to compliment my pc and serves that purpose very well :)
It’s refreshing to see an honest Deck user. Most Deck users are in denial and bash every new handheld that comes out, making their community seem very toxic. What you said is true, and this is the first time I’ve agreed with a comment from a Deck user
@@nathanjuan6042 I agree with you. Getting upset about a new handheld being better is a waste of energy. We all benefit from it. Now we’ll likely see a cool update to the LeGo. And maybe the Steam Deck later too. Competition is healthy. All these consoles do roughly the same thing, but they all excel in different ways. I play mostly indies and strategy games, so an easier to use, less expensive, and oled device with trackpads makes a lot of sense for me. But the steam deck oled won’t make sense for someone trying to max out their fps. Different strokes for different folks.
I do prefer OLED. I have a Samsung G8 OLED for my main rig and a lg C1 for a TV. OLED is pretty amazing but honestly not having OLED on the ally x doesn't really bother me. Its a nice screen and for a handheld its just fine.
Absolutely torn on which one to keep. The Steam Deck OLED is better for emulation due to the screen size. Old 4:3 games are tiny on the already small screen of the Ally. However AAA games play amazing on the Ally amd AFMF2 nealry doubles the frames in some games. Given that i have a 4090 PC i'm leaning towards the deck. Just an overall better emulation experience.
Thank you for finally covering what I've been talking about since I picked up the Ally! VRR is super important. I play a variety of games and many of them will fluctuate instead of being a constant fsp. I can't go back to screen tearing. The heck with OLED. Screen tearing aint worth it.
Thank you for being the first TH-camr to answer this question and actually do a side-by-side comparison. Seeing the displays side by side, you realize the OLED isn't much better, thus making the ROG Ally the better handheld with no compromises.
I love “retina” pixel density and VRR but you could also argue that once you go OLED, it’s hard to go back. I think you are massively underplaying the OLED’s advantage in darker games or games with HDR. Come on, stating that an edge-lit IPS doesn’t induce a feeling “damn, I wish it was OLED” in such games once you have actually tasted OLED gaming is just ridiculous. Plus, there are already complaints about squeaking/stuck buttons on the Ally X and other QC issues. No trackpads, Windows on a handheld (great compatibility but crappy UX), no case included, higher price, I could go on… I think they are roughly on par - Ally as a “full fat PC replacement” and Deck as a user friendly “PC console” for couch or mobile gaming, complementing your gaming PC. BTW, watch the latest DF video on VRR. It’s super useful but please don’t mislead people telling them that 40 or 60 FPS (or 40-60 FPS fluctuations) with adaptive sync looks virtually the same, like you are trying to imply in your video. No, it does not, and VRR cannot magically fix it.

Hey 128KB team, your tech insights are always super helpful! With 2024 bringing us so many cool handheld options, I’m torn between the Steam Deck OLED and the regular ASUS ROG Ally. For your next video, it’d be awesome if you could do a deep dive comparison to see which one of both is more worthy in 2024. Your breakdowns always make these tough choices easier. Looking forward to your thoughts!
I have deck oled with huge ssd and love it. But I want ally x too but don’t u need to be a computer wiz to do all the updating n drivers for windows ? I heard that rog ally x isn’t made for controller or portrait n it’s always janky to get it right. Is all this true???
Yes OLED is very hard to leave once your eyes leave the display the colors pop so well, however when it comes to that VRR that’s where the deck loses me. Being able to play games at 100+ fps and the smoothness of the gameplay is hard to pass up
Great content guys. Have you experienced squeaky triggers on any of your units? I got mine on launch day but had been dealing with a squeaky RT. Now waiting for a new replacement. Love the Ally X but it appears to be fairly common issue and not acceptable at £799.
Thank you! Yeah I get you. No squeaky triggers on my personal unit, sometimes the spring can be heard but I don't notice unless the volume is off, I'll likely just reseat it myself! Hope your replacement comes soon!
@@128KB Unfortunately my RT spring was way more audible than that & I'm coming from console gaming so not quite plucked up the courage to open it up....yet (although your guide was great). Any chance of you doing some content on VRR docks?
yep mine had the squeeky trigger, i opened it up to install a new nvme so while i was at it i put a smidge of copper grease on the spring using a q-tip and gave it a press a few times and the squeek is gone... it seems to be extremely common and i agree not acceptable for the price.
People who whine about VRR and extra fps haven't experienced it. Once you've played 60+ fps going back to 30 is gross. If I'm paying £800 I'm looking for performance and tech that impacts actual gameplay, not a shiny OLED.
Owned a LCD Steam Deck and upgraded when the OLED came out. Love the system... In 2024 I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's looking to play anything more than small indie games. AAA games within the last year or so are struggling to keep a stable 30fps on the Deck. It's to the point where Deck players have to wait for benchmarks for any AAA game that comes out to see if it's actually playable. With the Ally X you don't have to do that for the next couple of years.
I returned my og ally for the steam deck oled and still regret that. I’m not really into indie games and all the AAA games I have struggle. I’ll be waiting for the next ally.
for my second handheld, I already have the switch oled, I'm trying to decide between getting the SD old and ROG Ally X, im totally okay with fiddling with settings and stuff. Any advice?
The OLED is great don't get me wrong. Wonderful for indie games and low end stuff. Ask it to do anything more modern and it works but its 720P 30FPS. Is that really what you want to be playing at in 2024?
That’s how I feel about the ally x screen compared to the legion go screen. I can’t unsee how small the screen is after using the legion go. I wish ally did at 8 inch screen it be perfect device.
This depends on what kind of games you play on your device. If you are mostly on 2d and lite 3d games or emulators like me, steam deck is way better and easier to use. Also, the oled panel is a great bonus for me in this situation. But for modern and heavy games, rog Ally x is better because of better hardware.
When you try oled you can not go back , so yes it is matter . I sold my rog ally x and my legion go to keep only the steam deck, cause for the same job the screen change everything
I dont care so much about OLED. I just know 16:10 aspect ratio is far superior to 16:9. OLED Screens only uses more power when it's combined with VRR. ASUS could have one, but not both. They valued VRR more than OLED so they stuck with LCD.
I was hoping they would point that out (at the beginning) when talking about power efficiency. OLED is generally better than LCD, when it comes to power consumption. The reason Asus chose the LCD screen over an OLED was purely because VRR OLEDs specifically don't work like they should.
@@DeathJerrie OLED panels consume more power overall. They are not more efficient. The only time OLED panels are more efficient is when showing dark colors and black
@@kaiichinose9590 Yeah. But I heard it can damage the sticks? Are you sure you can use it? I would love to buy that as I love TomToc. But they removed the compatiblity from their website. What you think?
It's not just LCD vs OLED, it's low contrast LCD vs OLED. A VA panel would be fine for most people, the best VA panels have ~5x the contrast of IPS. You're on a brightly lit set and I can still spot the OLED even in a daylight scene, it's just that much better. The difference in darker games under darker lighting is night and day.
@128KB Indeed, and it depends on your definition of "gaming". In my experience, it's more important to have a variety of refresh available to lock too than to have it variable, and SD Oled certainly has you covered there. In any case, you can't just pick and choose one aspect for "gamerz" who just want to play fortnight. Gamers who enjoy single player games and image quality do exist, and they're far better off with an OLED. I'm being charitable to LCD though, it's not that it couldn't be done properly with a VA panel. The industry is just set on IPS for outdated marketing reasons.
I like the ally, but I can't support Asus, which isn't a great company or gamer friendly anymore. The horror stories online as far as customer service and warrenty service is why I can't justify the price. You spend 800 and have to pray nothing fails because there's a low chance Asus will fix it without charging you an arm and a leg.
That’s what kept me from buying one. I think there are a lot of companies like Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, ETC but I’m glad they are being exposed for terrible customer support.
Being able to play at 60fps matters but OLED does not. A pretty good quality IPS display can come pretty close to OLED except for the blacks levels. ROG Ally display is pretty good quality and it's sound system is just on another level that I've never seen anywhere on any handheld. It's the perfect handheld and that's why even Steam is supporting it with Steam OS made for Ally.
Great points! I need to see both screens but you may have just chanhed my mind. What do you think about the fact that you can get an OLED deck for $550 but there is only a $800 model of the Ally X? Still feel like the Ally wins out? Im thinking about buying one but cant decide which.
Honestly it depends on what games you want to play on it. If you want the best performance and AAA games, then hands down the Ally X is the way to go. If you play more indie's or older games etc, then SD Oled is epic.
My Oled Deck as gone. Couldn't justify keeping it. Absolutely love the Ally X. Don't miss it. But would dual boot if steam os comes to the Ally X. Just to have the best of both. Won't be installing bazzite
I've got the steam deck oled and I love it for what it is, and having come from an oled switch it was a great leap. But I need more performance and frames. I want to play halo infinite at 60fps, destiny 2 at 60fps, cyberpunk at 60fps locked those are my three favourite games and are the ones that would swing me. I am thinking of getting an ally x because the vrr sounds like it would help in those kinds games but the legion go has a really big screen and I think it might just be powerful enough to lock the fps to 60 without vrr in most situations. I'm conflicted.
Most new big games only run at 30-50 fps on these handhelds. So VRR is better. If the games run with stable 45 or more then i would choose oled. The best would be an oled VRR screen. But to do nothing with the screen on the ally x was a wrong move. They should have made it a little bigger (less bezels) and a little brighter (600 nits). So we have a small upgrade with the screen at least. The iPad Pros are using a 600 nits ips display since 2017, so it should be possible in 2024.
The Ally can boot into Bazzite OS if you prefer Linux, and it will perform great. You can also switch back to Windows when a game doesn’t work on Linux. In contrast, the Deck is really only optimized for Steam OS because its processor is custom-made for it, which is why it performs worse when booted into Windows. Additionally, Steam OS will eventually come to the Ally, making it the most flexible handheld with support for three operating systems. Plus, it offers better performance, a superior screen, longer battery life, and better speakers, along with VRR support that eliminates stutters when a game fluctuates below 60fps.
Not really. The Deck isn't more optimized in anything. Games don't run better on the Deck anyways and no PC game is specifically optimized for the Deck. Any game that is optimized to run on the deck well will also see those improvements on any other PC
I do love my steam deck. But I’ll be honest I can’t play a lot of old-school games. I love splinter cell and it can’t play splinter cell. Therefore I’ll just have to settle for the rogue ally X! I put 9.5 TB in my Ally X can’t do that with the steam deck!
@@glennpenzone145 because if I wanna play games like splinter cell which I happen to love. The steam deck does not allow Ubisoft sign in and if it does, it always crashes on the steamdeck.
If I want to play AAA games, I use my pc to get the best graphic experience. Handheld gaming for me is for indie games as you guys mentioned. I will sell my OLED Steam deck once Nintendo officially announce the release of their new console.
Asus Ally X still uses a 7 inch 16 by 9 LCD. Asus should have used a 8 inch OLED without VRR. That could have been a selling point for next year model. I made the decision to return my Asus ally x. It isn’t a steam deck plug and play. Mouse and keyboard is just needed. Touchscreen doesn’t always work when using the ally x so I can’t bring up the virtual keyboard. I have to restart the device. It’s been a frustrating situation. A gaming laptop makes sense for windows 11. Not a handheld.
the ally x's battery is not more efficient than the deck, it just has more raw battery capacity, thats capacity not efficiency, if they had equal watt hours the deck wins because it is more efficient, beating the lcd deck by quite a bit in some cases.
Oled screen had better colours and lights than LCD vRR actually ally x should had oled after 800+ price nobody care about most running all AAA games like laptop 💻 with 5000$
Then you'll be waiting a long time. There are specific limitations with how OLED panels work and getting them to work on a screen that is within the handheld form factor
Yeah couldn't imagine dropping superior OLED tech for a much smaller LCD display (16:19 vs 10), regardless of VRR advantages. 90Hz OLED has superior G2G response over 120Hz LCD smear fest (in comparison). VRR is nice but not worth losing the OLED advantage for. Once Asus figures out VRR + OLED along with Zen5/RNDA3.5 I'll buy. A nice 15% performance per watt boost over the Ally X would allow for a smaller battery or bigger screen leading to more comfortable device to game on. The weight on these portal PC handhelds have to come down to under 500g.
Of course the oled screen is better, there is no doubt. That's the reason why we have oled tv's! Also the steam deck screen is slightly bigger than the screen of the rog ally. VRR is overrated. I would prefer the oled screen cause it looks much better. No wonder also iPhones and good VR Headsets have oled screens.
Iphones don't need VRR because its not meant for gaming and mobile games is not on par on PC games. OLED doesn't do anything on gaming VRR is which eliminates stutters when your framerate fluctuates below 60fps. Just like what they said you won't see the difference until you've played with both device side by side.
@@nathanjuan6042 That's not true... Oled makes a great picture with a perfect black and much better colours. So the screen quality is important for gaming and so is oled.

LCD panels are just cheaper and have been around for significantly longer as well as coming in at many more price points. I can't agree. It's about on par. It's a nice panel but the LCD is no slouch. When it comes to most games the colors aren't that different since both panels are very accurate and most games don't have wide color gamuts unless they use HDR. The slightly bigger screen is just in the vertical area otherwise it's not that noticeable. VRR is also much better than you're making it out. It does help a lot when it comes to smoothing out slight frame drops

I love how OLEDs look but with my experience with the Switch OLED, I'd rather not have it. I think I might be one of the unlucky ones in the world who have eyes that are super sensitive to PWM and can't look at these things for more than 5 minutes without feeling strain.
I've definitely heard of people that struggle with OLED panels, I've not looked into why but it's definitely interesting. Sorry to hear it affects you!

Asus OLED Nebula displays don’t use PWM and have VRR. I think we will see it in the next system. Only issues is that the Nebula displays use more power which has something to do with running VRR on OLED.

Totally get you, appreciate the love, SD OLED is an absolute dream unit really and playing AAA at 30FPS is fine for me on most games. With Frame Generation becoming more of a thing, like in Ghost of Tsushima, SD OLED will be able to keep playing newer titles for sure! I'm hoping Lossless Scaling app gets a Linux version to help with that soon. Gaming laptops are considerably more powerful and less portable while being better suited for more general use.
That's not an upgrade , that's a downgrade lol . 7 inch micro screen .
Would VRR fix remote play streaming stutters ?
@@harissonbond7499 no it wouldn't.
Playing Geforce now on steam deck OLED is just incredible.
Simply put if you can afford it and want the best handheld right now buy ally x if your happy for some compromises get the SD and be happy with either
Hilarious how one guy profusely agrees with the other while one is talking 😂😂
I think the Oled smells better
Does VRR matter if you lock 40 or 30 fps anyway???
Yes, you can configure to VRR to a range between 28 and 42 Hz for example, this will not show any hiccups during gameplay, if it has any.
Thank you for being the first TH-camr to answer this question and actually do a side-by-side comparison. Seeing the displays side by side, you realize the OLED isn't much better, thus making the ROG Ally the better handheld with no compromises.
ROG used LCD so they can release an oled in 6 months
ROG Ally X Pro MAX
No VRR is a no for me. Eurogamer/IGN is a huge promoter of the Steam Deck and the Ps5, no surprise suddenly VRR is "not as good as people think".
$800 for Asus Rog X? A midrange gaming laptop are from $950 to $1300! The GIGABYTE G6 (2024) is $950 at Best buy and Amazon! The Steamdeck Oled is still the best handheld, the Steamdeck can play more games NOT just indie games!

VRR is a game changer. OLED steam deck is good for casual who don't care about performance or gameplay smoothness. Ally x is good for actual gamers
Love my ally x. Didn't get on with my legion go as well. Too big and too clunky.
Once you get a taste of OLED HDR gaming, there is no going back.
That’s kinda true and kinda not when it comes to VRR. Gaming at higher frames makes games much enjoyable
Not really. I can still go back to LCDs but pretty much all of them are fairly high quality LCD panels

Yes there is. Screen tearing is the worst. The Ally's LCD screen is definatley good enough.
@@christycho9871 Asus really missed the opportunity to use an oled screen for the ally x. It would have been near perfect with vrr, oled screen, hdr, 120hz, 1080p and 80wh battery.

As a steam deck fanboy, I have to admit they did a good job with the X. I would get it over the deck, if not for that crime against humanity which is Windows… Great hardware

I have a squeaky RT. I didn’t trade mine in though or return it. It’s not that audible to hear it unless I put my ear next to the trigger.
Tofu dreg.
I think one thing no one talks about is the high letency with vrr enabled. So sure your games look smoother, but the input lag is worse
I have the Lenovo legion go and it looks absolutely gorgeous it’s like play on 1440p hi refresh rate monitor. Idk why no one talks about it more
People who whine about VRR and extra fps haven't experienced it.
I wish ally did at 8 inch screen it be perfect device.
yeah 8" would be epic on the Ally X
I will get through the video but before I forget… what case are you using for the ROG??
How do you store your Rog Ally X? Do you have an advice on a Travel/Storage Case?
I got the Tom toc carry case they make for the og ally for my Ally x and it still fits perfect and even still with a case on it from Amazon.
@@kaiichinose9590 Yeah. But I heard it can damage the sticks? Are you sure you can use it? I would love to buy that as I love TomToc. But they removed the compatiblity from their website. What you think?
Just got the Ally X premium hard case by Asus, definitely worth the £35
for me I would prefer VRR over OLED 100% times. OLED is not bad but not the best thing. is just a good value thing.
We're actually comparing VRR technology VS OLED and what's more important when gaming, not just LCD VS OLED.
@128KB
Indeed, and it depends on your definition of "gaming".
I love my Ally X. Wish it had OLED, sure, but the screen is great enough that does not bother me at all.
VRR all day though.
I heard the screen looks hella small n hard to read text. Is this true?
If you play more indie's or older games etc, then SD Oled is epic.
iam still waiting for my x and onexgpu to arrive but i had oled deck before hopefully its just as comfy
Say if I want this for some AAA games and emulators which one would be the best? The base models for both are on sale right now for $399??
Ally X is better
100% rog ally. You get up to 50 % more power for the same price and the VRR screen.
My Oled Deck as gone. Couldn't justify keeping it. Absolutely love the Ally X. Don't miss it. But would dual boot if steam os comes to the Ally X. Just to have the best of both. Won't be installing bazzite
what means VRA ??
I'd like to hear your take on legion go vs rog ally especially the display. You have both covered well the display for SD OLED vs VRR on the rog ally
I much prefer the Ally's screen for VRR and the fact that it's 1080p. 1080p looks much sharper than running at 1920x1200 on the Legion Go's screen
Very simple. Rog Ally has VRR and legion go has no VRR. So the rog ally is better.
The price is what really matter.
If PS5 Pro at 700 is too expensive, this thing at 800 quid... impossible.
OLED is insanely amazing!
Steam deck is better in terms of optimisation
Better optimized deck still doesn’t make it outperform the x though
@@Mmmmmk247 it is a Better User Experience and Better support Lol And Asus Suck ass as A Company
@@nathanjuan6042 yes but for people that don't like constantly tweaking windows and updating the deck is much better so for me the win goes to deck
Why can’t you play old games on the oled? I’m debating on the Steam Deck oled or ally x. Purchasing this week I hope if I can come to a decision.
@@glennpenzone145 because if I wanna play games like splinter cell which I happen to love. The steam deck does not allow Ubisoft sign in and if it does, it always crashes on the steamdeck.
Love these talks. Thanks for doing this short episodes guys!
Got the Ally X coming in a few days and I'm quite excited
Vrr makes 45fps feel like 90fps. Can't play cyberpunk at mid without it
If I want to play AAA games, I use my pc to get the best graphic experience.
Nobody wants to lose vrr
the ally x's battery is not more efficient than the deck, it just has more raw battery capacity, thats capacity not efficiency, if they had equal watt hours the deck wins because it is more efficient, beating the lcd deck by quite a bit in some cases.
Is Ally x a pc or toy beasd off gba
i bough oled because i hate lcd screens
Funny thing is, the Ally x is far newer than the Steam Deck and is still far less popular.
A OLED VRR Display doesn’t exist on the market yet
Not at that size. There are OLED TVs and monitors that support VRR through a very specific method
Oled screen had better colours and lights than LCD vRR actually ally x should had oled after 800+ price nobody care about most running all AAA games like laptop 💻 with 5000$
Hmmm to buy or not to buy 😆
I wont buy a handheld gaming computer until I can get VRR and OLED in one unit.
Then you'll be waiting a long time. There are specific limitations with how OLED panels work and getting them to work on a screen that is within the handheld form factor
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yep. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yep.
Once you go OLED you can’t go back
You can though
Steam deck cannot run fling trainer, that’s enough reason to get ally x.
Yes!
@@zzzzzap 800p on the 7.4 inch screen ruins the image quality much more than oled vs lcd.

You two are obviously Steam Deck riders too, and you two are just reaching to try to say the Deck is better than the Ally and is trying to avoid giving Ally X its' points. You also try to talk like the Ally can't do everything the Steam Deck can do. If you're going to say something does something better than explain why it does it better.

ALLY X definitely has more power, a good 20FPS more on demanding stuff but as you said is almost double the price of the SD OLED so it is aimed at those wanting the most from it!
@@mr_omega_007I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for a Deck 2. Valve just confirmed they are working on distributing SteamOS to the Ally. I can clearly see the difference just by watching them side by side. Ally is clearly sharper and crisper image if you can't see or notice it then I don't know what eyes you have. And just so you know its 7 inch not 6 inch.
Wow your comment instantly confirms that you have no knowledge in PC handhelds. The rog ally has 7" and not 6.
Hell yeah, love watching your videos on ally x, best content creator out there !!!
$800 for Asus Rog X? A midrange gaming laptop are from $950 to $1300! The GIGABYTE G6 (2024) is $950 at Best buy and Amazon! The Steamdeck Oled is still the best handheld is the best, the Steamdeck can play more games NOT just indie games!
No it isn't. Also handhelds are separate form gaming laptops. If you're in the market for a gaming laptop you wouldn't be looking at either the Deck OLED or the Ally X. Gaming laptops are considerably more powerful and less portable while being better suited for more general use. Also the Ally X can play more games than the Deck OLED even if we don't consider the incompatible games on Linux.
No one ever said the Deck OLED can only play indie games and Steam statistics show that every time they show off what are the most popular games on Steam Deck
You can get the rog ally z1 extreme for 500 $. I wouldn't recomend the ally x, only if money is not a problem and you want the best ally version right now. So i think the base ally z1 extreme is the best handheld right now. You get up to 50 % more fps for the same price as the 512 gb steamdeck.
