Thanks for sharing this video you made it so easy to follow as I bought a traxxas slayer pro 4x4 and I don’t think it was ever used because there is no smell of nitro from the tank and I picked it up for 120euro think I got a good deal on it and I can’t wait to get it out for a spin thanks again and I will catch you on the next video big like from me bud 🤝🇮🇪
Really helpful video. Thanks. As far as the transmission settings is there like a factory setting like the carb? (X amount of turns from closed position?)
After the break in you're all set. After I break in my engines both big and small I prefer to run them lightly for a little bit just to make sure everything is a-ok.
+Dallas Lynch Yes, but you should make sure to get a thermometer that is meant for nitro RC. I know this is an old video but just got my tmaxx. Broke it in today. My question is what is the blue tubing on the exhaust. Seems that will help big time on exhaust debri on body
Great videos! I decided to get a 3.3 instead of a new sleeve and piston for my 2.5. Should I stick to traxxas break in method or do like you did with your KE25.
+Michael Robinson Eh, I would honestly do the heat cycle break in method like I did with my KE25. Much better method in my opinion! Thanks for watching!
I've done several Traxxas engines, hpi engines and IS engines. I know this is Traxxas break in method but you habe to remember that they always want parts to break and not last as long as they can so you soend more money. The the best way to break in a Nitro motor is get a hairdryer and heat up the block to 200 degrees then let it idle for 3 tanks but after each tank you let it sit and cool back down. do not put any load on the motor until you've let it idle atleast one tank. preferably 3. With with the Traxxas break in method your looking at 3 to 5 gallon engine life. With proper break in you can get 10+ and also more power and efficiency.
+Amateur RC Yes, I completely agree with you! I have a heat cycle break in method on my channel also where I broke in a Kyosho KE25 engine and is still running strong at 6 gallons. I prefer the heat cycle method as well and do it on my engines. I am, however just putting several methods out there for instructional purposes because that's what I am aiming at for the purpose of my channel. Here is a link to the video I made on the heat cycle method it is a 2 part video series: th-cam.com/video/g2nBXwqyqdaM/w-d-xo.html Thanks for your input! Have a good one!
For some reason the heat cycle method video link isn't working for me on my phone (I'm at work right now) but if you take a look at my video list on my channel you can't miss it! I go over the preheating and everything you are talking about on that video! Thanks for watching!
I also believe that traxxas does this method for several reasons. Of course I don't know for sure but my theory is that this method is a lot easier to communicate to the end user than all of the details of a proper heat cycle method (of which there are many anyways). They also claim that their method also breaks in more than just the engine IE: brakes, slipper clutch, clutch etc... I'm sure you are also aware that there are many different factors that will ultimately determine the life of an engine, such as, the environment you run in, how often the air filter is changed and proper oiling of the filter. How lean you run the engine. Type of fuel and the percentage of oil content. Quality etc... If you preheat tour engine each time before it's fully loosened up and peaks in power. And the list goes on. Anyways, just thought I'd share some of my thoughts on the reason why they use the method.
+Average Joe Nitro I'm glad you didnt get offensive like many have. I was just stating that the heat cycle method will get you much longer run time. my first 2 3.3 trx engines on my T-maxx only lasted 3-5 gallons. I habe a new one on it now that I did the heat cycle method and wow at the power difference. much more low end torque and higher tip speeds. right now I'm working on getting the internal components to turn my OS max .30vg from bump start to pull start. then it's going in a revo. I habe 3 revo. one is a stock 3.3, the other is the 3.3 chassis that the OS is going in and lastly is the shorter chassis 2.5 version that I'll be adding an E-maxx brushless tyranny and make it brushless. I do not buy Traxxas electrics. I buy the Nitro rollers and convert them. an MT with a plastic chassis is just asking to be broken. I'l be subscribing. I hope you do the same for me. I have 3 hpi Nitro RS4 3 Evo+ I'll be uploading tonight.

I just bought a revo 3.3 today i started the break in and did the first tank but then it got dark. Tomorrow can I just pick up on the second tank and continue or should I start the process over like it's the first tank.
Hey avg Joe, Thank you for the reply this made my decision very easy! I will check your other video on breaking in nitro if I have other question I will ask you. oh p.s. I have a heavy trigger finger too lol. thanks again
Average Joe Nitro that's not much more than my electric do you think it's worth it? I'm thinking about getting a Traxxas nitro slayer pro 4 x 4 as well
Yea late to the game I have an original 2.5 & a 3.3 so yea they’re 13 & 11 years old respectively I just bought a new 3.3 (3/7/21) You’re using that rubber on the exhaust pipe to keep the nitro off the tires, arm, and shocks correct? Do you notice any dip in power using it? I’ve never used one, but as I get older I think so like to spend less time cleaning them..lol
+Bart Goulooze Yes but I would strongly suggest that you have a look at my channel and watch the two part video series on breaking in a nitro engine via the heat cycle method. I personally believe that the heat cycle method is the best method that one can use. It involves running the first tank or two with the RC set on a stand or box etc... With no load placed on the engine. You can also watch how I break-in the dynamite .31 Gasoline Engine and get a good idea of how the heat cycle method is done. I hope you have a successful break in.... And always remember to preheat the engine before starting it until you get it broken in. Also always rotate the flywheel to bottom dead center when letting it cool. Those two things are very important to have a long engine life!
okey thank you, i am new to nitro rc cars and i have so many questions i hope your channel will answer most of them thanks for the response you gained a extra subscriber ;)
+Bart Goulooze You can. Each manufacturer has their own method. This video is strictly showing the traxxas method. I do not think that this is one of the beat methods. I like to use the heat cycle method. If you look at my channel you will see a two part series on how to break in a nitro engine using a heat cycle method.
I've always just idled the first tank through, then kept it off the ground and monitored temps to 225c and went 1/4 throttle on second tank 1/2 throttle 3rd tank, 3/4 throttle on 4th tank, 5th tank lean it out a bit and start to drive it around but I don't ever really drive it hard till it's got a bottle through it. Never had a traxxas nitro though. My last one my buddy was ripping it around when it changed gears he lost control and a vehicle ran it over. It just destroyed the motor but there's alot of good parts on it still, I'm going to rebuy the fw07 chassis and use whatevers salvageable as a parts car
I Break-in, and Run my Traxxas Nitro's. Using the: Traxxas 33% Nitro Fuel. The 33% Nitro Traxxas Fuel, Burns cleaner. Your Fuel consumption lasts longer, and it has the same: Oil-Package as the: 10%, 20%, Traxxas Nitro Fuel.
+luke curtis No, don't run it completely put of fuel. Some people actually run down to a half tank and then refuel and run it back down to half again to achieve a full tank. That way you won't have any half tank leaning issues.
I love nitro 🥰....3:14 looks like somebody had a few roll overs from the looks of the oh shit lid on the motor lol 👍 I know this is an old vid as well as my timing for the comments but this is the first time I'm seeing this vid I broke in my revo with the ez had the pull on there but I got tired of scraping the meat of my knuckles😖 plus it's alot easier to tune with the ez because you can start it alot faster while the motor is at the same temp but that's my "opinion and choice" very nice property by the way!👍perfect for planes jets cars trucks and definitely some quad racing and freestyle 😁I wouldn't mind staying home during this covid time at all with that yard lol great vid and instructions were on point and Temps are soooo important really glad you pointed that out👍 I just wish you would've explained the "after-run" procedure....its THE MOST IMPORTANT THING if you want to keep your motor from locking up and having to break in a new one 😁 all in all great vid man and nice truck✌
+David Hajigeorgiou This truck does not come with reverse installed. It does have a reverse kit that can be installed that is made by Traxxas. I believe it costs around 20 dollars for the reverse kit.
+MR jdizzle86 If you mean it won't stay idling you can try screwing in the idle screw a little bit or could be the glow plug might need changing. Could be an air leak in the fuel system. I would start with the idle screw. The check or change the glow plug followed by checking the fuel system for leaks.
Average Joe Nitro i meant for the lsn tuning after the pinch test was at 3 seconds and set , my idol was good sitting still then go really high after a high speed run, but you could tap the throttle and it would go down to normal?
@@MRNITROGAMER Forget the pinch test for now. Start with factory settings for the HSN and LSN. Set your carb gap @ 0.5mm. USE A FEELER GAUGE FOR THIS! Don't eyeball it, because you need it to be proper. When you start it up and it will not stay idling, it cuts out due to flooding, turn the LSN in 1/4 of a turn. Do this till it will stay running. Once you hit a spot where it stays running, back out the LSN to get your idle down, but not so low that the engine cuts out. Tune your HSN and finish off by leaning out your LSN afterwards.
How did you like the T Maxx ? I am trying to decide between the Traxxas T Maxx 3.3 or Kyosho Inferno NEO ST Race Spec 2 for my first nitro ! How are your thoughts to that may help me out in deciding. I won't be bashing , I'll be driving mainly on the pavement and I like a fast vehicle and a vehicle that will be easy to work on with the availability of parts. Thanks
I mean my bulk heads broke from my car losing control, but the aftermarket part selection is huge, stock holds up just fine, but if you do break them i recommend rpm, they last so long!
+Andrew Douglas Yes, all nitro vehicles tend to lean out as the tank empties. This happens because there isn't as much pressure forcing the fuel into the carb when there is less fuel in the tank as there is when the tank is full. It's not good to do especially during break in. It's best to keep the tank full and work down to half a tank and then refuel. So if you were needing to run a full tank before letting it cool, I would advise running it to half, refuel, and then running it back down to half again. This leaning out condition is referred to as half tank lean out. Hope that helps!
+Andrew Douglas It's not something that's going to destroy your engine by any means, just a good practice to get into when breaking it in to assure the engine is receiving the maximum amount of lubrication possible. If you are running a very rich break in needle settings then you have nothing to worry about. Preheating the engine is the single most important thing you can do on a engine until broken in.... Followed by keeping the engine Temps between 200-220 while breaking in.
i was in the middle of breaking in my traxxas.then i smash it in a post. the shock tower was broken..i was not able to finish breaking it in.. can i break in again when i change the shock tower? thanks and one more thing whats the problem if a truck is jerking , its like to take off in idle or in stop.
+t maxx Yes, you can continue where you left off when it's repaired. It sounds like you have the idle too high if the truck is sitting at idle and jerking. Back the idle screw out a very small amount after you start the engine until it stops jerking. This happens when the idle is so high that the clutch is slightly engaging when at a very high idle. Hope this helps!
+t maxx Sounds like you might just be a little lean on the LSN. The tune will change quite a bit as the engine comes up to operating temp. If it's a jerking at idle then I would richen the LSN. I might not be fully understanding exactly what you are referring to. Usually if the truck is jerking it's either a lean issue, clutch issue, or a high idle. Also possibly air bubbles in the fuel line. Take a look at the fuel tubing going into the carb and see if there are tiny air bubbles in the line. If so you will need to eliminate the source of the air coming into the system. Hope that Is a little more helpful!
One thing i would recommend that even Traxxas dont mention is make sure your piston is at the bottom while it cools off...if your piston is pinched it's gonna shink and your not gonna get much life .just like your car engine piston always stays at the bottom . common sense.
@Chris Sap no you do it when you shut off the engine that it's hot if the Piston is pinched on top you're not really breaking it incorrectly you want no pinch on top when it's cooling down so when you shut it off make sure you got the Piston to the bottom it should be easy to move back and forth with your finger. The easiest way to put a little black mark on the bottom of the flywheel so you could know it's at the bottom
@Chris Sap okay you don't have to pull the glow plug out at all you can tell it's at the bottom when you turn it it gets hard to turn that means the Pistons to the top keep turning it till it feels free that will be the bottom. And no after you break it in it should always land to the bottom where you could move it left and right so after like 5:00 6:10 you shouldn't have to do it it should fall on the down position just always check until it goes to the bottom three or four times on its own then you know you did a good break and if that piston stays to the bottom
Hey avg Joe, thank you for the video lot of good info. have a question for you. once broken in how long does a tank of fuel last while running and also what the temperature for each tank on the break in. pls advice buying a slayer in a few weeks for my birthday and doing some research and your video was very straightforward on break in. thanks again and have a wonderful day.
+Santiago Bodden I would say you should get at least 10 mins of run time each tank. This is of course depending on your driving style. (if you have a heavy finger like I do lol) You want your temperature to get to between 200-230 during break in. This is very important for a long engine life. If you want to go a step extra that is of MAJOR help in increasing life. Get a heat gun or hair dryer and warm up the head to as close to 200 as you can before starting. You will want to do this for the first 10 of so tanks I would advise. You should check out my heat cycle engine break in video on my video page. It is called "Kyosho KE25 engine break in using the heat cycle method" I would strongly advise using this method if I were going to do it again. I have had excellent results with the heat cycle method! Just make sure to rotate your flywheel to where the piston is at bottom dead center when cooling between runs. Let me know if you have any other questions. Be sure to check out the other videos. It is a 2 part video.
hi on my nitro it starts yes new glowplug yes new fuel yes %20 nitro. yes messed with high end low end and carb screw yes but it runs so loud and fast if i make a yt video on what it sounds like can u help me out in any way plzz i been trying for 2 weeks now cant get it right
for red cat nitro cars though, you're only supposed to let'er idle for the first tank, while its running rich, than for the rest of the tanks, gradually increase the speed while keeping it running richly. dunno where you got this: let it sit for 3 tanks method from.. lmao.
+FUNNY FUDGE MAN The 3.3 value in a TRX 3.3 engine means the engine is a 3.3 cubic centimeter displacement.(metric system) If I remember correctly it converts into a more commonly known . 20 engine. When you see engine sizes such as. 21. 25. 28. 30. 32 etc... This is the engine displacement in inches.
+Brian Shafer When they are tuned in really well they are a great little engine! They are a very finicky engine to tune in my opinion. Especially the LSN. It is very very touchy! When it's tuned well it will Wheelie on demand and is a high revving engine. If you dont mind tweaking the tune a lot then they are good little engines. They are very affordable also. So yes I like them but they are far from my favorite! The easiest tuning engine I have ever had is a Kyosho KE25. I also have a Novarossi Rex Legend 28-8 that is a modified engine..... and it screams!
Average Joe Nitro I'm personally lucky to read this comment I had a ke 25 dropped at my house by buddy and just orderd a tmax for 300 and will this ke25 engine fit fine in the tmax no prob like do I New any brackets or will,it fit good as is ?
i crashed mine into a pole on tank 5 full throttle when I first got it. Hilarious. Now I realize that lot is not so good for driving around rc cars at night lol
+Richard Aldridge It's just a good idea to keep it from shifting until you get to full throttle passes. If it's shifting into second gear then you would just simply need to adjust your shift point later by turning the screw inside the transmission.
hey man u just bought a new tmaxx 2.5 and I stars to break it in first tank and instead of accelerating it jerks and jolts like the clutch is catching and letting go quickly I have to give it quarter throttle to get it to grab. is that normal? thanks
+John Smith It sounds like it could just be because of the rich setting and the clutch isn't grabbing firmly because of the low rpm. Only other thing it could be is possibly a little bit of bearing oil has gotten in the clutch bell. I would take the clutch bell off and have a look inside to be sure it is oil free. While you have it off you can clean it with alcohol or brake cleaner to be sure there is no oil. Also make sure the spring is not damaged. I have never ran a hot racing clutch before. I know there are several manufacturers that make clutch setups for it. I believe that bukku makes one if I recall? They are great clutches. I could be wrong though. Hope that helps!
Seems so much better just to break in an electric motor and be on your way. I do miss nitro engines, listening the engine run and all. Just going through bad dealers, giving you bad break in information. Then on some piece of crap $400 dollar 4x4 just breaking it in, parts were falling off. Yes, just sitting there and let it idol. I ended up buying a $300 dollar motor for that, and bought a $200 dollar motor for a totally different car. I am over 6,000 ft in elevation that plays a roll. Well the new $300 dollar motor made the whole truck when broken in, flip on its back. The $200 dollar motor made my Traxxas I think Revo? The Revo hauled butt! later flipped over and the car landed on the heat sink knocking out the piston connection inside making the motor not work. Only found this out later after I took and sold it to a different seller for a low price after arguing what I thought the problem was. He found out I was right and dicked me out of part of the sale telling me he sold it for a lower price then I was asking for it. Nitro's have just been a very expensive cost for me. I sold all my nitro's 12 years ago for one of the Baja 5b when they first came out. Simple break in, but ran like a champion!
When was this method the thing to do as far as break ins? In the mid 1980’s? That’s how long it’s been since traxxas updated their manual😂. Think I will stick with the Adam Drake’s method for break ins.
+Jeff Olson From my experience the motor, like any electric motor will eventually burn out. I also had the hand held battery starter unit go bad. Everything fails eventually. Pull start is just my personal preference and is more reliable in my opinion. Thanks for watching and thanks for your input!
+Ben Pyka Well, I personally think that this type of thing is fun. Some like you see it as trouble but I guess that's the only reason I can see lol. I love tinkering with these little engines!
Average Joe Nitro well thats good whatever floats your boat good video by the way, i guess i just never understood why nitros have to be so complicated i would love to get one just don't think i have the patience for it lol now don't get me wrong i like working on my trucks as far as repairs and upgrades but going through all this just to get it running ....
Ben Pyka gotta break in car engines too. And by cars I mean Chevy, Chrysler etc. corvettes for one have TONS of rules for the first 500-1000 miles (I can personally tell you that) and even my Chrysler 200 and Harley's had a lot of "break-in" rules.
conner stines thats fine i can respect that well all love this hobby and the many varieties there in like i said i would love to go nitro i just wish it was a little easier to deal with and it doesnt help that i have a attention span of a 4 year old
I’d wish Traxxas would come out with a Tmaxx 4.0.
It should be 1 inch wider and a 1/2 inch longer than a current Maxx V2. Please also have it with a quick release body.

Excellent recap, thank you! Will definitely have this playing while breaking in my new TMaxx 3.3.
Excellent video! Much appreciated.
Just bought my first 2 nitro vehicles yesterday and am excited to get them running today.
How did you get on with the 2 nitro cars any issues?
This makes me really miss my tmaxx. Great video.
Great Information. Wishing you prosperity in 2023
thanks for all the great info man you made my nitro experience alot smoother 👍👍👍 keep making these detailed vids, really really helpful.
This was the best descriptive video in detail for the break in I’ve seen thanks for the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for the great video. Looking to getting my 1st Nitro car.
Best video . Hands down . Just tuned my jato 3.3
Thanks man I just bought a 3.3 truck this really help me
Great Video thanks for helping us get into the hobby correctly.
+stewart00311 You are most welcome! Glad I was able to help!
I know this video is very old, but can you do a video about switching from the ez start to pull start ?
Thx.
That’s very easy two screws from header three screws from easy start and buy a pull start
Four screws remove engine
Awesome video thank you! I didn't know about the fuel tank seal adjustment, I've been having problems with my Revo and i think i know why now!....
also is a hot racing clutch a good idea to replace this one?
Really helpful video. Thanks. As far as the transmission settings is there like a factory setting like the carb? (X amount of turns from closed position?)
After going through the breaking in process what would be the procedures done the day after or another day? Would i have to break it in again ?
GN’R t No
After the break in you're all set. After I break in my engines both big and small I prefer to run them lightly for a little bit just to make sure everything is a-ok.
Nice video thanks 🙂, what a great garden for running the cars 😁, wish I had this much space haha 😀
Have a question I just bought a taraxxas max 3.3 and when I go to take off it wants to pull to the right how do I fix that.
Check steering trim
Can I use an inferred thermometer to monitor engine temperature during break-in?
+Dallas Lynch Yes, but you should make sure to get a thermometer that is meant for nitro RC. If you do not and stick the laser down close to the cooling head to take temps the gun is going to give false high temps. The ratio for how far the temp gun should be away from the target is very important when taking the temps. Also the emissivity settings are important and are usually suggested to be set to 77E.
Average Joe Nitro Thank you. Very helpful. Just bought a nitro rustler with the 2.5 and have got to break-in
I know this is an old video but just got my tmaxx. Broke it in today. My question is what is the blue tubing on the exhaust. Seems that will help big time on exhaust debri on body
Yep that is exactly what that is for
Great Video! 😎 I Actually Think I Heard It Shift 2 Different Times Though Even Though You Turned Back The Screw.
I was having a lot of tank issues, but now i dont...thanks!!
Change the O ring

Excellent!
Thx for the video, any one pls tell where in VA I can get the nitro or the gas kit?
thanks for the advice! much apreciated
+John Smith No problem!
how long does this process generally take?
+Jrizy King It usually takes 3 hours or so I would say.
how long it takes
I love electric rc’s, but I’ll always be a sucker for that Nitro sound and experience
It’s like the V8 sound compared to a 4 cylinder or a hybrid
Traxxas got famous because of the Tmaxx
I hope they take a chance and do a tribute reboot to the mighty TMaxx one last time
Do it right Traxxas, you owe it all to the Tmaxx
I know I’ll buy one for me and my son
I just bought a revo 3.3 today i started the break in and did the first tank but then it got dark. Tomorrow can I just pick up on the second tank and continue or should I start the process over like it's the first tank.
Well for the fourth tank on my slayer 3.3 I would let it shift into 2nd gear so hopefully it didn't hurt it too much
+Layton “IIII RC IIII” Mitchell I'm sure you are fine. It's just really to keep the stress of shifting off of the engine
Hey avg Joe, Thank you for the reply this made my decision very easy! I will check your other video on breaking in nitro if I have other question I will ask you. oh p.s. I have a heavy trigger finger too lol. thanks again
+Santiago Bodden Not a problem!
How long will it run on one full tank of fuel
+AUDIESQUAD PPAT About 10 to 15 minutes depending on how heavy you are on the throttle.
Average Joe Nitro that's not much more than my electric do you think it's worth it? I'm thinking about getting a Traxxas nitro slayer pro 4 x 4 as well
AUDIESQUAD PPAT But you don't need to charge for awhile
Very nice! Great guide.
Do nitros need extra battery's to run servos or can you keep running it until your out of fuel?
MOTO yes they do need batterys for the servos and the reciver
nathan484848 Thx
nathan484848 Thx
MOTO no problem
+MOTO Yes, they need a battery to power the receiver and servos.
Yea late to the game
I have an original 2.5 & a 3.3 so yea they’re 13 & 11 years old respectively
I just bought a new 3.3 (3/7/21)
You’re using that rubber on the exhaust pipe to keep the nitro off the tires, arm, and shocks correct?
Do you notice any dip in power using it?
I’ve never used one, but as I get older I think so like to spend less time cleaning them..lol
can i use this method on a other nitro engine?
Running in at idle is a thing of the past. It has long been proven that two-stroke engines should not be run in at idle.
I love traxxas so so so much.
t maxx 3.3 is the god all rc cars and rc trucks.
Is the truck always that delayed
Could break in a jato or any other rc on a dunk or rolling road or does it have to be on the street moving?
They recommend to do it on the ground because off the ground can cause over revving
When your doing his half throttle step thing, do u wait till the car stops from running out of nitro? Cause I have heard it isn't good to do that?
+luke curtis No, don't run it completely put of fuel. Some people actually run down to a half tank and then refuel and run it back down to half again to achieve a full tank. That way you won't have any half tank leaning issues.
Average Joe Nitro ok thanks!
Thanks, i have one of these engine to break-in, i will use this method ;-)
Good luck!
Ware do I get one like that mate
Does this particular model geared for reverse?
+David Hajigeorgiou This truck does not come with reverse installed. It does have a reverse kit that can be installed that is made by Traxxas. I believe it costs around 20 dollars for the reverse kit.
I got my low speed right at 3 secs after fuel cutoff, but having idoling problems. Any tips to fix that???
Thanks
For speed, I would choose the kyosho, but for easy to work on and availability of parts I would definitely go with the tmaxx
Thanks... Did you have to change out your bulkheads on the Tmaxx because of cracking or did they hold up.
I mean my bulk heads broke from my car losing control, but the aftermarket part selection is huge, stock holds up just fine, but if you do break them i recommend rpm, they last so long!
Is the nitro good? How many minutes is a full tank? Think about buying one
yes its good about 1 to 2 hours depends
Thanks so much I subbed ure the man
How so u add or check oil?
Oil is blended in with the fuel itself. You should put after run oil in the cylinder by removing the glow plug after running
great vid
+Jorge Quintanilla Thank you!
Good video 👍
t maxx 3.3 rocks and best and cool.
Is it true you shouldn't run the tank empty when breaking in? If so what happens if you do by accident?
Awesome
Awesome video but allot of patience required for that break in , I'm gonna pay some kid to do it for me lol
Does the nitro lubricant the Engine
Well, technically, methanol engine with a lubrication package and a amount of nitro methane... gas burners are in the 1/5 scale buggies.
How long does it take to go through a full tank?
Don't break in like this. I suppose Traxxas want to sell replacement engines.
Does it come with engine thermometer?
The engine thermometer?
+TH Carbone No, I got the Flashpoint thermometer on tower hobbies
Thanks
nice vid bud
+phil fallaize Thank You!
i was in the middle of breaking in my traxxas.then i smash it in a post. the shock tower was broken..i was not able to finish breaking it in.. can i break in again when i change the shock tower? thanks
and one more thing whats the problem if a truck is jerking , its like to take off in idle or in stop.
Hope this helps!
i actually did that already.. i almost back the idle screw all the way down..but its to low because the engine stalls.
It's not jerking when I start. It's start jerking when I ran maybe 1/8 to 1/4 of the tank.
Hope that Is a little more helpful!
okay thanks.
And no after you break it in it should always land to the bottom where you could move it left and right so after like 5:00 6:10 you shouldn't have to do it it should fall on the down position just always check until it goes to the bottom three or four times on its own then you know you did a good break and if that piston stays to the bottom
great video
t maxx 3.3 best rc truck ever made t maxx 3.3 is number whole tire world.
my Brand new traxxas Tmaxx 2.5 rught out of the box revs super high. Help

Hey avg Joe, thank you for the video lot of good info. have a question for you. once broken in how long does a tank of fuel last while running and also what the temperature for each tank on the break in. pls advice
buying a slayer in a few weeks for my birthday and doing some research and your video was very straightforward on break in. thanks again and have a wonderful day.
It is called "Kyosho KE25 engine break in using the heat cycle method"
I would strongly advise using this method if I were going to do it again. I have had excellent results with the heat cycle method! Just make sure to rotate your flywheel to where the piston is at bottom dead center when cooling between runs. Let me know if you have any other questions. Be sure to check out the other videos. It is a 2 part video.
Hey nice Car:)
hi on my nitro it starts yes new glowplug yes new fuel yes %20 nitro. yes messed with high end low end and carb screw yes but it runs so loud and fast if i make a yt video on what it sounds like can u help me out in any way plzz i been trying for 2 weeks now cant get it right
RC_Built_ Tough thx anyways i got it and yea tuned fine ran it tops at 95 mph supercharger
FOCUS!!!!
Polly best vid outhrre
I just let it sit idle 3 tanks and the last 2 tanks I drive it really slowly and keep track rich during and after break in for a while
thats bad for trx engines apparently, according to the break in manual for my traxxas jato 3.3 that I got today.
for red cat nitro cars though, you're only supposed to let'er idle for the first tank, while its running rich, than for the rest of the tanks, gradually increase the speed while keeping it running richly. dunno where you got this: let it sit for 3 tanks method from.. lmao.
3.3 ? Is that horse power?
+FUNNY FUDGE MAN The 3.3 value in a TRX 3.3 engine means the engine is a 3.3 cubic centimeter displacement.(metric system) If I remember correctly it converts into a more commonly known . 20 engine. When you see engine sizes such as. 21. 25. 28. 30. 32 etc... This is the engine displacement in inches.
it makes like 1.4 hp
wow a lot more than I thought
Thank you
Bro the pull start also gives out
5:14 I have that same screwdriver hahaha
Do you like 3.3 engines
My tmaxx 2.5 has really high idle
Break it in drive it like you always would beat the shirt outta it that’s how it’s gonna live the rest of its life
What if it shifts into 2nd
The EZ start is bad the pins will eventually break. If you have the ez start put a 2s Lipo with XT60 connector on it it fits and performs much better
i want buy that car....can i
Kind of like watching paint dry isn't it ?? Lol
+Russell Cupples Yes, indeed it can be lol!
@@averagejoenitro2730 do you have to do this every time you use the nitro (first time nitro user, just got that same t maxx)
When was this method the thing to do as far as break ins? In the mid 1980’s? That’s how long it’s been since traxxas updated their manual😂. Think I will stick with the Adam Drake’s method for break ins.
Running in at idle is a thing of the past. It has long been proven that two-stroke engines should not be run in at idle.😂
well i fucked it up now what can i do?

+Amateur RC Thanks! I will be sure to check out your channel also!
Agreed, sorry I think one of my kids posted a comment here.
+Jeff Olson I understand lol. I have a couple of little ones myself. I kind of figured that was a child. Have a great day!
LOL HE HAD CIGARETTES NEXT TO FUEL XD
the electric starter dose not go bad
+Jeff Olson From my experience the motor, like any electric motor will eventually burn out. I also had the hand held battery starter unit go bad. Everything fails eventually. Pull start is just my personal preference and is more reliable in my opinion. Thanks for watching and thanks for your input!
270 celsius or faraneight
+Eloki12 Fahrenheit
Thanks! Sorry I live in canada, so I don't know how to write Fahrenheit (+I'm from Quebec[I speak french])
Why in the world would anyone go through all this trouble to run a rc when you could just slap a 3s lipo in a truck and squeeze the trigger ?
Electric R/C maybe be much easier, but nitro cars are just more interesting to me.
conner stines thats fine i can respect that well all love this hobby and the many varieties there in like i said i would love to go nitro i just wish it was a little easier to deal with and it doesnt help that i have a attention span of a 4 year old
cool shit
