      Hi Shane, first time commenting but I'm really looking forward to your full review on the Galaxy Buds2 as your previous Buds reviews have all been in depth and very detailed compared to most reviewers out here who are more focused on promoting the Buds on its selling point. Thanks for the very detailed experience based reviews man, cheers!

    I enjoyed your review. I recently got the graphite 256Gb version of the S21 FE (only colour/size in stock) as a "cross-grade" from my Note9. It compares favourably in day to day use with somewhat better battery life. A couple of features I do miss from the Note9 are the high-speed wireless charging and the flashing led indicators for various notifications but overall it fits most of my needs and it was nearly half the price of my Note9.

  • @helene420

    I have the S21. I'm confused about the model numbers S21 FE, just looks a little smaller and costs less.
    I've been happy with the S21 but I'm never happy with the pictures. I don't know why, but my pics never look all that great which is disappointing. Selfies look distorted and awful. The other problem I'm having is the phone is much taller and thinner than the S7 which is what I had previously, and the way I have to hold it, I'm having problems with hand pain in the palm of my hand bc I have to hold my hand in a certain way to hold it. I use a popsocket, but never had issues before, it's more that the phone is awkward for my hand size. It's already sent me to the orthopedic surgeon to figure out what to do about it. Since most all new phoneshave this tall thin shape now, I don't know what to do about switching, but this phone cost a lot, wondering if I need to ditch it entirely.

    • @alfredoalejandro87
      @alfredoalejandro87 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to have the S21 Ultra (also tried the S21 Plus) but I switched to the iPhone 13 Pro as I like a bit of meat in my phones (I personally find it easier to hold when they are not too thin).
      I never had hand pains or any of those problems but thats maybe because I used a nice Spigen case which gives it more depth and also has nice grip. These phones are just getting way too slippery now.
      As for photos, have you made sure you turned off the optimizer? The phone uses a optimizer which alters the photo as to how it thinks it should look. You get a more natural picture if you turn it off. Also, about this distortion, what exactly do you mean by that? One of the biggest, if not, the biggest problem I had with my S21 Ultra was the over sharpening effect in almost all photos. If you look at the outline of things in the S21 line up you will see that photos have this halo effect which happens the photo is oversharpened. This became worse during shots in parks with a lot of plants/foliage. This is the main reason I couldn't keep the phone and switched to iPhone. I would rather have mild sharpening and less pop in the photos than all out sharpening and unnatural colours.
      I hope the S22 solves that as I would like to go back to Samsung.

    • @helene420
      @helene420 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alfredoalejandro87 Thanks for your thorough reply. I do not have the optimizer turned on, it's been off since I got the phone. I also have a Spigel case, they are a great value. The phones being so tall and thin, though, there isn't much I can do about that but try to hold my phone differently which is challenging. When I say distortion, I mean like one of those mirrors you look into at carnivals. My nose always looks huge and distorted and my head elongated, and I swear it accentuates every wrinkle that I have to make me look 10 years older than I normally look. Basically everything looks very course and sharp which is probably fine for pics of scenery, but not of people or even for my cat. My roommate has a Samsung but it's a cheaper phone and her pics are great. Even the pics of my cat look bad when hers look great. I am just really disappointed that the phone was so costly and the camera is not what I expected it to be. There are way too many settings on the camera making it difficult to set up.

    • @AutomotiveCNC
      @AutomotiveCNC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@helene420 , there are a few things to consider:
      1. Make sure that the Scene optimizer is really turned off during the day. It actually helps at night time photos, though . But sometimes you may prefer to use Night mode.
      2. Use the 64MP mode. You will find out that S21 makes one of the best quality, highly detailed photos while shooting at 64MP! They are considerably better than what iPhone 13 could do and during sunny days they even beat the photos of Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra! The 64MP photos of S21 are not as detailed at night time, because then it uses pixel binning to capture more light. Even so, the 64MP photos (9248 x 6936 pixels) are still about 10% better in detail and contrast than the regular 4:3 12MP photos (4032 x 3024 pixels). But if you shoot a lot of people and scenery in bright conditions, you definitely benefit from using the 64MP mode. The only downside is that they take several times more space per photo, and also come in 4:3 aspect ratio. You can downsample the 64MP photos to 16MP additionally (either with the phone's Gallery app, or via photo editing app from the Google store, or using a graphics program on your desktop PC) and they will still look very crisp and better than any other phone that does 12MP or 16MP photos. To convert the 4:3 64PM photos (9248 x 6936 pixels) to 16:9 aspect ratio, just crop the top and bottom to make them 9248 x 5202 pixels, which is equal to 48MP. Optionally, you can downsample the 9248 x 5202 photos to 4032 x 2268 pixels (this is the standard 19:6 mode of S21, which translates to 9MP).
      3. For the selfie camera, check if you use the narrow field of view or the wide one! There is also a setting in the camera app that lets you remember the last used field of view and it will remain that way the next time you start the camera app.
      4. Check if some "beauty" filters are active or not. This is what causes frustration for many people.
      Also, keep in mind that when you look at yourself in the mirror, you actually see your face from twice the distance at a different focal length, because the light comes from your face to the mirror's surface and then from the mirror to your eyes. This is why if you shoot your face from the same distance like your mirror, your face appears like a bubble. It simply uses a shorter focal length since there is no mirror. However, if you point the phone to shoot towards the mirror, your face will look on the photos exactly like what you see with your eyes. To make better looking selfies outside, you could use a selfie stick to keep the phone at longer distance. S21 has very nice 2x and 3x Portrait mode that you may find useful for that purpose.

      I think yes it's worth getting, because let's be honest, little better cameras and a new chip aren't a big differences, SD888 is still quite new and powerful. I will be getting S21FE soon 8+256 just so i can hold onto it for longer. They are pretty close, if not the same phones. I wish Samsung would use the FE name differently to offer ALL of the stuff that us techies want (headphone jack, micro sd card slot, IR blaster, accessories in box, etc). This instead feels like a direct competitor to the iPhone 13 but "Fan Edition" in the name probably is not going to convert any devoted iPhone users over to this phone.

    Is the S21 FE worth upgrading to from an s10e? I really like my s10e except it is just a little too small. My S10e is still going strong so far.

      I think that you can justify buying this phone, because it brings a bigger display, faster display and chipset and will also last longer than the s10e in terms of software updates. It also has a new look. I wil personally be getting buying this phone in the following week, but it is up to you tough.

    All phones released nowadays are good to great. This def good or better. Nothing that stands out but value if you get it at a sensible price. Bearing in mind the OP9Pro is around £560 now, which has arguably better specs, then around £500 rather than the launch price of £699 seems fair. It is already at about £570 a few days after release as resellers (new) seem to have the main stock to try and get rid of. So, under £500 ($500) will not be long. Wait for the s22 line to release as then the S21 line may fall further. Hard to say anything negative about the phone, even plastic is not an issue for me as I use a case.

    • @ShaneSymonds
      @ShaneSymonds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's how I felt too - couldn't really find anything wrong with this phone so it's an easy recommendation. But at the same time and to your point so many phones are good now. In many parts of the world there are far better value phones but here in the US that's not as much the case for whatever reason. Most people I see either have an iPhone (vast majority) or a Samsung so it's a lot different here

  • @Manya-pk8vu
    @Manya-pk8vu 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Switched to the Galaxy S21 FE a few months back and I gotta say, it's a powerhouse for the price! The display is smooth as butter, perfect for scrolling and watching videos. Plus, the camera captures crisp photos and videos, even on the go. Overall, it's a fantastic phone that keeps up with my busy life. One thing that worries me though is how scratch-prone the plastic back seems. I wouldn't want one accidental drop to ruin the phone's look. Thinking about getting a screen protector, but some can be bulky and affect the fingerprint sensor. Maybe a full-body wrap with a matte finish from gadgetshieldz would be cool? It would protect from scratches, add some grip, and even give the phone a unique look!

    Why do no reviewers mention the quality of the haptics. S21 FE haptics are SO bad, totally ruins the phone for me. One of the worst ive ever experienced, makes it feel like a budget mobile. such a shame too cause the rest of the phone is amazing. Cheap, loose, buzzy, reverberates thru the whole phone with a metalic "zing" rather than being tight n punchy. maybe im spoilt coming from pixels i dunno. FE haptics are as bad as my old A51. S21 normal edition haptics are better than FE imo.

  • @AUniqueKindofWeird

    There is almost no incentive to buy the S21 FE over the regular S21.
    You might as well just save the extra $100 and get the regular flagship.
    There was more value with choosing the S20 FE over the regular S20.
    The S20 FE brought a $300 price cut, making it a much better option for those who wanted that 2020 flagship experience at a marginally cheaper price!
    The S21 was already making cuts and sacrifices to be cheaper than the S20 line to begin with.
    In that case, the S21 FE's release actually seems redundant.
    It's essentially a budget version of a budget flagship phone.

    • @badland.6503
      @badland.6503 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's worth getting though, i prefer SD more over Exynos, i prefer bigger battery, i prefer bigger screen. If you can get it for a right price of course. I'm not a huge camera user (i like taking pictures here and there) so I don't need top of the line cameras and I don't mind that plastic back because everybody would just put a case on.
