Love these videos from time to time.
Dont ever apologise for using what my family call "garage words" in Scotty's garage. They're in context and areused like salt and pepper to enhance the story, and really show your emotions.
This feels like a chat with a mate in a garage.
    Shed chats.
Finding it really interesting to 'get to know' the man we see on camera at carnage.
The algorithm showed me your channel.
    Keep it up Scotty!

Amazing story Scotty, the part describing your son's arrival really struck a chord with me too. I've done the 1am follow-the-ambulance-to-NICU drive myself when my son was born and it was VERY touch and go, so I totally sympathise that's for sure.

Great personal history episode. I was one of those people who only bought a magazine for the free video. The newsagents had racks full of them. These days, very few magazines are available, with no DVDs anymore. The newsagents are also disappearing as well now. TH-cam and Google supply all you need these days. Thanks for the memories and updates. ❤

    • @blownhemi
      @blownhemi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

TH-cam and google are good but I think there's still a place for magazines. Proper journalism is a dying art, now it's sensationalism for clicks.

Good viewing, Scotty. Was never really a Chrysler person, so had no idea you had a magazine. A real bit of history there and I’m not surprised those slick 6 packs are already gone 🔥
I also remember a issue of SM in the 90s where they were raving about a 300hp Holden 8, so 400+ would have been nuts at the time 🔥
I still have copies of Street Commodores too, but no DVD 😂

Thanks, Scott. Great story. I didn't know before about MotorTrend and the YT $5M. I suspect that probably also included some of their other shows like Roadkill Garage and Dirt Every Day. But yeah, I imagine they cost a lot to produce. Support crews and insurance. And they probably get the shitboxes thoroughly checked over before they get anywhere near a public road.

Roadkill Garage came later, but I believe Dirt Every Day was probably part of the 5 million deal. I don't think anyone checks the cars before they hit the road, though. I've seen a lot of them up close and personal on one of my US trips, and they are rough as hell. They make Carnage cars look like show pieces in comparison.

I’m 16 and this is an amazing insight into what the journalism industry and working in the industry of car magazines used to be like. Hoping to work with cars in the future. Amazing to hear how you have come about making content on cars and I am looking forward to seeing what this channel becomes in the years to come. Have loved some of the previous projects on streetmachine 👍

    Thanks for sharing, Scotty.
I had made good friends with the team at Street Fords (EP’s other side of the coin to Street Commodores) 15-20 years back and caught up with them every time they were in Victoria. They’d asked me at one point of I’d consider moving to Sydney to write or do video content for them- I was kind of glad that I declined after hearing about EP’s toxic work environment.

You are a genuine true blue Aussie mate and you have inspired a lot of people to give things a go. Doing things on a budget and still having fun gives those of us with little amounts of spare money to put into our passions that little bit of motivation. Keep it up please and thankyou.

I enjoyed this episode, I can’t normally sit through an hour video but you come across so genuine, I actually didn’t know you were so involved in the magazine industry.

Scotty, thanks for the background video. I like the long format podcast type format, it means I can put the head phones in a either go for a walk or listen whilst I do other things, like work, with out having to look at the screen all the time. It would be great I you could do a few more and even interview/ talk shit with other like minded people. Scotty’s cars would be interesting.
I’m one of seven boys and always joke that I should write a book called “cars my brothers have crashed”
    Keep up the good work.😊

Sounds like a great title. I've got to say that while the video seems popular with those who have watched it, I think the length might be putting people off because it's not getting as many views. That makes me hesitant to do many like this.
