@@John-e4u Should be fine. I used it in my 2002 Honda Shadow 750 (cruiser style bike, v-twin engine, 7500RPM redline) and it worked great with the engine/transmission and clutch. No issues shifting or anything.
But that was years ago. I think you want your oil to have the JASO spec? It's required for wet clutch set ups. I'd make sure it's still carrying that spec. There's also T6 15W-40. For whatever reason, the T6 15W-40 has more "specs" passed than the 5W-40, but the 5W-40 has certain specs that mean it would also pass the ones they didn't pay to have tested.
I just "prefer" the T6 5W-40 over the T6 15W-40, but really, the cold start difference isn't as much as you'd think. Lemme rephrase that. The viscosity at 40C isn't that different. 40C isn't cold by any means, though. So, I'm sure the 5W-40 is much better when it's 30F and below than the 15W-40.

The heavier W40 weight is better for turbos, older cars high mileage, and diesels. And diesel oils have way more cleanser additives than any gas engine oil including amsoil, lucas, pennzoil platinum which cost a lot.
For my vw tdi a bulletin was put out long ago to stop using 5w30 as was causing wear and broken camshafts . So I switched to T6 5w40, then started using it too in my old Yukon xl 5.3L with high miles to stay off the dreaded bad lifters and to clean carbon build up of an old engine.

I know lots of people that use it in the pick up trucks to stop or help out with lifter tick.

    I drive a 07 Volkswagen Jetta GLI 2.0T (FSI/GDI) that has 290K
I have exclusively ran Castrol Edge Euro oil 5w 40 since I replaced the engine with a yard motor at about 140K miles.
I recently changed to Rotella after considering the temps and pressures diesels run at, as well as the detergent capabilities of diesel oil.
So far I am extremely impressed with ZERO oil loss over 1500 miles. Normal and acceptable oil consumption on the FI engines is 1 liter per 1,000km

The main problem with your scenario is it is common knowledge that diesel oils are less heat tolerant than gas blends and they have much lower film strength as well. You need to come up with some better talking points.

Use it in my 86 F-150 5.0 EFI and my Husqavarna Z254 with the 23HP Kawasaki. I use it in anything I can. T6 5W-40 is an exceptional oil. It rejuvenated the seals in my 86 F-150, slowed consumption from a quart every 800 miles to maybe half a quart every 2000 miles if that? That's after 8 years of using it in it. It just got better an better. No leaks where I park anymore.
Has high zinc/phosphorous which I wanted for my engine since it has a flat tappet cam. Sure, it's a super mild/stock flat tappet cam, but it's STILL a flat tappet cam. I've ran this truck HARD. I've towed and hauled thousands of pounds at a time. I've done loads of 4x4 off road mudding. I've been WOT thousands of times in it lmao.
Sure it's got the NP435 4-speed with low/NP208 transfer case/9" rear end/Dana 44 IFS and I've got 31x10.50 15" Goodyear Wrangler Authorities on it. So it's not like I'm out here spinning 35"+ tires, but still, this truck has every bulletproof thing you can put in an F-150 from those times. It's an F-150 XLT Lariat single cab short wheel base... so it just goes anywhere offroad. Do I wish I had a 351w? No, but only because I like the 80-86 body and the 351w didn't go EFI until 88, so I actually make more power than a 1986 351w. Torque and usable torque are probably a different story.
But ya gotta love that simple SD computer and the reliable EFI. It starts if it's 100F or -10F. I've NEVER had an issue out of this truck. NEVER. 160k miles. I did change the timing gears/chain to a steel set up so I've got another 200k+ left for sure. Is the 5.0 EFI powerful? Hell no. 185 horsepower/275 ft-lbs torque.
But it'll still pull anything. 6.69:1 first gear gets you rolling lol. And offroad, 4x4 low combined with 1st gear means you can just creep down steep hills at like .5mph without touching the brakes.
    I love the old thing.
Wait, this is about oil, not a truck.
    I'll see myself out.

Everyone has something new now lol. And we don't even have the salt on the road problem around here.

2010 Forester. I had the classic morning piston slap. After 18 months of using a HDEO the slap went away. I went back to a synthetic 5w-30 for years now and the slap hasn't returned. The only thing I can think is that the rings were getting sticky and the detergents freed them up.
