Is Juan Soto's Injury Scare Bad For His Cards?

  • Juan Soto recently missed three games against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to forarm tightness. Forearm tightness is the leading indicator to a hurt UCL which can be repaired through Tommy John surgery. This was extremely concerning for baseball card collectors and baseball fans as Soto is having the best year of his career so far. In this video we discuss Juan Soto's baseball cards, Tarik Skubal's baseball cards, and more recent baseball news.

    I'm not worried. He started at such a young age that he could miss an entire season recovering from Tommy John and he'd still be ahead of the curve. He is a generational talent.

    Judge and Yankees fan here. Just wanted to let Chris know that he made a diving catch (maybe a little more of a shoestring) in CF. He’s fine and not injured. I don’t really have too much concern about Soto but to be fair, he hasn’t hit a HR for a few games now. He is still getting hits and walks 2/3 of the time.

    I’m not worried about Soto at all. Hitting like 375 since coming back. After missing 3 games. He has played so many games already by his age so I wouldn’t be concerned even if he missed a season. Soto doesn’t seem to put the strain on his body the way he plays the game

    When The Iron Man Ripken retired we all knew there would never be another player who could play that long without a game off. But if modern players fart too many times during a game, and they are on the injured list. It won't be long before a "Hall of Fame" career will simply be a player who can play for 6 years without getting hurt.

    Bonds is a polarizing figure. As someone who lived in the bay for ten years, you can guess how I feel about him/it. I'm fine with him being left out of the HOF for now. I'll just keep accumulating. Just look at his OPS. That's obscene.

    I heard an argument the other day about Bonds that juicing or not in the last couple of seasons he was getting like walked like 4 out every 5 at bats and still put up the insane numbers that he did. Even if he was juicing which let's remember nobody ever produced a positive drug test only the rumor of the cream. The guy was/is an absolute beast with a great eye and for those who point to the fact he was bigger at the end he was also like 20 yrs older and every single one of use as we got older got fatter/bigger. You can't tell me he was that much bigger than Frank " The Tank" Thomas when he was with Oakland and nobody ever questioned him. I honestly think a lot of the hate for Bonds is because of his personality and his relationship or lack there of with the media.

    • @SpitballinCards
      @SpitballinCards  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Chris here - the Bonds hate is definitely personality related. He brought it on himself. Sure he was on stuff, but most of the all stars of the time probably were too.

    Everything is insane with the stats of Bonds but it ALWAYS goes back to the question of how many of those stats are inflated and by how much? Those 2 questions alone will never be answered due to their complexity. I hear 7 MVPs and I am not impressed at all knowing 4 of those are in his PED years, I read somewhere that 97-99% of players DECLINE once they hit their 30s...he "bucked the trend", got beefed up and went on a 4 MVP tear. His card values will never be close to those of Griffey or Frank Thomas IMO.

    • @SpitballinCards
      @SpitballinCards  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Chris here - for sure Binds bucked that trend and we all know why. But that was baseball at the time. It was all over the league. We’ll never know how many guys were using PED’s but it was a lot. The league was fine with it.
      Look at the MVP winners from that era: Gonzalez, Rodriguez, Caminiti, etc.
      and question for you - do you think there’s a guy in the HOF now who used???

    I think too much time in the weight room is ruining players careers. Randy Arozarena bulked up and is batting .170. Baseball is about being athletic, not bulk. Same goes with pitchers. Some of the best pitchers in the league have a 92 mph fastball. I would rather give Ranger Suarez $200 million than the next 100 mph TJ culprit.
