I always thought glass was the stupidest material to make a phone back from. It literally makes the whole phone more fragile for no reason other than vanity. Plastic is just a better material to make the rear of the phone from. Won't shatter, doesn't collect fingerprints as bad, glass makes the phone way more slippery, etc. I feel like phone companies have "tricked" consumers into thinking glass backed phones are better so they can sell more when they inevitably break.

Yep, I agree. Back in the day I had a couple Nokia phones and Nokia 920 and so on and they were great. A lot of cool colors and you didn't see the scratches because of the color was all the way through anyway

I prefer Plastic especially if you're not using a case. You can't crack plastic like you can with glass which means less likely to crack your S21 FE vs S22. I also like the feel of the plastic on my S21

    • @undrgrnd734

came from a s8+ to a S21FE, definitely like the change in feeling of materials. I feel like this plastic is a good quality and feeling one compared to like the 2000s era flip phone plastic. I also had a Oneplus One which was really good feeling in the hand. Premium can be more subjective with these kinds of things.
I think with how smartphones have essentially become glass slabs. Perhaps different materials for back can be what makes things feel different

For performance if you haven't use a high end device earlier you wont notice anything. For gaming it does throttle so i wont reccommend for gaming, peopke are saying its overheating but nope its not, its peak while gaming was around 40-43°C which is around moderate heating compared to similar chips like SD888,its the glass back on other phones which gives a cooler to touch. The fact that 21 FE and 22 Plus have the same battery size is mind boggling. They always told us bigger phone means more room for a bigger battery. Samsung dropped the ball in terms of battery for 22 series.

    • @precisemotion

The 22 series is far more optimized. Not only that, the 21 FE does not have an adaptive refresh rate, meaning it needs the extra battery size because it will be using a lot more power constantly running at 120hz. I'm surprised he did not mention that.

There might be no upside to getting the older phone, but there's also no real downside either. As phones, these days are way too similar now to justify buying a phone every year or so. Phones now even budget phones are so good. You don't need the latest and greatest because the margin for budget to premium is too small now. This isn't 2016 anymore

S22 is smaller thn s22+ so it's battery is 3700 mAh and for s22+ is 4500 mAh. But the thing is, a smaller baterry doesn't necessary mean less productivity. Samsung optimized the power consumption on this new generation of S phones and they asume that 3700 mAh battery will keep you running over 24 hrs +. Not to mention better and optimised processor, adaptive display, and overall a better and optimised operating system all witch will drain less out of your battery life. So it's safe to say 3700 mAh battery it's enough for an entire day of productivity.

I'll stick with my Galaxy S21+ and iPhone 13 Pro for now, and wait to see what happens with the S23 series

Thank you! I appreciate this video.. Interestingly I have both phones because I needed one right now and the S22 was on order. So got the S21FE . Still trying to decide which I'm going to keep. I have 2 weeks In which I can return one for a $45 restocking fee. I am almost 61 so kind of liking the bigger screen but I do like the light weight of the S22( green). My son loved that phone. As you can imagine I'm not into gaming or watching movies on my phone. My last phone was an S6 which lasted 8 years! Which would you recommend?

Wow glad to see an s6 user in these comments .. my s6 active is still kicking as i just mainly use it for music or TH-cam videos at home battery don't hold well but it is still a decent phone with a above average camera for the time it was released

What people want glass on the back of their phone? who does not put a protective case on a 500 -1000 device? id vote plastic every time, lighter, less likely to smash if dropped

I just watched ur review, and a nreaby store of me had both for the exactly same price 😅 I was really unsure. BUt i think that plastic back, bigger battery, and bigger display does it for me ❤ Plus a glass back can crack pretty easily, like my current phone did

galaxy s22 has speaker sensitivity problem. Plane trip or heights,
the sound is broken but after a few minutes it returns to normal.

Plastic back does not bother me since I would end up sticking a spigen case anyway.

I got the s21fe but I may have made a mistake. I found out it doesn't have the adaptive display, where it could change htz of your screen depending on your battery usage. The screen is capable of 120 hertz and 60 hertz but I do not understand why Samsung could not include that software with the phone. It's like Samsung corners but I feel like some of the corners they cut might have been the wrong ones. Unless you want to be that person that has to have a car charger and monitor the usage but it's a little bit frustrating.

You can't manually lower the refresh rate from 120hz to 60hz?

    • @xmelloniax
      @xmelloniax 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@MissSmurfey you can do it manually but the display will not do it on its own

Why not use bixby routines for select apps where you want 60hz refresh rate? I've been doing this and I get a full day's battery backup. Sometimes an hour or two more. I generally plug in at ~35% so there's more juice left just in case.

Weird how six months later in Australia the s21 fe is often around AU$700 while the s22 is AU$1250. I think the 21 fe is the obvious choice with that price gap and once you slap on a case.

I cant find anywhere where they sell the s21fe for less than $1000 while the s22 is just $1100 now, i dont get it!

In November 2023, a refurbished S21fe is still $50-100 cheaper...but that's now more significant since it's about 30% of the total cost. Also, since battery life seems to be the biggest downside of the S22, the s21 seems like the best option to me.

I needed a 2nd phone to minimize the risk of damaging my fold 3 on vacations and such so I picked up a used a32 for 100 bucks thinking "how bad could it be for a 2021 phone" and i want to pull my hair out. Tmobile offered 300 for it for a s22 trade in so id say thats a pretty good fucking deal for an actually usable 2nd phone
