You are doing a great service to society by releasing such informational content for free. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Wow, thank you!
Tbh they do have incentive to do it. All of the fonts that are used in these eye-catching designs can often only be bought from them, so in the end they make money from the video
But this knowledge is free anyway.
@@liamjoubert7425 just because they have an incentive doesn't mean it's not really useful knowledge, you can apply the knowledge to typefaces you find on Google Fonts etc and the video doesn't push the purchase of their typefaces. The examples given were just examples, used to demonstrate certain points but as the video points out, there are 1000s of font variations depending on your use. It's not like a lot of sales driven content that's like HERE'S THE THINGS YOU MUST USE IF YOU DON'T WANNA LOOK 2012.
Clear, brief presentation of a whole semester of topics. Brilliant.
This free course is perfect for me. It is really straightforward and the lesson itself is easy-to-digest. Now I have a better understanding about typography which will be helpful in my designing career. Thank you so much!
As someone just starting out with graphic design, this is the best introductory tutorial I've come across so far. I'd never really given much thought about the importance of typeface and the structure of fonts when it comes to choosing the correct one for a particular purpose. One thing I've learned is if you don't notice the font style, then whoever selected it has done a good job. I don't mean it shouldn't be eye-catching, or draw attention to itself, it should just fit. If it doesn't, then there needs to be a good reason why that's the case. I've never really understood why I find certain typefaces pleasing and attractive, or noticed the subtle differences between them. Now I feel a bit more confident I can make better selection choices because I at least know there are a few certain conditions and characteristics I need to consider at a practical level.
Thank you so much for this, it's helped me a lot.
You're amazing and teaches well. And the way you teach, your voice makes me not to get bored listening to you. Awesome 👍
I'd have never guessed that a single video would teach me so much about a field I'm almost a complete newbie to. It's even better given that this is the first video I checked out on the topic. I saved so much time!
I'm extremely grateful. Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing, thank you. As a non-designer, that was extremely helpful. That little short history of typography was very insightful too. Let me playing around with some of these typefaces and fonts like a pro now 😊
Awesome Video! Love how simple you made typography appear. Honestly I was loosing my mind trying to understand what my collage was teaching me. So you saved me with this content. Wish I had more time to time stamp your entire video.

This video is super awesome, knowledgeable and useful to me. I spent years to study in design school but only fully understand typography today. Thanks!
This very helpful. definitely one of the best design course I've come across. Thank you
Thanks for providing this course free. I was reading a book to understand typography. However, it was a less intuitive and strenuous process. You made it easy by making this video.
Pure gold. Keep this video bookmarked
Hint I learned long long back from a pre-computer typesetter (that did dry transfer lettering, like Letraset). When kerning a header, put the text up-side down. It releases your brain from interpreting the letters and you see more easily where you need kerning.
To illustrate this, take out some book from your shelf with titles on their backs and turn them so the text is upside down. You will find that some have very bad kerning that you would not have spotted if having them in normal orientation :)
Thank you so much guys for making this course♥️

What program cam be used to create a font file without the use of a website? Let's say I already have the designs for my fonts, how do I convert them to font files without having to upload them on some website?
Yeah I had been mentioned in my story telling book, in second preparatory class, all you are ✅️ talking right now letter character how to make it and special purpose for special character of letter, we had been a book about 'LETTERASET' in this book, more than 200 style type face and fonts.

we should not use slab serifs and geometric sans serif for body texts ??
Thank you so much.
I have loved fonts for years. I even used to design fonts. I think that it goes back to the fact my grandfather was a German typesetter/printer (typography instead of fonts). One of my greatest joys in life was downloading then installing Helvetica. Was that illegal?
You gave a really wonderful and in-depth explanation of typefaces and fonts. It is the best that I have ever seen.
Can you tell me where to download Órchó GC font? Just kidding. I doubt that you can.
Subscribed.
What's it called if a letter or symbol is offset halfway or by an x-height?
ie, say you write a fraction where each the numerator and denominator are potentially cap-height, and there's another number or variable multiplied out front centered after the fraction.
Or you have a list of two items, a curly brace encompassing them both so it's twice a cap height, and there's words centered after the brace.
Perfect
I think you didn't mention about Ligatures.
But overall, it was a ten-out-of-ten for me. Short and concise, easy-to-understand and the most Important of all is that it covers 30% to 40% of the Typography Structures.
Count me in😊😍
What can I use for body text on graphics.... serif or sans serif?
