I ordered this phone, saw your review and called and canceled the order. One thing I cannot take is short battery life, hot phones and network connective issues. So now I'm reading all these other comments from some of the other users and wondering if maybe it will work itself out through SW updates...That or go for the S22. I don't think I want the Exynos variant? I read where the UK and Europe will get that, and N. America, S. Korea, Australia, India, UAE and S. Africa will get Qualcomm's latest chipset SD 8 Gen 1...
Is it possible for my carrier to know what the phone I want, has? Before I order? I'm sorry I sound clueless here, its cause I am🤔😅
Your video was informative btw, and much appreciated. I heard you just fine and I believe you. I don't think you have a personal issue with Samsung either. 😏

Sylvia the chip is region dependent and not carrier dependent. Where are you located? The spiritual successor to this is the S22+ but even the regular S22 matches or exceeds the S21 FE Exynos for battery life.

Once again congrats on choosing the S22+. By the way, in the US, the S21FE only gets the Snapdragon variant. So a lot of the shortcomings of the Exynos won’t apply. Still the S22+ has a newer processor, the ability to charge at 45 watts and also most importantly, an adaptive refresh rate screen that can go down to 1hz when displaying static content. So a big battery life saver! The S21 FE will remain stuck at either 60 or 120hz at all times, depending on the setting you choose. Wish you well.

Just got this phone a couple of days ago. Unpacked mine and it was super clean didn't have a dirty-looking one like some have stated and no heating issue. This works way better and faster than my S9. The only peeves about the phone is that they no longer support micro sd's. (I have google drive for that now) and that when you change a theme on the phone it doesn't change your chat theme. Other than that I have to say it's a great phone and it gets me by for what I need it for. That's just me, I know some people have their issues/concerns with it, just like every other phone in existence. Still better than any iPhone I've ever owned. Informative video though! 👍

Hello, i got the phone (exynos 2100) last week and i faced none of the issues that you're taking about. The battery life is excellent, there wasn't a single lag or refresh rate drop. It's responses are snappy and does the day to day job very well. It got heated in the first few days because the adaption to user takes time and then it cools down after that ( it's pretty normal in the upcoming phones). And now it doesn't at all and i am a casual gamer. I don't stand to benefit anything from giving a positive review but it is just what I experienced from my phone. Are you sure you didn't receive a fake product?

I am looking into upgrading from my present mobile and saw your very positive comments. I was thinking of getting the S21 at first but the more I look at reviews on the FE the more I am inclined to go for it over the S21. Even though it had gorilla glass at the front do you still need to put a tempered glass? Also at what percentage do you leave your mobile before charging and do you charge at 100% or charge ot at 85% to prolong battery life? Great comments 👍

@@sonnymorgan6141 Just get this one. I believe in your part of the world you will get the Snapdragon version. Here in India we have the Exynos 2100 version, and trust me it's great. I got this just for the camera and iP 68 rating. Battery backup is good and ideally it's suggested to charge till 85% (there's an inbuilt option to limit charging). Also, don't let the charge drop below 40%. Use a tempered glass anyway! It has GG Victus though. Also, a case would be good too.

@@sreebasdutta4703... Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am from Malta and since we are in Europe we only get the Exynos version. I have heard those who praise the S21 FE and then others who say better to get a Pixel for a better Android experience and for the better camera. Though I hear that the Pixel has more bugs and issues than the S21 FE has had. I am also tempted to look at what the Pixel 7 might have to offer. I like the olive S21 FE though.

@@sonnymorgan6141 I got the Olive one. And it looks classy AF! The thing with Pixel is you'll get the best vanilla Android experience but might miss out on some amazing OneUI features. BTW Samsung too is offering 4 years of updates for their A and S series phones. The plus with Samsung is that we get dedicated Pro modes in the camera app for both photos and videos, which for a photographer is a boon. Pixel is king in computational photography, but I still believe adjusting the settings manually according to the scenes gives one the artistic freedom and could often result in superior quality content. That's why I don't go with iOS and Pixels.

When i got s20+ it also had heating issue, it would heat up just by watching 1080p 60fps. I was scared of this and returned the phone. I learned later that this was fixed 3-4months after i had returned the phone. So any heating issue will very likely get resolved, exynos 2100 albeit being slower than even a 865, it shares the same cpu with 888 so its nowhere near to 990. So if 990 became fine, 2100 will be too. Lags would get fixed even faster i imagine. Those shouldnt be deal breaker stuff

The phone will only shutter depends on what apps you have in your phone. This phone in my country is a good catch, do not forget this comes with gorilla victus the strongest glass, Super dynamic amoled , android 12 out of the phone, and now they have announced a 5 years os update and security patches. One UI 4.0 is by far the most stable and the best UI now. I think if someone doesn't like this phone ,there are the flagship products. No point bashing the phone .

I have the S21 FE 5G 256GB Exynos 2100 variant and have not come across any of the issues mentioned here. No heating, no performance or battery issues and definitely no refresh rate issues. It's snappy and smooth even while playing games on ultra settings.
Regarding the benchmarks it sometimes might not show its highest potential score but after a few tries it scored pretty close to SD888 and even sometimes higher. I got 803,687 points!!! in Antutu v9.6.9 and as for Geek Bench 5 it scored 1077 single core and 3431 multicore, which was higher than Snapdragon 865, 865+, 870 and close score to 888.
I sense that the Exynos variant, at times, purposefully slows down cpu performance and that's why sometimes you see high scores and other times terrible scores.

My priority is lag free performance, display, camera and software updates. So my question is how well does Exynos 2100 perform considering the my above preferences. Should I go for S21FE or A73 which is way overpriced which has SD778 . Would appreciate your response.

    • @DanielZakariaei
      @DanielZakariaei 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@vigneshav S21 FE obviously. It is a no contest between these two. S21 FE is still flagship with all flagship specs. a bit of features taken to lower price from regular S21 (just minor features not major ones).
When they compare Exynos to Snapdragon they only mean their own counterparts. Here it is 2100 vs 888. 2100 still does great but since people pay the same price for both chipsets and sometimes Exynos performs a little less (in gpu performance), people get annoyed. Otherwise Exynos 2100 is still a monster cpu even now. Waaaay better than Snapdragon 778. Remember Exynos 2100 is still an overclocked Snapdragon 888 just the gpu is a bit behind. (It still works well nothing you would get dissuaded at).
Not only will it be lag free in performance display camera and software, it will be able to perform flawlessly till andoird 16! (Starting from android 12, It gets 4 android updates and 1 extra security update)
Android 12 is heavy but my S21 Fe is super snappy. Get the 8gb ram version though (not 6gb) cause you will need that extra ram later.

I recently bought s21fe and I can confirm that the battery is terrible on this phone. So much so that I'm reluctant to use it's Camera a lot because I don't want its battery to die before I reach home in the evening. Camera was the only reason I bought this phone and while Camera is good but what is the point of that if you can't use it to it's fullest potential because of battery problem? And what is the point 120hz refresh rate if I have to switch to 60hz... Overall I'm disappointed with this phone.

Had this one for a week, and sold it : Terrible battery life, stuttering in Twitter, youtube when scrolling. Pictures just ok compared to my old Mi 10T pro and many bugs. The only thing positive to be said for this disaster of a phone was the video quality which is way above what i get from my old phone. Recently it dropped in price from 22900 to 16300 online. That's a 28% drop. It really needs a 40% drop though.

Everyone has their own personal views. But you can always call something good or bad based on comparison. And when it comes to comparison believe me this is the best deal available when compared with Galaxy A73, Oneplus 10 R, T (which is almost Realme now 😃 ) and other Xiaomi, Vivo etc etc Chinese phones available. I bought this phone at a price as low as Rs. 30k (363 USD) from Samsung Shop during FOMO offers (available till 30th October 2022) which is usually available at Rs. 54-55k (665 USD). And believe me guys this phone S21Fe is unbeatable with +3 years Software and Security updates that Samsung is offering. Also Exynos 2100 (V.2) is being offered with S21Fe, not last year's (V.1) . And Snapdragon 888 also has heating issues as well. And coming to adapter complain....I totally agree. But this issue is also present in Iphones .....Does it stop you from buying them? I hope not.

I think that stutter is only a bug. I got this phone for more than a week, i sometimes got that stutters like its running a below 30fps and i found that only happen if i lock the phone and as soon as the AOD (Always on Display) comes up i quickly unlock the phone then it's stutters like its below 30fps, but i can fix it by manually change the refresh rate setting to 60hz and chang it again to 120hz or i'll just tap the power saving button on and off (since the power setting change the refresh rate to 60hz). I think what happen here is that AOD supposed to be running at below 30fps to save battery but because of a bug somehow the framerate stuck to the homescreen. Then i tried to disable the AOD and i've never encountered the stutters anymore (for the last 3 days atleast)

I watched the entire video, and thank God I watched!
My current phone died on me and I was looking for a new phone of flagship sort which won't break the bank, saw this being sold at a huge discount on Flipkart and since I always do my due diligence before buying anything I got behind my keyboard. When I found out it had Exynos it already explained enough why it is selling for that cheap.
I'm not a fan of Samsung side of things but I thought they must have done really well now (I'm an old Samsung consumer from those old Galaxy Grand days, wasn't a fan of their UI) but they do get some things right like camera, display and I have heard good things about OneUI, that's why I thought I'd give Samsung another chance.
Then I found this gold standard in-depth well laid out review video of yours talking so honestly about all the features. Mahn Exynos is indeed a deal-breaker for me. And if it's bad even in normal usage (not a mobile gamer, PC sure) then I just can't buy it. Thanks for this video. Why classy TH-camrs like you don't get huge recognition in India? This is how review should be done. I subscribed!
Btw, if you're seeing my comment and still happen to have this phone, did it get better after updates till date? I'd like to know. Thank you.

Subbed. Saved me a pretty penny. Loved that gorgeous display, but I guess am picking something else as my primary for 2022.
Edit: I ended up picking up a unit, after all, after returning my Vivo X70 Pro+, mainly because it's the only half decent Android flagship available in India, right now, with all the niceties, including an IP68 rating, and wireless charging.
My primary concerns, which were overheating, and a poor battery life have long been abated. I do not have network reception issues on my unit.
I have turned off the 'always on display' feature, but my refresh rate remains set to a constant 120Hz.
My screen on time is anywhere between 5.5 - 6 hours, and I suppose I could eke out another half hour by applying a dark theme, and setting the refresh rate to 60Hz. but OneUI is such a bloated mess of an interface, that I would rather not ruin my thus far, very positive impressions of this device, which am running with Nova launcher Prime slapped on, for good measure.
Pick the s21 FE if you want a gorgeous, near bezel less flat display, great cameras, and a dependable all-day palm computer.

Update to my review: I restricted all the apps background usage leaving one or two and the battery seems to have improved. I get approx 6.5hrs on WiFi and about 5hrs on 4G/LTE. I am OK Dual SIM and when I switch off one SIM I get an extra hour.
Still battery is not a strong point with this phone. As for the performance and One UI OS stability, this phone is perfect. No problem with heating. Mine doesn't get hot that much. It's cold most of the time even under 35°C outside temperature.

Reviews say that turning off always on mode will increase battery life. Have you tried that.

I have never seen this speed on any other phone, you touch the app and you get response very fast. Battery can be criticize yeah but amoled 120 hz screen, fingerprint and face lock works flawless, front camera has 4k 60fps videos feature. It charges about 1 hour. Lately my friends bought iphone 14, and it has no 120 hz screen even, your decision to get made fun of by apple or buy this phone almost half price.
