Thank you for this! It’s great to see someone promote accepting ones features and capitalizing on them, instead of surgery. Ppl talk about hooded eyes like they’re a problem when really they just require different techniques and placements and look just as beautiful when done right.
Stunning! “You’re not just limited to your lid, especially if you’ve got hooded eyes” yesss! For smaller eyes, definitely keep inner eye color tight to the eye line until you see where you want to take the color. I learned to take my lid color almost past my socket line years ago and man, what a game changer. If you’re looking to define the lash line, fill in the lash line so the real estate you’ve got isn’t eaten up. Thank you for showing some love and acceptance to this eye shape
I’m a person who wears very minimal (when I worked in an office), to now - generally no makeup (permanently work from home now). However, these makeup tutorials are so utterly interesting and are so intriguing to me. I find that it really is a work of artistry the way you apply colors, eyeshadows, blending, the overall technique, etc. Lately, I feel like I really want to give it a try on a personal level - even if it never sees the light of day! That’s how much I’m enjoying watching it!
Brow size and shaping, makeup (foundation/powders) for over 40, sweat proof makeup for over 40! You’re amazing so I know I’ll get the best advise! Love you and all the info and help you give us all! Tha ks
I've got teeny tiny shrimp eyes, and it was so refreshing to hear a youtuber acknowledge I might not *want* to close off my eyes with dark colours lol. Usually it's the positivity gang preaching YESS KWEEN SMUDGE THAT DARK GOO ON ALL OVER U R BEAUTIFUL
I am an older woman (77) and have over time developed hooded eyes. I just adore your makeup tutorials but now because of ageing cannot wear quite the amount of eye shadows, particularly frosted and metallic shades as it makes the crepiness more pronounced. I tend to use matte shadows but dearly wish I could do my eyes like you do! Love your beautiful porcelain skin. Divine!
So happy you showed us this! Oddly enough I made an attempt at a halo eye look for my hooded eyes over the weekend. I didn't consider blowing out the eyeshadow out for the outer-v. I've always brought eyeshadow on the inner corner further up but never knew if it looked "right", this was reassuring for someone clueless about makeup like me lol.
As a person with hooded eyes and low set brows, I recently tried out the lower lid makeup look you showed and I was surprised I hadn't thought of it earlier. I usually just blend my eyeshadow in my crease and up to my eyebrows but these vids are giving me so much more new ideas!! Can't wait to try out more hooded eye makeup looks!
You know what? I kind of loved how it looked with just the inner and outer corners done up with the matte shadows and then a bare nekkid lid in the center. There's something so "edgy cool girl" about that.
I've been binging your videos for the last few days and I love how passionate you are about makeup! I'm so excited to do makeup again, ive been struggling with eczema on my face so I havent been able to do anything for 4 months and your videos really calm me and give me the same relaxing feeling as when im doing my makeup myself! Thankyou
My dad has eczema (the Vietnamese side of my family) and I’ve developed it as I’ve grown, he loves to use Jergens lotion and I’ve had luck with Aveeno body lotion on my face. Try it if you like 😊
My eyes look like yours only the bride bone covers my lid a tiny bit more. I've never, ever, in 12-years, been able to find instruction for this. You are a saint! You are an angel! Thank you to the stars and back!
I live in a tiny apartment complex, and my Neighbor Family have been so encouraging with my makeup journey! The advice given here is PRECIOUS! THANK YOU!
This is a really pretty eye look. I don't have hooded eyes but I think this would look good on my eyes. I might try it out. I love that pop of blue you put in your water line. Stunning. Thanks for this tutorial, Alex. Wonderful as always!
Realizing that it's not only East Asians who can have hooded eyes and that I am in fact one of the many caucasians whose eyes are hooded was FREEING (because I finally understood why so many makeup looks didn't seem to work on me) and also DEPRESSING (because I finally understood why so many makeup looks didn't seem to work on me) T _ T But now I'm on a journey of figuring out what DOES work for my eye shape, and that's been fun, too! I've started just trying to intuitively create looks that feel right to me, rather than following the standard eyeshadow application wisdom passed down from my mom. Thank you sincerely for these tips!
I feel ya. I'm a guy, I have hooded eyes, and thick low brows. If I have a neutral face it's literally last to brow, nothing in between. These videos and, shockingly, drag eye tips help a ton!
Close-set, deep-set eyes here. I have a favorite light matte eyeshadow that I love to buff into that area that tends to appear so shadowed (inner eye/under the brow/beside the nose at the beginning of the brow). The eyeshadow is basically my skin tone, just a shade lighter. It buffs into my actual skin tone so naturally but really helps low-key open and lighten the area. I love doing that, and then proceeding with the rest of whatever look I’m doing. I also like to use that shade to “highlight” my brow bone for a more everyday, natural look instead of adding reflective shimmer. Especially since my brow bones tend to appear prominent without the added help 😅
I'm 60 with Heavily hooded eyes, and I stress, Heavily. But they are also somewhat deep set with a prominent brow bone, with quite a bit of "real estate" from the hood to the brow bone. But I'm going to try this anyway, I love this look!
This is the first eyeshadow look that was visible actually looked good on me! Thank you for giving people like me the skills to manage something do&able and not too complex
I’ve been waiting for a video like this for years!!! All the influencers did halo eyes and I always felt like my extra hooded lids prevented me from making it work. Thank You!!!
I thought this might be one of the prettiest eye looks I've seen. I am new to your tutorials, having clicked on your channel only a few months ago. At 59, I was watching older makeup artists (during the pandemic I started watching TH-cam and was drawn to makeup tutorials) when, one day, yours popped up. I have been a fan ever since and discovered your "Alx Talx" pieces just yesterday. By the way, I have never heard anyone use the f-bomb so elegantly, inoffensively or amusingly as you do. I love it. Keep up the good work. -Paula
Lovely. Yeah, as someone with very hooded eyes (but decent enough real estate) I basically follow standard techniques except moving everything upward past the crease. I stick to a midtone (or transition shade) to connect my halo. One of the biggest game changers for me has been the light colored eyeliner in the waterline, for sure.
I have hooded eyes and I always connected the dark shades because that’s what everyone said to do for halo, but nice tip on not connecting it! Will try next time :)
I love your tutorials and explanations, you really show that you consider all types of eyelids and their tiny details, and the difference a small move makes. You’re like the chess player… of hooded eye makeup 😏❤
i don’t watch your videos very regularly as i’m not that much into makeup but whenever i do i feel weirdly at home and safe and calm. you help me relax a lot all while at the same time teaching me so much about makeup which could come in very handy once i get more confident to try more daring looks. thanks alex!💗

I have watery/slightly allergic eyes, so what I need also is an everyday look for hooded eyes without makeup under the outer corners (because this part always runs away during the day no matter what...).
I managed a a halo look today after watching this. First time it's worked out. I used different colours but followed your techniques. Delighted, thank you.
One hooded eye technique is to put a cream concealer on your lower lid, then look up. Oh thank you thank you thank you. I have hooded eyes and not much space but I really love colour on my eyes. I am for sure going to watch this over and over and try it out. You are wonderful Alex xxxx

Very helpful, thank you. If only I had a tiny bit of your talent. Absolutely love the look you got.
I loved this so much! I have hooded, downturned eyes and I've been doing shadow wrong for a long time. I was told to do halo eyes at a makeover I did years ago, but it never looked "right". This is why, I was connecting the dark colors. You are amazing. Thank you.
