I might have been a little hard on it during the review btw, it does drone but its not insane - around city is good, highway is a bit annoying. I'm just a very sensitive little boy with hyper effective ears 🐸
Add a hi-flow resonator, 12" or so... and sound deadening material to the trunk interior. The resonators from ebay are good, any around 40 to 60 should do.
@@mazpr2025 resonator might help, probably not tbh. Sound deadening only does too much and adds weight. The best thing is to craft up a helmholtz or side branch resonator. the latter being the most effective at killing drone.
I had a Rev9 3-inch catback on my FA5, and the drone was crazy. I added the Helmholtz resonator and the vibrant resonator nothing worked. I had I/H/E setup with all hasport 70A mounts and the drone was unbelievable. Once you get the header, cruising between 3,000-4,000 rpm is practically impossible because of the drone. I miss my FA5 a lot and really want to buy it but as you mentioned the drone makes it unsuitable for road trips. The power gains with FBO are good but the car is not livable anymore. Turbo is a good option to reduce the drone but all good turbo kit manufacturers like fullrace and prl stopped supporting the 8th-generation platform. PS: Rev9 3-inch is the same design as the full-race.
I had this same exhaust on my 2010 SI back in the day. I went to Lowe's and got some sound deadening material and lined the trunk/qtrs with it. Made a huge difference for not a lot of money or time. Highly recommend it. Calms down A lot of buzziness and allows you to enjoy the exhaust sound more.
I had a black 09 Si sedan which i regret selling. Bought it with 4 miles brand new an gave her up with 62k miles that was like 12 years ago. Enjoy the ride. I'll be getting me one soon.
Love the content! I can tell you're putting a ton of work into this these videos. Your channel has some serious potential to take off! The dynamics between you and your brother are awesome. Wouldn't be surprised if you hit 100k subs by 2024. I'm excited to see what you guys bring to the table this year.
I put a 2.5 Inch Yonaka Catback on mine. I already had a AEM Long Tube Cold Air Intake on, she’s a screamer. The first day I had it on I wasn’t too sure if I liked it. But I ended up liking it and getting used to it.
Most recomended mod you get after doing all the performance mods you want to knock out for the track (intake, header, tb, injectors, boost, etc.) is hondata flashpro. Gets rid of revhang, and it's one of the best software for tuning you can get out of these cars. Lots of tuners know how to use them. If you want to go all out track car like you're saying, just go for haltech or something more serious, for budget though, flashpro is were it's at. Try to get it used but have real proof that it's unlocked from the seller since some people leave it locked and have to pay $500 to get it unbinded from the previous car. Keep the series going man I'm excited to see what you do with it! I'm currently boosting my 8th gen si so it exciting to see another build unfold!
Honda isn't for everyone. I personally love the drone, the raspy and the vibration. Exhaust doesn't break in, but you're ECU will adjust to the changes. Your car will quiet down.
Not being rude, but if you are sensitive to noise and drone (I am too) - keep the stock exhaust. And with the K series, an intake will give you all the noise (good noise!) you'd ever want and will be much more prominent than an exhaust with none of the drone penalty.
this exhaust has the least drone. i have it as well, hooked up to a skunk2 alpha. also with a 3" k tuned intake. i have two tunes on hondata. one for the FBO build, and a pop/fire tune. all possible with the setup and full race. btw it was a cat delete. but i love this exhaust u can still conversate in the whip unlike the rice burning skunk2 exhaust. if it wasn't for this exhaust i would've checked out that invidia
Really hard to get a 4 cylinder to sound good inside and outside imo. The cabin naturally muffles the sound so if it sounds nice and deep with the windows open it usually ends up being droney and boomy with the windows closed. I like driving with my windows open or cracked though anyway.
i’m curious for anyone who sees this, I bought the Fill Race 3” for my 8th gen, My only question is how did you guys fit it up to the cat? I had a local Fab shop build me a 2.5”-3” adapter. the adapter is about 3” long so it made putting the exhaust on quite hard because the entire system was pushed back 3 inches. again, my question is how to mount it properly, and if I need a header, 3” headers are very hard for me to find, found 2 but Needs a test pipe
On the full race website they have an option for a 2.5 inch or 3 inch header, idk where you got yours from but you probably ended up with one that was for a 3 inch header
if only you knew what i just went through to get off that same damn bottom bolt by the cat, my impact stripped it, had to hammer on a 13 mm 12 point and heat it up and get it off with a ratchet and a lacrosse bar😂🤦🏼♂️from 11-230 am but damn we got her lol
Not a hate comment just my opinion. You seem overly sensitive to noise tbh. I have a Skunk2 catback which Is much louder. The full race sounds stock to me. If you get an exhaust it's obviously not going to be as quiet as stock. That miniscule amount of drone really isn't anything at all and if that bothers you I would just stick to the stock exhaust. Again no hate.
Its a 3” exhaust what do u expect. Smaller exhausts wont drone so bad. The drone is mostly from the stock cat when you get rid of it youll lose the drone and a get more high pitch tone
Ive had the rev9 3 inch (full race clone) and invidia q300 FBO, and they both droned alot. Tbh just have to live with it. I tried helmholtz resonator and it helped a little but as the exhaust heated up it didnt make a difference. Also definitely get hondata before headers so you can get it all tuned.

I think it’s perfect, when it has headers/race cats it’ll be perfect
For me the fujitsubo rm01a is the best sounding exhaust with headers. I had it on my ep3 build! Oh boy what do I miss that car!

Yeah I think that may be the plan, it's fine since I'm working remote but in the future I'll probably go back to stock.
