Love your actual tutorials that tell us WHAT, WHEN, WHY, HOW we apply makeup the way we do. BTW, the lipstick tutorial is info I never knew I needed. Wearing my lip liner today and what a difference ☺️
“I don’t care what year it is.” I felt this in my soul. I’m ALL about the shimmery inner corner too. I CANNOT do an all matte look. I CANNOT. I won’t. It MUST have shimmer and glimmer somehow someway.
Alex, you have raised the bar when it comes to tutorials that address our issues. My 20s were the 1990s. I adored the Supermodels and devoured 3 Vogues each month. I have very little realestate on my mobile lid and my idea of a smoke lid would look like I had a year of unwashed Kohl on my eyes. Today, with this Virgo turning 54 soon, you have given me the skills, the tools and the gentle encouragement to do this and rock it like I am 23 again. Love to you!
Shimmery innercorner is also very like 2008. It's one of those things that keeps coming back for a reason. We called that really obvious shimmer white in the inner corner like 2010 and before as "seagulshit". People need to stop saying anything is out dated cause it's just personal preference
I will NEVER stop putting a shimmery or at least light innerconer. I find it like blush, a basic. If it is flattering on most people why would we stop?
I feel like I have learned the most unique and helpful tips from you than just about any celebrity make up artist out by there. FACTS keep these videos coming I miss the tutorial content beauty gurus used to share now it’s all about beauty reviews and feeling like you have to buy everything new at Sephora.
I currently have a headache, and have been clicking through videos trying to find one that wouldn’t make it worse, and none of them except yours were chill enough to listen to comfortably. I always love the casual, chill vibes of your content :)
I’d stopped doing shadow because it just didn’t feel fun anymore, but every time I watch one of your videos I have so much fun playing with it again. 😊
As I was about to put on makeup to celebrate a huge achievement I made, I wasn’t sure about what to do with my eyes and YOU SAVED THE DAY THANK YOU QUEEN 😭😭🙏🙏🙏👑 Edit: Forget all of this.. just forget it
Speaking as an educator, may I say how I LOVE that you've gone beyond just same ol' YT influencer but really educating in the best possible way Alex... so clear, do efficient and so helpful! 🙏🌺❤
I'd love to see you do that sleepy/bitchy eye that all those "wolf cut" haired chicks are doing on TikTok. Or were doing, if that trend has come and gone already? Lol. Also, seeing you tackle a few "alternative" looks would be cool, too. Goth, E-girl, maybe go all-out for Halloween, and do something black metal inspired? So many suggestions! I've said this before, but I really want to see you get a bunch of Rituel De Fille products, and play around with those. They're this indie, vampy, clean beauty brand I'm obsessed with rn, but I'm having issues with longevity for their eye products. They have these universal cream pigments that are awesome. Basically everything is a cream; even their powder eye shadows have an emollient feel to them. I'm curious to see what your take on the brand would be, if you could somehow get a bit more duration out of their eye products.
You are the FIRST actual hooded eye person- and makeup artist- that actually slowly and thoroughly explains how and where to put makeup on- THANK YOU. I'm alternative stylistically and I've never been able to figure out makeup. I thought I was just cursed. This gives the the courage at 25 to finally try. Thank you!
Alex I love your makeup no matter what you do😊, I would like to see an eye look for older women that still looks beautiful but not to much over the top for us older ladies. Thank you keep doing what your doing!
Alex! I have a video suggestion! What if your viewers sent photos of themselves without makeup on to you, and you chose the most interesting faces to draw and create a makeup look for. You could then make a video about the drawing(s) and explain what made you choose that face (or several faces) and why you chose that type of makeup for them!
I recently started to bring the shimmer in the inner corner a bit along the lower lashline cause I saw it on tiktok and it looks very anime and cute. People are also putting straight up glitter on the lower lid to give similar effect. So I was very shocked to hear it's considered outdated, I was under impression it's a timeless well-known lifehack that even gains new iterations sometimes...
When you first started the look, I thought, oh that won't work for my eyes. But of course, the more you added, the more I thought, hmmm maybe. I have the Mario liner and it really makes a big difference for me. Another gorgeous look, and thanks again for explaining how and why you place the shadows and the final result. Beautiful!
ALEX YOU’RE A GENIUS! I absolutely love this because as someone with deep set eye and lots of lid space, I’ve always wanted to utilize smoky eyes, but I always looked like someone punched me or I’m half dead. Shimmery inner corner is something I’ve always utilized because of my deep set eyes too. You can even take that slightly on the inner bottom lash a bit. It’ll really open the eyes. Do these methods still apply to colorful eyeshadow? Like a smoky blue or purple?
At the very beginning of the video, Alex said, “Pick literally any color”. 😉 I think all of her tips would work for any color that makes you feel good or happy.
As personal experience, considering I have dark circles and very deep set eyes. I just would suggest you to avoid very warm colors or black. Neutrals and cools shouldn’t look like a punch in the face
I love when you compare the little extras to the other eye. It is amazing how one or two little changes make a big difference! Love the entire look! 🤎🤎
Must have brushes for any eye look. Go to eye liners…I’m over 50 and have trouble with liquid (please avoid those-too many wrinkles). I generally use eyeshadow for liner, but really like how you did this smoky eye.
after i realized how other beauty influencers were having me do my makeup in a way tht didn’t look good irl i was scared to follow any other trends or tutorials, but watching ur videos has fr elevated my makeup game thank u sm! it’d be dope asf if you did a makeup master class where we can pay to all do out makeup w u!!
Yes and/or over 50's going out Friday night l want those peepers popping. Got brown Hazel deep set eyes oh and what colour lipstick to use with dark brown eyeshadow thanks
I'd personally probably go with neutrals a tad been less intense/saturated so that they don't accentuate parts you don't want standing out. I like starting with just one eye and comparing it to the other to gauge how intense it appears.
I'm SUPER pale with tiny, 53yr old eyes. I decided (right before bed) to try a smokey ultramarine blue eye! One eye with this method, one eye with just the outer edges and eue #2 worked! Thanks for the inspo!
Listen...... I will rock a shimmering inner corner when I'm 85!!! It's who I am. And, Alex and I are not wrong!!!!! What a gorgeous look! All the great tips for a delicious smokey eye!! I love it!!! Your tutorials are the best!! You are just the freaking best! Blessings to you! ✌🏼💚🙏🏼
This was golden! Thank you for always explaining and demonstrating in such an easy- going way. I wear glasses and I would love some tips and tricks if you could, please.
Yesss!!!!! I have a double whammy - hooded eyes AND glasses! It's almost pointless to wear anything besides liner and mascara, anything else totally disappears... I would love some tips for us glasses wearers!
I love a good grungey smokey eye with color liner but adding the nude really elevates this look and makes it really elegant and sophisticated. I'm excited to try it out. Thank you for sharing!
THANK YOU for not hating on the inner corner highlight!!! i do love a glitter eye w/ a matte inner corner & bright colored waterline bc contrast. but glitter corner is *chef's kiss*

Uggghh yesss quality tips and tricks for us small eyed individuals! Thank you so much for sharing! I have small eyes and don’t do Smokey eyes-until now.
When you applied that shimmer shade to the middle of your lower lashline , you can instantly see how it brings out the color of your eyes !! Thank you so much for sharing these tips ! 😭
Bruhh taking that liner past the outer corner GOT ME, so good. I also dot a little white in the centre of my waterline and blend into the nude, super round effect!
I initially thought like ok, what kind of tricks even are there? Until I followed this tutorial. Like whaaaat?! This is the best Smokey Eye I’ve ever accomplished 😂 and just in time for the wedding I’m going to this weekend. This technique is so legit ❤
Since you asked for challenge ideas, here’s my challenge for you. I will be wearing a long dark navy formal dress to an evening wedding and don’t know what colors to use for eyeshadow and lips. Blue eyes, fair skin with pink undertones, blonde hair. Would love some direction. Thank you!

Thank you! Finally someone explained how I've been doing my makeup since high school. Didn't have any training in makeup or TH-cam 20 years ago. Well we did have youtube but also dialup internet😂 So I taught myself sitting on my bedroom floor as a teenager. My inspo for this look at that time was Andrea Corr!
I’m in awe of how beautiful this Smokey eye look is! I have extremely fair features (light red hair, blue eyes and pale) and I cannot wait to try this look out. Thank you for all the effort and the explanations! Xx
I swear I’ve learned more from you then any other MUA. I love your explanations from the art angle - helps me remember and makes soo much sense. ❤ the best ❤ thank you 😊
The liner is a revelation. Makes a huge difference and extending it past the eye is fantastic. I am going to try this in a colour because I am obsessed with colour now that my hair is plain blonde. Thank you so much for your energy, clarity and spirit. I love your channel so much xx
Amazing as always! It’s crazy that to MY eye, the last bit of shimmer actually made the eye look a little smaller than the non-shimmer eye. Gorgeous, and just so interesting!
I’m with you on the shimmery inner corner! Shimmery inner cornersFOREVER! I’ve been doing that since 2006 when I first saw it on a model in 17 magazine.❤️ I was 16.
About that inner corner shimmer/ lighten...... The properties of light and shadow don't care what year it is! It still works! *technique and specific color choice ebb and flow through the years, yes, but where light hits doesn't
I just saw your videos for the first time. I love how you demonstrate not just technique, but also possible combinations in colors and complete looks. I have a request: my niece is getting married the second week of December in a formal evening wedding. My dress is floor length black with champagne shimmering sleeves. I have a pale complexion with long curly brown hair (my hair will be down) and hazel eyes. How would you do makeup for that event? I will be in the family photos.
a challenge for you! ive been scouring the internet for sort of a SOFT grungey look that isnt a copy. most of the time i see plain eyeliner, or smoked liner, or something very basic, like very soft brown and thin liner. i want something that seems original- i LOVE this look. it pretty much is an elevated version of my everyday makeup, meaning i like this casual glam that isnt too glammy, too egirl or too minimalist. i would love to see your take on this !!!!
I love how you show the comparison to teach how big of a difference subtle changes make. Like holy shit! I'm definitely going back to the shimmery inner corner now!
Such a helpful tutorial! Love the nude liner on the waterline and the shimmer on the bottom. More tutorials to make eyes look bigger would be amazing especially for those of us with small slightly hooded eyes!
Another thing I have done to clients to give them a bigger, brighter eye is use the same nude color from your waterline, also on your upper tight-line. Just make sure you line in your lashes with a darker liner or get your mascara really tight to the base of your lashes so they don’t look like they are floating. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for sharing. Your end result looked beautiful.🫶🏼😍
The amount of you saying it did helpful 🥹
yes i saved this tutorial! thanks again!!!❤ and am back to see what products you used lol
can you try the rem beauty concealer?

I love how you show the comparison to teach how big of a difference subtle changes make. Like holy shit! I'm definitely going back to the shimmery inner corner now!
All about our love.
Got to be the best tutorials , at 53 I’m still learning, the lip tutorial game changer ! Thanks for keeping me up to date x
I would love to see you continue.
Soooooo helpful! As always.... I am going to attempt this on my 54 yr old eyes🤔
