Blizzard has been lying about their content since World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. They have been sharing false or misleading information, been giving out statements in interviews that were fictitious or inaccurate, and otherwise deceiving their fans for over 8 years. They have been continuously retconning their stories, changing details in both subtle and major ways, all for the purpose of leaving every story open-ended so that they can continue to generate lackluster, featureless content that generates revenue instead of quality products.
They told us there would be player housing, there is not. They told us there would be massive PvP maps, there was not. They told us there would be destructible environments, there was not. They told us there would be co-op PvE zones where factions worked together, there was not - and this was all just the Cataclysm expansion. Then they made two books that literally retconned every bit of lore from the series prior to that expansion, including lore from the expansion that came right before the books were released, and they've kept up that legacy with every book and expansion ever since.
I've been talking about this for years now, and everyone has said that I was just a hater. I'm not a hater. I love Warcraft, I love the universe, I love some of the new ideas they've come up with. Azeroth being the egg of a Titan and the Titans being born from planets was a great idea; however, these ideas don't matter when every level of execution is terrible, every negative review is written off as hate, and every criticism is downplayed as user bias.
You people need to face the facts - Blizzard died almost a decade ago. Overwatch during its first year was Blizzard's last hurrah. The company is simply Activision now. If we don't stop spending money on their products, we're just going to inspire them to keep gouging out these stories and games and communities that didn't just give us great memories, but actually grew alongside us as we contributed to their development. The ride is over. Time to get off.

I agree with most of your sentiment but I honestly respect the team behind Overwatch. They generally have communicated with their fans/players well and give u consistent updates on changes or updates.

The best part is due to them being greedy and wanting full ownership of your maps, that means old favorite maps based off other IPs are now banned since due to that ToS, Blizzard owns the map and thus they would be liable for lawsuit due to it.
probably they don't want to repeat what happened to Dota. The mod and map got bigger than Warcraft 3 and they cannot even claim it.

The best part is they could of made it so someone could still have credit for it even if its owned by blizzard, but they went the next step and REMOVED all rights you have to anything you created and they can take all credit for it which is incredibly messed up.

We have consumer rights in Europe. Replacing a product with a newer version and simultaneously closing down the previous one, forever, making it inaccessible to all the players owning a license of that product already - Strides against consumer laws. Forcing users to upgrade from a working product to a dysfunctional one, and removing access to a product you own, isn't legal.
They're not allowed to remove your products or to force you to upgrade to access what you already owned.
I say everyone who bought this, should file a complaint to their governmental consumer rights department so a proper class action law suit can be filed, on a governmental level, not a public peoples level cos that won't be enough.
Also Kotick needs to be hanged from a lamp post for his paedophilia and association with some of the worst scum of this earth, a category he fits very well into.

I can't install the old WC3 anymore, I need to upgrade to install the new game instead. Meaning, to play WC3, I have to spend more money on another license on a product I already own.

@@saltau3734 Well it's still somewhat of a good indicator because every game can be equally review bombed and every game can be reviewed by people who haven't played it. If every game is playing on the same field, then the extreme scores are still indicative of serious problems.
@@adad87821 Anthem for all it's faults had some good aspect, flying for example was well done, graphically it looks pretty good. Maybe that isn't much, but it is a lot more then the shit show that is reforged.
@@hamiltonianmarkovchainmc Truly bad games don't get review bombed because they don't have millions of fans waiting with bated breath lol. This might be crap compared to what was promised but it undoubtedly far better than most other games (especially if they ever fixed the crashes, which I have to assume they would have by now because it's blizzard...). Realistically starcraft remastered did almost the exact same thing as warcraft 3 reforged, for a similarly beloved game, and it has a score of 7.9. The only differences are that more was promised, and reforged of course costed a bit more.
So yeah I don't think that what blizzard did, shipping it with a huge amount of bugs and cutting half the things that were promised, was okay. But the idea that its metacritic score is at all relevant to the actual quality of the game is pretty fucking laughable for obvious reasons. They could have literally released warcraft 3 with no upgrades at all and it would have been better than the vast, vast majority of games out there. Of course its also reasonable to downgrade the rating of a game a bit if the marketing is misleading I think, which is clearly the case here, but... it's not literally the worst game of all time, which is what the metacritic score suggests, or even close to that.

Also, actual modding and custom games are not the same thing I think and there are 16 years worth of mods for the original Warcraft III and you could buy the disc version so you are not affected by any of their new updates and avoid agreeing to their new ownership rules

@@PbPomper Pre ordering is for physical copies only. There is absolutely no point in preordering a digital copy (which is what most do nowadays) since they will never run of of copies. It's just a file that you download. But even still. Pre ordering is idiotic now. Especially after how game companies have been acting lately.

My experience with this game:
- Got drunk.
- Came home.
- Realized the game was out.
- Bought it.
- Played 3 campaign missions.
- Wondered whether I was playing the new game or mistakenly had launched the original version.
- Exited.
- Realized I was indeed playing reforged.
- Asked for a refund.
- Booted up WIII.
All in the span of 2 hours lol

Warcraft was the second rts I had played as a 12 year old. And the story was stuck to me... Thrall and his horde.. arthas and the lich King. The night elves. The scourge.
Not just the story but the custom games also made me love the game overall...
Countless hours spent on playing DOTA. Shouting to the seatmates I had while in a lan game.
Warcraft... Just the word alone evokes the way back when memories I had.

I got my refund even after playing. I had to write to support and explain everything and I only had 2 hours of gameplay logged. I sent an email to support claiming I felt lied to and betrayed based on what was promised and what the final product was. I laid out everything that they didn't do with evidence that they claimed they would. No new UI, No cut scenes like what was shown, buggy and crashing on what used to be a solid performing game, no old classic custom games that I used to love, reused voice lines, Delayed-release on what was promised. I just thought this might help others that try to get a refund and are denied based on playing that game.

I saw blizzard doing this all the way back in Cata. I’m either some super evolved psychic being or most others just don’t know how to pay attention to what others do or say.
I’m pretty sure it’s the later.
There are game developers that would only get $60 every two years from a single person. Two years used to be the average on how long it took for a developer to put out a sequel. Blizzard gets $60 from a "dedicated fan" every four months. If a full game still costs $60, that is like people paying for a full game from Blizzard every four months. This is 6x's the amount a game developer should be getting, and they aren't even putting in half the amount of work other developers need to put in. To think, all of that money, they still can't find the workers needed to put out a halfway decent "remastered" game.

I only preorder to companies I trust like square enix. Preorder items be THICC and you can only get them once. If you're smart enough, you'd preorder a physic copy of a game if optional and return it if you don't like it at your local retail store.

As someone who went into game design because of blizzard and their early games its like your role model getting shot on stage and all the power that drives someone to be as good if not better than their role models getting wiped away. I had clear hopes of one day working for this company. I always question why I'm no longer nearly excited to work in the field and this has always been one of my biggest reasons why.

I can hear a distant voice in my head, TotalBiscuit's voice, and I like to imagine how he would tear this apart. Also, don't pre-order. It's nice if you get something from it, but that's what they do, pre-order bonuses to lure you in.
Once a company lets you down and you have pre-ordered said game, never pre-order from them again (Bethesda, Blizzard, EA = never pre-order)

I still remember those custom games: life of a peon, tower defense games, footman wars, Europe Risk, DOTA, and LOTR spin offs... it was amazing. Making custom games myself was a fun hobby and it was awesome to share games with others. RIP Warcraft III

I'm still dumbfounded as why people still pre-order standard games before the reviews come out. Unless their is a really good bonus for it, like for Doom Eternal . Really tempted on pre-ordering it just to get Doom 64 but I don't know. Last game I pre-ordered was GTA 5 for the 360 and hated it to the very core.
