1.i don't suggest holding the fuel line till it dies, you are basically leaning the motor out till it stops, best way is to hit the flywheel with a screwdriver or plug the exhaust. 2. you don't tighten the idle screw till it stops moving you loosen it (i'am guessing that was a typo)
+Thomas The Spank Engine Hit the fly wheel? hell no.... you'll damage the engine while it's running...NEVER do that. Just plug the exhaust or pinch the fuel line... as stated in the Traxxas manual or DVD. I suggest you go and watch it.
markybyeah Never damaged a motor in my 12 years of running nitros and let me rephrase that its not hitting the flywheel its applying pressure to the fly wheel till the motor stops, if you know anything about 2 stroke motors and how they work this method WON'T damage the motor. And pinching the fuel line is leaning the motor out causing the engine to have no oil which it requires for the motor when its running which in the long run isn't good. Why would i watch a traxxas DVD? they don't even know how to glue the wheels properly from the factory.
Thomas The Spank Engine Hitting the flywheel or slowing it down will wear out your bearings A LOT quicker due to force on the crank, you'll strip the grip on the flywheel or cause the nut that holds the flywheel on to come loose. I have had MANY nitro's over the years. My t-maxx is in storage.... only idiots would do such thing.. just follow the damn book or plug the exhaust, it's easier. Go troll elsewhere and ruin your engines dummy.

Funzone49 you pinch the fuel line mostly because it's not hot. and if you run your rc out of gas, you will need to refill up the fuel line because it will be dry and/or can have bubble of air in it.
Funzone49 it change anything, it's a direct carb, it don't have any reserve like a standard motorcycle carb. and in fact, if you let a motorcycle sitting away for a long time, the best is to drain the carb to prevent any kind of deposit in it and clogged the jets

bad idea, I never listen to their way anymore. your supposed to let it idle rich like 4 turns out for the carburetor. The whole first tank of gas, and go 1/4 throttle for the 2nd and 3rd tank, 1/2 for the 4th and 5th, and go full for a second or to by easing into it for the 5th and 6th tank, that's what I did and my 2.5r runs way better than my 2.5 did with the traxxas way. they say give it gas for the 1st tank so you can wear your engine down faster, blow it up, and send it back and buy their new ones

It's best to break it in under load. And it allows everything else to get broken in.
Do you need to "break in" the engine after doing a rebuild but keeping the same piston sleeve and piston?
Xhan Malo I would do a short break in maybe take it slow for like 1 tank of fuel but sense your keeping the Same piston and sleeve you should be fine

Judged Clan needs a coupler between the shaft and the flywheel. just converted my Nitro 4 Tec from Pro .15 to 3.3 and had that issue. all fixed now ;)
