Rode a VMax back in the mid 2000s at Yamaha Corp event. When I pulled the throttle, I was like "holy shit...holy shiiiiit"...a pure insanity, and that is exactly why this bike was, and still is, incredible.
I own a 2014 Max. I have not fully opened the throttle from a dead start. From a rolling start, say 5 to 20 mph, open the throttle half way and the rear will smoke. The bike is so stable and the wheelbase is so long the front wheel will never come off the ground. Owners take care of your Max. 2021 is the last year of production.

Anyway, I have like 35k mls on the clock and all I needed was tires, fuel and oil change every 10k miles. I got her new brake pads and new brake and clutch liquid just some weeks ago even though it all still worked fine. No issues at all, and I ride that bike at all weather conditions except for snow. That bike is so heavily underrated as everyday vehicle... With the Gen1 I did 60k MLS without any issue and I still ride it once in a while. VMax is rock solid, esp if you treat her like a normal bike. Might be different when you put it to a drag strip frequently or when you hammer it often. When comparing it to the other 200 hp bikes, you didn't compare the torque. Those other bikes put out 80-90 ft/lbs. The VMAX puts out about 120. That's what males the VMAX way more insane than the other bikes.
What made you rev up a brand new engine like that? I know that it is difficult to ride that bike without testing its features but doing so, you should respect the owner. That is the reason why I bought both my Maxes (1200 and 1700) brand new. I simply wanted to be sure that the preowner did not any of these silly things like revving up in cold conditions or a brand new engine. I don't want to have any issues with a bike that comes with such a price tag. Apart from that, nice review.

The Yamaha VMax motorcycle, in my opinion, was the most outright American, and one of the all-time best motorcycles ever produced, hands down! It makes me sad Yamaha said goodbye to this model! If they would have increased the horsepower by 100, and/or added another 5 - 10 gallons of gas (number one complaint, and cheaper to fix than the HP factor,) they would sell these like chocolate cake at a fat-camp!!! The greatest American motorcycle ever built, killed by a company that, sadly is out of touch with everyday Americans! Fuck California! (A sentiment shared by most Americans) Yamaha! Register your American headquarters in Oklahoma where you don’t have to jump through as many dumb-ass hoops! California is a legend in it’s own mind! Most of us Americans detest California! Bring me a 2020 V-Max with a 10-15 gallon tank of fuel capacity and I will purchase 1000 units guaranteed!!!
The VMAX was killed by stricter European emissions regulations. Since Yamaha would not have been able to sell it in the European Union they cancelled it. The original VMAX prototype engine produced 300 HP and variable valve timing. I guess Yamaha thought that was too much.

That was a wonderful video, thank you
I need this bike 😍🤤
Its Schrodinger's bike, I both simultaneously need it and don't need. But good lord the power on this hot rod is unreal.
Great bike best as a second bike to take on the odd Sunday cruise it's not an everyday bike the v8 mustang of bikes
F. it..........
I'm gonna get one......
That’s what I said and I’ve done it! 2015 Beast Max!!!
This is the best bike ever
Inception in 2008 -2009? Try 1985
This generation of the VMAX incepted in 08-09, if you watch further into the video it goes into the history of the bike, and the first generation. Thanks for watching and commenting!
VMAX = Smilex
It turned the reviewer into a cackling mess.
This is truly unwatchable from the commentary
Thanks for your feedback friend, I'm sorry that our content is not to appealing to your particular taste.
Can’t deal with the cackling. Had to turn off 1/4 way through..
Vmax was in the 2nd Ghost Rider movie
Its bonkers, I want it.
I can't take that cackle
I absofuckinlutely love my 86
Yep when you ride a big motorbike you ain't never going back to a regular bike again oh yeah hehehe
笑う声が気持ちいい
このバイクは私を狂ったように笑わせてくれます🤪
I want one
Ride a vmax could be compared with get a date with scarlett Johansson and gad gadot at the same time.
Such a shame they don't make them anymore. Yamaha.......If you happened to bring them back, larger tank and shift assist like the BMW. PLEASE.....!!!!!!
"15-20"mpg"? Really? How about vibration? V4 should be very smooth.
80 miles and the fuel warning light will come on. The rider only feel a neglible amount of vibe from the handlebar. The rest of the bike is smooth as cream. U can actually ride all day and your hands will never get num.
It's 25 or so MPG. 4 gallon tank.
My everyday Rider it's a blast
Nice!
Also one of, if not the most heavily restricted bikes there are . If there were ever bikes that needed an ECU flash these are it.
Agreed. You see how much they are restricted when several timers got their hands on them.
The intakes are cosmetic. The old Vmax was 1200cc. Get your facts right, please.
Try a 2020 Rocket 3. 165 ft-lbs of torque. Most on a production motorcycle. Nothing can touch me off the line.
Vmax beats it by quite a bit
@@Insaiyanrider Not true. 2020 Rocket 3 ran a production bike 0-60 record 2.73 sec.
@@pge7104 vmax runs 0-60 2.5
But the Rocket 3 looks amazing and much faster than the Vmax my MT10 can kill the Vmax for breakfast
@@alexsaad6486 ahahhh you keep on dreaming the mt10 would flip on its back before it could keep up with Vmax
thank you very much finally somebody asks the question why in God's name would you want to have a Vmax
and the answer for me is incredibly simple and straight to the point
I am short 173cm
I cannot get my feet at the ground if I havea Yamaha R1 it's simple
I want something incredibly fast
that I can put my feet to the ground
and this is the solution finally a motor bike build for people with short legs
and with the need for incredibly speed.
My dreams bike
Damm, she needs to try an R1 🤣🤣
