I thank Blizzard and Warcraft 3 Reforged, from the bottom of my heart, for getting me back into the RTS genre. If it wasn't for them, I would not be currently enjoying such an amazing modern version of a game I loved as a child. I don't at all regret my purchase for Age of Empires II Definitive Edition.

I highly recommend you try Supreme Commander. It holds up, and there is an active fan run match making service.
Also if you want to go a bit more off the beaten path, check out AI War. It's a 4X Rogue Like TD, and wow does it do a good job blending those genres.

all the "no changes" WoW classic fans made the fat cat CEOs at -Blizzard- Activision see that people would eat old shit without even a fresh coat of paint, so it makes sense they would try to resell Warcraft III the same way. Its not for "Nostalgia", its for a quick easy buck with minimal work.
@@blazzzeboy You know people where happy to play Classic with no changes because it was advertised as and for the most part released as close to the OG WoW as you can get. When you advertise a game as a remaster and then literally demaster it instead, then tell the player base to fix it themselves but claim that anything the player base creates is your property well you get Warcraft 3. Could you imagine if someone sold the license for audio software you purchase said software and then proceed to create a unique song that takes off with it then the company that sold you the software tried to claim that work as theirs? I don't even think that would be legal but Isn't Warcraft 3 the same concept? you are paying for a license of Warcraft 3 which includes the map editor and they get to claim any work you do in that editor? fuck off blizzard.
I'm also aware that Blizzard would try to claim there actions as legal since you signed their UELA to be able to play but i was under the impression that any part of a UELA that breaks the law won't be upheld in court. Not that i would waste my time trying to fight blizzard in court to design content for this shit demaster. Not sure i would find designing content for this dungheel worth the effort even without the clause that let's Blizzard claim ownership for other people's work.

... you're forgetting about the Malaysian contractors they outsourced the CGI work to, because Blizz themselves couldn't be bothered. So there's at least 5 of them.
@@Cimlite The Malayian contractors were the only ones who did a decent job. Saw their Q&A on Reddit. They were told exactly what art assets to draw and what style to draw it in, and they did their job with a good amount of polish. They didn't get to test their models in-game and had no idea top-down view was a thing (which is what a lot of ppl complained about).

Jokes aside, i honestly think that they released it ONLY to "update" EULA. They still butthurt over Dota's success and they want to snatch any future mod. But because law doesn't work like that, they couldn't just change EULA for w3, so they released a "new" game, merged old W3 and remaster and boom, if you want to submit a mod, it's already owned by blizzard.. Which is really stretching the law of intelectual property, since it CANNOT be snatched by blizzard like that.

This is the new norm for the gaming industry. They pump out crap games and then promise they will fix it, one year later and we are still waiting on big fixes and content that was promised.
We need consumer protection rights like EVERY OTHER industry. The gaming industry is just so new that regulation hasn't caught up. This is getting so old, it's getting worse by the month. There needs to be accountability, and that's why regulation on these abhorant corporate practices is essential. If it weren't for any sort of regulation, we'd still have child labor and 16 hour work days being paid cents on the dollar. So I'm sick of people telling me they dont want government involvement. This is false advertising and should be considered illegal.

@@aaronferrel2219 I'm kinda happy im old enough to have seen the pre patch era of gaming. Companies had to put out quality or they would bellyflop. No such thing as "we`ll fix it in a patch" or cut features to sell it as DLC the next month. You'd see full games, with awesome expansion packs... Problem with big companies now is that they have some many people buying their crap,people who are easy to please, that they can afford to just act like nothing is happening to the thousands of people that are unhappy

Around 2003-2005 I was attending monthly IGDA - Orange County chapter meetings. SQA personnel from Blizzard in Irvine, Ca. would often attend the meetings (unofficially.) They were the only arrogant people at these meetings and acted with a sense of entitlement.

I never bought Reforged, but the forced update has left me unable to even play Classic since this thing dropped.
So a game I don't even own has taken away access to a game I do own.

Patch 1.31 was vanilla WC3 with widescreen support.
Patch 1.32 is an abomination that devoured original game.

In most of europe on the other hand, even if the EULA _says_ you give up your right to refund or XYZ thing, it isn't valid, because you cannot sign your legal rights away.

EA has a long road ahead, good start if they are in fact bringing in other people to make good calls for them.

And that's not even talking about all the little fuck-ups, bugs that have not been fixed albeit being known for quite a while and special treats like last years advertisement flags in stadiums. And, most importantly: Probably the biggest travesty that gaming has to offer, Ultimate Team card packs. None of these companies are making EA look consumer-friendly, in contrary, that sentiment only shows that the consumers memories do not even stretch back as far as to the games released half a year ago.

One of the selling points was that you could switch between the old and new (updated) campaign, which renders the argument entirely null and void. If people wanted to play the original game, it was supposed to have been literally built into Reforged alongside the update.

There is a solution if you want to play the old game untouched, just pirate it, it won't update automatically, all the player made stuff won't be there but you can at least play the campaign like in the old game

They don't have anything to worry about since their fans will continue to purchase literally anything that they vomit out, for full price+subscription, and they'll do it with a smile on their faces.
I learned my lesson as late as Diablo 3's diastrous launch not to purchase anything with Blizzard's logo on it (as well as Activision and EA, but those are different games), and every single year I can see that I absolutely did not make the wrong decision. Overwatch was an utter mess and from what I hear it's been sterilized to the point that the entire competitive community wants nothing to do with it. WoW has been pathetic every single expac after Cataclysm. Every one of their other little dumb projects were rapidly abandoned after they figured they weren't making WoW bux, and now comes WC3 reforged that was so bad it damaged my legitimate copy of WC3 I bought more than a decade ago. And now people are lining up in the M I L L I O N S to spend $60+tax for Diablo 4, they will buy any and all DLC that will release for the game, they'll overlook ever bug, glitch, error, removed feature, absence of content, etc, and STILL treat it like gold because they saw a flashy CGI video at Blizzcon. And this is completely ignoring the annual hundreds of millions that WoW subs continue to pour into their pockets. Blizzard lost their way years ago, and it's really insane to see how many people seem to be incapable of divorcing themselves form this soulless corporate entity.

1. Both of them launched unfinished, broken and basically unplayable.
2. The companies who made them lied to us about what the games will be like, and are desperately trying to damage control.
3. The fan bases are now in disarray and no longer trust the companies after realizing money and good PR are all they care about.

DONT fix the game, DONT mod it, DONT "touch" it as literally, anything you do on your end that isn't strictly a loose parody of/tribute to an existing property will be subject to acquisition by Blizzard the second it gains traction.

Their only job is to not tank an already successful company with already great products. @@ilikecookies230 That's usually the case. The devs tend to get the worst of both worlds: They don't get to control the direction the game takes, they have to do as they're told by management. Then once the game ships according to the whims of the publishers, the devs then get blamed for how the game turned out, as if they can divine extra time to work on the game from the aether. Luckily, most people are blaming Acti-Blizzard's management rather than the devs in this case, which is good. Devs have it really rough between crunch times, perpetual misplaced blame, and so on. Management usually gets off way too easy, but this time they're on full blast at Acti-Blizzard.
Just gaming studios? Sir, open your eyes. I know this is kinda off topic but it's not just videogames. It's seeping into everywhere else. Start noticing and paying attention, you'll see the trend becoming more of a societal standard thing. You'll be scared how much you'll have to give up when you notice the trend, but it's NECESSARY.

@@mezzy7109 Diablo 3 ONLY showed promise during the Reaper of Souls expansion, which promptly died off when they moved a large portion of its staff to work on World of Warcraft: Legion. There has been huge staff layoffs since that expansion release.
Since then, during an interview (quin69) they have stated they will sticking to the same design principles as Diablo 3, while games like path of exile continue to evolve on a yearly basis.
How can you be actively looking forward to Diablo 4 with all this in mind?
I remember a time, not so long ago, when Blizzard was synonymous with greatness... not anymore. like in the past, when you saw that Blizzard logo, you knew it was something special... not anymore.

Not just that. When you wipe out the old to bring in the 'new' and dont allow them to go back to the original.
Kind of like those 'free' win 10 installs that wiped out your previous OS with unprompted and involuntary installs.

I think I know why they replaced the original with the reforged instead of adding reforged.
Looking at what game companies focus on lately... I think that reforged is easier monetizable through MTX. I bet that at some point, devious new MTX will enter the playing field. Now, no one can get away from it because Reforged is all there is left.
Didn't they "just" fire people in the community management segment? Didn't they hire new devs instead?
I was playing classic perfectly fine for 17 years. I had no intention to get reforged. So I had no expectations because they told me I would not be effected. How dare they tell me "I'm sorry you didn't get what you wanted" I DIDN'T WANT ANYTHING FROM THEM! I wanted to continue playing classic for another 17 years. At best the tinkering under the bonnet would allow the game to offer features already provided by 3rd party servers like netease to remove hackers, leavers, and bring players back to the legitimate game so that there are more opportunities to find a match. It makes me feel very sad.
On FollowGrubby s stream last night players getting 40-0 win streaks were asking to take on a pro just to get some challenge in to test their skill. But supposedly there is at least hidden MMR now.
You also can run classic on older hardware. When my GPU died I played it on Intel HD 4600 and it ran perfect in 1080p while newer 2D games could only run at 720p
@@stevenz755 yeh I move around for work and was happy to discover I could run old classic perfectly fine on a portable laptop. If I get a day off somewhere in the world I can boot up and play a game in 5 minutes anywhere. Now its having issues even booting up in the bloated overlay I didnt need.
That being said something not being discussed is the rage spilling out to pros. When I first played everyone spoke of Grubby and Moon as legends. Grubby went on to stream quietly on justintv, then twitch for years where no one but regular viewers tuned in on their weekend to reminisce and watch top teir gameplay of that game we all played in high school. People are attempting to review bomb these pros just because they are continuing to play a game they enjoyed streaming and continue to entertain the fans that may be disappointed but come to him because he is a posetive force to be around with all the hate. I think people should just give authentic lists of problems for them to fix. The sheer volume of them is enough to tell them they did a bad job. They may not show it but the dev team (not Activision blizzard shareholders) know exactly what condition the game is in. If anything all they cant do anything but keep their heads down and keep fixing it.
@@LrnecBuma Is that laptop off line? My computer connected to battlenet and they stole my copy and deleted all my maps and mods. I reinstalled the main game with the physical DVD-rom and downloaded a crack. Then installed the Frozen Throne with a second crack. I'm currently searching for a way to get the last few balance patches, then playing the campaign again, waiting for 3rd party community servers to appear. It's not piracy since I own the physical media, and I should have access to use it at all times. *(baring compatibility issues)
Classic was so much better looking than reforged.
In fact, with the new updates and forcing WCIII to launch from Blizzard's stupid launcher ruined compatibility of 3rd party LAN programs. Gameranger hasn't worked for WC3 for like half a year or more for me.
I remember the days when Blizzard wasn't owned by Activision. If the game wasn't ready, they pushed back the release until they had a quality product. Activision ruined blizzard.

No, I don't care if the trailers not exactly the same as the game and I don't care if the remastered cutscenes weren't as remastered as you wanted them to be. This wasn't supposed to be a new game from the start, and I'm sure lots of people that worked on it actually played War3 in their childhood, so they wanted to keep the game the same, just update it for the new generation.
That's enough for me and anyone old enough to have played war 3 while still a child back in the days. This is not warcraft 4 and if it looked like it you guys would be complaining anyways. It's a remake, very nicely done, that's all.
People need to learn from it. Do NOT pre order anything, Do NOT buy day 1. Stop rewarding this with your money or it will only get worse.

Square Enix also left original FF7 alone in case purist didn't like Remake... hell Square kept all the promises it made in Remake and FF7 Remake is one of the best games that came out recently!
